1National cancer incidence and mortality in China, 2012显示文摘Background: Population-based cancer registration data in 2012 from all available cancer registries were collected by the National Central Cancer Registry(NCCR). NCCR estimated the numbers of new cancer cases and cancer deaths in China with compiled cancer incidence and mortality rates.Methods: In 2015, there were 261 cancer registries submitted cancer incidence and deaths occurred in 2012. All the data were checked and evaluated based on the NCCR criteria of data quality. Qualified data from 193 registries were used for cancer statistics analysis as national estimation. The pooled data were stratified by area(urban/rural), gender, age group [0, 1–4, 5–9, 10–14, …, 85+] and cancer type. New cancer cases and deaths were estimated using age-specific rates and corresponding national population in 2012. The Chinese census data in 2000 and Segi's population were applied for age-standardized rates. All the rates were expressed per 100,000 person-year.Results: Qualified 193 cancer registries(74 urban and 119 rural registries) covered 198,060,406 populations(100,450,109 in urban and 97,610,297 in rural areas). The percentage of cases morphologically verified(MV%) and death certificate-only cases(DCO%) were 69.13% and 2.38%, respectively, and the mortality to incidence rate ratio(M/I) was 0.62. A total of 3,586,200 new cancer cases and 2,186,600 cancer deaths were estimated in China in 2012. The incidence rate was 264.85/100,000(289.30/100,000 in males, 239.15/100,000 in females), the age-standardized incidence rates by Chinese standard population(ASIRC) and by world standard population(ASIRW) were 191.89/100,000 and 187.83/100,000 with the cumulative incidence rate(0–74 age years old) of 21.82%. The cancer incidence, ASIRC and ASIRW in urban areas were 277.17/100,000, 195.56/100,000 and 190.88/100,000 compared to 251.20/100,000, 187.10/100,000 and 183.91/100,000 in rural areas, respectively. The cancer mortality was 161.49/100,000(198.99/100,000 in males, 122.06/100,000 in females), the age-standardized mortality rates by Chinese standard population(ASMRC) and by world standard population(ASMRW) were 112.34/100,000 and 111.25/100,000, and the cumulative mortality rate(0–74 years old) was 12.61%. The cancer mortality, ASMRC and ASMRW were 159.00/100,000, 107.231/100,000 and 106.13/100,000 in urban areas, 164.24/100,000, 118.22/100,000 and 117.06/100,000 in rural areas, respectively. Cancers of lung, stomach, liver, colorectum, esophagus, female breast, thyroid cervix, brain tumor and pancreas were the most common cancers, accounting for about 77.4% of all cancer new cases. Lung cancer, liver cancer, stomach cancer, esophageal cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, female breast cancer, brain tumor, leukemia and lymphoma were the leading causes of cancer death, accounting for about 84.5% of all cancer deaths. The cancer spectrum showed difference between urban and rural, males and females both in incidence and mortality rates.Conclusions: Cancer surveillance information in China is making great progress with the increasing number of cancer registries, population coverage and the improving data quality. Cancer registration plays a fundamental role in cancer control by providing basic information on population-based cancer incidence, mortality, survival and time trend. 2Cancer incidence and mortality in China in 2013:an analysis based on urbanization level显示文摘Objective: To explore the cancer patterns in areas with different urbanization rates(URR) in China with data from 255 population-based cancer registries in 2013, collected by the National Central Cancer Registry(NCCR).Methods: There were 347 cancer registries submitted cancer incidence and deaths occurred in 2013 to NCCR.All those data were checked and evaluated based on the NCCR criteria of data quality, and qualified data from 255 registries were used for this analysis. According to the proportion of non-agricultural population, we divided cities/counties into 3 levels: high level, with URR equal to 70% and higher; median level, with URR between 30%and 70%; and low level, with URR equal to 30% and less. Cancer incidences and mortalities were calculated,stratified by gender and age groups in different areas. The national population of Fifth Census in 2000 and Segi's population were applied for age-standardized rates.Results: Qualified 255 cancer registries covered 226,494,490 populations. The percentage of cases morphologically verified(MV%) and death certificate-only cases(DCO%) were 