| 1 | Recent development of ductile cast iron production technology in China显示文摘Recent progress in the production and technology of ductile cast iron castings in China is reviewed. The manufacture and process control of as-cast ductile iron are discussed. The microstructure, properties and application of partial austenitization normalizing ductile iron and austempered ductile iron (ADI) are briefly depicted. | 2 | Several significant hydrographic characteristics and their formation mechanism in the South China Sea during the spring and summer of 1998显示文摘On the basis of the CTD data obtained by the two cruises before and after summer monsoon burst (25th May, 1998), several significant hydrographic characteristics, their variation and formation mechanism in the South China Sea (SCS) are analyzed. The results show that the Kuroshio water intrudes into the SCS in the form of loop current, and its main part is limited to the east of 118°E near the Luzon Strait. Then it continuously extends westwards under the influence of the large-scale circulation, and has a distinct impact on the area north of 16°N. There are two high temperature and low salinity regions:west off Luzon and east off Vietnam respectively. One region west off Luzon strengthens obviously after summer monsoon burst, the other east off Vietnam shows a tendency of weakening in the north and strengthening in the south. The formation of these two high temperature and low salinity regions is related to the anti-cyclonic eddies existing in this area, besides, it is also related to the high temperature feature west of Luzon, the influx of Sulu Sea water and the influence of the large-scale air circulation. There is a cold region below the depth of 50 m in the south of Zhongsha Islands, and it strengthens after monsoon burst. | 3 | Fracture analysis of chilled cast iron camshaft显示文摘The fracture of a camshaft made of chilled cast iron,installed in a home-made Fukang car,happened only after running over a distance of 6,200 km.The fractured camshaft was received to conduct a series of failure analyses using visual inspection,SEM observation of fracture section,microstructure analysis,chemical composition analysis and hardness examination and so on,while those of CKD camshaft made by Citroēn Company in France was also simultaneously analyzed to compare the difference between them.The results showed that the fracture of the camshaft mainly results from white section in macrostructure and Ledeburite in microstructure;the crack in the fractured camshaft should be recognized to initiate at the boundary of coarser needle-like carbide and matrix,and then propagate through the transverse section.At the same time,the casting defects such as dendritic shrinkage,accumulated inclusion and initiated crack and abnormal external force might stimulate the fracture of camshaft as well.Based on failure analysis,some measures have been employed,and as a result,the fracture of home-made camshafts has been effectively prevented. | Li Ping Li Fengjun Cai Anke Wei Bokang | 2009 | China Foundry2009，6，2： | 2 |

| 10 | Observations of near surface current at the Luzon Strait in winter显示文摘One hundred and ninety-one Argos satellite-tracked drifters deployed at the Luzon Strait in winter during 1991 to 2004 were analyzed to understand the near surface current in northern South China Sea (SCS). Several major track patterns of these drifters have been found. There are:(1)shelf slope landing way (SLW); (2)deep basin way (DBW);(3) weak loop current pattern;(4) northward movement directly driven by the Kuroshio.
