1Biogenic silica in intertidal marsh plants and associated sediments of the Yangtze Estuary显示文摘Biogenic silica (BSi) contents in the marsh plants (Phragmites australis, Scirpus mariqueter and Spartina alterniflora) and associated sediments in Chongming Island eastern intertidal flat of the Yangtze Estuary were determined. The BSi contents in P. australis, S. mariqueter and S. alterniflora varied from 25.78-42.74 mg/g, 5.71-19.53 mg/g and 6.71-8.92 mg/g, respectively. Over the entire growth season, P. australis and S. mariqueter were characterized by linear accumulation patterns of BSi. The aboveground biomass (leaves and culms) of the marsh plants generally contained more BSi than underground biomass (roots). BSi contents were relatively higher in dead plant tissues than in live tissues which was probably due to the decomposition and the leaching of labile components of plant tissues such as organic carbon and nitrogen. Comparing with the habitats of S. mariqueter and S. alterniflora, the highest BSi content was recorded in sediments inhabited by P. australis, with an annual average of 15.69 mg/g. 3The diffusive fluxes of inorganic nitrogen across the intertidal sediment-water interface of the Changjiang Estuary in China显示文摘Ammonium and nitrate concentrations were analyzed in near-bottom water and pore water collected from ten stations of the intertidal flat of the Changjiang Estuary during April, July, November and February. The magnitudes of the benthic exchange fluxes were determined on the basis of concentration gradients of ammonium and nitrate at the near-bottom water and interstitial water interface in combination with calculations of a modified Fick’s first law. Ammonium fluxes varied from-5.05 to 1.43 μg/(cm 2 ·d) and were greatly regulated by the production of ammonium in surface sediments, while nitrate fluxes ranged from-0.38 to 1.36 μg/(cm 2 ·d) and were dominated by nitrate concentrations in the tidal water. It was found that ammonium was mainly released from sediments into water columns at most of stations whereas nitrate was mostly diffused from overlying waters to intertidal sediments. In total, 823.75 t/a ammonium-N was passed from intertidal sediments to water while about 521.90 t/a nitrate-N was removed from overlying waters to intertidal sediments. 4Analysis of the Anomalous Strength and Location of the ITCZ Affecting the Formation of Northern Pacific Typhoons显示文摘Using the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis dataset from 1959-2004, the location and strength of the ITCZ (Inter-Tropical Con- vergence Zone), as well as their relations with typhoons in the northwestern Pacific were studied. It was found that the pentad loca- tion and strength of the ITCZ had close relations with the typhoon frequency. Higher latitude location or strengthened ITCZ were found to be favorable for the occurrence of typhoons over the Northwestern Pacific. An index was defined for ascertaining the loca- tion of the ITCZ. It was found that the index defined with the maximum value of pentad and monthly meridional shear of zonal wind speed could better describe the location of ITCZ than another index defined with the maximum value of convergence. Correlation analysis between the index of ITCZ and the maximum cloud cover in the tropics showed that there were close relations between the ITCZ determined by the index and the maximum tropical cloud belt. The strength index of an ITCZ was defined as the zonal wind speed difference at latitudes south and north of the ITCZ. 5Automatic segmentation of foveal avascular zone based on adaptive watershed algorithm in retinal optical coherence tomography angiography images显示文摘The size and shape of the foveal avascular zone(FAZ)have a strong positive correlation with several vision-threatening ret inovascular diseases.The identification,segmentation and analysis of FAZ are of great significance to clinical diagnosis and treatment.We presented an adaptive watershed algorithm to automatically extract F AZ from retinal optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)images.For the traditional watershed algorithm,'over-segmentation'is the most common problem.FAZ is often incorrectly divided into multiple regions by redundant'dams'.This paper analyzed the relationship between the'dams'length and the maximum inscribed circle radius of FAZ,and proposed an adaptive watershed algorithm to solve the problem of'over-segmentation'.Here,132 healthy retinal images and 50 diabetic retinopathy(DR)images were used to verify the accuracy and stability of the algorithm.Three ophthal-mologists were invited to make quan titative and qualitative evaluations on the segmentation results of this algorithm.The quantitative evaluation results show that the correlation coffi-cients between the automatic and manual segmentation results are 0.945(in healthy subjects)and 0.927(in DR patients),respectively.For qualitative evaluation,the percentages of'perfect segmentation'(score of 3)and'good segmentation'(score of 2)are 99.4%(in healthy subjects)and 98.7%(in DR patients),respectively.This work promotes the application of watershed algorithm in FAZ segmentation,making it a useful tool for analyzing and diagnosing eye diseases.Jian Liu Shixin Yan Nan Lu Dongni Yang Chunhui Fan Hongyu Lv Shuanglian Wang in Zhu Yuqian Zhao Yi Wang Zhenhe Ma Yao Yu 2022Journal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences2022,15,1:3
