THE EAST ASIA/PACIFIC PATTERN TELECONNECTION OF SUMMER CIRCULATION AND CLIMATE ANOMALY IN EAST ASIA显示文摘In this paper, many observations show that the thermal states including the SST,the convective activities in the west-ern Pacific warm pool largely influence the interannual and intraseasonal variations of summer circulation and the cli-mate anomalies in East Asia. Moreover,it is pointed out that there is a teleconnection pattern of summer circulationanomalies in the Northern Hemisphere, the so-called East Asia/Pacific pattern. The cause of the teleconnection pattern is studied by using the theory of quasi-stationary planetary wave propaga-tion,and it may be due to the propagation of quasi-stationary planetary waves forced by heat source around thePhilippines. Moreover, this pattern is well simulated by using a quasi-geostrophic,linear,spherical model and theIAP-GCM,respectively. | 黄荣辉 | 1992 | Acta meteorologica Sinica1992,6,1: | 58
Biliary tract injury caused by different relative warm ischemia time in liver transplantation in rats显示文摘BACKGROUND:There is a controversy over the degree of liver and biliary injury caused by the period of secondary warm ischemia.A liver autotransplantation model was adopted because it excludes the effects of infection and immunological rejection on bile duct injury. This study was undertaken to assess biliary tract injury caused by relative warm ischemia(secondary warm ischemia time in the biliary tract)and reperfusion. METHODS:One hundred and two rats were randomly divided into 5 groups:groupⅠ(control);groupsⅡtoⅤ, relative warm ischemia times of 0 minute,30 minutes,1 hour and 2 hours. In addition to the levels of serum alkaline phosphatase, and total bilirubin, pathomorphology assessment and TUNEL assay were performed to evaluate biliary tract damage. RESULTS:Under the conditions that there were no significant differences in warm ischemia time, cold perfusion time and anhepatic phase, group comparisons showed statistically significant differences. The least injury occurred in groupⅡ(portal vein and hepatic artery reperfused simultaneously)but the most severe injury occurred in groupⅤ(biliary tract relative warm ischemia time 2 hours). CONCLUSIONS:Relative warm ischemia is one of the factors that result in bile duct injury, and the relationship between relative warm ischemia time the bile injury degree is time-dependent.Simultaneous arterial and portal reperfusion is the best choice to avoid the bile duct injury caused by relative warm ischemia. | Zhao, Hong-Feng Zhang, Guo-Wei Zhou, Jie Lin, Jian-Hua Cui, Zhong-Lin Li, Xiang-Hong | 2009 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2009,8,3: | 24
The 1997-1998 warm event in the South China Sea显示文摘A strong warm event happens during spring 1997 to spring 1999 in the South China Sea. Its intensity and duration show that it is the strongest event on the record over the past decades. It also corresponds with the severe flood over the valley of the Yangtze River and a couple of marine environmental events. This note addressed the evolution process by using several data sets, such as sea surface temperature, height and wind stress in addition to subsurface temperature. The onset of the warm event almost tele-connects with the El Nino event in the tropical Pacific Ocean. Summer monsoon is stronger and winter monsoon is weaker in 1997 so that there are persistent westerly anomalies in the South China Sea. During the development phase, the warm advection caused by southerly anomalies is the major factor while the adjustment of the thermocline is not obvious. Subsequently, the southerly anomalies decay and even northerly anomalies appear in the summer of 1998 resulting from the weaker than normal summer | WANG Dongxiao XIE Qiang DU Yan WANG Weiqiang CHEN Ju | 2002 | Chinese Science Bulletin2002,47,14: | 24
Relationship between East Asian winter monsoon, warm pool situation and ENSO cycle显示文摘Based on the observational data analyses and numerical simulations with the air-sea coupled model (CGCM), a new perspective on the occurrence mechanism of ENSO is advanced in this paper. The continuous strong (weak) East Asian winter monsoon will lead to continuous westerly (easterly) wind anomalies over the equatorial western Pacific region. The anomalous equatorial westerly (easterly) winds can cause eastward propagation of the subsurface ocean temperature anomalies (SOTA) in the warm pool region, the positive (negative) SOTA have been in the warm pool region for quite a long time. The eastward propagating of positive (negative) SOTA along the thermocline will lead to positive (negative) SSTA in the equatorial eastern Pacific and the occurrence of El Nino (La Nina) event. After the occurrence of ENSO, the winter monsoon in East Asia will be weak (strong) due to the influence of El Nino (La Nina). | Chongyin Li Mingquan Mu | 2000 | Chinese Science Bulletin2000,45,16: | 17
