1A Multicenter Study of Viral Aetiology of Community-Acquired Pneumonia in Hospitalized Children in Chinese Mainland显示文摘Community-acquired pneumonia(CAP) is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in children worldwide.In this study,we aimed to describe the aetiology of viral infection of pediatric CAP in Chinese mainland.During November2014 to June 2016,the prospective study was conducted in 13 hospitals.The hospitalized children under 18 years old who met the criteria for CAP were enrolled.The throat swabs or nasopharyngeal aspirates(NPAs) were collected which were then screened 18 respiratory viruses using multiplex PCR assay.Viral pathogens were present in 56.6%(1539/2721) of the enrolled cases,with the detection rate of single virus in 39.8% of the cases and multiple viruses in 16.8% of the cases.The most frequently detected virus was respiratory syncytial virus(RSV)(15.2%,414/2721).The highest detection rate of virus was in <6-month-age group(70.7%,292/413).RSV,human metapneumovirus(HMPV),human parainfluenza viruses(HPIVs) and influenza B virus(Flu B) showed the similar prevalence patterns both in north and south China,but HPIVs,Flu A,human bocavirus(HBoV),human adenovirus(HAdV) and human coronaviruses(HCoVs) showed the distinct circulating patterns in north and south China.Human enterovirus/human rhinovirus(HEV/HRV)(27.6%,27/98),HBoV(18.4%,18/98),RSV(16.3%,16/98) and HMPV(14.3%,14/98) were the most commonly detected viruses in severe pneumonia cases with single virus infection.In conclusion,viral pathogens are frequently detected in pediatric CAP cases and may therefore play a vital role in the aetiology of CAP.RSV was the most important virus in hospitalized children with CAP in Chinese mainland.Yun Zhu Baoping Xu Changchong Li Zhimin Chen Ling Cao Zhou Fu Yunxiao Shang Aihuan Chen Li Deng Yixiao Bao Yun Sun Limin Ning Shuilian Yu Fang Gu Chunyan Liu Ju Yin Adong Shen Zhengde Xie Kunling Shen 2021Virologica Sinica2021,36,6:7
2Study on Landscape Features of Bai People'sTraditional Mountainous Villages in Dali显示文摘In view of the vast mountainous areas and abundant mountainous settlement resources of Dali Bai Nationality Autonomous Prefecture, the authors proposed the significance and necessity of studying landscape features of traditional mountainous settlements of the Bai Nationality by considering policy requirements of 'protection system planning of famous historic and cultural cities, towns, villages and blocks in Yunnan Province' and 'construction of mountainous towns'. On the basis of investigating traditional mountainous settlements of the Bai Nationality in Dali, 5 typical settlements were analyzed from the perspectives of landscape structure, village layout, landscape element, landscape materials and decorative art. 3Elevational patterns of carbon,nitrogen and phosphorus in understory bryophytes on the eastern slope of Gongga Mountain,China显示文摘Aims The nutrient uptake,requirement and releasing rates of bryophytes are very different from those of tracheophytes.However,it is diffi-cult to make a quantitative evaluation of bryophytes’roles in nu-trient cycling and their specific eco-physiological adaptations due to lack of knowledge of their concentrations and stoichiometric ratios of carbon(C),nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P).To fill this gap,the present study aims to investigate:(i)what are the elevational trends of C,N and P concentrations and stoichiometric ratios of bryophytes?(ii)whether C,N and P concentrations and stoichio-metric ratios of bryophytes differ between different bryophyte types(in terms of the growth form and living substrate)?and(iii)how do the exponent scalings of N and P of bryophytes change along the elevational gradient?Methods We measured and calculated the C,N,P concentrations and stoi-chiometric ratios of bryophytes from four elevations on the eastern slope of Gongga Mountain(22 species in total).Differences in these traits among elevations,and between different bryophyte types were compared.The log-log allometric regression parameters of N and P at each elevation were also determined and compared.Important Findings The C,N and P concentrations of bryophytes showed decreasing trends with increasing elevations.More specifically,erect bryo-phytes possessed higher C and N concentrations than those of pros-trate species,and terricolous species had higher P concentration than that of corticolous and saxicolous species.Bryophytes from different elevations had an invariant allometric regression slope for P versus N.Future research at a larger scale is in need for a more generalized law of bryophytes.Zhe Wang Chunyan Pi Xiaoming Li Weikai Bao 2019Journal of Plant Ecology2019,12,4:3
4High-temperature Tensile Behavior of Laser Welded Ti-22Al-25Nb Joints at Different Temperatures显示文摘The high-temperature tensile behavior of laser welded Ti-22Al-25Nb (at%) joints was investigated at 500,650,800,and 1 000 ℃.The temperatures for tensile tests were selected according to the phase transformation sequence of Ti2AlNb-based alloys.At temperatures lower than the B2+O phase field (500 ℃) and higher than the B2+O phase field (1 000 ℃),the joints fracture in the base metal in ductile fracture mode.By contrast,the joints exhibit obvious high-temperature brittleness in the B2+O phase field (650 °C and 800 ℃).Heat treatments were conducted with respect to the thermal history of tensile specimens.Intergranular microcracks along the grain boundary of B2 phase are found in the fusion zone after the heat treatments at 650 ℃ and 800 ℃.The high-temperature brittleness at 650 ℃ and 800 ℃ is attributed to the B2→O transformation along the grain boundary.The stress concentration caused by the volume change of B2→O transformation also contributes to the high-temperature brittleness of laser welded Ti-22Al-25Nb joints.张可召 雷正龙 CHEN Yanbin YAN Chunyan FU Qiang BAO Yefeng 2020Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2020,35,6:1

