| 1 | Short and long-term efficacy of combining Fuzhengliqi mixture with acupuncture in treatment of functional constipation显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To explore the short and long-term efficacy of combining Fuzhengliqi mixture (FLM) with acupuncture in treating functional constipation (FC). METHODS: The 560 patients with confirmed diagnosis of FC were randomly assigned to four groups: FLM group, acupuncture group, combined therapy group, and control group. There were 140 cases in each group. The FLM group was administered FLM 60 mL twice a day, while the acupuncture group was treated with acupuncture at acupoints Tianshu (ST 25), Shangjuxu (ST 37), Zusanli (ST 36), Dachangshu (BL 25), and Zhigou (TE 6) twice a day, the combined therapy group with FLM and acupuncture, and the control group was administered mosapride (5 mg thrice a day) and Macrogol 4000 (10 g twice a day). The treatment lasted 6 weeks. The defecation interval, stool property, constipation symptoms, and accompanying symptomswere recorded, graded, and scored.The gastrointestinal transit time (GITT) and motilin (MTL) level in serum and life quality score were detected at three time points (pre-treatment, at the end of treatment, and 60 weeks post-treatment). Moreover, the adverse reactions were also observed. RESULTS: In the FLM group 2 cases were eliminated for not taking medication strictly according to the research plan and 1 case was lost to follow-up, while 2 cases in the acupuncture group and 2 cases in the combined therapy group were lost to follow-up. Compared with those detected pre-treat- ment, the defecation interval, stool property, consti- pation symptom grade, accompanying symptom grade, and GITT were all decreased markedly at the end of treatment in every group, while the MTL levels in serum and life quality score were increased markedly (P<0.01), the above-mentioned detecting indices were better in the combined therapy group than those in other groups (P<0.05). Compared with the end of treatment, above-mentioned detecting indices all recurred significantly in the FLM group and control group 60 weeks post-treatment (P>0.05), but these indices recurred insignificantly in the acupuncture and combined therapy groups (P>0.05). The short and long-term total effective rates in the combined therapy group were significantly different from those in other groups (P<0.05 or P<0.01). No serious adverse reactions were found in four groups. CONCLUSION: Both FLM and acupuncture can significantly shorten the defecation interval and GITT, increase MTL levels in serum, decrease the scores of stool property, constipation symptoms, and accompanying symptoms in patients with FC to increase their life quality. | 2 | Clinical curative effect of electroacupuncture combined with Zhizhukuanzhong Capsules for treating gastroesophageal reflux disease显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To study the clinical curative effect,safety and mechanism of action of electroacupuncture combined with Zhizhukuanzhong capsules(ZZKZC) in treating gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD).METHODS:A total of 480 patients with confirmed GERD were randomly divided into four groups:the electroacupuncture group,the ZZKZC group,the combined therapy group,and the control group,with 120 cases in each group.Each case in the electroacupuncture group was treated with electroacupuncture on Zusanli(ST36),Zhongwan(CV12),Neiguan(PC6),Taichong(LR3)and Gongsun(SP 4)once daily for 6 weeks.Each case in the ZZKZC group was treated with oral administration of 1.29 g ZZKZC three times daily.The combined therapy group had electroacupuncture and ZZKZC.The control group was given oral administration of 5 mg mosapride three times and 20 mg pantoprazole twice daily.The 24-hour intraesophageal total number of reflux episodes with pH <4(or bilirubin absorbance ≥ 0.14),the number of long-term(≥5 min) reflux episodes,the percentage of upright time,the percentage of supine time,the percentage of total time of pH <4(or bilirubin absorbance ≥0.14),endoscopic grading score,symptom score,quality of life score,and adverse reactions were observed before treatment,at the end of treatment and 54 weeks after treatment in the four groups.RESULTS:The 24-hour intraesophageal pH and bile reflux,endoscopic grading score and symptom score were all significantly decreased at the end of treatment in every group,while the scores of 8 dimensions of quality of life were all increased compared with those before treatment(P<0.01).All of these indices were better in the combined therapy group than those in the other groups(P<0.05).These indices did not significantly deteriorate in the combined therapy group and electroacupuncture group 54 weeks after treatment compared with the end of treatment(P>0.05);however,these indices all significantly deteriorated in the ZZKZC and control groups(P>0.05).The short and long-term total efficacy rates in the combined therapy group showed significant superiority to those in the other groups(P<0.05 or P<0.01).No serious adverse reactions were found in the four groups.CONCLUSION:Electroacupuncture and ZZKZC play an important role in inhibiting intraesophageal acid and bile reflux,decreasing the endoscopic grading score,and alleviating the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux to improve the quality of life.However,the effect of combined treatment is more effective,with better security and long-term efficacy,and therefore,this combination treatment is appropriate for clinicaluse. | Chaoxian Zhang Like Guo Xiaofeng Guo Xiaohe Guo Guangyan Li | 2012 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2012,32,3: | 8 |
