| 1 | Clinical characteristics and survival of 5283 esophageal cancer patients: A multicenter study from eighteen hospitals across six regions in China显示文摘Objective:This study aimed to investigate the potential determining epidemiological and clinical risk factors affecting the survival of esophageal cancer(EC)patients across multiple hospitals in China.Methods:This was a multicenter study comprising of newly diagnosed EC cases from Beijing,Hebei,Henan,Hubei,Zhejiang,and Guangdong Province of China.Their baseline characteristics and treatment methods data were collected from their medical records.The EpiData software was used for data quality control.The Kaplan-Meier method was used to estimate their overall survival(OS),and the Cox’s proportional hazard regression model was used to estimate hazard ratios(HR)and 95%confidence interval(CI).Results:The 3-and 5-year OS rates of the 5283 investigated EC patients were 49.98%and 39.07%,respectively.Their median survival was 36.00 months.The median survival time of females was longer than that of males(females vs.males:45.00 vs.33.00,P<0.001).The 5-year OS rate of patients who never-smoked was higher than that of smokers(never-smokers vs smokers:40.73%vs.37.84%,P=0.001).There was no significant difference in the 5-year OS rate between drinkers and never-drinkers(drinkers vs never-drinkers:34.22%vs.29.65%,P=0.330).In multivariate analysis,pathological stage(stage II:HR=1.80,95%CI=1.40-2.31;stage III:HR=2.62,95%CI=2.06-3.34;stage IV:HR=3.90,95%CI=2.98-5.09),poor differentiation/undifferentiated(HR=1.34,95%CI=1.11-1.63),not married status(HR=2.45,95%CI=1.49-4.04),production and service personnel(HR=1.36,95%CI=1.01-1.83)and farming/fishing(HR=1.40,95%CI=1.12-1.76)were independent prognostic risk factors for poor EC survival.Tumors in the thoracic or abdominal part of the esophagus,female and family history of any cancer were independent factors predictive of a good EC OS.Conclusion:Gender,marital status,occupation,family history of any cancer,tumor topographical site,differentiation status,and pathological stage were associated with the survival rate of EC.This study reveals important clinical characteristics of esophageal cancer patients in China and provides helpful information for their clinical management and surveillance. | Yutong He Di Liang Lingbin Du Tiantian Guo Yanyu Liu Xibin Sun Ning Wang Min Zhang Kuangrong Wei Baoen Shan Wanqing Chen | 2020 | Cancer Communications2020,40,10: | 8 |
| 2 | Anti-scattering light focusing by fast wavefront shaping based on multi-pixel encoded digital-micromirror device显示文摘Speed and enhancement are the two most important metrics for anti-scattering light focusing by wavefront shaping(WS),which requires a spatial light modulator with a large number of modulation modes and a fast speed of response.Among the commercial modulators,the digital-micromirror device(DMD)is the sole solution providing millions of modulation modes and a pattern rate higher than 20 kHz.Thus,it has the potential to accelerate the process of anti-scattering light focusing with a high enhancement.Nevertheless,modulating light in a binary mode by the DMD restricts both the speed and enhancement seriously.Here,we propose a multi-pixel encoded DMD-based WS method by combining multiple micromirrors into a single modulation unit to overcome the drawbacks of binary modulation.In addition,to efficiently optimize the wavefront,we adopted separable natural evolution strategies(SNES),which could carry out a global search against a noisy environment.Compared with the state-of-the-art DMD-based WS method,the proposed method increased the speed of optimization and enhancement of focus by a factor of 179 and 16,respectively.In our demonstration,we achieved 10 foci with homogeneous brightness at a high speed and formed W-and S-shape patterns against the scattering medium.The experimental results suggest that the proposed method will pave a new avenue for WS in the applications of biomedical imaging,photon therapy,optogenetics,dynamic holographic display,etc. | Jiamiao Yang Qiaozhi He Linxian Liu Yuan Qu Rongjun Shao Bowen Song Yanyu Zhao | 2021 | Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,8: | 4 |

The limit inferior of the regressors' frequencies of occurrences is employed to characterize the input's persistent excitation, under which the strong convergence and the convergence rate of the two-step estimation algorithm are given. As for the asymptotical efficiency,with a suitable selection of the weighting matrix in the algorithm, even though the limit of the product of the Cram′er-Rao(CR) lower bound and the data length does not exist as the data length goes to infinity, the estimates still can be asymptotically efficient in the sense of CR lower bound. | 6 | Total Synthesis of Three Families of Natural Antibiotics:Anthrabenzoxocinones,Fasamycins/Naphthacemycins,and Benastatins显示文摘Due to the critical bacterial resistance and antibiotic crisis,the discovery of new antibiotics is an urgent need in the clinic than ever.Naturally occurring antibiotics have proven to be an indispensable source of the development of new antibacterial agents.Herein,we report the total synthesis of three families of biogenetically related natural antibiotics,including anthrabenzoxocinones(ABXs),fasamycins/naphthacemycins,and benastatins.The synthesis featured divergent and convergent approaches,which enabled efficient