2A Review Featuring Fabrication, Properties and Applications of Carbon Nanotubes(CNTs) Reinforced Polymer and Epoxy Nanocomposites显示文摘Carbon nanotubes(CNTs) have long been recognized as the stiffest and strongest man-made material known to date. In addition, their high electrical conductivity has roused interest in the areas of electrical appliances and communication related applications. However, due to their miniature size, the excellent properties of these nanostructures can only be exploited if they are homogeneously embedded into light-weight matrices as those offered by a whole series of engineering polymers. In order to enhance their chemical affinity to engineering polymer matrices, chemical modification of the graphitic sidewalls and tips is necessary. The mechanical and electrical properties to date of a whole range of nanocomposites of various carbon nanotube contents are also reviewed in this attempt to facilitate progress in this emerging area. Recently, carbonaceous nano-fillers such as graphene and carbon nanotubes(CNTs) play a promising role due to their better structural and functional properties and broad range of applications in every field. Since CNTs usually form stabilized bundles due to van der Waals interactions, they are extremely difficult to disperse and align in a polymer matrix. The biggest issues in the preparation of CNTs reinforced composites reside in efficient dispersion of CNTs into a polymer matrix, the assessment of the dispersion, and the alignment and control of the CNTs in the matrix. An overview of various CNT functionalization methods is given. In particular, CNT functionalization using click chemistry and the preparation of CNT composites employing hyperbranched polymers are stressed as potential techniques to achieve good CNT dispersion. 3Characterization of hepatic progenitors from human fetal liver using CD34 as a hepatic progenitor marker显示文摘AIM: To enrich putative hepatic progenitors from the developing human fetal liver using CD34 as a marker. METHODS: Aborted fetuses of 13-20 wk were used for the isolation of liver cells. The cells were labeled with anti CD34; a marker used for isolating progenitor population and the cells were sorted using magnetic cell sorting. The positive fractions of cells were assessed for specific hepatic markers. Further, these cells were cultured in vitro for long term investigation. RESULTS: Flow cytometric and immunocytochemical analysis for alphafetoprotein (AFP) showed that the majority of the enriched CD34 positive cells were positive for AFP. Furthermore, these enriched cells proliferated in the long term and maintained hepatic characteristics in in vitro culture. CONCLUSION: The study shows that aborted human fetal liver is a potential source for isolation of hepatic progenitors for clinical applications. 6Analgesic,anti-inflammatory and anti-diarrheal activities of ethanolic leaf extract of Typhonium trilobatum L.Schott显示文摘Objective:To explore the efficacy of ethanolic leaf extract of Typhonium trilobatum L.Schott in treating diarrhea,pain and inflammation using experimental models.Methods:In the present study,acetic acid-induced writhing,xylene-induced ear edema and castor oil-imluced diarrlieal model were used to evaluate the analgesic,anti-inflammatory and anti-diarrheal activities,respectively.Acute toxicity test was carried out to fix the safe doses of the plant extract.Results:The plant extract demonstrated a significant inhibition of writhing(P<0.01)compared with the control group in acetic acid-induced writhing test in mice.The extract also significantly inhibited the xylene induced ear edema formation(P<0.05).In anti-diarrheal test,the extract significantly decreased the frequency of defecation and increased the mean latent period(P<0.0l)in castor oil-induced diarrheal model mice at the doses of 250 and 500 mg/kg body weight.Conclusions:These results suggest that the extract possesses significant analgesic,anti-inflammatory and anti-diarrheal activities that support to the ethnopharmacologicl uses of this plant.Khadem Ali Ayesha Ashraf Nripendra Nath Biswas 2012Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,9:6
7Comparison of choroidal vessel thickness in children and adult eyes by enhanced-depth imaging optical coherence tomography imaging显示文摘AIM: To evaluate choroidal thickness, medium choroidal vessel thickness(MCVT) and large choroidal vessel thickness(LCVT) in normal children and adult subjects.METHODS: Manual measurements of subfoveal choroidal thickness(SFCT), MCVT and LCVT at subfoveal and 750 μm nasal and temporal to fovea locations were completed on enhanced-depth imaging optical coherence tomography(EDI-OCT) scans of normal children and adult subjects.RESULTS: Fifty adult and fifty-seven child subjects were included in the study(including 80 adult and 103 child eyes). Mean(±SD) SFCT of adult and children eyes in the study was 309.3±95.7 μm and 279.3±50.4 μm respectively. 