| 3 | The Factor Decomposition on Carbon Emission of China——Based on LMDI Decomposition Technology显示文摘Carbon emission is the current hot issue of global concern. How to assess various contributing factors for carbon emission is of great importance to find out the key factors and promote carbon emission reduction. In this paper, the author constructs an identical equation for carbon emission, based on the economic aggregate, the economic structure, the efficiency of energy utilization, the structure of energy consumption, and the coefficient of carbon emission; by applying to LMDI decomposition technology, the author analyzes the carbon emission of China from 1995 to 2007 at industrial level and regional level. The results show that the expansion of economic aggregate is the main reason for China' s rapidly increasing carbon emission and the increase of energy utilization efficiency is the key factor that can hold back the increase of carbon emission. In addition, the change of industrial structure or regional structure and the change of traditional energy structure have limited influence on the carbon emission, and their potentials have not yet been exploited. | 4 | Identification and Fine Mapping of rhm1 Locus for Resistance to Southern Corn Leaf Blight in Maize显示文摘rhm1 is a major recessive disease resistance locus for Southern corn leaf blight (SCLB).To further narrow down its genetic position,F 2 population and BC 1 F 1 population derived from the cross between resistant (H95 rhm) and susceptible parents (H95) of maize (Zea mays) were constructed.Using newly developed markers,rhm1 was initially delimited within an interval of 2.5 Mb,and then finally mapped to a 8.56 kb interval between InDel marker IDP961-503 and simple sequence repeat (SSR) marker A194149-1.Three polymorphic markers IDP961-504,IDP B2-3 and A194149-2 were shown to be co-segregated with the rhm1 locus.Sequence analysis of the 8.56 kb DNA fragment revealed that it contained only one putative gene with a predicted amino acid sequence identical to lysine histidine transporter 1 (LHT1).Comparative sequence analysis indicated that the LHT1 in H95 rhm harbors a 354 bp insertion in its third exon as compared with that of susceptible alleles in B73,H95 and Mo17.The 354 bp insertion resulted in a truncation of the predicted protein of candidate resistance allele (LHT1-H95 rhm).Our results strongly suggest LHT1 as the candidate gene for rhm1 against SCLB.The tightly linked molecular markers developed in this study can be directly used for molecular breeding of resistance to Southern corn leaf blight in maize. | Yuanzeng Zhao Xiaomin Lu Chaoxian Liu Haiying Guan Mei Zhang Zhongfeng Li Hongwei Cai Jinsheng Lai | 2012 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2012,54,5: | 4 |
| 5 | Fosmid library construction and screening for the maize mutant gene Vestigial glume 1显示文摘The maize mutant gene Vestigial glume 1(Vg1) has been fine-mapped to a narrow region by map-based cloning and the candidate gene for Vg1 spanned 19.5 kb. Here we report Vg1 genomic fosmid library construction and screening. The fosmid library of Vg1 consisted of574,000 clones with an average insert size of 36.4 kb, representing 7.9-fold coverage of the maize genome. Fosmid stability assays indicated that clones were stable during propagation in the fosmid system. Using Vg1 candidate gene-specific primers, a positive clone was successfully identified. | 6 | Characterization of the imprinting and expression patterns of ZAG2 in maize endosperm and embryo显示文摘ZAG2 has been identified as a maternally expressed imprinted gene in maize endosperm.Our study revealed that paternally inherited ZAG2 alleles were imprinted in maize endosperm and embryo at 14 days after pollination(DAP), and consistently imprinted in endosperm at 10, 12, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, and 28 DAP in reciprocal crosses between B73 and Mo17. ZAG2 alleles were also imprinted in reciprocal crosses between Zheng 58 and Chang7-2 and between Huang C and 178. ZAG2 alleles exhibited differential imprinting in hybrids of 178 × Huang C and B73 × Mo17, while in other hybrids ZAG2 alleles exhibited binary imprinting. | 7 | Do neural precursor cells exist in a distal neurogenic region following cerebral hemorrhage?显示文摘BACKGROUND: Cerebral injury in adult mammals can induce neural precursor cells (NPCs) to proliferate and migrate towards the focal zone,but it is unclear whether endogenous NPCs can migrate towards regions distal to the hemorrhagic focus or whether NPCs differentiate in the peripheral hemorrhagic region.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the distribution of endogenous NPCs in different brain regions of rats with experimental cerebral hemorrhage,as well as NPC proliferation and differentiation with time.