68.04% and 1.74%, respectively,and the mortality to incidence rate ratio(M/I) was 0.62. A total of 644,487 new cancer cases and 399,275 cancer deaths from the 255 cancer registries were submitted to NCCR in 2013. The incidence rate was 284.55/100,000(314.06/100,000 in males, 254.19/100,000 in females), and the age-standardized incidence rates by Chinese standard population(ASIRC) and by world standard population(ASIRW) were 190.10/100,000 and 186.24/100,000 with the cumulative incidence rate(0–74 age years old) of 21.60%. The cancer mortality was 176.28/100,000(219.03/100,000 in males, 132.30/100,000 in females), and the age-standardized mortality rates by Chinese standard population(ASMRC) and by world standard population(ASMRW) were 110.91/100,000 and 109.92/100,000, and the cumulative mortality rate(0–74 age years old) was 12.43%. Low urbanization areas were high in crude cancer incidence and mortality rates, middle urbanization areas came next to it followed by high urbanization areas. After adjusted by age, there was a U-shaped association between age-standardized incidence(ASIRC and ASIRW) and the urbanized ratio with the middle urbanization areas having the lowest ASIRC and ASIRW. Unlike with the agestandardized incidence, the sort order of age-standardized mortality(ASMRC and ASMRW) among three urbanization areas was reversed completely from the crude mortality. Lung cancer was the most common cancer in all areas of 255 cancer registries, followed by stomach cancer, liver cancer, colorectal cancer and esophageal cancer with new cases of 130,700, 76,200, 63,800, 60,900 and 50,200 respectively. Lung cancer was also the leading cause of cancer death in all areas of 255 cancer registries for both males and females with the number of deaths of 72,200 and 34,100, respectively. Other cancer types with high mortality in males were liver cancer, stomach cancer,esophageal cancer and colorectal cancer. In females, stomach cancer was the second cause of cancer death, followed by liver cancer, colorectal cancer and breast cancer.Conclusions: Along with the development of socioeconomics associated with urbanization, as well as the agingpopulation, the incidence and mortality keep increasing in China. Cancer burden and patterns are different in each urbanization level. 3AXL is a candidate receptor for SARS-CoV-2 that promotes infection of pulmonary and bronchial epithelial cells显示文摘The current coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic presents a global public health challenge.The viral pathogen responsible,severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),binds to the host receptor ACE2 through its spike(S)glycoprotein,which mediates membrane fusion and viral entry.Although the role of ACE2 as a receptor for SARS-CoV-2 is clear,studies have shown that ACE2 expression is extremely low in various human tissues,especially in the respiratory tract.Thus,other host receptors and/or co-receptors that promote the entry of SARS-CoV-2 into cells of the respiratory system may exist.In this study,we found that the tyrosine-protein kinase receptor UFO(AXL)specifically interacts with the N-terminal domain of SARS-CoV-2 S.Using both a SARS-CoV-2 virus pseudotype and authentic SARS-CoV-2,we found that overexpression of AXL in HEK293T cells promotes SARS-CoV-2 entry as efficiently as overexpression of ACE2,while knocking out AXL significantly reduces SARS-CoV-2 infection in HI 299 pulmonary cells and in human primary lung epithelial cells.Soluble human recombinant AXL blocks SARS-CoV-2 infection in cells expressing high levels of AXL.The AXL expression level is well correlated with SARS-CoV-2 S level in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid cells from COVID-19 patients.Taken together,our findings suggest that AXL is a novel candidate receptor for SARS-CoV-2 which may play an important role in promoting viral infection of the human respiratory system and indicate that it is a potential target for future clinical intervention strategies.Shuai Wang Zongyang Qiu Yingnan Hou Xiya Deng Wei Xu Tingting Zheng Peihan Wu Shaofang Xie Weixiang Bian Chong Zhang Zewei Sun Kunpeng Liu Chao Shan Aifu Lin Shibo Jiang Youhua Xie Qiang Zhou Lu Lu Jing Huang Xu Li 2021Cell Research2021,31,2:39