8Floating Escherichia coli by Expressing Cyanobacterial Gas Vesicle Genes显示文摘Gas vesicles are hollow, air-filled polyprotein structures that provide the buoyancy to cells. They are found in a variety of prokaryotes. In this study, we isolated a partial gas vesicle protein gene cluster containing gvp A and gvp C20Ψ from Planktothrix rubescens, and inserted it into an expression vector and expressed it in E. coli. The gas vesicle was developed in bacterial cells, which made bacterial cells to float on medium surface. We also amplified gvp A and gvp C20Ψ separately and synthesized an artificial operon by fusing these two genes with the standardized gene expression controlling elements of E. coli. The artificial operon was expressed in E. coli, forming gas vesicles and floating bacteria cells. Our findings verified that the whole set of genes and the overall structure of gas vesicle gene cluster are not necessary for developing gas vesicles in bacteria cells. Two genes, gvp A and gvp C20Ψ, of the gas vesicle gene cluster are sufficient for synthesizing an artificial operon that can develop gas vesicles in bacteria cells. 12Constructing subtle grain boundaries on Au sheets for enhanced CO2 photoreduction显示文摘Photocatalytic reduction of CO2 into value-added products is a promising strategy for mitigating environmental and energy problems simultaneously.Herein,we developed Au sheets with subtle grain boundaries on ultrathin Ni(OH)2 nanosheets as efficient photocatalysts for CO2 reduction.According to mechanistic studies,grain boundaries on the Au sheets served as electron trapping sites which enabled the optimization of electron-hole separation.Moreover,grain boundaries perturbed electron distribution,which assisted in stabilizing CO2^δ- and HCOO^* intermediates.As a result,the unique hybrid structure achieved a high rate of 75.2μmol g^-1h^-1 for CO2 photoreduction.This work demonstrates the importance of defect engineering in designing active photocatalysts and also provides insight into development of related photo-energy conversion schemes.Xu Li Tingting Zheng Lan Zhang Songtao Zhao Yinuo Chen Miaojin Wei Chunyan Shang Jun Bao Jie Zeng 2020Science China Chemistry2020,63,12:0

14A photopatterned SERS substrate with a sandwich structure for multiplex detection显示文摘Substrate photopatterning has provided versatile applications in biomedical fields. Herein, an universal and efficient photoligation reaction has been used to prepare a patterned capture substrate for a sandwich SERS immunoassay. Photoirradiation induces mild and efficient immobilization of antibodies at the desired region of a gold surface, and the antibody-antigen interaction helps the substrate to capture the antigens in solution specifically. After exposing to SERS probes, i.e., the gold nanoparticles labelled with both antibodies and intrinsically strong Raman reporters, multiple quantitative SERS determination of antigens can be achieved with high sensitivity and specificity. 15Molecular rotaxane shuttle-relay accelerates K^(+)/Cl^(-) symport across a lipid membrane显示文摘Synthetic molecules that can mediate the coupled transport of Cl^(-) with K^(+) and/or Na+across the lipid bilayers have aroused great interest due to their potential as a novel therapeutic strategy by disrupting cellular ion homeostasis.Based on the structural advantages of molecular rotaxanes,we herein show that two rotaxane-based transporters[2]R and[3]R induce coupled K^(+)/Cl^(-) channel transport by introducing Cl^(-) recognition sites in the thread and K^(+) binding group in the wheel,respectively.The welldesigned molecular structures allow the insertion of unimolecular rotaxanes into the lipid bilayer,thus achieving effective ion transport by means of thermodynamically controlled movement and driven by the difference in ion concentration inside and outside the vesicles.In addition,the use of a three-component rotaxane can accelerate ion transport through a cooperative shuttlerelay mechanism in which two wheels move along the thread in the lipid membrane,thereby enabling[3]R to have higher ion transport capacity.This work represents a major advance in the use of rotaxane molecules to accomplish more complex and effective tasks.Kai Ye Zekai Zhang Zexin Yan Shihao Pang Huiting Yang Xiaonan Sun Can Liu Linyong Zhu Cheng Lian Chunyan Bao 2023Science China Chemistry2023,66,8:0
16A stress-rifting origin of Grand Canyon显示文摘The Grand Canyon is a massive rift in the Colorado Plateau. How and when it developed has been debated for nearly 150 years. Most geologists believe the unusual landscape was primarily shaped by water erosion.Here we propose a stress-rifting model to provide an alternative explanation for the origin of Grand Canyon.This paper adopts a brittle–ductile double layer model to simulate the deformation and rifting of the plateau due to the mantle-melting-induced expansion. Our results show that the uplift induced by thermal expansion and its associated horizontal extension can cause open fractures that extend from the brittle surface to the underlying ductile layer in a top-down way. In addition, we find that episodic uplift can deepen and connect multiple fractures together to form a larger fracture network. Our findings suggest that the formation of the Grand Canyon might have been driven by plateau uplift and its associated rifting under crustal extension, wherein water erosion played only a minor role in shaping the course of the Colorado River.
