| 1 | Towards a better hydraulic cleaning strategy for ultrafiltration membrane fouling by humic acid: Effect of backwash water composition显示文摘As a routine measurement to alleviate membrane fouling, hydraulic cleaning is of great significance for the steady operation of ultrafiltration(UF) systems in water treatment processes. In this work, a comparative study was performed to investigate the effects of the composition of backwash water on the hydraulic cleaning performance of UF membranes fouled by humic acid(HA). Various types of backwash water, including UF permeate, Milli-Q water, Na Cl solution, CaCl_2 solution and HA solution, were compared in terms of hydraulically irreversible fouling index, total surface tension and residual HA. The results indicated that Milli-Q water backwash was superior to UF permeate backwash in cleaning HA-fouled membranes, and the backwash water containing Na+or HA outperformed Milli-Q water in alleviating HA fouling. On the contrary, the presence of Ca^(2+) in backwash water significantly decreased the backwash efficiency. Moreover, Ca^(2+) played an important role in foulant removal, and the residual HA content closely related to the residual Ca^(2+) content.Mechanism analysis suggested that the backwash process may involve fouling layer swelling, ion exchange, electric double layer release and competitive complexation. | 2 | Optical vortex copier and regenerator in the Fourier domain显示文摘The generation and manipulation of optical vortices are of fundamental importance in a variety of promising applications. Here, we develop a nonlinear optical paradigm to implement self-and cross-convolution of optical vortex arrays, demonstrating the features of a vortex copier and regenerator. We use a phase-only spatial light modulator to prepare the 1064 nm invisible fundamental light to carry special optical vortex arrays and use a potassium titanyl phosphate crystal to perform type Ⅱ second-harmonic generation in the Fourier domain to achieve 532 nm visible structured vortices. Based on pure cross-convolution, we succeed in copying arbitrary-order single vortices as well as their superposition states onto a prearranged array of fundamental Gaussian spots. Also, based on the simultaneous effect of self-and cross-convolutions, we can expand the initial vortex lattices to regenerate more vortices carrying various higher topological charges. | 4 | Application of response surface methodology to the chemical cleaning process of ultrafiltration membrane显示文摘A numerical model was established to predict and optimise the chemical cleaning process of Polyvinylidene Fluoride(PVDF)Ultra filtration(UF)membranes with the results from the experiment that applied the Response Surface Method(RSM)and Central Composite Design(CCD).The factors considered in the experimental design were sodium hydroxide(NaOH)concentration,sodium hypochlorite concentration(NaClO),citric acid concentration and cleaning duration.The interactions between the factors were investigated with the numerical model.Humic acid(20 mg·L-1)was used as the model foulant,and chemical enhanced back flush(CEB)was employed to simulate the chemical cleaning process.The concentrations of sodium hydroxide,sodium hypochlorite,citric acid and cleaning duration tested during the experiments were in the range of 0.1%–0.3%,100–300 mg·L-1,1%–3%and 0.5–1.5 h,respectively.Among the variables,the sodium hypochlorite concentration and the cleaning duration showed a positive relationship involving the increased ef ficiency of the chemical cleaning.The chemical cleaning ef ficiency was hardly improved with increasing concentrations of sodium hydroxide.However,the data was sharply decreased when at a low level of sodium hydroxide concentration.In total,54 sets of cleaning schemes with 80%to 100%cleaning ef ficiency were observed with the RSM model after calibration. | Caihong Wang Aishu Wei Hao Wu Fangshu Qu Weixiong Chen Heng Liang Guibai Li | 2016 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2016,24,5: | 4 |