6The influence of stage at diagnosis and molecular subtype on breast cancer patient survival: a hospital.based multi.center study显示文摘Background: Stage at diagnosis and molecular subtype are important clinical factors associated with breast cancer patient survival. However, subgroup survival data from a large study sample are limited in China.To estimate the survival differences among patients with different stages and various subtypes of breast cancer, we conducted a hospital-based multi-center study on breast cancer in Beijing, China.Methods: All resident patients diagnosed with primary, invasive breast cancer between January 1,2006 and December 31,2010 from four selected hospitals in Beijing were included and followed up until December 31,2015. Hospitalbased data of stage at diagnosis, hormone receptor status, and selected clinical characteristics, including body mass index(BMI), menopausal status, histological grade, and histological type, were collected from the medical records of the study subjects. Overall survival(OS) and cancer-specific survival(CSS) were estimated. Cox proportional hazards models were employed to evaluate the associations of stage at diagnosis and molecular subtype with patient survival.Results: The 5-year OS and CSS rates for all patients were 89.4% and 90.3%. Survival varied by stage and molecular subtype. The 5-year OS rates for patients with stage I, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, and IV diseases were 96.5%, 91.6%, 74.8%, and 40.7%,respectively, and the corresponding estimates of 5-year CSS rates were 97.1%, 92.6%, 75.6%, and 42.7%, respectively.The 5-year OS rates for patients with luminal A, luminal B, HER2, and triple-negative subtypes of breast cancer were92.6%, 88.4%, 83.6%, and 82.9%, respectively, and the corresponding estimates of 5-year CSS rates were 93.2%, 89.1 %,85.4%, and 83.5%, respectively. Multivariate analysis showed that stage at diagnosis and molecular subtype were important prognostic factors for breast cancer.Conclusions: Survival of breast cancer patients varied significantly by stage and molecular subtype. Cancer screening is encouraged for the early detection and early diagnosis of breast cancer. 7High-speed femtosecond laser plasmonic lithography and reduction of graphene oxide for anisotropic photoresponse显示文摘Micro/nanoprocessing of graphene surfaces has attracted significant interest for both science and applications due to its effective modulation of material properties,which,however,is usually restricted by the disadvantages of the current fabrication methods.Here,by exploiting cylindrical focusing of a femtosecond laser on graphene oxide(GO)films,we successfully produce uniform subwavelength grating structures at high speed along with a simultaneous in situ photoreduction process.Strikingly,the well-defined structures feature orientations parallel to the laser polarization and significant robustness against distinct perturbations.The proposed model and simulations reveal that the structure formation is based on the transverse electric(TE)surface plasmons triggered by the gradient reduction of the GO film from its surface to the interior,which eventually results in interference intensity fringes and spatially periodic interactions.Further experiments prove that such a regular structured surface can cause enhanced optical absorption(>20%)and an anisotropic photoresponse(~0.46 ratio)for the reduced GO film.Our work not only provides new insights into understanding the laser-GO interaction but also lays a solid foundation for practical usage of femtosecond laser plasmonic lithography,with the prospect of expansion to other two-dimensional materials for novel device applications.Tingting Zou Bo Zhao Wei Xin Ye Wang Bin Wang Xin Zheng Hongbo Xie Zhiyu Zhang Jianjun Yang Chunlei Guo 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:17
8Lightweight and High-Performance Microwave Absorber Based on 2D WS2-RGO Heterostructures显示文摘Two-dimensional(2D)nanomaterials are categorized as a new class of microwave absorption(MA)materials owing to their high specific surface area and peculiar electronic properties.In this study,2D WS2-reduced graphene oxide(WS2-rGO)heterostructure nanosheets were synthesized via a facile hydrothermal process;moreover,their dielectric and MA properties were reported for the first time.Remarkably,the maximum reflection loss(RL)of the sample-wax composites containing 40 wt% WS2-rGO was-41.5 dB at a thickness of 2.7 mm;furthermore,the bandwidth where RL<-10 dB can reach up to 13.62 GHz(4.38-18 GHz).Synergistic mechanisms derived from the interfacial dielectric coupling and multiple-interface scattering after hybridization of WS2 with rGO were discussed to explain the drastically enhanced microwave absorption performance.The results indicate these lightweight WS2-rGO nanosheets to be potential materials for practical electromagnetic wave-absorbing applications.Deqing Zhang Tingting Liu Junye Cheng Qi Cao Guangping Zheng Shuang Liang Hao Wang MaoSheng Cao 2019Nano-Micro Letters2019,11,3:11

