1Nano-selenium controlled cadmium accumulation and improved photosynthesis in indica rice cultivated in lead and cadmium combined paddy soils显示文摘Selenium nanoparticles(Se NPs) are less toxic and more biocompatible than selenite or selenate. However, studies involving spraying with Se NPs for reducing accumulation of cadmium(Cd) and lead(Pb) in rice grains have been rarely reported as yet. Herein, indica rice seedlings cultivated in Cd + Pb-spiked paddy soils(denoted as positive control) were sprayed with Se NPs sols for four times from tillering to booting stage. Compared to positive control, 50–100 μmol/L Se NPs downregulated Cd transporters-related genes such as Os LCT 1, OsH MA 2 and Os CCX2 in leaves and OsLCT1, Os PCR1 and Os CCX2 genes in node I at filling stage. Meanwhile, Se-binding protein 1 was distinctly elevated, involving the repression of Cd and Pb transportation to rice grains. Se NPs also differentially improved RuBP carboxylase and chlorophylls especially some key genes and proteins involving photosynthetic system. Besides, 25–50 μmol/L Se NPs diminished reactive oxygen species overproduction from NADPH oxidases whereas boosted glutathione peroxidase, reducing protein carbonylation in rice seedlings. However, the antioxidant isozymes and oxidatively modified proteins were slightly rebounded at 100 μmol/L. Se contents were noticeably elevated and confirmed to exist as selenomethionine in the rice grains following all the treatments by Se NPs. Thus, the optimal dosage of Se NPs for foliar application is 50 μmol/L, which significantly decreased Cd accumulation, improved photosynthesis and Se enrichment whereas caused no distinct reduction of Pb in the grains. 7Systemic hypoxia potentiates anti-tumor effects of metformin in hepatocellular carcinoma in mice显示文摘Local hypoxia is a universal phenomenon in most solid tumors.The role of local hypoxia in the tumor microenvironment and cancer growth and metastasis has been well established.However,the effect of acute systemic hypoxia(exposing the whole body to 10%O2 environment)on cancer has not yet been investigated.In this study,we investigated the potential effects of acute systemic hypoxia itself and in combination with metformin on hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)growth and metastasis in a mouse model of HCC.Acute systemic hypoxia significantly decreased tumor volume and weight in H22 tumor-bearing mice.Interestingly,the combined treatment of acute systemic hypoxia and metformin showed a more pronounced effect in reducing tumor volume and weight.Moreover,acute systemic hypoxia and metformin in combination had a potent inhibitory effect on tumor progression.More importantly,the expressions of hypoxia response genes including hypoxia-inducible factor-1α,vascular endothelial growth factor,and matrix metalloproteinase 2 were significantly decreased in the tumor tissues with combination treatment.Our study demonstrated that acute systemic hypoxia repressed tum or progression of the HCC and potentiated the anti-tumor activities of metformin.This study supports that combination of systemic hypoxia and metformin treatment may represent a novel strategy for HCC.Hui Lin Wenfang Zhou Yonghong Huang Min Ren Fangyun Xu Hongmei Wang 2020Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,4:0

9Dynamic compression behavior of TiZrNbV refractory high-entropy alloys upon ultrahigh strain rate loading显示文摘In this study,the dynamic compressive response behavior of a body-centered cubic(BCC)single-phase TiZrNbV refractory high-entropy alloy(RHEA)was investigated under impact at speeds of 313-1584 m s^(-1)using two-stage,gas-gun-driven,high-speed plate-impact experiments;recovery sample analysis;and theoretical calculations.The strain rate and pressure were approximately 10^(7) s^(−1) and 5.07-29.37 GPa,respectively.The results showed that the TiZrNbV RHEA had a Hugoniot elastic limit of 4.12-5.86 GPa and a spall strength of 1.84-2.03 GPa.The initial yield strength of the alloy showed a strong strain-rate dependence and could be described by the modified Zerilli-Armstrong model,while the phonon-damping effect was the main reason for its high strain-rate sensitivity.Microstructural analysis showed that the dynamic deformation of the TiZrNbV RHEA was controlled by the dislocation slip,dislocation proliferation,intersection of the deformation bands,and grain refinement.The analysis also showed that the intergranular,transgranular,and mixed-type cracks dominated the spall failure of the material.The dynamic Hall-Petch effect and pinning from the lattice distortion led to high dynamic yield strength.The critical strain rate for the phonon drag effect was positively related to the relative atomic mass