On the Huanghai (Yellow) Sea circulation:a review by current measurements显示文摘The Huanghai (Yellow) Sea circulations suggested in the past were constructed mostly based on hydrographic data or simple numerical models, and were not rigorously compered with direct current measurements. Ourpresent understanding of the Huanghai Sea circulation is still very poor and superficial. To evaluate our present knowledge about the circulation and to sketch a more realistic circulation pattern, the previous studies on the circulation arebriefly reviewed and directly measured current data collected in the past are revisited. The Huanghai Sea Warm Current and the northeastward extension in summer of the Changjiang diluted water are paid more attention to, which arethe major currents of the basic circulation, and then attempted to sketch the Huanghai Sea circulation by synthesizinghydrography and current data. The Huanghai Sea circulation is not considered to be persistent since the thin water column, less than 100 m, responds quickly and sensitively to external driving forces. Directly measured current data showthat saline water originating from the Kuroshio water turns clockwise around Cheju-do throughout the year and eventually joins the Tsushima Warm Current at the western channel of the Korea Strait. This clockwise current is called theCheju Warm Current. The current data do not support the persistent existence of the Huanghai Sea Warm Current, which has ho believed to supply heat and salt to the Huanghai Sea throughout the year. However, a northward flowis generated intermittently during the weakening phase of cold air outbreaks in winter. The northeast extension of theChangjiang diluted water in summer is evidenced by satellite-tracked surface drifters. | Heung-Jae Lie(Physical Oceanography Dvision, Korea Ocean Research and Development Institute, P.O. | 6 | Severe Drought Events as Revealed in the Climate Records of China and Their Temperature Situations over the Last 1000 Years显示文摘The total 15 severe droughts are discovered with the aid of the 'Retrieval System of Chinese HistoricalClimate Records' for the last 1000 years. The droughts are extensive to envelope more than 4 provinces andpersistent to cover 3 yr or more, and their severity is equivalent to or in excess of that in the 1930s in China.According to the documentary records and restorations it can be inferred that most droughts are more severethan those in the last 50 years. The 15 droughts may either occur warm or in a cold climate background, with 11 of the 15 cases in the cold phase. This indicates the difference in climate correspondence betweenChina and northern America, showing the severity of the events in China to be in a cold instead of a warmclimate situation. That is likely to relate to the monsoon climate in eastern Asia. | 张德二 | 2005 | Acta meteorologica Sinica2005,19,4: | 15
Evolution and variation of the Tsushima warm current during the late Quaternary: Evidence from planktonic foraminifera, oxygen and carbon isotopes显示文摘The evolution and variation history of the Tsushima warm current during the late Quaternary was reconstructed based on the quantitative census data of planktonic foraminiferal fauna, together with oxygen and carbon isotope records of mixed layer dweller G. ruber and thermocline dweller N. dutertrei in piston core CSH1 and core DGKS9603 collected separately from the Tsushima warm current and the Kuroshio dominated area. The result showed that the Tsushima warm current vanished in the lowstand period during 40―24 cal ka BP, while the Kuroshio still flowed across the Okinawa Trough, arousing strong upwelling in the northern Trough. Meanwhile, the influence of freshwater greatly increased in the northern Okinawa Trough, as the broad East China Sea continental shelf emerged. The freshwater reached its maximum during the last glacial maximum (LGM), when the upwelling obviously weakened for the lowest sea-level and the depression of the Kuroshio. The