10Exosomes in Parkinson's Disease显示文摘Exosomes, nano-sized extracellular vesicles secreted by most cell types, are found in all kinds of biological fluids and tissues, including the central nervous system(CNS). The proposed functions of these vesicles include roles in cell–cell signaling, removal of cellular debris, and transfer of pathogens between cells. Many studies have revealed that exosomes derived from the CNS occur in the cerebrospinal fluid and peripheral body fluids,and their contents are altered during disease, making them an appealing target for biomarker development in Parkinson's disease(PD). Exosomes have been shown to spread toxic a-synuclein(asyn) between cells and induce apoptosis, which suggests a key mechanism underlying the spread of asyn aggregates in the brain and the acceleration of pathology in PD. However, potential neuroprotective roles of exosomes in PD have also been reported. On the treatment side, as drug delivery vehicles, exosomes have been used to deliver small interfering RNAs and catalase to the brain, and have shown clear therapeutic effects in a mouse model of PD. 11Epidemiology and trend analysis on malignant mesothelioma in China显示文摘Objective: Population-based cancer registration data were used to analyze the epidemiology and trend of malignant mesothelioma in China, and the result would provide basic data for its prevention and control.Methods: Malignant mesothelioma data in 2013 were retrieved from the database of National Cancer Registry.Malignant mesothelioma incidence and mortality were estimated using age-specific rate by urban/rural and gender according to the national population in 2013. Malignant mesothelioma data from 22 cancer registries were used for trend analysis during 2000–2013.Results: It is estimated that there were 2,041 new malignant mesothelioma cases and 1,659 malignant mesothelioma deaths occurred in 2013. The crude incidence rate in China were 1.50/106(males 1.67/106, females1.32/106), age-standardized incidence rates by Chinese standard population(ASIRC) and by world standard population(ASIRW) were 1.03/106 and 1.02/106, respectively. The crude mortality rate in China was 1.22/106(males 1.67/106, females 1.32/106), age-standardized mortality rates by Chinese standard population(ASMRC) and by world standard population(ASMRW) were 0.83/106 and 0.81/106, respectively. There was an increasing trend of incidence rate for malignant mesothelioma in registration areas of China during 2000–2013 with annual percentage change(APC) of 2.5% [95% confidence interval(95% CI): 0.6%–4.5%]. After age standardization, no significant differences were observed. No matter for crude mortality rates or age-standardized mortality rates, no significant differences were observed during 2000–2013.Conclusions: Malignant mesothelioma is the major occupational and environmental neoplasm associated with asbestos exposure. 13The active principle region of Buyang Huanwu decoction induced differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells into neural-like cells Superior effects over original formula of Buyang Huanwu decoction显示文摘The present study induced in vitro-cultured passage 4 bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells to differentiate into neural-like cells with a mixture of alkaloid, polysaccharide, aglycone, glycoside, essential oils, and effective components of Buyang Huanwu decoction (active principle region of decoction for invigorating yang for recuperation). After 28 days, nestin and neuron-specific enolase were expressed in the cytoplasm. Reverse transcription-PCR and western blot analyses showed that nestin and neuron-specific enolase mRNA and protein expression was greater in the active principle region group compared with the original formula group. 