1Integrated microdevice with a windmill-like hole array for the clog-free,efficient,and self-mixing enrichment of circulating tumor cells显示文摘Circulating tumor cells(CTCs)have tremendous potential to indicate disease progression and monitor therapeutic response using minimally invasive approaches.Considering the limitations of affinity strategies based on their cost,effectiveness,and simplicity,size-based enrichment methods that involve low-cost,label-free,and relatively simple protocols have been further promoted.Nevertheless,the key challenges of these methods are clogging issues and cell aggregation,which reduce the recovery rates and purity.Inspired by the natural phenomenon that the airflow around a windmill is disturbed,in this study,a windmill-like hole array on the SU-8 membrane was designed to perturb the fluid such that cells in a fluid would be able to self-mix and that the pressure acting on cells or the membrane would be dispersed to allow a greater velocity.In addition,based on the advantages of fluid coatings,a lipid coating was used to modify the membrane surface to prevent cell aggregation and clogging of the holes.Under the optimal conditions,recovery rates of 93%and 90%were found for A549 and HeLa cells in a clinical simulation test of our platform with a CTC concentration of 20-100 cells per milliliter of blood.The white blood cell(WBC)depletion rate was 98.7%(n=15),and the CTC detection limit was less than 10 cells per milliliter of blood(n=6).Moreover,compared with conventional membrane filtration,the advantages of the proposed device for the rapid(2 mL/min)and efficient enrichment of CTCs without clogging were shown both experimentally and theoretically.Due to its advantages in the efficient,rapid,uniform,and clog-free enrichment of CTCs,our platform offers great potential for metastatic detection and therapy analyses.Hao Li Jinze Li Zhiqi Zhang Zhen Guo Changsong Zhang Zixu Wang Qiuquan Guo Chao Li Chuanyu Li Jia Yao Anran Zheng Jingyi Xu Qingxue Gao Wei Zhang Lianqun Zhou 2022Microsystems & Nanoengineering2022,8,1:1

7MnS hollow microspheres combined with carbon nanotubes for enhanced performance sodium-ion battery anode显示文摘MnS as anode material for sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)has recently attracted great attention because of the high theoretical capacity,great natural abundance,and low cost.However,it suffers from inferior electrical conductivity and large volume expansion during the charge/discharge process,leading to tremendous damage of electrodes and subsequently fast capacity fading.To mitigate these issues,herein,a three-dimensional(3D)interlaced carbon nanotubes(CNTs)threaded into or between MnS hollow microspheres(hollow MnS/CNTs composite)has been designed and synthesized as an enhanced anode material.It can effectively improve the electrical conductivity,buffer the volume change,and maintain the integrity of the electrode during the charging and discharging process based on the synergistic interaction and the integrative structure.Therefore,when evaluated as anode for SIBs,the hollow MnS/CNTs electrode displays enhanced reve rsible capacity(275 mAh/g at 100 mA/g after 100 cycles),which is much better than that of pure MnS electrode(25 mAh/g at 100 mA/g after 100 cycles)prepared without the addition of CNTs.Even increasing the current density to 500 mA/g,the hollow MnS/CNTs electrode still delivers a five times higher reversible capacity than that of the pure MnS electrode.The rate performance of the hollow MnS/CNTs electrode is also superior to that of pure MnS electrode at various current densities from 50 mA/g to 1000 mA/g.Na Zhang Xin Li Tianyi Hou Jinze Guo Anran Fan Shibo Jin Xiaohong Sun Shu Cai Chunming Zheng 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,5:1

12Environmentally persistent free radicals in PM_(2.5):a review显示文摘Environmentally persistent free radicals(EPFRs)are a new class of pollutants that are long-lived in fine particles(PM_(2.5)),i.e.,their 1/e lifetime ranges from days to months(or even infinite).They are capable of producing harmful reactive oxygen species such as hydroxyl radicals.The redox cycling of EPFRs is considered as an important pathway for PM_(2.5) to induce oxidative stress inside the humans,causing adverse health effects such as respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.Conse-quently,research regarding their toxicity,formation and environmental occurrences in PM_(2.5) has attracted increasing atten-tions globally during the past two decades.However,literature data in this field remain quite limited and discrete.Hence,an extensive review is urgently needed to summarize the current understanding of this topic.In this work,we systematically reviewed the analytical methods and environmental occurrences,e.g.,types,concentrations,and decay behaviors,as well as possible sources of EPFRs in PM_(2.5).The types of pretreatment methods,g-values of common EPFRs and categories of decay processes were discussed in detail.Moreover,great efforts were made to revisit the original data of the published works of EPFRs in airborne particulate matter and provided additional useful information for comparison where possible,e.g.,their mean and standard deviation of g-values,line widths(ΔHp-p),and concentrations.Finally,possible research opportunities were highlighted to further advance our knowledge of this emerging issue.Mengxia Xu Tao Wu Yu-Ting Tang Tong Chen Lavrent Khachatryan Poornima Ramesh Iyer Dengting Guo Anran Chen Miao Lyu Jinhu Li Jiaqi Liu Dan Li Yuxin Zuo Shihan Zhang Yiran Wang Yining Meng Fei Qi 2019Waste Disposal and Sustainable Energy2019,1,3:0