construction of the basic polycyclic skeletons in 6–10 steps on a large-scale,followed by a collective synthesis of 14 natural products and their corresponding analogs.The core scaffold of gemdimethyl-anthracenone,a naturally occurring type II fatty acid-specific condensation enzyme(FabFspecific)antibiotic pharmacophore,was forged via a Ti(Oi-Pr)4-mediated photoenolization/Diels–Alder(PEDA)reaction between 2-isopropyl benzaldehyde and a variety of enones.A scale-up of the PEDA reaction was facilitated in an assembled continuous-flow reactor,which allowed us to overcome the issues associated with batch photochemistry.Subsequently,the synthetic natural antibiotics and their analogs would be utilized in structure–activity relationships(SAR)and mechanism studies,which should enable the discovery of new and leading antibiotic compounds. | Delu Jiang Kunyun Xin Baochao Yang Yanyu Chen Quan Zhang Haibing He Shuanhu Gao | 2020 | CCS Chemistry2020,2,6: | 1 |
| 7 | A new spirofluorene-based nonplanar PBI-dyad and its utilization in the film-based photo-production of singlet oxygen显示文摘Traditional photosensitizers are predominantly based on various types of polypyrrole macrocycles, which are generally used in homogeneous and/or suspension states. In the present study, a new non-polypyrrole-based photosensitizer(LW-PBI) was developed via the introduction of a nonplanar spirofluorene into a derivative of perylene bisimides(PBI) containing two longalkyl chains. Photophysical studies demonstrated that the compound shows good solubility in common organic solvents, great photochemical stability, and high absorption efficiency in the visible light region. Due to containing of two energetically matchable, independent fluorescent units, the compound as prepared displays strong tendency to form non-fluorescent chargeseparated states under light irradiation in polar solvents. Based on the merits, LW-PBI was examined for its catalytic property in the photo-production of singlet oxygen in film state. Luckily, the compound is an effective photosensitizer in the generation of the active oxygen species as verified by its unique reaction with uric acid(UA). Further studies revealed that the effective photoproduction of singlet oxygen can be also realized via the utilization of a tiny and low-price LED lamp as a light source and as a film support. | 10 | Nourishment and disaster mitigation efficiency of feeding sand on the dry section of a dissipative beach显示文摘To explore the nourishment effect and disaster reduction efficiency of a fully dissipative dry beach under the impact of storms,this paper uses the measured topography and hydrodynamic data to establish a one-dimensional numerical model of the XBeach beach profile.By numerically modeling the change in the nourished profile for different dry beach widths under normal waves and storm conditions and the recovery process of the profile after the storm,the degree of response in dry beach nourishment for the fully dissipative beach is analyzed.The results show that under normal wave conditions,the response of the nourished dry beach is obvious.Sediment on the dry beach erodes heavily,and the shoreline moves landward over a long distance.With the increase in the width and size of the dry beach,the wave height at the bottom of the backshore profile decreases,the wave height attenuation rate increases continuously,and the wave elimination effect is remarkable.When the storm incident wave intensifies,the wave height attenuation rate of the nourished dry beach decreases,indicating that the smaller the storm intensity is,the more significant the wave reduction effect of the nourished dry beach is.At the same time,different profile arrangements of nourished dry beaches suffer from different degrees of erosion under storm conditions,with significant changes in profile morphology.With intensified storm action,the intensity of sediment erosion in the nourished dry beach increases,the nourishment is weakened,and the recovery effect of the profile after the storm is not obvious.The results of the numerical modeling highlight that the dry beach nourishment method can resist storms to a certain extent,but the overall effect is relatively limited. | Yazhuang Zhao Hongshuai Qi Shaohua Zhao Feng Cai Jianhui Liu Pu Xu Zheyu Xiao Yanyu He Zhiyong Zhang | 2023 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2023,42,7: | 0 |

| 13 | Nonlinear investigation of beam-wave interaction in double-groove loaded folded-waveguide traveling-wave tube显示文摘A W-band traveling-wave tube (TWT) with double-groove loaded folded waveguide structure (FWSWS) has been designed and numerically modelled. The nonlinear performance of such a TWT is investigated by a particle-in-cell code MAGIC3D. Simulation results indicate this TWT produces a saturated electromagnetic power of 170.2 W at 90 GHz, corresponding to 36.9 dB gain and 69.6 mm interaction distance. A comparison between the novel folded waveguide traveling-wave tube (FWTWT) and the conventional one is also carried out to verify the effect of groove loading on the large-signal performance of TWT. Within the same working conditions, the double groove-loaded FWTWT could obtain higher saturated output power and gain in a shorter interaction length. The maximum of output power and gain of this novel TWT is 58.6% and 10% higher than those of the conventional FWTWT, while the 3-dB bandwidth of TWT is reduced to 4 GHz.