6High-throughput 16S rDNA sequencing of the pulmonary microbiome of rats with allergic asthma显示文摘A decrease in microbial infection in adolescents is implicated with an increase in the incidence of asthma and allergic diseases in adulthood,indicating that the microbiome plays a critical role in asthma.However,the microbial composition of the lower respiratory tract remains unclear,hindering the further exploration of the pathogenesis of asthma.This study aims to explore the microbial distribution and composition in the lungs of normal rats and rats with allergic asthma via 16S rDNA sequencing.The DNA of the pulmonary microbiome was extracted from the left lungs collected from normal control group(NC),saline control group(SC),and allergic asthma group(AA)under aseptic conditions.After the 16s rDNA V4eV5 region was amplified,the products were sequenced using Illumina high-throughput technology and subjected to operational taxonomic unit(OTU)cluster and taxonomy analysis.The OTU values of AA increased significantly compared with those of NC and SC.Microbiome structure analysis showed that the dominant phylum of the pulmonary microbiome changed from Proteobacteria in NC to Firmicutes in AA.Linear discriminant analysis indicated that the key microbiomes involved in the three groups varied.Yang Xiong Sen Hu Hongyao Zhou Hui Zeng Xuan He Dongni Huang Xiaoyu Li 2020Genes & Diseases2020,7,2:2

8Micro/nano-mechanical behaviors of individual FCC,BCC and FCC/BCC interphase in a high-entropy alloy显示文摘Here,a systematic investigation was made on the interphase strengthening effects induced superior me-chanical performances of multiphase high-entropy alloys(HEAs)at micro/nano-scale,compared with sin-gle phase HEAs.A pillar compression test under a scanning electron microscope(SEM)was performed on the individual face centered cubic(FCC),body centered cubic(BCC),and mixed-phases with different di-ameters in a Fe_(24)Co_(25)Ni_(24)Cr_(23)Al_(4)HEA using focused ion beam(FIB)milling and a nanoindenter equipped with a flat punch.The stress-strain response of pillar underneath the indenter was selected to explore the diameter/phase-dependent size effect,the periodically fluctuation of local stress,and strain hardening.It was revealed that the pillars at the interphase exhibited significantly higher strength,compared with the FCC and BCC pillars.An experiment also verified the coincident mechanical size effects independent with the type of phases.The stress responses in the mixed-phase pillars manifested as a distinct transition from the dramatic drop to the minor fluctuation during the post-yield stages with the increasing strain,indicating the propagation of Al-Ni enriched solid solution phase(BCC1)under compression.Except the BCC1 phase,numerous dislocations were observed in the post-deformed pillars,particularly serving as the major source to enhance the strain hardening of BCC pillars.Wei Zhang Zhichao Ma Chaofan Li Chaowei Guo Dongni Liu Hongwei Zhao Luquan Ren 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,19:1

15Mechanism of high-concentration electrolyte inhibiting the destructive effect of Mn(Ⅱ)on the performance of lithium-ion batteries显示文摘By optimizing electrolyte formulation to inhibit the deposition of transition metal ions(TMIs) on the surface of the graphite anode is an effective way to improve the electrochemical performance of lithium-ion batteries.At present,it is generally believed the formation of an effective interfacial film on the surface of the anode electrode is the leading factor in reducing the dissolution of TMIs and prevent TMIs from being embedded in the electrode.It ignores the influence of the solvation structures in the electrolyte system with different composition,and is not conducive to the design of the electrolyte formulation from the perspective of changing the concentration and the preferred solvent to inhibit the degradation of battery performance caused by TMIs deposition.In this work,by analyzing the special solvation structures of the high-concentra tion electrolyte,we study the main reason why high-concentration electrolyte inhibits the destructive effect of Mn(Ⅱ) on the electrochemical performance of LIBs.By combining the potentialresolved in-situ electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technology(PRIs-EIS) and density functional theory(DFT) calculation,we find that Mn(Ⅱ) mainly exists in the form of contact ions pairs(CIPs) and aggregates(AGGs) in high-concentration electrolyte.These solvation structures can reduce the destructive effect of Mn(Ⅱ) on battery performance from two aspects:on the one hand,it can rise the lowest unoccupied orbital(LUMO) value of the solvation structures of Mn(Ⅱ),thereby reducing the chance of its reduction;on the other hand,the decrease of Mn2+ions reduction can reduce the deposition of metallic manganese in the solid electrolyte interphase(SEI),thereby avoiding the continuous growth of the SEI.This study can be provided inspiration for the design of electrolytes to inhibit the destructive effect of TMls on LIBs.Xiaoling Cui Jinlong Sun Dongni Zhao Jingjing Zhang Jie Wang Hong Dong Peng Wang Junwei Zhang Shumin Wu Linhu Song Ningshuang Zhang Chunlei Li Shiyou Li 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,3:1