modern Tsushima warm current began its development since 16 cal ka BP, and the impact of the Kuroshio increased in the middle and north- ern Okinawa Trough synchronously during the deglaciation and gradually evolved as the main water source of the Tsushima current. The modern Tsushima current finally formed at about 8.5 cal ka BP, since then the circulation structure has been relatively stable. The water of the modern Tsushima cur- rent primarily came from the Kuroshio axis. A short-term wiggle of the current occurred at about 3 cal ka BP, probably for the influences from the enhancement of the winter monsoon and the depression of the Kuroshio. The cold water masses greatly strengthened during the wiggle. | LI TieGang SUN RongTao ZHANG DeYu LIU ZhenXia LI Qing JIANG Bo | 2007 | Science China Earth Sciences2007,50,5: | 15
Western Pacific in glacial cycles: Seasonality in marginal seas and variabilities of Warm Pool显示文摘A series of low latitude marginal seas, ranging from the southern South China Sea in the north to the Arafura Sea in the south, are located within the Western Pacific Warm Pool. As shown by micropaleontological, isotopical and organic geochemical analyses, the sea surface temperatures in the marginal seas at the last glacial maximum were much cooler than those in the open Western Pacific Ocean. The emergence of extensive shelves of the marginal seas at the glacial low sea level stand and the decrease of surface temperatures in their deeper water parts resulted in a remarkable reduction of the ability of vapor and heat transport to the atmosphere, causing variabilities to the Warm Pool in the glacial cycles. The intensification of winter monsoon at the glacial stages not only led to a decrease of the surface water temperature and hence to an enhanced seasonality, but also carried moisture from the sea to the tropical islands, giving rise to the downward shift of snowline and mountainous vegetation zones there. It may offer a new alternative in solution of the 'Tropical Ocean Paleo temperature Enigma'. | 汪品先 | 1998 | Science China Earth Sciences1998,41,1: | 14
Innovative designs of permafrost roadbed for the Qinghai-Tibet Railway显示文摘Under global warming scenarios, the passive method of simply increasing the thermal resistance by raising the embankment height and using insulating materials has been proven ineffective in warm and ice-rich permafrost areas and therefore could not be used in the Qinghai-Tibet Railway engineering. Instead, a proactive 'cooled-roadbed' approach was developed and used to lower the ground temperature in order to maintain a perennially frozen subgrade. The concept that local and site-specific factors play an important role in the occurrence and disappearance of permafrost has helped us to devise a number of measures to cool down the roadbed. For example, we adjust and control heat transfer by using different embankment configurations and fill materials. The Qinghai-Tibet Railway project demonstrates that a series of proactive roadbed-cooling methods can be used to lower the temperature of permafrost beneath the embankment and to stabilize the roadbed. These methods include solar radiation control using shading boards, heat convection control using ventilation ducts, thermosyphons, air-cooled embankments, and heat conduction control using 'thermal semi-conductor' materials, as well as combinations of above mentioned three control measures. This road-bed-cooling approach provides not only a solution for engineering construction in sensitive permafrost areas but also a countermeasure against possible global warming. | CHENG GuoDong WU QingBai MA Wei | 2009 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2009,52,2: | 13
Paleoclimatological and paleoenvironmental records since 4 000 a B.P. in sediments of alpine lakes in Taiwan显示文摘The 3 310-m-high Chia-min Lake records the climatic history since 4 ka B. P. in Taiwan. The warm/wet period before 2.2 ka B.P. seemed to correspond to the later part of the Holocene Megathermal, and the cold/dry period during 0-2/2 ka B. P. corresponded to the Katathermal. Before the termination of the Megathermal, an especially warm and humid segment (2, 2-2. 4 ka B. P. ) emerged. The paleoclimatic records from Yuen-yang and Chi-tsai Lakes support the notion that the Megathermal in Taiwan terminated during 2-2. 3 ka B. P. A warm segment (820-1 320 AD) in the Katathermal could be considered the Medieval Warm Period. The climate turned cold and dry after 1 320 AD and this indicated the onset of the Little Ice Age. These paleoclimatic variations are also in good agreement with those recorded in Great Ghost Lake. | 罗建育 陈镇东 | 1997 | Science China Earth Sciences1997,40,4: | 12
