2Differential study of DCE-MRI parameters in spinal metastatic tumors, brucellar spondylitis and spinal tuberculosis显示文摘Objective: In the present study, spinal metastatic tumors, brucellar spondylitis and spinal tuberculosis were quantitatively analyzed using dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging(DCE-MRI) to assess the value of DCE-MRI in the differential diagnosis of these diseases.Methods: Patients with brucellar spondylitis, spinal tuberculosis or a spinal metastatic tumor(30 cases of each)received conventional MRI and DCE-MRI examination. The volume transfer constant(K^(trans)), rate constant(K_(ep)),extravascular extracellular volume fraction(V_e) and plasma volume fraction(V_p) of the diseased vertebral bodies were measured on the perfusion parameter map, and the differences in these parameters between the patients were compared.Results: For pathological vertebrae in cases of spinal metastatic tumor, brucellar spondylitis and spinal tuberculosis, respectively, the K^(trans) values(median ± quartile pitch) were 0.989±0.014, 0.720±0.011 and0.317±0.005 min^(–1); the K_(ep) values were 2.898±0.055, 1.327±0.017 and 0.748±0.006 min^(–1); the V_e values were 0.339±0.008, 0.542±0.013 and 0.428±0.018; the V_p values were 0.048±0.008, 0.035±0.004 and 0.028±0.009; the corresponding H values were 50.25(for K_(trans)), 52.47(for K_(ep)), 48.33(for V_e) and 46.56(for V_p), and all differences were statistically significant(two-sided P<0.05).Conclusions: The quantitative analysis of DCE-MRI has a certain value in the differential diagnosis of spinal metastatic tumor, brucellar spondylitis and spinal tuberculosis.Pengfei Qiao Pengfei Zhao Yang Gao Yuzhen Bai Guangming Niu 2018Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2018,30,4:16

4Superabsorbent Fibers for Comfortable Disposable Medical Protective Clothing显示文摘Disposable medical protective clothing for 2019-nCoV mainly consists of stacked layers with nanopore films,polymer coated nonwoven fabrics and melt-blown nonwoven fabrics against anti-microbial and anti-liquid penetration.However,such structures lack moisture permeability and breathability leading to an uncomfortable,stuffy wearing experience.Here,we propose a novel medical protective clothing material with a superabsorbent layer to enhance moisture absorption.Poly(acrylic acid-co-acrylamide)/polyvinyl alcohol superabsorbent fibers(PAAAM/PVA fibers)were prepared via wet spinning.And the superabsorbent composite layer was stacked from PAAAM/PVA fibers,bamboo pulp fibers(BPF)and ethylene-propyl-ene side by side fibers(ESF).The novel disposable medical protective composite fabric was obtained through gluing the superabsorbent layer to the inner surface of strong antistatic polypropylene nonwoven fabric.The resultant composite fabric possesses excellent absorption and retention capacity for sweat,up to 12.3 g/g and 63.8%,and a maximum hygroscopic rate of 1.04 g/h,higher than that of the conventional material(only 0.53 g/h).The moisture permeability of the novel material reached 12,638.5 g/(m^(2) d),which was 307.6%of the conventional material.The novel material can effectively reduce the humidity inside the protective clothing and significantly improve the comfort of medical staff.Lin Yang Hong Liu Shuai Ding Jiawei Wu Yan Zhang Zhongzhen Wang Lili Wei Mingwei Tian Guangming Tao 2020Advanced Fiber Materials2020,2,3:11
5Potential Benefits of Biochar in Agricultural Soils:A Review显示文摘Soil degradation,characterized by declines in nutrient status and simultaneous accumulation of pesticide residues,is a major problem affecting agricultural ecosystems.Previous studies indicate that biochar application to soil has promise as a practical method to alleviate these pressures:increasing crop yield and enhancing pesticide degradation.Here,we review the roles of biochar in both chemical and biological promotion of pesticide degradation and the potential benefits of biochar relating to the efficiency of fertilizer use,availability of nutrients,and nutrient exchange.Biochar typically has a high surface area featuring many functional groups,a high cation exchange capacity,and high stability.Major factors that impact on the nutrient retention characteristics of biochar(e.g.,feedstock,pyrolysis temperature,and application rate) are also discussed herein.Nonetheless,more studies of the long-term impacts on soil properties from biochar addition are still required before it can be possible to accurately quantify the sustainability of this approach to sequester carbon and restore soil function.DING Yang LIU Yunguo LIU Shaobo HUANG Xixian LI Zhongwu TAN Xiaofei ZENG Guangming ZHOU Lu 2017Pedosphere2017,27,4:10
