Synthesis of condensed polynuclear aromatic resin from furfural extract oil of reduced-pressure route Ⅱ显示文摘As an industrial byproduct of oil refining, furfural extract oil from reduced-pressure route Ⅱ with high aromatic content was used to prepare heat-resistant condensed polynuclear aromatic(COPNA) resin for the first time. The basic properties of furfural extract oil and the resultant COPNA resin were characterized by infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy(1H-NMR),thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) and elemental analysis(EA).The result showed that heat treated furfural extract oil was successfully used for the synthesis of heat-resistant COPNA resin. The average structural parameters of raw materials and prepared resin were calculated by the improved Brown-Ladner method, and the averaged molecular structure of the resin was obtained. The reaction mechanism for the synthesis of COPNA resin was suggested as an acid-catalyzed positive ion type polymerization. | Wu Mingbo Jiang Wei Wang Yuwei Li Shibin Zheng Jingtang | 2013 | Petroleum Science2013,10,4: | 10
Synthesis and Characterization of Condensed Polynuclear Aromatic Resin Derived from Ethylene Tar显示文摘As a kind of low-cost and readily available industrial byproduct, ethylene tar (ET) was for the first time utilized for the preparation of heat-resistant condensed polynuclear aromatic resin (COPNAR). The basic properties of ET and the resulted COPNAR were characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, TGA and elemental analysis. The test results showed that ET with high aromatic content (>50%) was suitable for the synthesis of COPNAR with superior heat resistance. The average molecular structure of ET was obtained by means of the improved Brown-Ladner method, and the reaction mechanism was considered as an acid-catalyzed positive ion-typed polymerization. Our findings have provided a new route to develop ET into technology-added heat-resistant resins. | Wu Mingbo Shi Yangyang Li Shibin Wang Yuwei Tan Minghui Wang Ding Zheng Jingtang Tsubaki Noritatsu | 2012 | China Petroleum Processing & Petrochemical Technology2012,14,4: | 7
A hybrid LES (Large Eddy Simulation)/assumed sub-grid PDF (Probability Density Function) model for supersonic turbulent combustion显示文摘A hybrid LES (Large Eddy Simulation)/assumed sub-grid PDF (Probability Density Function) closure model has been devel-oped for supersonic turbulent combustion. Scalar transport equations for all species in a given chemical kinetic mechanism were solved, which are necessary in the supersonic combustion where the non-equilibrium chemistry is essentially involved. The clipped Gaussian PDF of temperature and multivariate ? PDF of composition were used to close the sub-grid chemical sources that appear in the conservation equations. The sub-grid variances of temperature and composition were constructed based on scale similarity approach. A semi-implicit approach based on the PDF model was proposed to tackle the resulting numerical stiffness associated with finite rate chemistry. The model was applied to simulate a supersonic, coaxial H2-air burner, where both the mean and rms (root mean square) results were compared with the experimental data. In general, good agree-ments were achieved, which indicated that the present sub-grid PDF method could work well in simulating supersonic turbu-lent combustion. Moreover, the calculation showed that the sub-grid fluctuations of temperature and major species in the combustion region were of the order of 10%-20% of their rms, while the sub-grid fluctuation of hydroxyl might be as high as 40%-50% of its rms. | WANG HongBo QIN Ning SUN MingBo WU HaiYan WANG ZhenGuo | 2011 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,10: | 6
Improvements of heat resistance and adhesive property of condensed poly-nuclear aromatic resin via epoxy resin modification显示文摘A bisphenol epoxy resin was used as modifier to increase the heat resistance of condensed poly-nuclear aromatic(COPNA) resin. The basic properties of COPNA resin and modified resin were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR), nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy(1H-NMR), vapor pressure osmometry(VPO) and elemental analysis(EA). Average structural parameters of resins were calculated by the improved Brown-Ladner method, and heat resistance of resins was tested by thermogravimetric analysis(TGA). The chemical structure, mechanical properties and heat resistivity of the resin/graphite composites prepared with different resins were compared. The results show that the adhesive property and heat resistance of COPNA resin can be remarkably improved by addition of 5 wt.% epoxy resin. The reason is that the reactions between epoxy groups of epoxy resin and hydroxyl groups of COPNA resin improve the heat resistance and adhesive property of COPNA resin. Electric motor brushes with good mechanical properties and low electrical resistivity were successfully prepared by using the modified resin as binder. | Wu Mingbo Wang Yuwei Jiang Wei Li Shibin Sun Qiqian Zheng Jingtang Qiu Jieshan | 2014 | Petroleum Science2014,11,4: | 5
