| 1 | Induction of apoptosis by artemisinin relieving the severity of inflammation in caerulein-induced acute pancreatitis显示文摘AIM:To observe the apoptosis and oncosis of pancreatic acinar cells and secondary inflammatory reaction in pancreatic tissue from rats with acute pancreatitis(AP),and the influences of artemisinin on them.METHODS:AP was induced by 4 intraperitoneal injections of caerulein at 1 h intervals.To induce apoptosis,solution of artemisinin(50 mg/kg)was given intraperitoneally 1,12,24 and 36 h after the last caerulein injection.Histological examination of impairment of pancreatic tissue and detection of serum amylase were performed to evaluate the severity of acute pancreatitis.Apoptosis and oncosis were detected with acridine orange(AO)and ethylene dibromide(EB)staining.Caspase-3 and myeloperoxidase(MPO)activity were measured by colorimetric assay.Nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)activation was detected by flow cytometry.Macrophage inflammatory protein-1α(MIP-1α)protein was measured by Western blot.Interleukin-1β(IL-1β)mRNA was detected by RT-PCR.RESULTS:Addition of artemisinin increased the number of apoptotic cells(11.7% ± 1.4% vs 6.3% ± 0.7%,P < 0.05),while reduced the number of oncotic cells(13.0% ± 2.4% vs 17.5% ± 2.2%,P < 0.05).The activity of caspase-3 speeded up(1.52 ± 0.21 vs 1.03 ± 0.08,P < 0.05),the pancreas pathological impairment was relieved(3.0 ± 0.5 vs 4.0 ± 0.5,P < 0.05)and the level of serum amylase decreased(5642 ± 721 U/dL vs 7821 ± 653 U/dL,P < 0.05).The activation of NF-κB(29% ± 4.1% vs 42% ± 5.8%),MIP-1α protein(3.7 ± 0.5 vs 5.8 ± 0.7),MPO(0.52 ± 0.06 U/g vs 0.68 ± 0.09 U/g),IL-1β mRNA(1.7 ± 0.3 vs 2.4 ± 0.4)in the apoptosis inducing group was obviously decreased(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:Inducing apoptosis can relieve pathological impairment and inflammatory reaction in AP rats. | Ming Zhao Dong-Bo Xue Biao Zheng Wei-Hui Zhang Shang-Ha Pan Bei Sun | 2007 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2007,13,42: | 14 |
| 2 | Evaluation of Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide Fumigation as a Method for the Bio-decontamination of the High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter Unit显示文摘Objective To evaluate the performance of vaporized hydrogen peroxide (VHP) for the bio-decontamination of the high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter unit. Methods Self-made or commercially available bioindicators were placed at designated locations in the HEPA filter unit under VHP fumigation. The spores on coupons were then extracted by 0.5 h submergence in eluent followed by 200-time violent knocks. Results Due to the presence of HEPA filter in the box, spore recovery from coupons placed at the bottom of the filter downstream was significantly higher than that from coupons placed at the other locations. The gap of decontamination efficiency between the top and the bottom of the filter downstream became narrower with the exposure time extended. The decontamination efficiency of the bottom of the filter downstream only improved gently with the injection rate of H2O2 increased and the decontamination efficiency decreased instead when the injection rate exceeded 2.5 g/min. The commercially available bioindicators were competent to indicate the disinfection efficiency of VHP for the HEPA filter unit. Conclusion The HEPA filter unit is more difficult than common enclosure to decontaminate using VHP fumigation. Complete decontamination can be achieved by extending fumigation time. | 3 | Chevrier's Field Mouse(Apodemus chevrieri) and Père David's Vole(Eothenomys melanogaster) in China Carry Orthohepeviruses that form Two Putative Novel Genotypes Within the Species Orthohepevirus C显示文摘Hepatitis E virus(HEV)is the prototype of the family Hepeviridae and the causative agent of common acute viral hepatitis.Genetically diverse HEV-related viruses have been detected in a variety of mammals and some of them may have zoonotic potential.In this study,we tested 278 specimens collected from seven wild small mammal species in Yunnan province,China,for the presence and prevalence of orthohepevirus by broad-spectrum reverse transcription(RT)-PCR.HEV-related sequences were detected in two rodent species,including Chevrier’s field mouse(Apodemus chevrieri,family Muridae)and Père David’s vole(Eothenomys melanogaster,family Cricetidae),with the infection rates of 29.20%(59/202)and 7.27%(4/55),respectively.Further four representative full-length genomes were generated:two