4Terahertz metalens of hyper-dispersion显示文摘Chromatic optical lenses have promising applications in three-dimensional imaging, which allows fast spectral tomography without mechanical moving parts. The scanning range of current chromatic optical lenses is limited by their dispersion ability. The recent development in metasurfaces provides ideal blocks for optical wavefront manipulation and dispersion engineering of artificial materials at sub-wavelength scales. Hyper-dispersive metalenses can be realized by utilizing dispersive meta-atoms, which have enhanced dispersion compared to regular diffractive lenses. This is critical for increasing the imaging depth of fast spectral tomography. In this work, a hyper-dispersive metalens is realized with a chromatic dispersion 1.76 times greater than that of a regular diffractive metalens in the THz frequency range of 2.40–2.61 THz by simultaneously controlling the frequencydependent phase, group delay(GD), and GD dispersion of the metalens. 5Gamma-knife for treating pituitary adenomas in 501 cases: Retrospective case analysis显示文摘BACKGROUND: Gamma-knife is characterized by low risk and low death rate, without trauma, bleeding or infection. MRI has replaced CT as a method of location, and provides a good choice for treating pituitary tumors. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the effectiveness and complications of 501 cases with pituitary adenoma by using gamma-knife retrospectively. DESIGN: Case-analysis. SETTING: Gamma-knife Center, the 363 Hospital of Chinese PLA. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 501 cases were selected from Gamma-knife Center, the 363 Hospital of Chinese PLA from January 1997 to December 2002. All patients were certainly diagnosed with CT and MRI scanning. There were 186 males and 315 females. Their ages ranged from 15 to 84 years with the mean age of 39 years. All patients provided confirmed consent. METHODS: All 501 cases with pituitary adenomas were treated by gamma-knife or combined with operations. The average iso-dose curve was 50% (30%–65%), peri-dose was 14 Gy and the average target number was 5.17. ① At 35 months after treatment, patients received follow-up including clinical symptoms, imaging symptoms and endocrine symptoms. ② Patients who received second gamma-knife treatment were analyzed and their complications were observed after operation. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① Follow-up results of clinical symptoms, image and endocrine indexes; ② second gamma-knife treatment; ③ postoperative complications. RESULTS: Among 501 accepted patients, 275 cases were involved in the follow up of clinical symptoms, 154 in image symptoms and 98 in endocrine symptoms. ① Follow-up results of clinical symptoms, image and endocrine indexes: Follow up of clinical symptoms demonstrated that clinical symptoms of 169 cases were relieved, of 68 disappeared, and of 38 deteriorated. Follow-up of image symptoms indicated that pituitary tumor of 25 cases disappeared, of 84 shortened, of 42 not changed, and of 3 enlarged. Follow-up of endocrine symptoms suggested that endocrine of 50 cases was abnormal, of 29 recovery to normal value, and of 19 not changed obviously. ② Second gamma-knife treatment: At 6–24 months after gamma-knife treatment, 15 patients with pituitary tumor received second gamma-knife treatment; especially, one patient received for the three times. The conditions in details were recorded as follows: The peri-dose for the first treatment ranged from 8 to 12 Gy; in addition, that for the second one ranged from 6 to 12 Gy. ③ Postoperative complications: The complications were as follow: hypopituitarism occurred in 2 patients (0.7%); tumor apoplexy in 2 patients (0.7%); weakened eyesight in 5 patients (1.8%); 3 of which recovered with dehydration and hormone treatment; 2 patients received tumor resection and optical nerve decompression operation with dehydration and hormone treatment ineffectively. 7Neutrophil membrane-camouflaged nanoparticles alleviate inflammation and promote angiogenesis in ischemic myocardial injury显示文摘Acute myocardial infarction(AMI)induces a sterile inflammatory response,leading to cardiomyocyte damage and adverse cardiac remodeling.Interleukin-5(IL-5)plays an essential role in developing eosinophils(EOS),which are beneficial for the resolution of inflammation.Furthermore,the proangiogenic properties of IL-5 also contribute to tissue healing following injury.Therefore,targeted delivery of IL-5 is an innovative therapeutic approach for treating AMI.It has been shown that conventional IL-5 delivery can result in undesirable adverse effects and potential drug overdose.In this study,we successfully synthesized a biomimetic IL-5 nanoparticle by camouflaging the IL-5 nanoparticle in a neutrophilic membrane.The administration of