Endothelial dysfunction as a predictor of cardiovascular disease in type 1 diabetes显示文摘Macro and microvascular disease are the main cause of morbi-mortality in type 1 diabetes(T1DM).Although there is a clear association between endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis in type 2 diabetes,a cause-effect relationship is less clear in T1 DM.Although endothelial dysfunction(ED) precedes atherosclerosis,it is not clear weather,in recent onset T1 DM,it may progress to clinical macrovascular disease. Moreover, endothelial dysfunction may either be reversed spontaneously or in response to intensive glycemic control,long-term exercise training and use of statins.Acute,long-term and post-prandial hyperglycemia as well as duration of diabetes and microalbuminuria are all conditions associated with ED in T1 DM.The pathogenesis of endothelial dysfunction is closely related to oxidative-stress.NAD(P)H oxidase over activity induces excessive superoxide production inside the mitochondrial oxidative chain of endothelial cells, thus reducing nitric oxide bioavailability and resulting in peroxynitrite formation,a potent oxidant agent. Moreover, oxidative stress also uncouples endothelial nitric oxide synthase, which becomes dysfunctional, inducing formation of superoxide.Other important mechanisms are the activation of both the polyol and protein kinase C pathways as well as the presence of advanced glycation end-products.Future studies are needed to evaluate the potential clinical applicability of endothelial dysfunction as a marker for early vascular complications in T1 DM.Marcello C Bertoluci Gislaine V Cé Antonio MV da Silva Marco V Wainstein Winston Boff Marcia Punales 2015World Journal of Diabetes2015,6,5:5

Effect of resistance training volume on body adiposity, metabolic risk, and inflammation in postmenopausal and older females:Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials显示文摘Purpose:This meta-analytical study aimed to explore the effects of resistance training(RT) volume on body adiposity, metabolic risk, and inflammation in postmenopausal and older females. Methods:A systematic search was performed for randomized controlled trials in PubMed,Scopus,Web of Science, and SciELO.Randomized controlled trials with postmenopausal and older females that compared RT effects on body adiposity, metabolic risk, and inflammation with a control group(CG) were included.Independent reviewers selected the studies, extracted the data, and performed the risk of bias and certainty of the evidence(Grading of Recommendations,Assessment,Development, and Evaluation(GRADE)) evaluations.Total body and abdominal adiposity, blood lipids, glucose, and C-reactive protein were included for meta-analysis.A random-effects model, standardized mean difference(Hedges’ g),and 95% confidence interval(95%CI) were used for meta-analysis.Results:Twenty randomized controlled trials(overall risk of bias:some concerns;GRADE:low to very low) with overweight/obese postmenopausal and older females were included.RT groups were divided into low-volume RT(LVRT,~44 sets/week) and high-volume RT(HVRT,~77 sets/week).Both RT groups presented improved body adiposity, metabolic risk, and inflammation when compared to CG.However,HVRT demonstrated higher effect sizes than LVRT for glucose(HVRT=-1.19;95%CI:-1.63 to-0.74;LVRT=-0.78;95%CI:-1.15 to-0.41) and C-reactive protein(HVRT=-1.00;95%CI:-1.32 to-0.67;LVRT=-0.34;95%CI,-0.63 to-0.04)) when compared to CG.Conclusion:Compared to CG,HVRT protocols elicit greater improvements in metabolic risk and inflammation outcomes than LVRT in overweight/obese postmenopausal and older females.Paulo Ricardo Prado Nunes Pamela Castro-e-Souza Anselmo Alves de Oliveira Bruno de Freitas Camilo Gislaine Cristina-Souza Lucio Marques Vieira-Souza Marcelo Augusto da Silva Carneiro 2024Journal of Sport and Health Science2024,13,2:0
Obesity in people with diabetes in COVID-19 times: Important considerations and precautions to be taken显示文摘At the end of 2019,a new disease with pandemic potential appeared in China. It was a novel coronavirus called coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Later,in the first quarter of 2020,the World Health Organization declared the outbreak of this disease a pandemic.Elderly people, people with comorbidities, and health care professionals are more vulnerable to COVID-19.Obesity has been growing exponentially worldwide, affecting several age groups. It is a morbidity that is associated with genetic, epigenetic, environment factors and/or interaction between them.Obesity is associated with the development of several diseases including diabetes mellitus, mainly type 2.Diabetes affects a significant portion of the global population.Obesity and diabetes are among the main risk factors for the development of severe symptoms of COVID-19,and individuals with these conditions constitute a risk group.Based on a literature review on obesity in people with diabetes in the framework of the COVID-19 pandemic, this study presents updated important considerations and care to be taken with this population.Adriano Alberti Fabiana Schuelter-Trevisol Betine Pinto Moehlecke Iser Eliane Traebert Viviane Freiberger Leticia Ventura Gislaine Tezza Rezin Bruna Becker da Silva Fabiana Meneghetti Dallacosta Leoberto Grigollo Paula Dias Gracielle Fin Josiane Aparecida De Jesus Fabiane Pertille Carina Rossoni Ben Hur Soares Rudy JoséNodari Júnior Clarissa Martinelli Comim 2021World Journal of Clinical Cases2021,9,20:0