6Performance of biotrickling filters packed with structured or cubic polyurethane sponges for VOC removal显示文摘Two identical bench-scale biotrickling filters (BTFs),BTF 1 and BTF 2,were evaluated for toluene removal at various gas empty bed contact times (EBCTs) and organic loadings.BTF 1 and BTF 2 were packed with structured and cubic synthetic polyurethane sponges,respectively.At a constant toluene loading of 16 g/(m 3 ·hr),toluene removal efficiencies decreased from 98.8% to 64.3% for BTF 1 and from 98.4% to 74.1% for BTF 2 as gas EBCT decreased from 30 to 5 sec.When the toluene loading increased from 35 to 140 g/(m 3 ·hr) at a gas EBCT of 30 sec,the removal efficiencies decreased from 99.1% to 77.4% for BTF 1 and from 99.0% to 81.5% for BTF 2.The pressure drop for both BTFs increased with increased air flow rate,and did not significantly vary while the toluene loading was increased under similar operation conditions.BTF 1 and BTF 2 could start up successfully within 19 and 27 days,respectively,when packed with fresh sponge media,and the performances could be restored in 3-7 days after biomass was removed and wasted from the media.BTF 2 displayed higher removal efficiency even under shorter EBCT or higher loading rate than BTF1 when other operation conditions were similar,while it showed lower pressure drop than BTF 1 during the whole period of operation.These results demonstrated that both BTFs could treat waste gas containing toluene effectively.Chunping Yang Guanlong Yu Guangming Zeng Haining Yang Fayuan Chen Congying Jin 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,8:10
7Programmed Death Ligand-1 on Microglia Regulates Th1 Differentiation via Nitric Oxide in Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis显示文摘Microglia are considered to be potential antigen-presenting cells and have the ability to present antigen under pathological conditions. Nevertheless, whether and how microglia are involved in immune regulation are largely unknown. Here, we investigated the suppressive activity of microglia during experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis(EAE) induced by myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein, with the goal of understanding their role in regulating the T cell reaction. Using flow cytometric analysis, we found that microglia were characterized by increased cell number and up-regulated programmed death ligand-1(PD-L1) at the peak phase of EAE. Meanwhile,both the CD^(4+)T cells and microglia that infiltrated the central nervous system expressed higher levels of PD1, the receptor for PD-L1, accompanied by a decline of Th1 cells.In an ex vivo co-culture system, microglia from EAE mice inhibited the proliferation of antigen-specific CD^(4+)T cells and the differentiation of Th1 cells, and this was significantly inhibited by PD-L1 blockade. Further,microglia suppressed Th1 cells via nitric oxide(NO), the production of which was dependent on PD-L1. 8Cerium-tannic acid passivation treatment on galvanized steel显示文摘A novel cerium-tannic acid passivation treatment was performed on galvanized steel. The corrosion resistance of cerium-tannic passivated samples was tested by dropping test with 0.5 wt.% CuSO4 aqueous solution. The mass loss per unit area of passivated samples was measured after the corrosion in 0.5 mol/L NaCl + 0.005 mol/L H2SO4 at room temperature for 96 h. The electrochemical behaviors of cerium, tannic acid, and cerium-tannic acid passivated samples on galvanized steel in 0.5 mol/L NaCl solution were investigated by polarization curves and electrochemical impendence spectra. The corrosion equivalent circuit was established according to the impedance characteristics. The results show that cerium-tannic acid treated samples exhibit better corrosion resistance than the sole cerium or tannic acid treated samples under the same condition. 