14Immunity-and-matrix-regulatory cells derived from human embryonic stem cells safely and effectively treat mouse lung injury and fibrosis显示文摘Lung injury and fibrosis represent the most significant outcomes of severe and acute lung disorders,including COVID-19.However,there are still no effective drugs to treat lung injury and fibrosis.In this study,we report the generation of clinical-grade human embryonic stem cells(hESCs)-derived immunity-and matrix-regulatory cells(IMRCs)produced under good manufacturing practice requirements,that can treat lung injury and fibrosis in vivo.We generate IMRCs by sequentially differentiating hESCs with serum-free reagents.IMRCs possess a unique gene expression profile distinct from that of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells(UCMSCs),such as higher expression levels of proliferative,immunomodulatory and anti-fibrotic genes.Moreover,intravenous delivery of IMRCs inhibits both pulmonary inflammation and fibrosis in mouse models of lung injury,and significantly improves the survival rate of the recipient mice in a dose-dependent manner,likely through paracrine regulatory mechanisms.IMRCs are superior to both primary UCMSCs and the FDA-approved drug pirfenidone,with an excellent efficacy and safety profile in mice and monkeys.In light of public health crises involving pneumonia,acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress syndrome,our findings suggest that IMRCs are ready for clinical trials on lung disorders.Jun Wu Dingyun Song Zhongwen Li Baojie Guo Yani Xiao Wenjing Liu Lingmin Liang Chunjing Feng Tingting Gao Yanxia Chen Ying Li Zai Wang Jianyan Wen Shengnan Yang Peipei Liu Lei Wang Yukai Wang Liang Peng Glyn Nigel Stacey Zheng Hu Guihai Feng Wei Li Yan Huo Ronghua Jin Ng Shyh-Chang Qi Zhou Liu Wang Baoyang Hu Huaping Dai Jie Hao 2020Cell Research2020,30,9:7
15Characterization of Carotenoid Accumulation and Carotenogenic Gene Expression During Fruit Development in Yellow and White Loquat Fruit显示文摘Accumulation of carotenoids in peel and pulp of the yellow-fleshe loquat ‘Zaozhong 6'(ZZ6) and the white-fleshe loquat ‘Baiyu'(BY) were tracked during different fruit development stages, and the expression of 15 carotenogenic genes were analyzed. During loquat fruit ripening the fresh weight content of β-carotene in peel and pulp of ZZ6 increased gradually and peaked at the fully ripe stage, reaching 68.53 μg·g^(-1)FW in the peel and 11.92 μg·g^(-1)FW in the pulp. In BY, the content of β-carotene in the peel increased and peaked at the fully ripe stage, reaching38.89 μg·g^(-1)FW, while it decreased in the pulp from the original 0.47 μg·g~(^(-1))FW and reduced to 0.29 μg·g~(^(-1))FW. The content of β-cryptoxanthin in the peel and pulp of ZZ6 and BY both increased steadily, and peaked at the fully ripe stage; however, the content of lutein decreased in the peel of ZZ6 and increased in the pulp, but in BY, it dropped and then rose in the peel. There was no significan change of β-cryptoxanthin in the pulp of BY. After the breaker stage, the m RNA levels of phytoene synthase(PSY) and chromoplast-specifi lycopene β-cyclase(CYCB) were higher in the peel, while CYCB and β-carotene hydroxylase(BCH) m RNAs were higher in the fles of ZZ6, compared with BY. 16Model tests on XCC-piled embankment under dynamic train load of high-speed railways显示文摘Piled embankments,which offer many advantages,are increasingly popular in construction of high-speed railways in China.Although the performance of piled embankment under static loading is well-known,the behavior under the dynamic train load of a high-speed railway is not yet understood.In light of this,a heavily instrumented piled embankment model was set up,and a model test was carried out,in which a servo-hydraulic actuator outputting M-shaped waves was adopted to simulate the process of a running train.Earth pressure,settlement,strain in the geogrid and pile and excess pore water pressure were measured.The results show that the soil arching height under the dynamic train load of a high-speed railway is shorter than under static loading.The growth trend for accumulated settlement slowed down after long-term vibration although there was still a tendency for it to increase.Accumulated geogrid strain has an increasing tendency after long-term vibration.The closer the embankment edge,the greater the geogrid strain over the subsoil.Strains in the pile were smaller under dynamic train loads,and their distribution was different from that under static loading.At the same elevation,excess pore water pressure under the track slab was greater than that under the embankment shoulder.Niu Tingting Liu Hanlong Ding Xuanming Zheng Changjie 2018Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2018,17,3:6