Nonlinear analysis of combustion oscillations in a cavity-based supersonic combustor显示文摘Combustion oscillations in a supersonic combustor with hydrogen injection upstream of a cavity flameholder are investigated using nonlinear analysis based on experimental measurements.Time series of both flamefront and wall pressure are acquired, and the state space reconstruction approach is adopted to characterize the nonlinear behavior of the combustion oscillations.Three overall equivalence ratios,0.038,0.076 and 0.11,are considered. The existence of a chaotic source in the present combustion system is demonstrated. The correlation dimension and the largest Lyapunov exponent tend to become larger with the increasing equivalence ratio, indicating a more complicated and unstable combustion system. In particular,it is found that the correlation dimension for the highest equivalence ratio is much greater than those of the two lower equivalence ratios. Two possible reasons responsible for the observed nonlinear behaviors are identified. One is the shock-related instabilities and the other is the transition of combustion stabilization mode between the cavity and jet-wake stabilized mode. | WANG HongBo WANG ZhenGuo SUN MingBo WU HaiYan | 2013 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,5: | 5
Bias-drift-free Mach–Zehnder modulators based on a heterogeneous silicon and lithium niobate platform显示文摘Optical modulators have been and will continue to be essential devices for energy-and cost-efficient optical communication networks.Heterogeneous silicon and lithium niobate modulators have demonstrated promising performances of low optical loss, low drive voltage, and large modulation bandwidth. However,DC bias drift is a major drawback of optical modulators using lithium niobate as the active electro-optic material. Here,we demonstrate high-speed and bias-drift-free Mach–Zehnder modulators based on the heterogeneous silicon and lithium niobate platform. The devices combine stable thermo-optic DC biases in silicon and ultra-fast electro-optic modulation in lithium niobate, and exhibit a low insertion loss of 1.8 d B,a low half-wave voltage of 3 V,an electro-optic modulation bandwidth of at least 70 GHz,and modulation data rates up to 128 Gb/s. | SHIHAO SUN MINGBO HE MENGYUE XU SHENGQIAN GAO ZIYAN CHEN XIAN ZHANG ZILIANG RUAN XIONG WU LIDAN ZHOU LIN LIU CHAO LU CHANGJIAN GUO LIU LIU SIYUAN YU XINLUN CAI | 2020 | Photonics Research2020,8,12: | 5
Morphology observation for surface orange peel and fracture in tension sample of aluminum-alloy sheet and characterization of nano hardness显示文摘The tension property of aluminum-alloy sheet with different microstructures is measured, and the surface and tension fracture morphology of tension sample with and without orange peel are observed by using scanning electron microscope(SEM).Surface roughness and nano hardness of tension sample are measured. The results show that the average elongation of the samples with orange peel is lower than that without orange peel;especially the r value of perpendicular to the rolling direction is much lower than that without orange peel. The tension surface of the orange peel samples is very rough;various parameters of surface roughness are higher.Under the observation of SEM,a wider sliding band with a micro crack on the surface of orange peel sample can be found. The various parameters of surface roughness without orange peel sample are near to zero, the sliding band is narrow and without micro cracks. The dimple width in tensile fracture of orange peel sample is larger than that without orange peel sample, but shear lip is narrower. The nano hardness testing results show that samples with orange peel behave high elastic modulus, high hardness, and high maximum load, but low plastic deformation depth. These mentioned features can completely describe surface and fracture morphology of tension samples with orange peel. | Ma Mingtu Mei Huasheng Lu Hongzhou Yang Hongya Wu Emei Zhou Mingbo | 2012 | Engineering Sciences2012,10,6: | 4