10Wireless whispering-gallery-mode sensor for thermal sensing and aerial mapping显示文摘The Internet of Things(IoT)1,2 employs a large number of spatially distributed wireless sensors to monitor physical environments,e.g.,temperature,humidity,and air pressure,and has many applications,including environmental monitoring3,health care monitoring4,smart cities5,and precision agriculture.A wireless sensor can collect,analyze,and transmit measurements of its environment1,2.Currently,wireless sensors used in the IoT are predominately based on electronic devices that may suffer from electromagnetic interference in many circumstances.Being immune to the electromagnetic interference,optical sensors provide a significant advantage in harsh environments6.Furthermore,by introducing optical resonance to enhance light–matter interactions,optical sensors based on resonators exhibit small footprints,extreme sensitivity,and versatile functionalities7,8,which can significantly enhance the capability and flexibility of wireless sensors.Here we provide the first demonstration of a wireless photonic sensor node based on a whisperinggallery-mode(WGM)optical resonator,in which light propagates along the circular rim of such a structure like a sphere,a disk,or a toroid by continuous total internal reflection.The sensor node is controlled via a customized iOS app.Its performance was studied in two practical scenarios:(1)real-time measurement of the air temperature over 12 h and(2)aerial mapping of the temperature distribution using a sensor node mounted on an unmanned drone.Our work demonstrates the capability of WGM optical sensors in practical applications and may pave the way for the large-scale deployment of WGM sensors in the IoT.Xiangyi Xu Weijian Chen Guangming Zhao Yihang Li Chenyang Lu Lan Yang 2018Light(Science & Applications)2018,7,1:8
11Preparation and biodistribution of ^(99)Tc^m-PIDP as bone imaging agent显示文摘A novel zoledronic acid derivative,1-hydroxy-2-(2-propyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)ethane-1,1-diyldiphosphonic acid (PIDP), was synthesized by three-step reactions from 2-propyl-1H-imidazole. It was labeled with 99Tcm in conditions of 0.1 mg SnCl2.2H2O at pH 6.0 and 99TcmO4? in aqueous solution for 20 min at room temperature. The labeling yield and radiochemical purity of 99Tcm-PIDP are both higher than 95%. The biodistribution results show that the bone uptake is up to 8.47% ID/g which is the maximum of bone uptake at 30 min after injection of 99Tcm-PIDP in mice. The pharmacokinetic parameters can be estimated from the exponential equation of C=59.565e-11.307t+2.069e-1.211t. The clear bone image of rabbit was obtained at 120 min after injection of 99Tcm-PIDP. 12Raman lasing and Fano lineshapes in a packaged fiber-coupled whispering-gallery-mode microresonator显示文摘We report Raman lasing and the optical analog of electromagnetically-induced-transparency(EIT) in a whispering-gallery-mode(WGM) microtoroid resonator embedded in a low refractive index polymer matrix together with a tapered fiber coupler. The microtoroid resonator supports both single mode and multimode Raman lasing with low power thresholds. Observations of Fano and EIT-like phenomena in a packaged microresonator will enable high resolution sensors and can be used in networks where slow-light effect is needed. 13Biosorption of zinc(Ⅱ) from aqueous solution by dried activated sludge显示文摘The biosorption potential of dried activated sludge as a biosorbent for zinc(Ⅱ) removal from aqueous solution was investigated.The effects of initial pH,contact time,initial zinc ion concentration,and adsorbent dosage on the biosorption processes were determined,and the equilibrium data were modeled by the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms.The Langmuir isotherm model (R 2=0.999) was proved to fit the equilibrium data much better than the Freundlich isotherm model (R 2=0.918).The monolayer adsorption capacity of dried activated sludge for zinc(Ⅱ) was found to be 17.86 mg/g at pH of 5 and 25°C.The kinetic data were tested using pseudo firstand second-order models.The results suggested that the pseudo second-order model (R 2 > 0.999) was better for the description of the adsorption behavior of zinc(Ⅱ) onto the dried activated sludge.Fourier transform infrared spectral analysis showed that the dominant mechanism of zinc(Ⅱ) biosorption onto the dried activated sludge was the binding between amide groups and zinc ions.Chunping Yang Jiaqiang Wang Min Lei Gengxin Xie Guangming Zeng Shenglian Luo 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,5:6
