1Transition of electric activity of neurons induced by chemical and electric autapses显示文摘Autapse connected to the neuron can change the electric activity of neuron. The effect of autapse on neuronal activity is often described by adding an additive forcing current along a close loop, which is described by a time-delayed feedback on the membrane potential. Neuron often responds to electric autapse forcing sensitively and quickly, while the chemical autapse changes the electric activity of neuron slowly. By applying external forcing, a shift transition of electric activity can be more easily induced by the electric autapse than the chemical autapse. Our results confirm that chemical autapse can enhance and/or suppress the transition of electric activity with excitable or inhibitory type driven by electric autapse, vice versa. It indicates that an appropriate switch-off-on for autapse can make the neuron give different types of response to external forcing. 2Immunohistochemical prognostic markers of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma:a systematic review显示文摘Background: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC) is an aggressive malignancy, with a high incidence and poor prognosis. In the past several decades, hundreds of proteins have been reported to be associated with the prognosis of ESCC, but none has been widely accepted to guide clinical care. This study aimed to identify proteins with great potential for predicting prognosis of ESCC.Methods: We conducted a systematic review on immunohistochemical(IHC) prognostic markers of ESCC according to the 2009 Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses(PRISMA) Guidelines. Literature related to IHC prognostic markers of ESCC were searched from PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library until January 30 th, 2017. The risk of bias of these original studies was evaluated using the Quality in Prognosis Studies(QUIPS) tool.Results: We identified 11 emerging IHC markers with reproducible results, including eight markers [epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR), Cyclin D1, vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF), Survivin, Podoplanin, Fascin,phosphorylated mammalian target of rapamycin(p-mTOR), and pyruvate kinase M2(PKM2)] indicating unfavorable prognosis and 3 markers(P27, P16, and E-cadherin) indicating favorable prognosis of ESCC.Conclusion: Strong evidence supports that these 11 emerging IHC markers or their combinations may be useful in predicting prognosis and aiding personalized therapy decision-making for ESCC patients.Chunni Wang Jingnan Wang Zhaoli Chen Yibo Gao Jie He 2017Chinese Journal of Cancer2017,36,11:16
3Dynamics of electric activities in neuron and neurons of network induced by autapses显示文摘The effect of autapse on adjusting the membrane of potentials of neuron is described by imposing a time-delayed feedback on the membrane of neuron in a close loop type,and the Hindmarsh-Rose(HR)neuron under autapse is investigated.Firstly,the electric activity of single HR neuron under electric autapse and chemical autapse is investigated.It is found that quiescent neuron is activated due to appropriate time delay and feedback gain in the autapse,and the autapse plays an important role in waking up neuron.The parameter region for periodic,chaotic activity of neuron under autapse is calculated in a numerical way,and transition from spiking to bursting is observed by increasing the feedback gain and time delay carefully.Furthermore,the collective electric activities of neurons in a ring network is investigated and abundant electric activities are observed due to the competition between the autapse and the time-delayed coupling between adjacent neurons in the network,and time delay in coupling between neurons also plays an important role in enhancing synchronization in the network.QIN HuiXin MA Jun JIN WuYin WANG ChunNi 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,5:15
4Autapse-induced target wave, spiral wave in regular network of neurons显示文摘Autapse is a type of synapse that connects axon and dendrites of the same neuron, and the effect is often detected by close-loop feedback in axonal action potentials to the owned dendritic tree. An artificial autapse was introduced into the Hindmarsh-Rose neuron model, and a regular network was designed to detect the regular pattern formation induced by autapse. It was found that target wave emerged in the network even when only a single autapse was considered. By increasing the(autapse density) number of neurons with autapse, for example, a regular area(2×2, 3×3, 4×4, 5×5 neurons) under autapse induced target wave by selecting the feedback gain and time-delay in autapse. Spiral waves were also observed under optimized feedback gain and time delay in autapses because of coherence-like resonance in the network induced by some electric autapses connected to some neurons. This confirmed that the electric autapse has a critical role in exciting and regulating the collective behaviors of neurons by generating stable regular waves(target waves, spiral waves) in the network. 5SIDT1-dependent absorption in the stomach mediates host uptake of dietary and orally administered microRNAs显示文摘Dietary microRNAs have been shown to be absorbed by mammals and regulate host gene expression,but the absorption mechanism remains unknown.Here,we show that SIDT1 expressed on gastric pit cells in the stomach is required for the absorption of dietary microRNAs.SIDT1-deficient mice show reduced basal levels and impaired dynamic absorption of dietary microRNAs.Notably,we identified the stomach as the primary site for dietary microRNA absorption,which is dramatically attenuated in the stomachs of SIDT1-deficient mice.Mechanistic analyses revealed that the uptake of exogenous microRNAs by gastric pit cells is SIDT1 and low-pH dependent.Furthermore,oral administration of plant-derived miR2911 retards liver fibrosis,and this protective effect was abolished in SIDT1-deficient mice.Our findings reveal a major mechanism underlying the absorption of dietary microRNAs,uncover an unexpected role of the stomach and shed light on developing small RNA therapeutics by oral delivery.Qun Chen Fan Zhang Lei Dong Huimin Wu Jie Xu Hanqin Li Jin Wang Zhen Zhou Chunyan Liu Yanbo Wang Yuyan Liu Liangsheng Lu Chen Wang Minghui Liu Xi Chen Cheng Wang Chunni Zhang Dangsheng Li Ke Zen Fangyu Wang Qipeng Zhang Chen-Yu Zhang 2021Cell Research2021,31,3:10

