1Bidirectional propagation of lightning leader显示文摘The characteristics of initial leader of triggered lightning flashes are studied by use of a highspeed digital camera system with the rate of 1000 frame per second and simultaneous measurements of current and electric field change with 0.1 μs time resolution. The results show that the altitude-triggered lightning was initiated by bidirectional propagation leader because of 'current interruption' by air gap,whereas the grounded-triggered one was not. The onset of downward-moving positive leader was prior to that of the upward-going negative leader for 843 ms in an altitude-triggered lightning under the positive ambient electric field. 2Developing a bacteriophage cocktail for biocontrol of potato bacterial wilt显示文摘Bacterial wilt is a devastating disease of potato and can cause an 80% production loss. To control wilt using bacteriophage therapy, we isolated and characterized twelve lytic bacteriophages from different water sources in Kenya and China. Based on the lytic curves of the phages with the pathogen Ralstonia solanacearum, one optimal bacteriophage cocktail, P1, containing six phage isolations was formulated and used for studying wilt prevention and treatment efficiency in potato plants growing in pots. The preliminary tests showed that the phage cocktail was very effective in preventing potato bacterial wilt by injection of the phages into the plants or decontamination of sterilized soil spiked with R. solanacearum. Eighty percent of potato plants could be protected from the bacterial wilt(caused by R. solanacearum reference strain GIM1.74 and field isolates), and the P1 cocktail could kill 98% of live bacteria spiked in the sterilized soil at one week after spraying.However, the treatment efficiencies of P1 depended on the timing of application of the phages, the susceptibility of the plants to the bacterial wilt, as well as the virulence of the bacteria infected,suggesting that it is important to apply the phage therapy as soon as possible once there are early signs of the bacterial wilt. 3Evaluation of three tracers for labeling distal cerebrospinal fluidcontacting neurons显示文摘It has been reported that distal cerebrospinal fluidcontacting neurons(dCSF-CNs)can be detected by immunohistochemical assay using cholera toxin subunit B-conjugated horseradish peroxidase(CBHRP).In the present study,another two methods with CB alone or CB-conjugated FITC(CB-FITC)were used,and the results from the three methods were compared.Adult Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups with CB-HRP,CB or CB-FITC.Tracers were diluted to 30%in artificial cerebrospinal fluid and injected separately(in a volume of 3μL)into the lateral ventricle.Animals from the CB-HRP and CB groups were perfused 48 h after surgery while animals from the CB-FITC group were perfused 1,3,6,12,24 or 48 h after surgery.The brain was sectioned(40μm)for immunofluorescence and five sections with positive neurons were selected from each rat for neuron counting.Three clusters of positive neurons in a'Y-like'distribution were detected ventral to the cerebral aqueduct of rats from the three groups.No significant difference was observed among the quantitative data.In the CB-FITC group,stable staining was detected even at 6 h after injection.Taken together,lateral ventricle injection of CB/CB-FITC is a useful method for labeling dCSFCNs in rats.The CB-FITC method makes dCSF-CNs labeling much simpler and more convenient.Fang Zhou Jiayou Wang Hongxing Zhang He Liu Guangping Zhao Cuihua Zu Xiaoxing Lu Licai Zhang 2013Neuroscience Bulletin2013,29,5:7
4Heat oscillation in the upper ocean of the southern South China Sea显示文摘Data used in this study are temperature/depth profiles taken over the upper 400 m of the ocean in the southern South China Sea (4°-14° N, 106°-120° E) for the period 1961-1973. The data are analyzed on the grid 2 (latitude) by 2 (longitude) in space and bimonthly in time. The vertically averaged temperature (TAV) over the upper 100 m of the ocean is calculated as the estimate of the heat content in the upper ocean.The TAV is cooler in the northwest region of the study area and warmer in the southeast in the annual and seasonal mean figures. The first EOF (Empirical Orthogonal Function) of anomalous TAV accounts for 41 % of the total variance for the period 1961-1973. The time function associated with it displays a significant interannual changes in the heat content, with 2-4 a oscillation period and associated with the ENSO events. During ENSO event TAV increases with the tendency of increasing towards equator along the basin. 