3Extending SSD Lifespan with Comprehensive Non-Volatile Memory-Based Write Buffers显示文摘New non-volatile memory (NVM)technologies are expected to replace main memory DRAM (dynamic random access memory)in the near future.NAND flash technological breakthroughs have enabled wide adoption of solid state drives (SSDs)in storage systems.However,flash-based SSDs,by nature,cannot avoid low endurance problems because each cell only allows a limited number of erasures.This can give rise to critical SSD reliability issues.Since many SSD write operations eventually cause many SSD erase operations,reducing SSD write traffic plays a crucial role in SSD reliability. This paper proposes two NVM-based buffer cache policies which can work together in different layers to maximally reduce SSD write traffic:a main memory buffer cache design named Hierarchical Adaptive Replacement Cache (H-ARC)and an internal SSD write buffer design named Write Traffic Reduction Buffer (WRB).H-ARC considers four factors (dirty,clean, recency,and frequency)to reduce write traffic and improve cache hit ratios in the host.WRB reduces block erasures and write traffic further inside an SSD by effectively exploiting temporal and spatial localities.These two comprehensive schemes significantly reduce total SSD write traffic at each different layer (i.e.,host and SSD)by up to 3x.Consequently,they help extend SSD lifespan without system performance degradation.Ziqi Fan Dongchul Park 2019Journal of Computer Science & Technology2019,34,1:1

6Electrodeposited copper oxides with a suppressed interfacial amorphous phase using mixed-crystalline ITO and their enhanced photoelectrochemical performances显示文摘The effectiveness of photoelectrochemical(PEC)water splitting is significantly restricted by insufficient light harvesting,rapid charge recombination,and slow water reduction kinetics.Since the presence of amorphous phases in the interfaces hinders the overcome of these inherent limitations,a photoelectrode must be built strategically.Herein,we artificially controlled the crystallographic orientation of indium tin oxide(ITO)to determine the orientation with the smallest lattice mismatch at the Cu_(2)O interface,thus significantly reducing the amorphous phase in the early stage of electrodeposition nucleation.The[222]/[400]mixed orientation ITO primarily exposed the{400}surface planes and accelerated charge transfer by forming an optimal interface with preferentially grown(111)oriented Cu_(2)O and minimized amorphous region.In addition,the ITO surface energy was calculated using density functional theory to theoretically verify which plane is more active for growing the photoactivation layer.The rationally designed ITO/Cu_(2)O/Al-dope Zn O/TiO_(2)/Rh-P device,with each layer serving a specific purpose,achieved a photocurrent density of 8.23 mA cm^(-2)at 0 VRHEunder AM 1.5 G illumination,providing a standard method for effective solar-to-hydrogen conversion photocathodes.Ji Hoon Choi Hae-Jun Seok Dongchul Sung Dong Su Kim Hak Hyeon Lee Suklyun Hong Han-Ki Kim Hyung Koun Cho 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,7:1

13The westward intrusion of south Pacific water at the western tip of the New Guinea Island显示文摘From the eastern Indonesian cruise from November 14 to 23, 2007, CTD (conductivity, temperature, depth profiler) /ADCP (acoustic Doppler current profiler)casting and seawater sampling were done at 25 stations around Waigeo Island near New Guinea Island. It was found overall westward intrusion of the south Pacific waters into the Seram Sea and southward spreading of the north and south Pacific waters into the Seram Sea. There is westward residual flow along the channel between Waigeo and New Guinea within upper 200 m with the maximum speed up to 50 cm/s, and much weaker eastward flow in the lower layer (< 10 cm/s) due to blocking by the shallow sill at the west of the Dampier Strait. The abrupt change of bottom topography induces active horizontal and vertical mixing which results in a three-layered current system with a major through-flow of -0.99 Sv (Sv = 10 6 m 3 /s) into the Seram Sea; the transports in the upper and the lower layers are -1.14 Sv and -0.24 Sv (westward), respectively, and in the middle there is a return flow with the transport of +0.39 Sv (eastward).KIM Eung JEON Dongchull Hadikusumah 2013Acta Oceanologica Sinica2013,32,1:0
