1Clinicopathologic and prognostic relevance of ARID1A protein loss in colorectal cancer显示文摘AIM:To explore the association between AT-rich interactive domain 1A(ARID1A)protein loss by immunohistochemistry and both clinicopathologic characteristics and prognosis in patients with colorectal cancer.METHODS:We retrospectively collected clinicopathologic data and archived paraffin-embedded primary colorectal cancer samples from 209 patients,including 111patients with colon cancer and 98 patients with rectal cancer.The tumor stage ranged from stageⅠto stageⅣaccording to the 7th edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer tumor-node-metastasis(TNM)staging system.All patients underwent resection of primary colorectal tumors.The expression of ARID1A protein in primary colorectal cancer tissues was examined by immunohistochemical staining.The clinicopathologic association and survival relevance of ARID1A protein loss in colorectal cancer were analyzed.RESULTS:ARID1A loss by immunohistochemistry was not rare in primary colorectal cancer tumors(25.8%).There were 7.4%,24.1%,22.2%and 46.3%of patients with ARID1A loss staged at TNM stageⅠ,Ⅱ,ⅢandⅣ,respectively,compared with 20.0%,22.6%,27.7%and 29.7%of patients without ARID1A loss staged at TNM stageⅠ,Ⅱ,ⅢandⅣ,respectively.In patients with ARID1A loss,the distant metastasis rate was 46.3%.However,only 29.7%of patients without ARID1A loss were found to have distant metastasis.In terms of pathologic differentiation,there were 25.9%,66.7%and 7.4%with poorly,moderately and well differentiated tumors in patients with ARID1A loss,and 14.2%,72.3%and 13.5%with poorly,moderately and well differentiated tumors in patients without ARID1A loss,respectively.ARID1A loss was associated with late TNM stage(P=0.020),distant metastasis(P=0.026),and poor pathological classification(P=0.035).However,patients with positive ARID1A had worse overall survival compared to those with negative ARID1A in stageⅣcolorectal cancer(HR=2.49,95%CI:1.13-5.51).CONCLUSION:ARID1A protein loss is associated with clinicopathologic characteristics in colorectal cancer patients and with survival in stageⅣpatients.Xiao-Li Wei De-Shen Wang Shao-Yan Xi Wen-Jing Wu Dong-Liang Chen Zhao-Lei Zeng Rui-Yu Wang Ya-Xin Huang Ying Jin Feng Wang Miao-Zhen Qiu Hui-Yan Luo Dong-Sheng Zhang Rui-Hua Xu 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,48:8
2Interactive effect of minerals on complex ore flotation: A brief review显示文摘Froth flotation is the most effective industrial method used to separate fine-grained minerals. The main problem of complex ore flotation is the negative effect of interactions among minerals in slurry, leading to variation in surface properties during separation. In this review,studies on the interactive effect among minerals on the flotation of iron ores, magnesite ores, and scheelite ores are summarized, and the main problems and mechanisms that diminish the separation efficiency of minerals are revealed in detail. Recent research progress on the flotation of these ores has confirmed that mineral aggregation, coating, and dissolution, as well as other factors caused by interacting behavior, explain the depressing effects of fine particles on mineral separation. Solvable methods for these effects are further discussed. 3A new method for spatio-temporal prediction of rainfall-induced landslide显示文摘Geological condition and rainfall are two most principal conditions inducing landslides in the Chongqing region. By analyzing the forming conditions of rainfall-induced landslides, a new method for spatio-temporal prediction of rainfall-induced landslide is brought forward on the basis of grading and overlapping geological condition and rainfall factor in this paper. At first, semi-quantitative assessment and grading for the geological condition of a certain area or slope can be carried out with the multi-factor interactive matrix. Then the severity of rainfall in that area is grading according to the maximum daily rainfall and the total rainfall in a rainfall course. Finally, the “landslide probability judgement factor” can be worked out through grading and overlapping “geological condition influenc- ing factor” and “rainfall influencing factor”, by which the landslide can be graded into 4 grades, they are landslide extremely easily happening, landslide easily happening, landslide difficultly happening and landslide hardly ever happening respectively. More accurate spatio-temporal prediction of rain- fall-induced landslides can come true on the ground of detailed geological survey of some dangerous slopes in an area and more precise weather forecast. 7Neurally adjusted ventilator assist in very low birth weight infants:Current status显示文摘Continuous improvements in perinatal care have resultedin increased survival of premature infants.Their immature lungs are prone to injury with mechanical ventilation and this may develop into chronic lung disease(CLD) or bronchopulmonary dysplasia.Strategies to minimize the risk of lung injury have been developed and include improved antenatal management(education,regionalization,steroids,and antibiotics),exogenous surfactant administration and reduction of barotrauma by using exclusive or early noninvasive ventilatory support.The most frequently used mode of assisted ventilation is pressure support ventilation that may lead to patientventilator asynchrony that is associated with poor outcome.Ventilator-induced diaphragmatic dysfunction or disuse atrophy of diaphragm