5Gold Resources Potential Assessment in Eastern Kunlun Mountains of China Combining Weights-of-evidence Model with GIS Spatial Analysis Technique显示文摘Resources potential assessment is one of the fields in geosciences,which is able to take great advantage of GIS technology as a substitution of traditional working methods.The gold resources potential in the eastern Kunlun Mountains,Qinghai Province,China was assessed by combining weights-of-evidence model with GIS spatial analysis technique.All the data sets used in this paper were derived from an established multi-source geological spatial database,which contains geological,geophysical,geochemical and remote sensing data.Three multi-class variables,i.e.,structural intersection,Indosinian k-feldspar granite and regional fault,were used in proximity analysis to examine their spatial association with known gold deposits.A prospectivity map was produced by weights-of-evidence model based on seven binary evidential maps,all of which had passed a conditional independence test.The study area was divided into three target zones of high potential,moderate potential and low potential areas,among which high potential areas and moderate potential areas accounted for 20% of the total area and contained 32 of the 43 gold deposits.The results show that the gold resources potential assessment in the eastern Kunlun Mountains has a higher precision.HE Binbin CHEN Cuihua LIU Yue 2010Chinese Geographical Science2010,20,5:4
6Comparative growth and viability of hybrids between two populations of Chinese shrimp (Fennropenaeus chinensis)显示文摘Fenneropenaeus chinensis is confined to the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea in China and the West Coast of the Korean Peninsula. Intra- and in- tercross populations were produced between Rushany (YP) and Korean (KN) populations. Seven traits were recorded. The heterosis of hybrids was computed and comparison between treatments was performed by ANOVA. At the fourth month after post-larvae, six indexes of growth trait and viability showed a range of heterosis, ranging from 0.514% to 14.950%. At the fifth month after post-larvae, six in- dexes of growth trait and viability ranged from -9.000% to 19.090%. The negative heterosis was observed in CL, HST and viability. The heterosis of KN♀×YP♂ tended generally to increase as the age of the Chinese shrimp increased while the heterosis of YP♀×KN♂ tended to decrease. The results indicated that the viability of reciprocal hybrids were not sig- nificantly different (P>0.05) from their parents during the experiment. The result of ANOVA indicated that the F1 hybrids were significantly different (P<0.05) in WST and TW at the fourth month. The multiple comparisons of LSD test indicated that the hybrids of YP♀×KN♂ were significantly different (P<0.05) from their parents in TW. The hybrids of YP♀×KN♂ were significantly different (P<0.05) from the other three combinations in WST. At the fifth months, the F1 hy- brids had significant difference (P<0.05) in body weight while other traits showed no significant dif-ferences (P>0.05) from their parents. The multiple comparisons of LSD test indicated that the hybrids of KN♀×YP♂ were significantly different (P<0.05) from the KN parents in TW. The results indicate that in experimental conditions, the F1 hybrids created from two populations of Chinese shrimp showed a certain level of heterosis for growth performance and viability. The crossing scheme may improve growth perform- ance and viability in Chinese shrimp, but the im- provement may be limited because effective cross- breeding requires the maintenance of pure, prefera- bly inbred, lines and possibly involves specialized sire and dam lines. Therefore, the exploitation of heterosis through single crossbreeding in Chinese shrimp is of limited utility in practical commercial shrimp aquaculture in spite of the potential of signifi- cant heterosis. 9DFT study on the interaction of HCHO molecule with S-doped TiO_(2) (001) surface without and with water and oxygen molecules显示文摘The interactions of formaldehyde(HCHO)molecule with S-doped anatase TiO_(2)(001)surface without and with water and oxygen were studied by density functional theory(DFT).The adsorption energy of HCHO adsorption on S-doped TiO_(2) surface with water and oxygen(-709.62 kJ/mol)is much larger than that without water and oxygen(-312.14 kJ/mol).For HCHO adsorption system without water and oxygen,one CeH bond of HCHO molecule is broken.The oxygen and carbon atoms of HCHO are bonded to the titanium and sulfur atoms of SeTiO_(2) surface,respectively,and form a CH_(2)OS structure.For the system with water and oxygen,H_(2)O and HCHO molecules are both dissociated.HCHO molecule not only interacts with TiO_(2) surface,but also combines with O_(2) molecule.Two CeH bonds of HCHO are broken,one hydrogen atom(H1)is bonded to the sulfur atom(S)of TiO_(2) surface doping,while another hydrogen atom(H_(2))is bonded to the O atom(O_(2))of O_(2) molecule.The remaining CeO bond can be oxidized to form CO_(2) in subsequent action by oxygen from the atmosphere.The surface doping of sulfur have significant impact on the degradation of HCHO molecule on anatase TiO_(2)(001)surface with H_(2)O and O_(2).Guofei Wu Cuihua Zhao Xi Zhou Jianhua Chen Yuqiong Li 2019Journal of Materiomics2019,5,4:3