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING: A randomized,controlled animal experiment was performed at the Department of Neurobiology,Luzhou Medical College,between January 2007 and October 2008.MATERIALS: Bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) was purchased from Roche,Germany.Mouse antirat BrdU monoclonal antibody,rabbit anti-nestin polyclonal antibody,rabbit antineuron specific enolase (NSE) polyclonal antibody were purchased from Wuhan Boster,China.Rabbit antiglial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) polyclonal antibody was purchased from Sigma,USA.METHODS: Thirty-five adult Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups: (1) cerebral hemorrhage group (n = 25),rats were stereotaxically administered 50 μL autologous arterial blood via the dorsal caudate putamen to induce cerebral hemorrhage;(2) sham-surgery group (n = 5),rats underwent surgery but did not receive blood injection;(3) blank control group (n = 5),rats received no surgery and blood administration.At 2 hours after surgery,all rats were intraperitoneally administered BrdU.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Distribution and proliferation of BrdU-positive cells were observed by immunohistochemical staining.BrdU-positive cell differentiation into neurons and glial cells in the peripheral hemorrhagic region was detected by double-label immunofluorescence.RESULTS: Immunohistochemistry results revealed that BrdU-positive cells existed not only in the peripheral hemorrhagic region,such as the subependymal layer and hippocampal dentate gyrus,but also in the lateral septal nucleus,diagonal band,habenular nucleus,and cerebral cortex.Following cerebral hemorrhage,BrdU-positive cells in the peripheral hemorrhagic region gradually in-creased (P < 0.05),and peaked at 7-14 days.Double-label immunofluorescence showed that with time after cerebral hemorrhage,BrdU/nestin-positive cells decreased,but BrdU/GFAPand BrdU/NSE-positive cells increased in the peripheral cerebral hemorrhagic region (P< 0.05).CONCLUSION: Cerebral hemorrhage can induce the proliferation of endogenous NPCs,which peaks at 1-2 weeks after hemorrhage.NPCs can also migrate towards the regions distal to the hemorrhagic focus,such as a diagonal band or lateral septal nucleus.NPCs can gradually differentiate with increasing time after hemorrhage. | Chaoxian Yang Ling Zhou Li Deng Xiaoqing Gao | 2010 | Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,5: | 2 |

| 12 | Estimation of emission reduction potential in China's industrial sector显示文摘The industrial sector is usually the largest economy sector for carbon emissions in many countries,which made it the sector with greatest potential for carbon reduction although the process duration might be very long.Studying the potential of industrial emission reduction has great significance in estimating the carbon emission peak of China on the one hand,and adjusting its strategy in international climate change negotiations.By employing the economic accounting method,this article estimates the emission reduction potential of China's Industrial sector for the period of 2010-2050.It reveals that,taking 2030 as the year when the emission reaches the peak,the total reduction can be 8.38 billion tons(bts) for the period of 2010-2030,with 3.12 bts from structural reduction while 5.26 bts from intensity reduction.Afterwards,reduction will continue with a total amount of 6.59 bts for the period of 2030-2050,where the structural reduction accounts for 2.47 bts,and intensity reduction 4.115 bts.If both industrial and energy consumption structures are improved during the above period,the reduction potential can be even greater,e.g.the emission peak can arrive five years earlier(in the year of 2025) and the peak value can decline by about 8%as compared to the original estimation.Reviewing the trajectory of emission changes in developed countries indicates that the industry sector can contribute to the overall reduction targets through the dual wheels of structural reduction and intensity reduction,even beyond the emission peak.This article concludes with the following policy suggestions.(1) Our estimation on the emission peak of the industrial sector suggests that China should avoid any commitment earlier than 2030 on the timeline of the overall emission peak;(2) the great potential of industrial emission reduction can improve the situation of China in climate change negotiation,where the intensity reduction can serve as an important policy option.(3) Reduction potential can be further enhanced through technology advancement,which requires furthering of market oriented reforms and improvement of institutional design.(4) To secure the reduction effects of the industrial structure adjustment,the balanced development among different regions should be encouraged in order to avoid the reverse adjustment caused by industrial transferring.(5) International cooperation promoting the application and development of industrial emission reduction technologies,including carbon capture,utilization and storage,should be encouraged. | Chaoxian Guo | 2015 | Chinese Journal of Population,Resources and Environment2015,13,3: | 1 |