Effect of sintering temperature on the preparation of Cu-Ti_3 SiC_2 metal matrix composite显示文摘Ti3SiC2 has the potential to replace graphite as reinforcing particles in Cu matrix composites for applications in brush, electrical contacts and electrode materials. In this paper the fabrication of Cu-Ti3SiC2 metal matrix composites prepared by warm compaction powder metallurgy forming and spark plasma sintering(SPS) was studied. The stability of Ti3SiC2 at different sintering temperatures was also studied. The present experimental results indicate that the reinforcing particles in Cu-Ti3SiC2 composites are not stable at and above 800℃.The decomposition of Ti3SiC2 will lead to the formation of TiC and/or other carbides and TiSi2.If purity is the major concern, the processing and servicing temperatures of the Cu-Ti3SiC2 composite should be limited to 750℃ or lower. The composites prepared by warm compaction forming and SPS sintering at 750℃ have lower density when compared with the composites prepared by SPS sintering at 950℃,but their electrical resistivity values are very close to each other and even lower. | Tungwai L.Ngai Wei Zheng Yuanyuan Li | 2013 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2013,23,1: | 11
The Variation of Warm Pool in the Equatorial Western Pacific and Its Impacts on Climate显示文摘The variation of warm pool ocean temperature in the equatorial western Pacific and its impacts on climatic change are studied in the present paper. The SSTs in the warm POol region notonly have seasonal variation but also have interannual variation more clearly; The influence ofanomalies of SST in the warm pool region on the East Asian monsoon is studied with dataanalysis; And the impact of SSTA in the warm pool region on the teleconnection (wave-train) inthe atmospheric circulation is still investigated. The influence of ocean temperature anomalies inthe warm pool subsurface on the occurrence of ENSO is also discussed by using data analysis andmodelling with CGCM. All above-mentioned studies show that the situation of ocean temperaturein the warm pool region in the equatorial western Pacific plays an important role in the global climatic variation. | 李崇银 穆明权 周广庆 | 1999 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences1999,16,3: | 10
Densification Mechanism of Warm Compaction and Powder Mixture Designing Rules显示文摘By phenomenological analysis of warm compaction, it is found that, compared with the contribution of particle plastical deformation to densification of powder compact, the particle rearrangement is a dominant densification mechanism for powder warm compaction, and the plastical deformation of particles plays an important role in offering accommodating deformation for particle rearrangement and densifying powder compact at the final stage of pressing. In order to attain density gain as high as possible during warm compaction, six rules for designing warm compacting powder mixtures were proposed in detail. | CAO Shun hua,HUANG Bai yun,QU Xuan hui,YI Jian hong(State Key Laboratory for Powder Metallurgy, Central South University of Technology, Changsha 410083, China) | 2000 | Journal of Central South University2000,12,1: | 10
Temperature evolution from the δ ^(18)O record of Hani peat, Northeast China, in the last 14000 years显示文摘From the last deglaciation to the Holocene, the Greenland Ice Core (GISP2) δ 18O records as well as the records of ice-rafted debris on the surface of the North Atlantic have revealed a succession of sudden cooling events on the centennial to millennial scales. However, the temperature proxy records are rarely studied systematically and directly to ensure that this air temperature cooling pattern simultaneously existed in the East Asian Region, in addition to the repeated pattern occurring in the Greater Atlantic Region. A peat cellulose δ 18O temperature proxy record proximately existing for 14000 years was picked up from the Hani peat in Jilin Province, China. It suggests by comparison that the sudden cooling events, such as the Older Dryas, Inter-Allerφd, Younger Dryas, and nine ice-rafted debris events of the North Atlantic, are almost entirely reiterated in the temperature