10Increase in medium-size rainfall events will enhance the C-sequestration capacity of biological soil crusts显示文摘Biological soil crusts(BSCs) play important roles in the carbon(C) balance in arid regions. Net C balance of BSCs is strongly dependent on rainfall and consequent activation of microbes in the BSCs. The compensation-rainfall size for BSCs(the minimum rainfall amount for a positive net C balance) is assumed to be different with BSCs of different developmental stages. A field experiment with simulated rainfall amount(SRA) of 0, 1, 5, 10, 20, and 40 mm was conducted to examine the C fluxes and compensation-rainfall size of BSCs in different parts of fixed dunes in the ecotone between the Badain Jaran Desert and the Minqin Oasis. We found algae-lichen crust on the interdunes and crest, algae crust on the leeward side, and lichen-moss crust on the windward. Even a small rainfall(1 mm) can activate both photosynthesis and respiration of all types of BSCs. The gross ecosystem production, ecosystem respiration, and net ecosystem exchange were significantly affected by SRA, hours after the simulated rainfall, position on a dune, and their interactions. The rapid activation of photosynthesis provides a C source and therefore could be responsible for the increase of C efflux after each rewetting. C-uptake and-emission capacity of all the BSCs positively correlated with rainfall size, with the lowest C fluxes on the leeward side. The compensation rainfall for a net C uptake was 3.80, 15.54, 8.62, and 1.88 mm for BSCs on the interdunes, the leeward side, the crest, and the windward side, respectively. The whole dune started to show a net C uptake with an SRA of 5 mm and maximized with an SRA of about 30 mm. The compensation-rainfall size is negatively correlated with chlorophyll content. 11adipokines 的新兴的角色作为在动脉粥样硬化的调停人显示文摘Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease is a major health problem around the world.Obesity is a primary risk factor for atherosclerosis and is associated with increased morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular diseases.However,the precise molecular pathways underlying this close association remain poorly understood.Adipokines are cytokines,chemokines and hormones secreted by adipose tissue that couple the regulation of lipid accumulation,inflammation,and atherogenesis,and therefore serve to link obesity with cardiovascular disorders.Obesity-related disorders including metabolic syndrome,diabetes,atherosclerosis,hypertension,and coronary artery disease are associated with dysregulated adipokine(s) expression.Recent studies demonstrate the proinflammatory effects as well as atherogenic properties of adipokines.Adipokines also participate in the regulation of endothelial function,which is an early event in atherosclerosis.By contrast,adiponectin,an adipocyte-derived hormone,exerts anti-inflammatory,anti-atherogenic and vascular protective effects.Furthermore,there is an interactive association among adipokines,by which adipokines reciprocally regulate each other’s expression.Understanding this interplay may reveal plausible mechanisms for treating atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease by modulating adipokine(s) expression.In this review,we discuss insights into the role and the therapeutic potential of adipokines as mediators of atherosclerosis.Hanrui Zhang Jian Cui Cuihua Zhang 2010World Journal of Cardiology2010,2,11:2
12DFT study for combined influence of C-doping and external electric field on electronic structure and optical properties of TiO_(2)(001)surface显示文摘The electron structure and optical properties of C-TiO_(2)(001)surface under external electric field were studied by DFT method.After carbon doping,a new impurity level is introduced in the bandgap region of TiO_(2)(001)surface,and leads to the decrease of band gap,contributing to the shift of optical absorption to the visible region.When external electric field is applied across the C-TiO_(2)(001)surface,the band gap is further reduced with the increase of the electric field intensity from 0.1 eV to 0.5 eV.The electric field over 0.5 eV induces the electronic polarization.The spin-up bands show a gap,while spin-down electrons correspond to a metallic state.The energy gap of spin-up band decreases with increasing the electric field from 0.7 eV to 1.0 eV.The optical absorption of C-TiO_(2)(001)shifts to long wavelength compared with pure TiO_(2)(001).The electric filed make the optical absorption red-shift further,and the shift increases with an increase of the electric field,especially in the range of 0.7 eV-1.0 eV.The results show that the combined effect of carbon doping and electric field can enhance the photocatalytic activity of TiO_(2)(001)surface in visible region.Cuihua Zhao Dewei Huang Jianhua Chen 2018Journal of Materiomics2018,4,3:2