13Efficient Simultaneous Detection of Metabolites Based on Electroenzymatic Assembly Strategy显示文摘Objective and Impact Statement:We describe an electroenzymatic mediator(EM)sensor based on an electroenzymatic assembly peak separation strategy,which can efficiently realize the simultaneous detection of 3 typical cardiovascular disease(CVD)metabolites in 5μl of plasma under one test.This work has substantial implications toward improving the efficiency of chronic CVD assessment.Introduction:Monitoring CVD of metabolites is strongly associated with disease risk.Independent and time-consuming detection in hospitals is unfavorable for chronic CVD management.Methods:The EM was flexibly designed by the cross-linking of electron mediators and enzymes,and 3 EM layers with different characteristics were assembled on one electrode.Electrons were transferred under tunable potential;3 metabolites were quantitatively detected by 3 peak currents that correlated with metabolite concentrations.Results:In this study,the EM sensor showed high sensitivity for the simultaneous detection of 3 metabolites with a lower limit of 0.01 mM.The linear correlation between the sensor and clinical was greater than 0.980 for 242 patients,and the consistency of risk assessment was 94.6%.Conclusion:Metabolites could be expanded by the EM,and the sensor could be a promising candidate as a home healthcare tool for CVD risk assessment.Anran Zheng Chao Li Shengkai Xu Zhen Guo Chuanyu Li Changsong Zhang Jia Yao Zhiqi Zhang Jinze Li Lutao Du Shasha Zhao Chuanxin Wang Wei Zhang Lianqun Zhou 2023Biomedical Engineering Frontiers2023,4,1:0
14New class of high-entropy pseudobrookite titanate with excellent thermal stability,low thermal expansion coefficient,and low thermal conductivity显示文摘As a type of titanate,the pseudobrookite(MTi_(2)O_(5)/M_(2)TiO_(5))exhibits a low thermal expansion coefficient and thermal conductivity,as well as excellent dielectric and solar spectrum absorption properties.However,the pseudobrookite is unstable and prone to decomposing below 1200℃,which limits the practical application of the pseudobrookite.In this paper,the high-entropy pseudobrookite ceramic is synthesized for the first time.The pure high-entropy(Mg,Co,Ni,Zn)Ti_(2)O_(5) with the pseudobrookite structure and the biphasic high-entropy ceramic composed of the highentropy pseudobrookite(Cr,Mn,Fe,Al,Ga)_(2)TiO_(5) and the high-entropy spinel(Cr,Mn,Fe,Al,Ga,Ti)_(3)O_(4) are successfully prepared by the in-situ solid-phase reaction method.The comparison between the theoretical crystal structure of the pseudobrookite and the aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy(AC-STEM)images of high-entropy(Mg,Co,Ni,Zn)Ti_(2)O_(5) shows that the metal ions(M and Ti ions)are disorderly distributed at the A site and the B site in high-entropy(Mg,Co,Ni,Zn)Ti_(2)O_(5),leading to an unprecedentedly high configurational entropy of high-entropy(Mg,Co,Ni,Zn)Ti_(2)O_(5).The bulk high-entropy(Mg,Co,Ni,Zn)Ti_(2)O_(5) ceramics exhibit a low thermal expansion coefficient of 6.35×10^(−6) K^(−1) in the temperature range of 25-1400℃ and thermal conductivity of 1.840 W·m^(−1)·K^(−1) at room temperature,as well as the excellent thermal stability at 200,600,and 1400℃.Owing to these outstanding properties,high-entropy(Mg,Co,Ni,Zn)Ti_(2)O_(5) is expected to be the promising candidate for high-temperature thermal insulation.This work has further extended the family of different crystal structures of high-entropy ceramics reported to date.Jinyu WU Xiaohui MA Xiaoxia HU Liwen YAN Feng HOU Jiachen LIU Anran GUO 2022Journal of Advanced Ceramics2022,11,10:0
15Acupotomy ameliorates subchondral bone absorption and mechanical properties in rabbits with knee osteoarthritis by regulating bone morphogenetic protein 2-Smad1 pathway显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects of acupotomy on the subchondral bone absorption and mechanical properties in rabbits with knee osteoarthritis(KOA).METHODS:The rabbits were divided into blank control,model,acupotomy and electroacupuncture(EA)groups,with 12 rabbits in each.Modified Videman's method was used to prepare KOA model.The acupotomy and EA group were given indicated intervention for 3 weeks.The behavior of rabbits in each group was recorded.Subsequently,cartilage–subchondral bone units were obtained and morphological changes were observed by optical microscope and micro computed tomography.Compression test was used to detect the mechanical properties of subchondral bone,Western blot and real-time polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)were applied to detect the expression of bone morphogenetic protein 2-Smad1(BMP2-Smad1)pathway in subchondral bone.RESULTS:Compared with the control group,rabbits in the KOA group showed lameness,knee pain,and cartilage degradation;the subchondral bone showed active resorption,the mechanical properties decreased significantly and the BMP2-Smad1 pathway downregulated significantly.Both acupotomy and EA intervention could increase the thickness of trabecular bone(Tb.Th),the bone volume fraction(BV/TV)and the thickness of subchondral bone plate,reduce the separation of trabecular bone(Tb.Sp),improve the maximum load and elastic modulus of subchondral bone,and effectively delay cartilage degeneration in KOA rabbits.This process may be achieved through upregulation the related proteins of BMP2-Smad1 pathway.The maximum load and elastic modulus of subchondral bone in the acupotomy group were slightly better than those in the EA group.CONCLUSIONS:Acupotomy could effectively protect cartilage by inhibiting abnormal bone resorption and improving mechanical properties of subchondral bone thorough the related proteins of BMP2-Smad1 pathway in KOA rabbits.Chen Xilin GUO Yan LU Juan QIN Luxue HU Tingyao ZENG Xin WANG Xinyue ZHANG Anran ZHUANG Yuxin ZHONG Honggang GUO Changqing 2023Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2023,43,4:0