Meanwhile, some regularity results are also obtained. The main results in this paper imply that the number ps is the critical value of the Dirichlet problems of the related equation, even though there are still some open problems left. | 13 | Multi-Scheme Corrected Dynamic–Analogue Prediction of Summer Precipitation in Northeastern China Based on BCC_CSM显示文摘Based on summer precipitation hindcasts for 1991–2013 produced by the Beijing Climate Center Climate System Model(BCC_CSM), the relationship between precipitation prediction error in northeastern China(NEC) and global sea surface temperature is analyzed, and dynamic–analogue prediction is carried out to improve the summer precipitation prediction skill of BCC_CSM, through taking care of model historical analogue prediction error in the real-time output. Seven correction schemes such as the systematic bias correction, pure statistical correction, dynamic–analogue correction, and so on, are designed and compared. Independent hindcast results show that the 5-yr average anomaly correlation coefficient(ACC) of summer precipitation is respectively improved from –0.13/0.15 to 0.16/0.24 for 2009–13/1991–95 when using the equally weighted dynamic–analogue correction in the BCC_CSM prediction,which takes the arithmetical mean of the correction based on regional average error and that on grid point error. | 17 | Tailored boron phosphate monolithic foam with multimodal hierarchically porous structure and its applications显示文摘The synthesis of multimodal hierarchically porous materials is of great challenge by facile approach.Herein,we assemble BPO_(4) hollow spheres into macroscopic foam materials with multimodal hierarchically porous structure by combining down-to-up process and Ostwald ripening effect.Tailored monolithic B_(2)O_(3)@BPO_(4) foams were obtained from a sticky hydrogel precursor by a one-step annealing process.The foam has the self-supporting frame of BPO_(4) hollow spheres with covering B_(2)O_(3) nanowires and shows excellent permeability and relatively high surface area due to hierarchical structure.The formation mechanism of monolithic B_(2)O_(3)@BPO_(4) foams mainly undergoes inflation,particle aggregation,and Ostwald ripening process.Monolithic foams exhibit superior catalytic activity in oxidation dehydrogenation of alkanes due to the sufficient exposure of active sites over the special frame structure.Furthermore,various monolithic functionalized BPO_(4) foam composites can be easily synthesized and exhibit superior performance in different applications including the oxidation of carbon monoxide,and the self-driven removal of organic pollutants.More interestingly,we also found the sticky hydrogel precursor possesses good heat shielding effect.This work provides a new insight for constructing multimodal hierarchically porous materials with the remaining superior property of nanoscale to cope with various challenges. | Qiuwen Liu Qiang Liu Yawei Wu Renyou Zeng Fangshu Xing ChuChu Cheng Huibin Qiu Caijin Huang | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,7: | 0 |
| 18 | Mechanism of internal thermal runaway propagation in blade batteries显示文摘Blade batteries are extensively used in electric vehicles,but unavoidable thermal runaway is an inherent threat to their safe use.This study experimentally investigated the mechanism underlying thermal runaway propagation within a blade battery by using a nail to trigger thermal runaway and thermocouples to track its propagation inside a cell.The results showed that the internal thermal runaway could propagate for up to 272 s,which is comparable to that of a traditional battery module.The velocity of the thermal runaway propagation fluctuated between 1 and 8 mm s^(-1),depending on both the electrolyte content and high-temperature gas diffusion.In the early stages of thermal runaway,the electrolyte participated in the reaction,which intensified the thermal runaway and accelerated its propagation.As the battery temperature increased,the electrolyte evaporated,which attenuated the acceleration effect.Gas diffusion affected thermal runaway propagation through both heat transfer and mass transfer.The experimental results indicated that gas diffusion accelerated the velocity of thermal runaway propagation by 36.84%.We used a 1D mathematical model and confirmed that convective heat transfer induced by gas diffusion increased the velocity of thermal runaway propagation by 5.46%-17.06%.Finally,the temperature rate curve was analyzed,and a three-stage mechanism for internal thermal runaway propagation was proposed.In Stage I,convective heat transfer from electrolyte evaporation locally increased the temperature to 100℃.In Stage II,solid heat transfer locally increases the temperature to trigger thermal runaway.In StageⅢ,thermal runaway sharply increases the local temperature.The proposed mechanism sheds light on the internal thermal runaway propagation of blade batteries and offers valuable insights into safety considerations for future design. | Xuning Feng Fangshu Zhang Wensheng Huang Yong Peng Chengshan Xu Minggao Ouyang | 2024 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2024,89,2: | 0 |