neutrophil membrane-camouflaged nanoparticles(NM-NPIL-5)in the in vivo model showed that these nanoparticles promoted EOS accumulation and angiogenesis in the infarcted myocardium,thereby limiting adverse cardiac remodeling after AMI.Our results also demonstrated that the NM-NPIL-5 could serve as neutrophil“decoys”to adsorb and neutralize the elevated neutrophil-related cytokines in the injured heart by inheriting multiple receptors from their“parent”neutrophils.Finally,the targeted delivery of NM-NPIL-5 protected the cardiomyocytes from excessive inflammatory-induced apoptosis and maintained cardiac function.Our findings provided a promising cardiac detoxification agent for acute cardiac injury.Dongjian Han Fuhang Wang Zhentao Qiao Bo Wang Yi Zhang Qingjiao Jiang Miaomiao Liu Yuansong Zhuang Quanxu An Yan Bai Jiahong Shangguan Jinying Zhang Gaofeng Liang Deliang Shen 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,5:0
8Flat-field superoscillation metalens显示文摘Superoscillation metalenses have demonstrated promising prospects in breaking the theoretical diffraction limitations on the resolution of optical devices and systems. However, most reported superoscillation metalenses have a very small field of view of several tenths of a degree, which greatly limits their applications in imaging and microscopy. Therefore, it is of critical importance to achieve absolute high resolution by increasing the numerical apertures(NAs) of optical devices and systems. Unfortunately, similar to the case in traditional optics, it is challenging to realize a large field of view at high NA, especially in the superoscillation regime. To date, no attempt has been made to achieve flat-field focusing in the superoscillation regime, to our knowledge. Here, we demonstrate a high-NA superoscillation metalens with an entrance aperture stop, which is optimized for superoscillation performance with a comparatively large field of view. The proposed flat-field superoscillation metalens has an effective NA as large as 0.89 and achieves superoscillation focusing within a field of view of 9°. 9Study on fracture characteristics in coal and shale for coal-measure gas reservoir based on 3D CT reconstruction and fractal features显示文摘Pores and fractures are important components of flow channels in coal-measure gas reservoirs.While considerable studies have been conducted on pore structure evolution,very few studies have investigated the fracture distribution and self-similarity characteristics.To reveal the characteristics of fracture distribution in coal and shale reservoirs,computed tomography studies were performed on 15 coal and shale samples from the Shanxi and Taiyuan formations.The results show that the fracture distribution of samples of the same lithology differs significantly,and the fracture distribution heterogeneity of shale samples is much higher than that of coal samples.In shale,the heterogeneity of fracture distribution is mainly caused by pores and fractures smaller than 2μm in the z-direction,with relatively little contributions from pores and fractures in the x and y directions.However,the heterogeneity of fracture distribution in coal is mainly controlled by pores and fractures larger than 2μm in all directions,and the difference between the three directions is minor.It was shown that a great number of microscopic pores and fractures contribute to the highest fractions of porosity in different lithological samples.This method is useful for determining the fracture distribution characteristics in shale and coal-measure gas reservoir.Huijun WANG Shangbin CHEN Shaojie ZHANG Chengxing ZHANG Yang WANG Gaofeng YI Yixuan PENG 2023Frontiers of Earth Science2023,17,2:0
10Abnormal phase separation of biomacromolecules in human diseases显示文摘Membrane-less organelles(MLOs)formed through liquid-liquid phase separation(LLPS)are associated with numerous important biological functions,but the abnormal phase separation will also dysregulate the physiological processes.Emerging evidence points to the importance of LLPS in human health and diseases.Nevertheless,despite recent advancements,our knowledge of the molecular relationship between LLPS and diseases is frequently incomplete.In this review,we outline our current understanding about how aberrant LLPS affects developmental disorders,tandem repeat disorders,cancers and viral infection.We also examine disease mechanisms driven by aberrant condensates,and highlight potential treatment approaches.This study seeks to expand our understanding of LLPS by providing a valuable new paradigm for understanding phase separation and human disorders,as well as to further translate our current knowledge regarding LLPS into therapeutic discoveries.Songhao Zhang Gaofeng Pei Boya Li Pilong Li Yi Lin 2023Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2023,55,7:0