each from Chevrier’s field mouse(named Rd HEVAc14 and Rd HEVAc86)and Père David’s vole(Rd HEVEm40 and Rd HEVEm67).Phylogenetic analyses and pairwise distance comparisons of whole genome sequences and amino acid sequences of the gene coding regions showed that orthohepeviruses identified in Chinese Chevrier’s field mouse and Père David’s vole belonged to the species Orthohepevirus C but were highly divergent from the two assigned genotypes:HEV-C1 derived from rat and shrew,and HEV-C2 derived from ferret and possibly mink.Quantitative real-time RT-PCR demonstrated that these newly discovered orthohepeviruses had hepatic tropism.In summary,our work discovered two putative novel genotypes orthohepeviruses preliminarily named HEVC3 and HEV-C4 within the species Orthohepevirus C,which expands our understanding of orthohepevirus infection in the order Rodentia and gives new insights into the origin,evolution,and host range of orthohepevirus. | Bo Wang Wen Li Ji-Hua Zhou Bei Li Wei Zhang Wei-Hong Yang Hong Pan Li-Xia Wang Thomas Bock Zheng-Li Shi Yun-Zhi Zhang Xing-Lou Yang | 2018 | Virologica Sinica2018,33,1: | 6 |
| 4 | Single-center Experience in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Hepatic Perivascular Epithelioid Cell Neoplasm显示文摘Background and Aims:Perivascular epithelioid cell neo-plasms(PEComas)are a rare type of mesenchymal neo-plasm and their preoperative diagnosis is challenging.In this study,we summarized the experience from a single medical center to study the examinations,clinical presen-tations,and pathological and histological characteristics of PEComas in the liver in order to optimize overall un-derstanding of the diagnosis and treatment of these neo-plasms.Methods:We conducted a retrospective analysis to investigate the clinical and pathological characteristics as well as imaging presentations of 75 patients diagnosed with hepatic PEComa in The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhe-jiang University between April 2010 and April 2020.Re-sults:Among the 75 patients,52 were women,and the median age was 48 years.Most patients had no specific symptoms,and two were admitted to the hospital for a second time owing to relapse.All patients underwent surgi-cal resection.Histologically,38 patients had classical angio-myolipoma(AML)and 37 had epithelioid AML.The PECo-mas were accompanied by positive immunohistochemical expression of HMB45,Melan-A,and smooth muscle actin.Follow-up data were obtained from 47 of the total 75 pa-tients,through October 2020.Two patients had metastasis after surgery.Conclusions:AML is the most common type of hepatic PEComa.There are no specific symptoms of he-patic PEComa,and serological examinations and imaging modalities for accurate preoperative diagnosis are lacking.Epithelioid AML should be considered a tumor of uncertain malignant potential;however,the prognosis of PEComa af-ter resection is promising. | Junjun Jia Jia Luo Cheng-Gen Pan Guomei Ge Meibao Feng Bei Zou Li Liu Shusen Zheng Jun Yu | 2022 | Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2022,10,1: | 5 |

| 12 | A qualitative study of perspectives on access to tuberculosis health services in Xigaze, China显示文摘Background:Tuberculosis(TB)is a major global health threat and the leading infectious disease cause of death worldwide.Access to and retention in TB care remains a challenge for patients,particularly those living in rural and remote settings.This qualitative study explored barriers and facilitators to accessing and maintaining contact with TB care services in communities in Xigaze(Shigatse)prefecture,Xizang Autonomous Region(Tibet Autonomous Region),China from the perspective of persons impacted by TB.Methods:We conduced in-depth interviews with 23 participants impacted by TB in four rural districts in Xigaze prefecture,Xizang Autonomous Region,China between April 2019 and November 2020.Interviews were conducted in Tibetan and Mandarin,transcribed in Mandarin and translated into English.Transcripts were checked against recordings by native Tibetan and Mandarin speakers.QSR NVivo12 software was used for framework analysis guided by an access to care conceptual framework by Levesque et al.Results:Overall patients reported low awareness of and an indiferent attitude towards TB,although all reported understanding the need to adhere to treatment.Participants reported complex pathways to care,often requiring visits to multiple healthcare facilities.Some participants reported visiting traditional Tibetan medicine(TTM)providers.Participants reported various