18Terahertz wavefront shaping with multi-channel polarization conversion based on all-dielectric metasurface显示文摘Polarization manipulation of electromagnetic wave or polarization multiplexed beam shaping based on metasurfaces has been reported in various frequency bands.However,it is difficult to shape the beam with multi-channel polarization conversion in a single metasurface.Here,we propose a new method for terahertz wavefront shaping with multi-channel polarization conversion via all-silicon metasurface,which is based on the linear shape birefringence effect in spatially interleaved anisotropic meta-atoms.By superimposing the eigen-and non-eigen-polarization responses of the two kinds of meta-atoms,we demonstrate the possibility for high-efficiency evolution of several typical polarization states with two independent channels for linearly polarized waves.The measured polarization conversion efficiency is higher than 70%in the range of 0.9–1.3 THz,with a peak value of 89.2%at 1.1 THz.In addition,when more other polarization states are incident,combined with the integration of sub-arrays,we can get more channels for both polarization conversion and beam shaping.Simulated and experimental results verify the feasibility of this method.The proposed method provides a new idea for the design of terahertz multi-functional metadevices.JIE LI CHENGLONG ZHENG JITAO LI GUOCUI WANG JINGYU LIU ZHEN YUE XUANRUO HAO YUE YANG FUYU LI TINGTING TANG YATING ZHANG YAN ZHANG JIANQUAN YAO 2021Photonics Research2021,9,10:5
19Preparation, structure and properties of Mg/Al laminated metal composites fabricated by roll-bonding, a review显示文摘Laminated metal composites(LMCs) are a unique composite material and have great application prospects in automobiles, ships, aircraft,and other manufacturing industries. As lightweight materials, the Mg/Al LMCs are expected to combine the advantages of both Mg and Al alloys to broaden their application prospects. Roll-bonding is the most popular process for the fabrication of Mg/Al LMCs due to high production efficiency and good product quality stability. The roll-bonding process involves the deformation of the substrates and the formation of the interfacial diffusion layer. The latter will directly determine the interface bonding strength of Mg/Al LMCs. Bonding strength is very sensitive to the thickness of the reaction layer in the diffusion layer. When the thickness of the reaction layer exceeds 5 μm, the bonding strength decreases sharply. Therefore, controlling the thickness of the reaction layer is very important for the design of rolling parameters.The latest research also showed that the addition of intermediate layer metal and the construction of three-dimensional interfaces can further improve the interface bonding strength. How to apply these methods to roll-bonding is the focus of future research. Recently, a new rolling technique, corrugated roll/plat roll rolling+flat roll/flat roll rolling has been developed to fabricate Mg/Al LMCs. It can effectively promote the deformation of the hard layer and generate a wavy interface, resulting in the enhancement of the bonding quality and rolling quality.In the current review, the effects of rolling parameters and subsequent annealing on the interface structure of Mg/Al LMCs were elaborated in detail. The application of some special rolling techniques in the preparation of Mg/Al LMCs was also summarized. The latest research results on the relationship between interface structure and mechanical properties of Mg/Al LMCs were reviewed. 20Surface-enhanced Raman Scattering on 2D Nanomaterials:Recent Developments and Applications显示文摘Surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy(SERS)has emerged as a highly powerful and sensitive tool for molecular analysis.Of the various factors that affect SERS performance,substrate material is the most critical.Since first observed in 1974,noble metals have been the most common substrates for SERS.However,their increasing defects including low selectivity,weak uniformity,and poor stability are all obstacles to these noble metal-based SERS substrates.Recently,due to the unique layer-dependent optical properties and a very large surface-to-volume ratio,two-dimensional(2D)nanomaterials are found to be promising candidates to overcome the shortcomings of a conventional metallic SERS sub-strate.Herein,we concentrate on the latest development and applications of SERS-active 2D nano-materials in our group as well as in other related research studies.The enhancement mechanism of the SERS effect and the development of various SERS-active 2D nanomaterials have been discussed in detail.Eventually,the latest development in 2D nanomaterial-SERS based analytical applications from trace detection of small organic pollutants and macromolecular biomarkers to in-situ cytosensing and in-situ theranostic analysis is introduced.Tingting Zheng Yan Zhou Enduo Feng Yang Tian 2021Chinese Journal of Chemistry2021,39,3:4