Three-dimensional printing of high-mass loading electrodes for energy storage applications显示文摘Nanostructured materials afford a promising potential for many energy storage applications because of their extraordinary electrochemical properties. However, the remarkable electrochemical energy storage performance could only be harvested at a relatively low mass-loading via the traditional electrode fabrication process, and the scale of these materials into commercial-level mass-loading remains a daunting challenge because the ion diffusion kinetics deteriorates rapidly along with the increased thickness of the electrodes.Very recently,three-dimensional(3D)printing,a promising additive manufacturing technology, has been considered as an emerging method to address the aforementioned issues where the 3D printed electrodes could possess elaborately regulated architectures and rationally organized porosity. As a result, the outstanding electrochemical performance has been widely observed in energy storage devices made of 3D printed electrodes of high-mass loading. In this review,we systemically introduce the basic working principles of various 3D printing technologies and their practical applications to manufacture highmass loading electrodes for energy storage devices.Challenges and perspectives in 3D printing technologies for the construction of electrodes at the current stage are also outlined, aiming to offer some useful opinions for further development for this prosperous field. | Hao Yang Zhaoxuan Feng Xiaoling Teng Lu Guan Han Hu Mingbo Wu | 2021 | InfoMat2021,3,6: | 4
Efficient CO_(2) electroreduction over N-doped hieratically porous carbon derived from petroleum pitch显示文摘Developing of economic and efficient catalysts is critical for the application of electroreduction of carbon dioxide to highly valuable chemicals.Herein,we present a facile method to synthesize N-doped hieratically porous carbon through pyrolysis of petroleum pitch followed by ammonia etching. We found mesopores are favored formation by removing of asphaltene from petroleum pitch during the carbonation process.Simultaneously, ammonia etching can not only increase the pyridinic-N content, but also upgrade the ratio of meso-to micro-pores of carbon materials.Using the N-doped hieratically porous carbon as catalyst for carbon dioxide electroreduction, the Faradaic efficiency of carbon monoxide reaches 83%at-0.9 V vs.the reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE)in 0.1 M KHCO_(3).This superior performance is attributed to the synergistic effects of highly pyridinic-N content in conjunction with the hieratically porous architecture, rendering abundant exposed and accessible active sites for electroreduction of CO_(2).Our work provides a new strategy for the large-scale preparation of high-performance,low-cost catalysts for CO_(2) electroreduction. | Hui Ning Dianliang Guo Xiaoshan Wang Zhonghao Tan Wenhang Wang Zhongxue Yang Linqing Li Qingshan Zhao Jian Hao Mingbo Wu | 2021 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,5: | 3
Process and Kinetics of Pyrolysis of COPNA Resin Synthesized from FCC Slurry显示文摘The mechanism and kinetics of pyrolysis of condensed poly-nuclear aromatic(COPNA) resins were investigated by non-isothermal thermogravimetry/derivative thermogravimetry measurements at various heating rates(10, 20 and 30 K/min) in nitrogen atmosphere. The changes in the functional groups, microstructure, and elemental composition of COPNA resins heated to different temperatures(200, 400, and 600 ℃) were investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and elemental analysis, respectively. The results of the pyrolytic experiments indicated that the pyrolysis process could be divided into three stages: an initial weight loss stage ranging from 225—450 ℃, a second weight loss stage ranging from 450—560 ℃, and a thermally stable stage occurring above 560 ℃. The heating rate had little effect on the pyrolysis process, and thermogravimetric parameters of COPNA resin, such as temperature at initial weight loss stage(Ti), temperature at final weight loss stage(Tf) and temperature at maximum weight loss stage(Tmax), shifted towards higher temperatures when the heating rate was increased. At higher heating temperature, the number of aliphatic chains and substituted groups attached to aromatic rings of the resultant sample was reduced, whereas the C/H ratio and porosity rate increased. Pyrolysis kinetics studies showed that the activation energy(E) range for the first and second weight loss stages was 150—210 k J/mol and 210—275 k J/mol, respectively, which showed that the mechanism of thermal decomposition differed from that of the weight loss stages. The k0 value was in the orders of between 1011/s and 1018/s when the activation energy was less than 250 k J/mol. When the activation energiy was greater than 250 k J/mol, there was a linearly increasing relationship between k0 and E. | Li Shibin Sun Qiqian Jiang Wei Teng Chuanliang Wu Mingbo | 2016 | China Petroleum Processing & Petrochemical Technology2016,18,2: | 1