fibers may also occur.This has led to the development of new ventilation modes including neurally adjusted ventilatory assist(NAVA).This ventilation mode is controlled by electrodes embedded within a nasogastric catheter which detect the electrical diaphragmatic activity(Edi) and transmit it to trigger the ventilator in synchrony with the patient's own respiratory efforts.This permits the patient to control peak inspiratory pressure,mean airway pressure and tidal volume.Back up pressure control(PC) is provided when there is no Edi signal and no pneumatic trigger.Compared with standard conventional ventilation,NAVA improves blood gas regulation with lower peak inspiratory pressure and oxygen requirements in preterm infants.NAVA is safe mode of ventilation.The majority of studies have shown no significant adverse events in neonates ventilated with NAVA nor a difference in the rate of intraventricular hemorrhage,pneumothorax,or necrotizing enterocolitis when compared to conventional ventilation.Future large size randomized controlled trials should be established to compare NAVA with volume targeted and pressure controlled ventilation in newborns with mature respiratory drive.Most previous studies and trials were not sufficiently large and did not include longterm patient oriented outcomes.Multicenter,randomized,outcome trials are needed to determine whether NAVA is effective in avoiding intubation,facilitating extubation,decreasing time of ventilation,reducing the incidence ofCLD,decreasing length of stay,and improving long-term outcomes such as the duration of ventilation,length of hospital stay,rate of pneumothorax,CLD and other major complications of prematurity.In order to prevent barotrauma,next generations of NAVA equipment for neonatal use should enable automatic setting of ventilator parameters in the backup PC mode based on the values generated by NAVA.They should also include an upper limit to the inspiratory time as in conventional ventilation.The manufacturers of Edi catheters should produce smaller sizes available for extreme low birth weight infants.Newly developed ventilators should also include leak compensation and high frequency ventilation.A peripheral flow sensor is also essential to the proper delivery of all modes of conventional ventilation as well as NAVA.Hassib Narchi Fares Chedid 2015World Journal of Methodology2015,5,2:4
8Modeling of UAV path planning based on IMM under POMDP framework显示文摘In order to enhance the capability of tracking targets autonomously of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the partially observable Markov decision process (POMDP) model for UAV path planning is established based on the POMDP framework. The elements of the POMDP model are analyzed and described. The state transfer law in the model can be described by the method of interactive multiple model (IMM) due to the diversity of the target motion law, which is used to switch the motion model to accommodate target maneuvers, and hence improving the tracking accuracy. The simulation results show that the model can achieve efficient planning for the UAV route, and effective tracking for the target. 10LOCAL FLEXIBILITY BEHAVIOR OF TUBULAR JOINTS AND ITS EFFECT ON GLOBAL ANALYSIS OF TUBULAR STRUCTURES显示文摘In the tubular frames with simple joints, the joints may show considerable local flexibility, which causes excessive deformation and affects internal force distributions. It is useful and important to study turbular joint flexibility as well as the effect of joint local flexibility on the global behavior of tubular structure for the design and building of offshore platforms. A new method for computing the stiffness coefficients of simple tubular joints is developed in this paper based on two previous computing models. According to this method, the local flexibility of T, Y, TY tubular joints are computed. This method has merits of clear physical sense, simplicity of computations and less c. p. u. time. The effect of flexibility of tubular joints on the global behavior of framed tubular structures is investigated by comparing the computed results of tubular structures with flexible tubular joints with those with rigid connections. 18Three-dimensional reconstructed magnetic resonance scans:Accuracy in identifying and defining knee meniscal tears显示文摘AIM To determine whether three-dimensional(3D) reconstruction from conventional magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) is able to accurately detect a meniscal tear, and define the configuration.METHODS Thirty-three patients' 3T MRI scan data were collected and sagittal uni-planar 3D reconstructions performed from the preoperative MRI. There were 24 meniscal tears in 24 patients, and nine controls. All patients had arthroscopic corroboration of MRI findings. Two independent observers prospectively reported on all 33 reconstructions. Meniscal tear presence or absence was noted, and tear configuration subsequently categorised as either radial, bucket-handle, parrot beak, horizontal or complex.RESULTS Identification of control menisci or meniscal tear presence was excellent(Accuracy: observer 1 = 90.9%; observer 2 = 81.8%). Of the tear configurations, bucket handle tears were accurately identified(Accuracy observer 1 and 2 = 80%). The remaining tear configurations were notaccurately discernable.CONCLUSION Uni-planar 3D reconstruction from 3T MRI knee scan sequences are useful in identifying normal menisci and menisci with bucket-handle tears.