signals of Hani peat cellulose δ 18O. These cooling events show that the repeatedly occurring temperature cooling pattern not only appeared in the North Atlantic Region in the high latitudes, but also in the Northwest Pacific Region in the middle latitudes. The climate change events marking the start of the Holocene Epoch, the Holocene Megathermal, the '8.2 kyr' event, the '4.2 kyr' event, the Medieval Warm Period, and the Little Ice Age are further discussed. The sensitivity response of Hani peat cellulose δ 18O to the land surface temperature and the reason for the age accuracy of peat cellulose 14C are also discussed based on the characteristics of the peat bog environment. | Shibata YASUYUKI | 2009 | Science China Earth Sciences2009,52,7: | 9
CAPABILITIES AND LIMITATIONS OF GRAPES SIMULATIONS OF EXTREME PRECIPITATION IN THE WARM SECTOR OVER A COMPLEX OROGRAPHY显示文摘A comprehensive observational study on a warm sector torrential rain(WSTR) on 20 May 2016 over south China is presented with a pioneering examination of simulation capabilities based on the Global/Regional Assimilation and Prediction System for Tropical Mesoscale Model(GRAPES_TMM). The results show that the meso-scale convective boundary formed between north wind from mountainous areas and the south wind from plain regions as well as the cold outflows boundary both contribute to the convections over Xinyi, and the convections were blocked and stayed stagnant in the trumpet-shaped topography for about 8 hours which eventually caused the torrential rains.Comparative verifications of the observational studies by simulations showed that GRAPES_TMM had better estimations of large-scale frontal precipitation than the local warm-sector torrential rains. The simulations of local torrential rains in the warm sector showed strong biases in precipitation location and amount. GRAPES_TMM also showed overestimated surface winds and a faster moving speed bias, as well as an overall underestimation of the nocturnal surface temperature during the WSTR. This work may lead to several prospective researches of its model improvements on model physics such as land surface process and PBL parameterization. | 钟水新 杨帅 郭春伢 陈子通 | 2019 | Journal of Tropical Meteorology2019,25,2: | 8
INFLUENCE OF HEAT CONTENT ANOMALY IN THE TROPICAL WESTERN PACIFIC WARM POOL REGION ON ONSET OF SOUTH CHINA SEA SUMMER MONSOON显示文摘Based on the Scripps/NODC Joint Environmental Data Analysis Center’s data of heat content in upper ocean (1955--1998) and NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data, the relationship between the heat content anomalies in the warm pool area of the western Pacific (WP) and onset of South China Sea summer monsoon (SCSM) is examined. The results show that the warm pool area (WP) is the place where heat content in the tropical upper layer changes with maximum range and which is most obviously influential to South China Sea summer monsoon.Onset of SCSM is very closely related to the heat content anomaly during the previous period (previous winter and spring) of the WP so that the heat content of March to April in the WP area is a very good predictor for onset of SCSM.When the heat content of the WP area is positive, convection center will be located in the South China Sea-western Pacific with strong convection,a positive anomaly of monsoon circulation and Walker circulation will take place and the subtropical high will be weaker and farther east. Positive anomalous monsoon circulation and Walker circulation will be favorable for westerly and southwesterly flows-SCSM breaks off earlier than normal.Otherwise,SCSM comes later than usual.Large-scale anomalous change of monsoon circulation and Walker circulation seems one of the important mechanisms to influence SCSM. | 陈永利 胡敦欣 | 2003 | Acta meteorologica Sinica2003,17,S1: | 8