16Impact of Autumn SST in the Japan Sea on Winter Rainfall and Air Temperature in Northeast China显示文摘We studied the impact of sea surface temperature anomaly(SSTA) in the Japan Sea and the sea area east of Japan on the winter rainfall and air temperature in Northeast(NE) China using the singular value decomposition(SVD) and empirical orthogonal function(EOF). The monthly-mean rainfall data observed at 160 stations in China, monthly-mean sea surface temperature(SST) of the Hadley Center for Climate Prediction and Research and monthly-mean air temperature from the NCEP reanalysis during 1960–2011 were used. Correlation analysis indicates that the SSTAs in the Japan Sea in September may last for three or four months and are an important index for forecasting the winter rainfall and air temperature in NE China. Positive SSTAs in the central Japan Sea and in the sea area east of Tokyo correspond to positive rainfall anomaly and negative air temperature anomaly in NE China. With the rise of SST in the Japan Sea, a weak cyclone appears over the Japan Sea. The northeasterly wind transports water vapor from the Okhotsk to NE China, resulting in more rainfall and lower air temperature. Negative SSTA years are accompanied by warmer air temperature and less snow in NE China. 18Comparative efficacy of traditional Chinese herbal injection for chronic renal failure:A systematic review and network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials显示文摘Objective: To conduct a systematic review and network meta-analysis(NMA) for the comparison of the efficacy and safety of Chinese herbal injection(CHI) combined with Western medicine(WM) and WM monotherapy for chronic renal failure(CRF).Methods: Eight databases were searched from inception to August 30, 2022. Randomized controlled trials(RCTs) regarding the comparison of CHI-WM combination therapy and WM monotherapy were included. Literature search, risk-of-bias assessment, and data extraction were conducted by 2 reviewers independently. NMA was performed by Stata 14.0, R 4.0.4 software, and the latest risk of bias assessment tool 2(RoB 2).Results: A total of 53 RCTs were finally included, involving 4445 participants and 16 CHIs. RoB 2 showed that 2 of these studies had a high risk of bias. Tianqi injection(TQ) + WM was the most effective in reducing serum creatinine(Scr) level. Xingding injection(XD) + WM was the most effective in reducing blood urea nitrogen(BUN) and cystatin C(Cys C) levels. Guhong injection(GH) + WM had the highest endogenous creatinine clearance rate(Ccr). Shuxuetong injection(SXT) + WM was the most effective in improving the clinical effective rate. Danhong injection(DH) + WM resulted in the lowest 24-h urinary protein quantity(24 h-UPQ), while Danshen injection(DS) + WM led to the lowest blood uric acid(UA)level. 19Predicting the Risk of Preterm Birth Throughout Pregnancy Based on a Novel Transcriptomic Signature显示文摘Objective::This study focused on the prediction of preterm birth(PTB).It aimed to identify the transcriptomic signature essential for the occurrence of PTB and evaluate its predictive value in early,mid,and late pregnancy and in women with threatened preterm labor(TPTL).Methods::Blood transcriptome data of pregnant women were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus database.The activity of biological signatures was assessed using gene set enrichment analysis and single-sample gene set enrichment analysis.The correlation among molecules in the interleukin 6(IL6)signature and between IL6 signaling activity and the gestational week of delivery and latent period were evaluated by Pearson correlation analysis.The effects of molecules associated with the IL6 signature were fitted using logistic regression analysis;the predictive value of both the IL6 signature and IL6 alone were evaluated using receiver operating characteristic curves and pregnancy maintenance probability was assessed using Kaplan-Meier analysis.Differential analysis was performed using the DEseq2 and limma algorithms.Results::Circulatory IL6 signaling activity increased significantly in cases with preterm labor than in those with term pregnancies(normalized enrichment score(NES)=1.857,P=0.001).The IL6 signature(on which IL6 signaling is based)was subsequently considered as the candidate biomarker for PTB.The area under the curve(AUC)values for PTB prediction(using the IL6 signature)in early,mid,and late pregnancy were 0.810,0.695,and 0.779,respectively;these values were considerably higher than those for IL6 alone.In addition,the pregnancy curves of women with abnormal IL6 signature differed significantly from those with normal signature.In pregnant women who eventually had preterm deliveries,circulatory IL6 signaling activity was lower in early pregnancy(NES=-1.420,P=0.031)and higher than normal in mid(NES=1.671,P=0.002)and late pregnancy(NES=2.350,P<0.001).In women with TPTL,the AUC values for PTB prediction(or PTB within 7 days and 48 hours)using the IL6 signature were 0.761,0.829,and 0.836,respectively;the up-regulation of IL6 signaling activity and its correlation with the gestational week of delivery(r=-0.260,P=0.001)and latency period(r=-0.203,P=0.012)were more significant than in other women.Conclusion::Our findings suggest that the IL6 signature may predict PTB,even in early pregnancy(although the predictive power is relatively weak in mid pregnancy)and is particularly effective in symptomatic women.These findings may contribute to the development of an effective predictive and monitoring system for PTB,thereby reducing maternal and fetal risk.Yuxin Ran Dongni Huang Nanlin Yin Yanqing Wen Yan Jiang Yamin Liu Hongbo Qi 2023Maternal-Fetal Medicine2023,5,4:0