8Magnetically treated water irrigation effect on turnip seed germination,seedling growth and enzymatic activities显示文摘Pre-sowing magnetic field seed treatment effects on biological characteristics of vegetables and crops have been studied well.However,studies reporting irrigation with magnetically treated water are scanty.Therefore,the effect of irrigation with magnetically treated water on turnip seed germination,seedling growth and enzymatic activities was evaluated.The tap water was treated at 211 mT for 30,45 and 60 min and used for irrigation of turnip seed and seedlings.Uniform and healthy turnip seed was sown under randomized complete block design(RCBD).The germination,emergence rate index,vigor index I and vigor index II increased up to 28.33%,11.54%,57.59%and 32.26%,respectively.The growth parameters such as seedling lengths,fresh&dry weights,chlorophyll content were also enhanced in response of irrigation with magnetically treated water.The seedlings irrigated with magnetically treated water showed 28.92%,11.36%and 14.76%higher protein content,alpha amylase and protease activities,respectively vs control.Results revealed that irrigation with magnetically treated water has potential to improve turnip germination,seedling growth and enzymatic activities and this study is also extendable to other vegetables and crops for the improvement of germination and growth.Zia ul Haq Munawar Iqbal Yasir Jamil Hafeez Anwar Ayesha Younis Muhammad Arif M.Zeshan Fareed Fida Hussain 2016Information Processing in Agriculture2016,3,2:5
9Thermal, Mechanical and Electrical Studies of Novel Shape Memory Polyurethane/Polyaniline Blends显示文摘Shape memory polymer(SMP) blends based on polyurethane(PU) and polyaniline(PANI) were prepared via chemical in situ polymerization process. The thermal, mechanical, electrical and shape memory properties were investigated. The structural characterization and morphology of the polymer blends were inspected by Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM), respectively. The 1 wt% of PANI loading enhanced the thermal stability of the system up to 339 °C. According to differential scanning calorimetry(DSC), the glass transition temperature(Tg) and melting temperature(Tm) of PU/PANI blends increased with the polyaniline loading(0.1 wt%-1 wt%). Improved mechanical properties such as tensile strength and Young's modulus of PU matrix were also observed with PANI. Moreover, the electrical conductivity of PU/PANI blends was also found to be a function of PANI loading. 10玫瑰茄花萼乙醇提取物的抗痛觉敏感、抗炎及止泻作用的实验研究(英文)显示文摘目的:研究玫瑰茄(Hibiscus sabdariffa)花萼的乙醇提取物的抗痛觉敏感、抗炎及止泻作用。方法:使用95%乙醇提取玫瑰茄花萼干品用于测定其功效。用小鼠扭体实验检测其抗痛觉敏感作用,二甲苯致耳水肿模型小鼠检测其抗炎症作用,蓖麻油致腹泻模型小鼠检测其止泻作用。结果:在乙酸致小鼠扭体实验中,玫瑰茄花萼的乙醇提取物对小鼠扭体的抑制与空白对照组相比差异有统计学意义(P<0.01),对二甲苯致耳水肿模型小鼠的耳水肿的抑制与空白对照组相比差异有统计学意义(P<0.01),且显著减少了蓖麻油致腹泻小鼠的排便次数并增加了排便间隔时间(P<0.01)。结论:本研究的结果证实了玫瑰茄花萼的乙醇提取物具有显著的抗痛觉敏感、抗炎及止泻作用,验证了其在传统医学中的应用。Md.Khadem Ali Ayesha Ashraf Nripendra Nath Biswas Utpal Kumar Karmakar Shamima Afroz 2011中西医结合学报2011,9,6:4
11Oxidative desulfurization of dibenzothiophene over Fe promoted Co–Mo/Al_2O_3 and Ni–Mo/Al_2O_3 catalysts using hydrogen peroxide and formic acid as oxidants显示文摘This work reports the enhancing effect of a highly cost effective and efficient metal, Fe, incorporation to Co or Ni based Mo/Al_2O_3 catalysts in the oxidative desulfurization(ODS) of dibenzothiophene(DBT) using H_2O_2 and formic acid as oxidants. The influence of operating parameters i.e. reaction time, catalyst dose, reaction temperature and oxidant amount on oxidation process was investigated. Results revealed that 99% DBT conversion was achieved at 60 °C and 150 min reaction time over Fe–Ni–Mo/Al_2O_3. Fe tremendously enhanced the ODS activity of Co or Ni based Mo/Al_2O_3 catalysts following the activity order: Fe–Ni–Mo/Al_2O_3 NFe–Co–Mo/Al_2O_3 NNi–Mo/Al_2O_3 NCo–Mo/Al_2O_3, while H_2O_2 exhibited higher oxidation activity than formic acid over all catalyst systems. Insight about the surface morphology and textural properties of fresh and spent catalysts were achieved using scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD), energy dispersive X-ray(EDX)analysis, Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy(AAS) and BET surface area analysis, which helped in the interpretation of experimental data. 13Structural and optical properties of thermally reduced graphene oxide for energy devices显示文摘Natural intercalation of the graphite oxide, obtained as a product of Hummer's method, via ultra-sonication of water dispersed graphite oxide has been carried out to obtain graphene oxide(GO) and thermally reduced graphene oxide(RGO).Here we report the effect of metallic nitrate on the oxidation properties of graphite and then formation of metallic oxide(MO) composites with GO and RGO for the first time. We observed a change in the efficiency of the oxidation process as we replaced the conventionally used sodium nitrate with that of nickel nitrate Ni(NO_3)_2, cadmium nitrate Cd(NO_3)_2,and zinc nitrate Zn(NO_3)_2. The structural properties were investigated by x-ray diffraction and observed the successful formation of composite of MO–GO and MO–RGO(M = Zn, Cd, Ni). We sought to study the effect on the oxidation process through optical characterization via UV-Vis spectroscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy.Moreover, Thermo Gravimetric Analysis(TGA) was carried out to confirm > 90% weight loss in each process thus proving the reliability of the oxidation cycles. We have found that the nature of the oxidation process of graphite powder and its optical and electrochemical characteristics can be tuned by replacing the sodium nitrate(NaNO_3) by other metallic nitrates as Cd(NO_3)_2, Ni(NO_3)_2, and Zn(NO_3)_2. 