5Acute iatrogenic Budd-Chiari syndrome following hepatectomy for hepatolithiasis:A report of two cases显示文摘Budd-Chiari syndrome(BCS)is defined as hepatic venous outflow obstruction at any level from the small hepatic veins to the junction of the inferior vena cava(IVC)and the right atrium,regardless of the cause of obstruction.We present two cases of acute iatrogenic BCS and our clinical management of these cases.The first case was a 43-year-old woman who developed acute BCS following the implantation of an IVC stent for the correction of stenosis in the IVC after hepatectomy for hepatolithiasis.The second case was a61-year-old woman with complete obstruction of the outflow of hepatic veins during bilateral hepatectomy for hepatolithiasis.Acute iatrogenic BCS should be con-sidered a rare complication following hepatectomy for hepatolithiasis.Awareness of potential hepatic outflow obstructions and timely management are critical to avoid poor outcomes when performing hepatectomy for hepatolithiasis.Xue-Li Bai Yi-Wen Chen Qi Zhang Long-Yun Ye Yuan-Liang Xu Liang Wang Chun-Hui Cao Shun-Liang Gao Mohamed Adil Shah Khoodoruth Bibi Zaina Ramjaun Ai-Qiang Dong Ting-Bo Liang 2013World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,34:1

7Extraction of protein from churpi of yak milk origin:Size reduction,nutraceutical potential and as a wall material for resveratrol显示文摘Resveratrol is a known anti-oxidant and anti-cancer bioactive.The low bioavailability and poor water solubility of resveratrol is a major barrier that restricts its usage in food applications.To overcome these problems,the study presents micro and nano encapsulation of resveratrol in casein micelles extracted from Himalayan cheese(Churpi).Resveratrol loaded casein microparticles(CS-rm)were obtained using emulsion-freeze drying.Whereas,resveratrol loaded casein nanoparticles(CS-rn)were obtained using ultrasonication.Both were characterized using dynamic light scattering(DLS),scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and attenuated total reflectance-fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(ATR-FTIR).DLS revealed hydrodynamic diameter of 71.24μm and 387.023 nm and zeta potential of-22.62 and-28.08 mV for CS-rm and CS-rn.FTIR confirmed the characteristic peaks of resveratrol at 965.4,1380.86,1586.66 and 1607 cm-1 confirmed successful micro and nanoencapsulation.CS-rm displayed high encapsulation efficiency(52.32%)and swelling power(77.90 at pH 3 and 68.65 at pH 7.5)than CS-rn.Both micro and nanoencapsulation protected resveratrol in gastric conditions,however,CS-rn showed high release of resveratrol then CS-rm in simulated intestinal conditions.The anti-oxidant and anti-cancer activity of resveratrol under simulated gastric and intestinal conditions(SGID)was significantly higher(p≤0.05)for CS-rn,showing that nanoencapsulation improved release and nutraceutical profile of resveratrol.Resveratrol loaded nano and micro casein particles can be used a source of fortified protein supplement in growing food and nutraceutical industry.Asir Gani Nairah Noor Adil Gani Jenno Joseph-Leenose-Helen Asima Shah Zanoor ul Ashraf 2022Food Bioscience2022,46,2:0
8Efficacy of Silene arenosa extract on acetylcholinesterase in Bungarus sindanus(krait) venom显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To examine the efficacy of Silene arenosa extract on acetylcholinesterase (AChE) of krait (Bungarus Sindanus) snake venom.METHODS:The present project designed to evaluate the inhibition of AChE by following standard procedures.RESULTS:Statistical analysis of the results showed that Silene arenosa exerted 73%inhibition against the krait venom acetylcholinesterase at fixed substrate acetylcholine (ACh) concentration (0.5 mM).Kinetic analysis using the Lineweaver Burk plot revealed that Silene arenosa caused a competitive type of inhibition i.e.K_(m) values increased from 26.6 to 93.3 mM (26.6%to 93.3%) and V_(max)remained constant in a concentration-dependent manner.Silene arenosa competes with the substrate to bind at the active site of the enzyme.The K_(mapp)of venom AChE for Silene arenosa increased from 60%to 81.6%and the V_(maxapp)remains constant.K_(i)(inhibition constant was estimated to be 48μg for snake venom);while the K_(m)(Michaelis-Menten constant of AChE-substrate into AChE and product) was estimated to be 0.5 mM.The IC_(50)of AchE calculated for Silene arenosa was 67μg.CONCLUSION:The present results suggest that Silene arenosa extract can be considered as an inhibitor of snake venom AChE.Adil Shah Mushtaq Ahmed Naila Sher Nadia Mushtaq Rahmat Ali Khan Fozia Midrarullah 2021Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,3:0