7Phase coupling synchronization of FHN neurons connected by a Josephson junction显示文摘Avariety of nonlinear circuits can be tamed to reproduce the main dynamical properties in neural activities for biological neurons while designing reliable artificial synapses for connecting these neural circuits becomes a challenge.In this paper,a Josephson junction is used to build coupling channel for connecting two FitzHugh-Nagumo neural circuits driven by periodical voltage source.The hybrid synapse is designed by using a linear resistor paralleled with a Josephson junction,which can estimate the effect of external magnetic field by generating additive phase error between the junction.Indeed,it activates nonlinear coupling due to phase diversity in the Josephson junction.The coupled circuits are estimated in dimensionless dynamical systems by applying scale transformation on the variables and parameters in neural circuits.In fact,the intrinsic parameters of coupling channel are adjusted to detect the occurrence of synchronization.Bifurcation analysis is calculated to predict and confirm the occurrence of synchronization between two neural circuits.It is found that synchronization can be stabilized between two FHN neural circuits by selecting appropriate values for parameters in the Josephson junction involved in the coupling channel.It gives useful guidance for implementing artificial synapse for signal processing in neural circuits.ZHANG Yin WANG ChunNi TANG Jun MA Jun REN GuoDong 2020Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,11:6
8Long-term effects of silver nanoparticles on performance of phosphorus removal in a laboratory-scale vertical flow constructed wetland显示文摘Silver nanoparticles(AgNPs)have been widely used in many fields,which raised concerns about potential threats to biological sewage treatment systems.In this study,the phosphorus removal performance,enzymatic activity and microbial population dynamics in constructed wetlands(CWs)were evaluated under a long-term exposure to Ag NPs(0,50,and 200μg/L)for 450 days.Results have shown that Ag NPs inhibited the phosphorus removal efficiency in a short-term exposure,whereas caused no obviously negative effects from a long-term perspective.Moreover,in the coexisting CW system of Ag NPs and phosphorus,competition exhibited in the initial exposure phase,however,cooperation between them was observed in later phase.Enzymatic activity of acid-phosphatase at the moderate temperature(10–20℃)was visibly higher than that at the high temperature(20–30℃)and CWs with Ag NPs addition had no appreciable differences compared with the control.High-throughput sequencing results indicated that the microbial richness,diversity and composition of CWs were distinctly affected with the extension of exposure time at different Ag NPs levels.However,the phosphorus removal performance of CWs did not decline with the decrease of polyphosphate accumulating organisms(PAOs),which also confirmed that adsorption precipitation was the main way of phosphorus removal in CWs.The study suggested that Ag NPs and phosphorus could be removed synergistically in the coexistence system.This work has some reference for evaluating the influences of Ag NPs on the phosphorus removal and the interrelation between them in CWs.Juan Huang Jun Xiao Yang Guo Wenzu Guan Chong Cao Chunni Yan Mingyu Wang 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,1:5
9Emergence of target waves in neuronal networks due to diverse forcing currents显示文摘The electric activities of neurons could be changed when ion channel block occurs in the neurons.External forcing currents with diversity are imposed on the regular network of Hodgkin-Huxley(HH) neuron,and target waves are induced to occupy the network.The forcing current I1 is imposed on neurons in a local region with m 0 ×m 0 nodes in the network,neurons in other nodes are imposed with another forcing current I2.Target wave could be developed to occupy the network when the gradient forcing current(I1-I2) exceeds certain threshold,and the formation of target wave is independent of the selection of boundary condition.It is also found that the developed target wave can decrease the negative effect of ion channel block and suppress the spiral wave,and thus channel noise is also considered.The potential mechanism of formation of target wave could be that the gradient forcing current(I1-I2) generates quasi-periodical signal in local area,and the propagation of quasi-periodical signal induces target-like wave due to mutual coupling among neurons in the network.MA Jun WANG ChunNi YING HePing WU Ying CHU RunTong 2013Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2013,56,6:4

11Cellular automaton modeling of austenite formation from ferrite plus pearlite microstructures during intercritical annealing of a C-Mn steel显示文摘A mesoscopic cellular automaton model was developed to study the microstructure evolution and solute redistribution of austenization during intercritical annealing of a C-Mn steel. This model enables a depiction of three-stage kinetics of the transformation combined with the thermodynamic analysis:(1) the rapid austenite growth accompanied with pearlite degeneration until the pearlite dissolves completely;(2) the slower austenite growth into ferrite with a rate limiting factor of carbon diffusion in austenite;and(3) the slow austenite growth in control of the manganese diffusion until the final equilibrium reached for ferrite and austenite.