Distribution of chlorophyll-a off the Changjiang River and its dynamic cause interpretation显示文摘An interdisciplinary comprehensive survey was conducted in August 2000 with the modern measurement instruments off the Changjiang River. The analysis of the observation data shows that there exist two sources of phytoplankton blooms off the Changjiang River. The one with wider spatial extent and stronger intensity appears in the surface plume due to photosyn- thesis produced by the eutrophication brought by a huge amount of nutrient load via the Chang- jiang River and well light penetration because of lower turbidity seawater. Photosynthesis pro- duces chlorophyll-a (Chl-a), meanwhile releases oxygen and absorbs carbon dioxide, so the high Chl-a concentration distribution corresponds to the distribution of high dissolved oxygen and pH. The other with smaller spatial extent and weaker intensity exists in the thermocline in the Taiwan Warm Current (TWC), but the high Chl-a concentration does not correspond to the high dissolved oxygen and pH, which may be a result of long distance advection by the TWC. The eutrophica- tion associated with the huge amount of nutrient flowing into the sea via the Changjiang River is the main cause of the red tide bloom in the area off the Changjiang River, the red tide that oc- curred along the Fujian and Zhejiang coast can influence the area off the Changjiang River pos- sibly via the TWC. The distributions of current simulated by a three-dimension numerical model support the above conclusion. | ZHU Jianrong | 2005 | Science China Earth Sciences2005,48,7: | 7
NUMERICAL EXPERIMENT OF IMPACT OF SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURE IN SOUTH CHINA SEA AND WARM POOL/WEST PACIFIC ON EAST ASIAN SUMMER MONSOON显示文摘By using the NCAR CCM1 model, we have designed six sensitive experiments, which areincreased and decreased SST (sea surface temperature) by 1℃ each in the SCS (South China Sea)and in the West Pacific warm pool, increased and decreased SST by 1℃ in the warm pool withincreased SST by 1℃ in the SCS. All experiments are integrated from April to July. Comparingwith the control experiment, we have analyzed the anomalies of the wind field at the upper andlower layers, the anomalies of the seasonal variability of the monsoon and precipitation for eachexperiment. In the result, we have found that the SST anomaly (SSTA) in the SCS greatly affectsthe seasonal variability of the SCS monsoon and precipitation in China, especially during the coldperiod of SST in the SCS. The impact of SSTA in the warm pool on SCS monsoon is also found.but is weak as compared to the effect of SST anomaly in the SCS. Besides, its impact on rainfall inChina is uncertain. | 陈隆勋 王予辉 | 1998 | Acta meteorologica Sinica1998,12,2: | 7
Highway Roadway Stability Influenced by Warm Permafrost and Seasonal Frost Action:A Case Study from Glennallen,Alaska,USA显示文摘Ground temperatures from four of the seven extensively studied highway cross-sections near Gulkana/Glennallen,Alaska during 1954~1962,were chosen to better understand the impacts of highway construction on warm permafrost. Both the thawing of permafrost and seasonal frost action impacted on road surface stability for about 6 years until the maximum summer thaw reached about 3 m in depth.Seasonal frost action caused most of the ensuing stability problems.Unusually warm summers and the lengths of time required to re-freeze the active layer were far more important than the average annual air temperatures in determining the temperatures of the underlying shallow permafrost,or the development of taliks. The hypothesized climate warming would slightly and gradually deepen the active layer and the developed under-lying talik, but its effect would be obscured by unusually warm summers,by warmer than usual winters, and by the vari-able lengths of time of the zero curtains. At least one period of climate mini-cooling in the deeper permafrost during the early 20th century was noted. | Max C.Brewer | 2008 | Research in Cold and Arid Regions2008,,1: | 6
| 20 | Impact of the closure of Indonesian seaway on climate: A numerical modeling study显示文摘Using a global OGCM and its relevant coupledocean-atmosphere GCM with the contemporary, 6 MaBPand 14 MaBP oceanic topography, respectively, a series ofnumerical experiments are implemented in order to investi-gate the effect of the north shift of Australian continent onthe tropical oceanic circulation, especially the formation ofthe western Pacific warm pool. The numerical experimentsof the individual OGCM forced by the modern atmosphericcirculation indicate that the closure of Indonesian passageresults in warming in the tropical Pacific Ocean and coolingin the tropical Indian Ocean; furthermore, it also results inchange in source of the Indonesian Through Flow (ITF) wa-ter, e.g. ITF mainly originates from the south Pacific at 14MaBP, but it mainly originates from the north Pacific now.The coupled model shows similar results as the individualOGCM qualitatively. | YU Yongqiang, ZHOU Zuyi & ZHANG Xuehong 1.