14Recent advances and perspectives of fluorite and perovskite-based dual-ion conducting solid oxide fuel cells显示文摘High-temperature solid-state electrolyte is a key component of several important electrochemical devices,such as oxygen sensors for automobile exhaust control,solid oxide fuel cells(SOFCs) for power generation,and solid oxide electrolysis cells for H_(2) production from water electrolysis or CO_(2) electrochemical reduction to value-added chemicals.In particular,internal diffusion of protons or oxygen ions is a fundamental and crucial issue in the research of SOFCs,hypothetically based on either oxygen-ionconducting electrolytes or proton-conducting electrolytes.Up to now,some electrolyte materials based on fluorite or perovskite structure were found to show certain degree of dual-ion transportation capability,while in available electrolyte database,particularly in the field of SOFCs,such dual-ion conductivity was seriously overlooked.Actually,few concerns arising to the simultaneous proton and oxygen-ion conductivities in electrolyte of SOFCs inevitably induce various inadequate and confusing results in literature.Understanding dual-ion transportation behavior in electrolyte is indisputably of great importance to explain some unusual fuel cell performance as reported in literature and enrich the knowledge of solid state ionics.On the other hand,exploration of novel dual-ion conducting electrolytes will benefit the development of SOFCs.In this review,we provide a comprehensive summary of the understanding of dual-ion transportation in solid electrolyte and recent advances of dual-ion conducting SOFCs.The oxygen ion and proton conduction mechanisms at elevated temperature inside oxide-based electrolyte materials are first introduced,and then(mixed) oxygen ion and proton conduction behaviors of fluorite and perovskite-type oxides are discussed.Following on,recent advances in the development of dual-ion conducting SOFCs based on fluorite and perovskite-type single-phase or composite electrolytes,are reviewed.Finally,the challenges in the development of dual-ion conducting SOFCs are discussed and future prospects are proposed.Jiafeng Cao Chao Su Yuexia Ji Guangming Yang Zongping Shao 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,6:5
15Starch grain analysis reveals Late Neolithic plant utilization in the middle reaches of the Ganjiang River显示文摘Plant utilization is poorly known in South China as compared to North China.Fanchengdui, Zhuweicheng, Shinianshan, and Yinjiaping, which date back to 5-4 ka BP, are typical Neolithic sites located at the middle reaches of the Ganjiang River in Jiangxi Province.Due to the lack of systematic plant archaeological work, only rice straw and husk residues have been found in some archaeological sites in Jiangxi Province.Thirteen stone tools excavated from these sites were examined in this study.The results showed that among the plants utilized are Coix spp., Oryza spp., Vigna spp., plants from the tribe Triticeae, roots from some plants of Zingiberaceae, and other species of roots and tubers.More than 457 grains were retrieved from the 13 stone tools.The fact that Coix spp.were found in all stone tools suggests that these species were a major food source during the Neolithic era.In addition, 28 starch grains of Oryza spp.were found in 8 stone tools.The analysis also revealed that not only seeds of Gramineae but also those of Leguminosae, Zingiberaceae and other species of roots and tubers are among the plants utilized in the four Fanchengdui culture sites.These results indicate that ancient plant utilization was rather diverse, and this study elucidates the prehistoric agricultural systems of South China.WAN ZhiWei YANG XiaoYan GE QuanSheng FAN ChangSheng ZHOU GuangMing JIANG MeiXin 2012Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,12:5

17Identification and isolation of Mu-flanking fragments from maize显示文摘Transposable elements have been utilized as mutagens to create mutant libraries for functional genomics. Isolation of genomic seg-ments flanking the insertion Mutator (Mu) is a key step in insertion mutagenesis studies. Herein, we adopted a modified AFLP method to identify and isolate Mu-flanking fragments from maize. The method consists of the following steps: 1) double-digestion of genomic DNA with Bgl II/Msp I and ligation of digested fragments to the Bgl II-and Msp I-adaptors; 2) enrichment of a subset of Bgl II/Msp I fragments followed by selective amplification of the Mu-flanking fragments; 3) simultaneous display of AFLP bands derived from the flanking re-gions for both insert and native Mu transposons; 4) identification and isolation of AFLP bands resulting from Mu insertions by comparing the banding profiles between Mu-induced mutants and their parental lines; and 5) confirmation of flanking fragments related to these Mu insertions. Using this approach, we have isolated flanking fragment(s) resulting from Mu insertion for every Mu-induced mutant, and one such fragment, M196-FF, is found to contain a partial sequence of the DNA topoisomerase I gene Top1. Moreover, the modified AFLP method including all restriction enzymes, adaptors and primers has been optimized in this study. 