1Phosphorus limitation on photosynthesis of two dominant understory species in a lowland tropical forest显示文摘Aims Elevated nitrogen(N)deposition in tropical regions may accelerate ecosystem phosphorus(P)limitation.However,it is not explicitly addressed that how changes in soil N and P availability affect foliar nutrients and photosynthesis of plants in tropical forests.In this study,we examined the effects of N and P additions on foliar nutrients and net photosynthesis of two dominant understory species,Randia can-thioides(R.canthioides)and Cryptocarya concinna(C.concinna)in an N-saturated old-growth tropical forest(>400-year-old)in south-ern China.Methods A full factorial NP addition experiment(2×2)was established in 2007 and continued through August 2010.Four treatments,including control,N addition(150 kg N ha^(−1) year^(−1)),P addi-tion(150 kg P ha^(−1) year^(−1))and NP addition(150 kg N ha^(−1) year^(−1) plus 150 kg P ha^(−1) year^(−1))were set up in this experiment.Photosynthetic traits maximum photosynthetic CO_(2) assimilation(Amax),stomatal conductance(gs),leaf transpiration(E),light satu-rating point,concentrations of chlorophyll a/b and foliar nutri-ents(N and P)of the two species were measured with standard methods.Important Findings Three years of N addition had no significant effects on any measured photosynthetic parameter of either species.However,N addition significantly elevated foliar N and P concentrations of one species(R.canthioides),resulting in lower photosynthetic nitrogen use effi-ciency(PNUE).N treatments decreased foliar P concentration of the other(C.concinna),resulting in increased photosynthetic phos-phorus use efficiency,which was potentially related to N-induced P shortage.In contrast,positive effects of P treatments on gs of R.can-thioides,Amax and chlorophyll a+b of C.concinna were observed.P treatments also elevated foliar P and PNUE of both species,imply-ing P induced more efficient use of N.Our results suggested a more important role of P than N on influencing photosynthetic traits of these two understory species.Alleviation of P shortage through P addition may enhance photosynthetic performances of some under-story species in N-rich tropical forests.Feifei Zhu Xiankai Lu Jiangming Mo 2014Journal of Plant Ecology2014,7,6:10
2Formaldehyde concentration and its influencing factors in residential homes after decoration at Hangzhou,China显示文摘Air pollution surveys of formaldehyde(HCHO) were conducted in 2324 rooms decorated within one year in 2007-2009 in Hangzhou,China.The mean HCHO concentration(C HCHO) was 0.107 ± 0.095 mg/m 3,and 38.9% of samples exceeded the Chinese National Standard GB 50325-2010.Over the past 3 years,the C HCHO decreased with time(p < 0.05).Relationships of potential factors to indoor C HCHO were also evaluated.C HCHO was related to temperature(T),relative humidity(RH),time duration of the windows and doors being closed before sampling(DC),time duration from the end of decoration to sampling(DR) and source characteristics(d).A model to relate indoor C HCHO to these five factors(T,RH,DC,DR,d) was established based on 298 samples(R 2 = 0.87).Various factors contributed to C HCHO in the following order:T,43.7%;d,31.0%;DC,10.2%;DR,8.0%;RH,7.0%;specifically,meteorological conditions(i.e.,RH plus T) accounted for 50.7%.The coefficient of T and RH,R TH,was proposed to describe their combined influence on HCHO emission,which also had a linear relationship(R 2 = 0.9387) with HCHO release in a simulation chamber test.In addition,experiments confirm that it is a synergistic action as T and RH accelerate the release of HCHO,and that is a significant factor influencing indoor HCHO pollution.These achievements could lead to reference values of measures for the efficient reduction of indoor HCHO pollution.Min Guo Xiaoqiang Pei Feifei Mo Jianlei Liu Xueyou Shen 2013Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,5:7
3Pollution levels and characteristics of phthalate esters in indoor air in hospitals显示文摘The concentrations of phthalate esters(PAEs) in Chinese hospitals were investigated by simultaneously determining concentrations of gas- and particle-phase PAEs. PAEs were detected in two third-class first-grade hospitals, two second-class first-grade hospitals, and a community health service center. Hospital drugstores had the highest concentration(24.19 μg/m3), which was 1.54 times that of newly decorated houses. The second highest concentration was found in the transfusion rooms, averaging 21.89 μg/m3; this was followed by the concentrations of PAEs in the nurse's workstations, the wards, and the doctor's offices, with mean concentrations of 20.66, 20.0, and 16.92 μg/m3, respectively. The lowest concentrations were found in the hallways(16.30 μg/m3). Of the six different kinds of PAEs found, major pollutants included diethyl phthalates, dibutyl phthalates, butylbenzyl phthalates and di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalates, comprising more than 80% of all PAEs present.Meanwhile, a comparison between different wards showed that PAE concentrations in the maternity wards were 1.63 times higher than in the main wards. Based on known health hazards, our results suggest that the PAEs seriously influence the health of the pregnant women and babies; therefore, it is of great importance to take the phthalate concentrations in hospitals into consideration. 