barriers to accessing care including challenges physically reaching care,out-of-pocket payments for tests,diagnostics and transport.Barriers to maintaining care included medication side efects and worry about treatment efectiveness.Enablers to accessing care identifed included knowledge or past experience with TB,integrated models of TTM and western care,supportive village doctors who conducted home visits,free TB treatment and other subsidies,as well as having family support with care and social support as barriers and facilitators to maintaining treatment.Conclusions:We identifed barriers and facilitators to accessing services in rural communities in Xigaze from the perspective of persons impacted by TB.Challenges include complex pathways to care,travel distances,wait times and low awareness.Tuberculosis care in the region could be strengthened by ongoing culturally tailored educational campaigns to increase awareness,partnerships with TTM providers,providing comprehensive treatment subsidies and strengthening the role of family members in comprehensive TB care. | Victoria Haldane Zhitong Zhang Qi Ma Tingting Yin Bei Zhang Yinlong Li Qiuyu Pan Katie N.Dainty Elizabeth Rea Pande Pasang Xiaolin Wei Jun Hu | 2021 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2021,10,5: | 1 |

| 15 | Juvenile hormone regulates photoperiod-mediated male reproductive diapause via the methoprene-tolerant gene in the ladybeetle Harmonia axyridis显示文摘Juvenile hormone (JH) absence induces photoperiod-mediated reproductive diapause, which is characterized by reproductive cessation. Although the role of methoprene-tolerant (Met)-mediated JH signaling in photoperiod-mediated female reproduction has been well documented, its role in male reproduction remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the role of JH in regulating photoperiod-mediated development of the male internal reproductive system (IRS) in the predatory ladybeetle Harmonia axyridis (Pallas). In a previous study, we found that adult male H. axyridis reared under either a short-day (SD) or long-day (LD) photoperiod had obvious differences in IRS development, but we were unable to identify the regulators of male reproductive diapause. In this study, we found that beetles reared under an SD photoperiod had significantly lower JH titer and a relatively undeveloped male IRS compared with those reared under an LD photoperiod. Additionally, application of the JH analog (JHA) methoprene promoted IRS development. Furthermore, Met knockdown strongly blocked JH signaling in males reared under the LD photoperiod, thereby slowing IRS development. Moreover, exogenous JHA did not reverse the suppressed development of the male IRS caused by Met knockdown. | 20 | Propelling polysulfide redox by Fe_(3)C-FeN heterostructure@nitrogendoped carbon framework towards high-efficiency Li-S batteries显示文摘Lithium-sulfur(Li-S) batteries hold great promise in next-generation high-energy-density energy storage systems,but the intractable shuttle effect and the sluggish redox kinetics of polysulfides hinder the practical implementation of Li-S batteries.Here,heterostructured Fe_(3)C-FeN nanoparticles dotted in the threedimensional-ordered nitrogen-doped carbon framework(Fe_(3)C-FeN@NCF) were synthesized by molecular engineering combined with heterointerface engineering,and were applied to regulate the immobilization-diffusion-conversion behavior of polar polysulfides.It is experimentally and theoretically demonstrated that the heterointerface between Fe_(3)C and FeN exhibits high sulfiphilicity and high electronic/ionic conductivity,thus effectively capturing polysulfides and accelerating the bidirectional conversion of sulfur species.Meanwhile,the holey carbon framework functions as the scaffold to highly disperse binary nanoparticles,ensuring the sufficient exposure of active sites and the easy accessibility for lithium ions and electrons.By virtue of these synergistic merits,the Li-S batteries based on Fe_(3)CFeN@NCF-modified separators afford excellent electrochemical performances including a high rate capacity of 858 mA h g^(-1)at 2 C and a low capacity decay rate of 0.07% per cycle after 800 cycles at 1C This work provides inspiration for the design of heterostructured compounds and sheds light on the potential of heterostructure in high-efficiency Li-S batteries. | Mengdi Zhang Jiawei Mu Yanan Li Yuanyuan Pan Zhiliang Dong Bei Chen Shiwei Guo Wenhan Yuan Haiqiu Fang Han Hu Mingbo Wu | 2023 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,3: | 1 |