15Non-invasive splenic parameters of portal hypertension:Assessment and utility显示文摘BACKGROUND Portal hypertension is a major complication of cirrhosis that is associated with significant morbidity and mortality.The present gold-standard method to risk stratify and observe cirrhosis patients with portal hypertension is hepatic venous pressure gradient measurement or esophagogastroduodenoscopy.However,these methods are invasive,carry a risk of complications and are associated with significant patient discomfort.Therefore,non-invasive splenic parameters are of clinical interest as potential useful markers in determining the presence of portal hypertension.However,diagnostic accuracy and reproducibility remains unvalidated.AIM To assess the diagnostic accuracy of spleen stiffness,area and diameter in predicting the presence of portal hypertension.METHODS Of 50 patients with varying liver disease pathologies were prospectively recruited from the St.Mary’s Hospital Liver Unit in London;25 with evidence of portal hypertension and 25 with no evidence of portal hypertension.Liver stiffness,spleen stiffness,spleen diameter and spleen area were measured using the Philips Affiniti 70 elastography point quantification point shear wave elastography system.The aspartate aminotransferase-to-platelet-ratio-index(APRI)score was also calculated.Performance measures,univariate and multivariate logistic regression were used to evaluate demographic,clinical and elastography variables.Interclass correlation coefficient was used to determine the reproducibility of splenic area and diameter.RESULTS On univariate and individual performance,platelet count[area under the receiver operating characteristic(AUROC)0.846,P value<0.001],spleen area(AUROC 0.828,P value=0.002)and APRI score(AUROC 0.827,P value<0.001)were the most accurate variables in identifying the presence of portal hypertension.On multivariate logistic regression models constructed,the combination of spleen area greater than 57.90 cm2 and platelet count less than 126×10^9 had 63.2%sensitivity and 100%specificity,100%positive predictive value and 100%negative predictive value.An alternative combination of spleen stiffness greater than 29.99 kPa and platelet count less than 126×10^9 had 88%sensitivity,75%specificity,78.6%positive predictive value and 85.7%negative predictive value.An interclass correlation coefficient value of 0.98(95%CI:0.94-0.99,P value<0.001)and 0.96(95%CI:0.91-0.99,P value<0.001)were determined for inter-operator variability for spleen area and diameter respectively.CONCLUSION Spleen area,spleen stiffness and platelet count may be useful markers to assess the presence of portal hypertension in patients of various etiologies.Ayesha Karim Ahmad Sebastiana Atzori James Maurice Simon D Taylor-Robinson Adrian KP Lim 2020World Journal of Hepatology2020,12,11:2

18Molecular hallmarks of long non-coding RNAs in aging and its significant effect on aging-associated diseases显示文摘Aging is linked to the deterioration of many physical and cognitive abilities and is the leading risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease. The growing aging population is a significant healthcare problem globally that researchers must investigate to better understand the underlying aging processes. Advances in microarrays and sequencing techniques have resulted in deeper analyses of diverse essential genomes(e.g., mouse, human, and rat) and their corresponding cell types, their organ-specific transcriptomes, and the tissue involved in aging. Traditional gene controllers such as DNA-and RNA-binding proteins significantly influence such programs, causing the need to sort out long non-coding RNAs, a new class of powerful gene regulatory elements. However, their functional significance in the aging process and senescence has yet to be investigated and identified. Several recent researchers have associated the initiation and development of senescence and aging in mammals with several well-reported and novel long non-coding RNAs. 20High Refractive Index Ti3O5 Films for Dielectric Metasurfaces显示文摘Ti_3 O_5 films are deposited with the help of an electron beam evaporator for their applications in metasurfaces.The film of subwavelength(632 nm) thickness is deposited on a silicon substrate and annealed at 400°C. The ellipsometr.y result shows a high refractive index above 2.5 with the minimum absorption coefficient in the visible region, which is necessary for high efficiency of transparent metasurfaces. Atomic force microscopy analysis is employed to measure the roughness of the as-deposited films. It is seen from micrographs that the deposited films are very smooth with the minimum roughness to prevent scattering and absorption losses for metasurface devices. The absence of grains and cracks can be seen by scanning electron microscope analysis, which is favorable for electron beam lithography. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy reveals the transmission and reflection obtained from the film deposited on glass substrates.