4Oxidized mitochondrial DNA sensing by STING signaling promotes the antitumor effect of an irradiated immunogenic cancer cell vaccine显示文摘Exposure to ionizing radiation,a physical treatment that inactivates live tumor cells,has been extensively applied to enhance the antitumor responses induced by cancer cell vaccines in both animal research and human clinical trials.However,the mechanisms by which irradiated cells function as immunogenic tumor vaccines and induce effective antitumor responses have not been fully explored.Here,we demonstrate that oxidized mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)and stimulator of interferon genes(STING)signaling play a key roles in the enhanced antitumor effect achieved with an irradiated tumor cell vaccine.Elevations in ROS and oxidized mtDNA 8-OHG content could be induced in irradiated tumor cells.Oxidized mtDNA derived from irradiated tumor cells gained access to the cytosol of dendritic cells(DCs).Oxidized mtDNA,as a DAMP or adjuvant,activated the STING-TBK1-IRF3-IFN-β pathway in DCs,which subsequently cross-presented irradiated tumor cell-derived antigens to CD8^(+)T cells and elicited antitumor immunity.The results of our study provide insight into the mechanism by which an irradiated cell vaccine mediates antitumor immunity,which may have implications for new strategies to improve the efficacy of irradiated vaccines.Chunju Fang Fei Mo Li Liu Jing Du Min Luo Ke Men Feifei Na Wei Wang Hanshuo Yang Xiawei Wei 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,9:2

6Influence of the degree of donor bone marrow hyperplasia on patient clinical outcomes after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation显示文摘This study evaluated the influence of the degree of donor bone marrow(BM)hyperplasia on patient clinical outcomes after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation(allo-HSCT).Twelve patients received allo-HSCT from hypoplastic BM donors between January 2010 and December 2017.Forty-eight patients whose donors demonstrated BM hyperplasia were selected using a propensity score matching method(1:4).Primary graft failure including poor graft function and graft rejection did not occur in two groups.In BM hypoplasia and hyperplasia groups,the cumulative incidence(CI)of neutrophil engraftment at day 28(91.7%vs.93.8%,P=0.75),platelet engraftment at day 150(83.3%vs.93.8%,P=0.48),the median time to myeloid engraftment(14 days vs.14 days,P=0.85)and platelet engraftment(14 days vs.14 days,P=0.85)were comparable.The 3-year progression-free survival,overall survival,CI of non-relapse mortality and relapse were 67.8%vs.71.7%(P=0.98),69.8%vs.77.8%(P=0.69),18.5%vs.13.6%(P=0.66),and 10.2%vs.10.4%(P=0.82),respectively.In multivariate analysis,donor BM hypoplasia did not affect patient clinical outcomes after allo-HSCT.If patients have no other suitable donor,a donor with BM hypoplasia can be used for patients receiving allo-HSCT if the donor Complete Blood Count and other examinations are normal.Feifei Tang Xiaodong Mo Xiaohui Zhang Yu Wang Chenhua Yan Yuhong Chen Huan Chen Wei Han Yao Chen Fengrong Wang Jingzhi Wang Yuqian Sun Yuanyuan Zhang Kaiyan Liu Xiaojun Huang Lanping Xu 2020Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,1:0
7cGAS regulates the DNA damage response to maintain proliferative signaling in gastric cancer cells显示文摘The activation of some oncogenes promote cancer cell proliferation and growth,facilitate cancer progression and metastasis by induce DNA replication stress,even genome instability.Activation of the cyclic GMP-AMP synthase(cGAS)mediates classical DNA sensing,is involved in genome instability,and is linked to various tumor development or therapy.However,the function of cGAS in gastric cancer remains elusive.In this study,the TCGA database and retrospective immunohistochemical analyses revealed substantially high cGAS expression in gastric cancer tissues and cell lines.By employing cGAS high-expression gastric cancer cell lines,including AGS and MKN45,ectopic silencing of cGAS caused a significant reduction in the proliferation of the cells,tumor growth,and mass in xenograft mice.Mechanistically,database analysis predicted a possible involvement of cGAS in the DNA damage response(DDR),further data through cells revealed protein interactions of the cGAS and MRE11-RAD50-NBN(MRN)complex,which activated cell cycle checkpoints,even increased genome instability in gastric cancer cells,thereby contributing to gastric cancer progression and sensitivity to treatment with DNA damaging agents.Furthermore,the upregulation of cGAS significantly exacerbated the prognosis of gastric cancer patients while improving radiotherapeutic outcomes.Therefore,we concluded that cGAS is involved in gastric cancer progression by fueling genome instability,implying that intervening in the cGAS pathway could be a practicable therapeutic approach for gastric cancer.BIN LIU HAIPENG LIU FEIFEI REN HANGFAN LIU IHTISHAM BUKHARI YUMING FU WANQINGWU MINGHAI ZHAO SHAOGONG ZHU HUI MO FAZHAN LI MICHAEL B.ZHENG YOUCAI TANG PENGYUAN ZHENG YANG MI 2021Oncology Research2021,29,2:0