and local strain field of the metals.Within the experimental loading range,the RHEA showed good structural stability,and simultaneously,the theoretical calculation method for the equation of state based on a cold-energy mixture could accurately predict its shock-response behavior.The valence-electron concentration(VEC)had a direct effect on the shock-compression properties of the HEAs;higher VEC implied more difficulty in compressing the HEAs.The findings of this study provide insights into understanding the mechanical response characteristics of RHEAs under extreme conditions such as high-speed impact and ultrahigh strain-rate loading.Kerong Ren Hongyang Liu Rong Ma Sen Chen Siyuan Zhang Ruixin Wang Rong Chen Yu Tang Shun Li Fangyun Lu 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,30:0

11Comparative effects of rosuvastatin and atorvastatin on the risk of new-onset diabetes mellitus in patients with acute coronary syndrome receiving percutaneous coronary intervention:a retrospective cohort study显示文摘Background:Statins are frequently prescribed to reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality by lowering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels.However,the use of statins leads to an increased incidence of new-onset type 2 diabetes mellitus(NODM).Our study aims to compare the effect of rosuvastatin versus atorvastatin on NODM in patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS)who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)within 18 months of follow-up.Methods:A retrospective cohort study was conducted on patients with ACS who underwent PCI and were treated with rosuvastatin or atorvastatin between June 2012 and June 2017.The survival functions between the 2 groups were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method and compared using the log-rank test with NODM as the endpoint.Cox proportional hazards models were used to calculate hazard ratios(HRs)and 95%confidence intervals(CIs)for the risk factors of NODM.Results:In total,220 patients received rosuvastatin and 168 atorvastatin.The cumulative incidence of NODM in the rosuvastatin group was lower but did not reach statistical significance,compared with that in the atorvastatin group(7.27%vs.12.50%,respectively;log-rank P=0.08).Using Cox proportional hazards models,baseline fasting blood glucose level was associated with a statistically significant increase in the risk of NODM(HR:4.56;95%CI:2.83–7.36;P<0.01).Conclusion:Long-term use of moderate rosuvastatin had a similar incidence of NODM compared with atorvastatin in patients with ACS receiving PCI.Cunhui Jia Rui Tian Mengzhi Zong Fangyun Luan Wenjun Wang Chuanbao Li 2022Emergency and Critical Care Medicine2022,2,4:0
12Vulnerability analysis of the Chinese coupled aviation and high-speed railway network显示文摘The integrated aviation and High-Speed Railway(HSR)transportation system plays a vital role for today’s inter-city transportation services.However,an increasing number of unexpected disruptions(such as operation failures,natural disasters,or intentional attacks)pose a considerable threat to the normal operation of the system,especially on ground transfer,leading to the extensive research on its vulnerability.Previous approaches mainly focus on interruptions within a single transportation mode,neglecting the role of ground transfer which serves as a coupled connection between aviation and High-Speed Railway.This paper proposes a network-based framework for evaluating the vulnerability of the Chinese Coupled Aviation and High-Speed Railway(CAHSR)network from the viewpoint of ground transfer interruption.Taking the end-to-end travel time and passenger flow information into consideration as an evaluation measure and analyzing from the perspective of urban agglomerations,an adaptive method is developed to identify the critical cities and further investigate their failure impacts on the geographic distribution of vulnerability.In addition,the proposed model explores variations of vulnerability under different failure time intervals.Based on the empirical study,some major conclusions are highlighted as follows:(A)Only a few cities show significant impacts on the network’s vulnerability when ground transfer interruptions occurred.(B)The distribution of vulnerability is not proportional to the distance between failure city and influenced city.(C)The vulnerability is more serious in the morning and evening when the ground transfer is disconnected.Our findings may provide new insights for maintenance and optimization of the CAHSR network and other real-world transportation networks.Yiqiao WANG Xianbin CAO Fangyun QIN Lu(Carol)TONG 2022Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2022,35,12:0