| 16 | Scientific literature addressing detection of monosialoganglioside A 10-year bibliometric analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: The study was undertaken to explore a bibliometric approach to quantitatively assess the research on detection of monosialoganglioside from 2002 to 2011. DATA RETRIEVAL: A bibliometric analysis based on the publications on Web of Science was performed using key words such as 'monosialoganglioside', 'colloidal gold', 'high performance liquid chromatography' and 'detection'. SELECTION CRITERIA: (1) Research articles on the detection of monosialoganglioside; (2) researches on human and animal fundamentals, clinical trials and case reports; (3) article types: article, review, proceedings paper, note, letter, editorial material, discussion, book chapter; (4) Publication year: 2002-2011. Exclusion criteria: (1) unrelated articles; (2) type of articles: correction; (3) articles from following databases: all databases related to social science and arts & humanities in Web of Science were excluded. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: (1) distribution of subject areas; (2) number of publications annually; (3) document type and language of publications; (4) distribution of institutions; (5) distribution of output in journals; (6) the number of countries in which the article is published; (7) top cited paper. RESULTS: Overall population stands at 1 880 research articles addressing detection of monosialoganglioside in Web of Science during the study period. Articles (1 599) were the most frequently used document type comprising 85.05%, followed by meeting abstracts, reviews and proceedings papers. The distribution of subject categories showed that monosialoganglioside research covered both clinical and basic science research. The USA, Japan, and Italy were the three most productive countries, and the publication numbers in the USA were highest with 559 papers. The University of Milan, Nagoya University, and Kinki University are the most productive institutions regarding detection of monosialoganglioside. In 559 articles published by Americans, Medical College of Georgia ranked the first with 30 articles, followed by University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (28 articles), Cornell University (24 articles) and Johns Hopkins University (24 articles). In 442 articles published by Japanese, Nagoya University ranked the first with 40 articles, followed by Kinki University (36 articles), and Dokkyo University (31 articles). Though the total number of publications by Japanese is smaller than Americans, the top three institutions published more publications than American institutions. There is a markedly increase in the number of publications on the subject detection of monosialoganglioside in 2004, which the peak in the past 10 years. The valley bottom of the subject appeared in 2005. In total, the research is increased with time prolonged. Journal of Neurochemistry, Journal of Biological Chemistry and Journal of Neuroimmunology were core subject journals in monosialoganglioside studies. In the process of economic globalization, what economic system of capitalist market has seen is 'China's cheap labor', 'China's loose economic system environment', 'earlier abuse of unlimited resource environment', 'China's broad consumption market' and 'demographic dividend'. In global or Asian financial crisis, what other countries valued was China's 'foreign currency' accumulated over the years. In global governance or crisis management, what international community expected was 'China's obligations and responsibilities' without the right of speech, etc.. All these are the 'passive' roles produced by 'a single factor' in definite fields. The active and initiative role China will play in international community still needs time and the continuous efforts of several generations. China once was a big country that had significant influential power on the world, and China's renaissance is a normal process of development of things. | 20 | Novel switchable ECF sigma factor transcription system for improving thaxtomin A production in Streptomyces显示文摘The application of the valuable natural product thaxtomin A,a potent bioherbicide from the potato scab pathogenic Streptomyces strains,has been greatly hindered by the low yields from its native producers.Here,we developed an orthogonal transcription system,leveraging extra-cytoplasmic function(ECF)sigma(σ)factor 17(ECF17)and its cognate promoter Pecf17,to express the thaxtomin gene cluster and improve the production of thaxtomin A.The minimal Pecf17 promoter was determined,and a Pecf17 promoter library with a wide range of strengths was constructed.Furthermore,a cumate inducible system was developed for precise temporal control of the ECF17 transcription system in S.venezuelae ISP5230.Theoretically,the switchable ECF17 transcription system could reduce the unwanted influences from host and alleviate the burdens introduced by overexpression of heterologous genes.The yield of thaxtomin A was significantly improved to 202.1±15.3μg/mL using the switchable ECF17 transcription system for heterologous expression of the thaxtomin gene cluster in S.venezuelae ISP5230.Besides,the applicability of this transcription system was also tested in Streptomyces albus J1074,and the titer of thaxtomin A was raised to as high as 239.3±30.6μg/mL.Therefore,the inducible ECF17 transcription system could serve as a complement of the generally used transcription systems based on strong native constitutive promoters and housekeepingσfactors for the heterologous expression of valuable products in diverse Streptomyces hosts. | Xuejin Zhao Weijia Wei Yeqing Zong Chaoxian Bai Xian Guo Hua Zhu Chunbo Lou | 2022 | Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2022,7,3: | 1 |