Curing Mechanism of Condensed Polynuclear Aromatic Resin and Thermal Stability of Cured Resin显示文摘In order to improve the thermal stability of condensed polynuclear aromatic(COPNA) resin synthesized from vacuum residue, 1,4-benzenedimethanol was added to cure COPNA resin. The curing mechanism was investigated by proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry, solid carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Microstructures of the uncured and the cured COPNA resins were studied by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffractometry. The thermal stability of COPNA resins before and after curing was tested by thermogravimetric analysis. The element composition of the cured COPNA resin heated at different temperatures was analyzed by an element analyzer. The results showed that the uncured COPNA resin reacted with the cross-linking agent during the curing process, and the curing mechanism was confirmed to be the electrophilic substitution reaction. Compared with the uncured COPNA resin, the cured COPNA resin had a smooth surface, well-ordered and streamlined sheet structure with more crystalline solids, better molecular arrangement and orientation. The weight loss process of the uncured and cured COPNA resins was divided into three stages. Carbon residue of the cured COPNA resin was 41.65% at 600 ℃, which was much higher than 25.02% of the uncured COPNA resin, which indicated that the cured COPNA resin had higher thermal stability. | Li Shibin Sun Qiqian Wang Yuwei Wu Mingbo Zhang Zailong | 2015 | China Petroleum Processing & Petrochemical Technology2015,17,2: | 1

Developing in situ electron paramagnetic resonance characterization for understanding electron transfer of rechargeable batteries显示文摘Electrochemical energy storage devices are pivotal in achieving“carbon neutrality”by enabling the storage of energy generated from renewable sources. To facilitate the development of these devices,it is important to gain insight into the underlying the single-/multi-electron transfer process. This can be achieved through in-time detection under operational conditions, but there are limited tools available for monitoring electron transfer under operando conditions.Electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)is a powerful technique that can meet these expectations,as it is highly sensitive to unpaired electrons and can detect changes of paramagnetic centres.Despite the long history of in situ electrochemical EPR research, its potential has been surprisingly underutilized due to the need for strict operando cell design under special testing conditions. This review comprehensively summarizes recent efforts to understand energy storage mechanisms using in situ/operando EPR,with the aim of drawing researchers’attention to this powerful technique. After introducing the fundamental principles of EPR,we describe the critical advances made in detecting batteries using operando EPR,along with the remaining challenges and opportunities for future development of this technology in batteries. We emphasize the need for strict operando cell design and the importance of designing experiments that closely mimic real-world conditions. We believe that this review will provide innovative solutions to solve tough problems that researchers may encounter during their battery research, and ultimately contribute to the development of more efficient and sustainable energy storage devices. | Bin Wang Wanli Wang Kang Sun Yujie Xu Yi Sun Qiang Li Han Hu Mingbo Wu | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,10: | 1
Propelling polysulfide redox by Fe_(3)C-FeN heterostructure@nitrogendoped carbon framework towards high-efficiency Li-S batteries显示文摘Lithium-sulfur(Li-S) batteries hold great promise in next-generation high-energy-density energy storage systems, but the intractable shuttle effect and the sluggish redox kinetics of polysulfides hinder the practical implementation of Li-S batteries. Here, heterostructured Fe_(3)C-FeN nanoparticles dotted in the threedimensional-ordered nitrogen-doped carbon framework(Fe_(3)C-FeN@NCF) were synthesized by molecular engineering combined with heterointerface engineering, and were applied to regulate the immobilization-diffusion-conversion behavior of polar polysulfides. It is experimentally and theoretically demonstrated that the heterointerface between Fe_(3)C and FeN exhibits high sulfiphilicity and high electronic/ionic conductivity, thus effectively capturing polysulfides and accelerating the bidirectional conversion of sulfur species.Meanwhile, the holey carbon framework functions as the scaffold to highly disperse binary nanoparticles, ensuring the sufficient exposure of active sites and the easy accessibility for lithium ions and electrons.By virtue of these synergistic merits, the Li-S batteries based on Fe_(3)CFeN@NCF-modified separators afford excellent electrochemical performances including a high rate capacity of 858 mA h g^(-1)at 2 C and a low capacity decay rate of 0.07% per cycle after 800 cycles at 1C This work provides inspiration for the design of heterostructured compounds and sheds light on the potential of heterostructure in high-efficiency Li-S batteries. | Mengdi Zhang Jiawei Mu Yanan Li Yuanyuan Pan Zhiliang Dong Bei Chen Shiwei Guo Wenhan Yuan Haiqiu Fang Han Hu Mingbo Wu | 2023 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,3: | 1