Individual tree extraction from terrestrial laser scanning data via graph pathing显示文摘Background:Individual tree extraction from terrestrial laser scanning(TLS)data is a prerequisite for tree-scale estimations of forest biophysical properties. This task currently is undertaken through laborious and time-consuming manual assistance and quality control. This study presents a new fully automatic approach to extract single trees from large-area TLS data. This data-driven method operates exclusively on a point cloud graph by path finding, which makes our method computationally efficient and universally applicable to data from various forest types. Results:We demonstrated the proposed method on two openly available datasets.First,we achieved state-of-the-art performance on locating single trees on a benchmark dataset by significantly improving the mean accuracy by over 10% especially for difficult forest plots.Second,we successfully extracted 270 trees from one hectare temperate forest.Quantitative validation resulted in a mean Intersection over Union(mIoU)of 0.82 for single crown segmentation, which further led to a relative root mean square error(RMSE%)of 21.2% and 23.5% for crown area and tree volume estimations, respectively. Conclusions:Our method allows automated access to individual tree level information from TLS point clouds. The proposed method is free from restricted assumptions of forest types. It is also computationally efficient with an average processing time of several seconds for one million points. It is expected and hoped that our method would contribute to TLS-enabled wide-area forest qualifications, ranging from stand volume and carbon stocks modelling to derivation of tree functional traits as part of the global ecosystem understanding.Di Wang Xinlian Liang Gislain II Mofack Olivier Martin-Ducup 2021Forest Ecosystems2021,8,4:0
Risk Analysis of the Economic Benefits of Ochroma pyramidale:A Case Study of Forest Planting in Brazil显示文摘The forest investment projects, analyzed through the application of simulation techniques, allow measuring more accurately the benefits or losses, considering the systemic uncertainties related to forest plantation. In this perspective, the objective of this study was to identify the relative importance of sources of uncertainties in determining the net present value(NPV)of planting of Ochroma pyramidale on a forested property located in the state of S?o Paulo,Brazil. Thus,it assigns probability distributions to the parameters with uncertainties and applies the Monte Carlo technique to obtain the stochastic behavior of the NPV,of the modified internal rate of return(MIRR)and the profitability index(PI).The probabilistic results of the quantitative methods analyzed allowed us to conclude that for the planting O.pyramidale, with 5-year cutting age, indicated economic profitability. In addition, there is a probability that 84.6%of the project will add economic value to the invested capital.Ricardo Hideaki Miyajima Vitória Castro Santos Barreto Paulo Andréde Oliveira Gislaine Cristina Batistela Danilo Simoes 2018Journal of Agricultural Science and Technology(B)2018,8,7:0
Optimization in the Selection of Sugarcane Varieties in a Sucro Energy Plant Located in the State of Sao Paulo,Brazil显示文摘Sugarcane crops have undergone several changes with the intensification of agricultural machinery in Brazil in the last years. This occurs, mainly, due to the transfer of the semi-mechanized system to the mechanized one during harvest operations. Thus, studies are needed on the optimization of sugarcane production in relation to mechanized processes, since it is necessary to verify the adaptability of sugarcane varieties to the mechanization of the plantation. This study aimed to develop and apply a mathematical model of optimization to select sugarcane varieties that maximize production and meet the quality standards required by the industry for sugar and fiber contents. The data were collected in a sugarcane mill located in the interior of S?o Paulo state. The result obtained by the optimization process evinced an increase of 16.65%when compared to the productivity of the initial scenario.Ricardo Ghantous Cervi Helenice de Oliveira Florentino Silva Ernée Kozyreff Filho Gislaine Cristina Batistela Danilo Simoes 2020Journal of Agricultural Science and Technology(B)2020,10,1:0