19An animal model of cerebral palsy induced by prenatal exposure to lipopolysaccharide and hypoxia显示文摘BACKGROUND:Neonatal cerebral palsy is mainly caused by prenatal factors.At present, an animal model of prenatal infection and early postnatal hypoxia does not exist.OBJECTIVE:To observe morphology and motor performance following prenatal infection and hypoxic insult-induced brain damage of neonatal rats to verify the feasibility to establish a model of cerebral palsy.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING:A randomized, controlled, animal experiment was performed at the Laboratories of Xinjiang Center for Disease Control and Prevention from September 2007 to June 2008.MATERIALS:The hypoxic incubator was purchased from Shanghai Pediatric Medical Institute, China.Lipopolysaccharide (LPS, Escherichia coli, O55:B5) was purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (St.Louis, MO, USA).METHODS:A total of 27 Wistar rats, aged 7 days, were randomly assigned to sham-surgery group (n=15) with no carotid artery incision or hypoxia treatment, hypoxia/ischemia (H/I) group (n=12) undergoing ligature of the right common carotid artery followed by exposure to hypoxia at postnatal day 7 (P7), and LPS/H group (n=19), in which pregnant rats were exposed in utero to LPS followed by prenatal hypoxia at embryonic day 16.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Behavior, compound muscle action potential, and pathological changes were observed in 28-day-old rats.RESULTS:The footprint repeat space showed that left limb footprint repeatability in the H/I and LPS/H groups was lower than in the sham-surgery group (P<0.05).The space between the footprints was larger and unstable.Hind limb quadricep compound muscle action potential in the H/I and LPS/H groups showed lower wave amplitude compared with the sham-surgery group (P<0.05).Hematoxylin and eosin staining showed irregular cells around the ventricle, as well as periventricular leukomalacia.CONCLUSION:An animal model of cerebral palsy was established, which simulated the human condition most likely associated with occurrence of this disease.This model could be used for experimental studies related to cerebral palsy.Gang Chen Yanrong HU Wei Liu Jiang Li Linbao Wen Jianxin Li Lihui Zhao Xiaopeng Yang Yi Zhu Zhenzhu Sun Guangming Chi 2010Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,14:4
20Photodegradation of amoxicillin by catalyzed Fe^(3+)/H_2O_2 process显示文摘Three oxidation processes of UV-Fe3+(EDTA)/H2O2(UV:ultraviolet light;EDTA:ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid),UV-Fe3+/H2O2 and Fe3+/H2O2 were simultaneously investigated for the degradation of amoxicillin at pH 7.0.The results indicated that,100% amoxicillin degradation and 81.9% chemical oxygen demand(CODCr) removal could be achieved in the UV-Fe3+(EDTA)/H2O2 process.The treatment efficiency of amoxicillin and CODCr removal were found to decrease to 59.0% and 43.0% in the UV-Fe3+/H2O2 process;39.6% and 31.3% in the Fe3+/H2O2 process.Moreover,the results of biodegradability(biological oxygen demand(BOD5)/CODCr ratio) revealed that the UV-Fe3+(EDTA)/H2O2 process was a promising strategy to degrade amoxicillin as the biodegradability of the effuent was improved to 0.45,compared with the cases of UV-Fe3+/H2O2(0.25) and Fe3+/H2O2(0.10) processes.Therefore,it could be deduced that EDTA and UV light performed synergetic catalytic effect on the Fe3+/H2O2 process,enhancing the treatment efficiency.The degradation mechanisms were also investigated via UV-Vis spectra,and high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectra.The degradation pathway of amoxicillin was further proposed.Xiaoming Li Tingting Shen Dongbo Wang Xiu Yue Xian Liu Qi Yang Jianbin Cao Wei Zheng Guangming Zeng 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,2:3
