| 1 | Community structure and composition of the Cambrian Chengjiang biota显示文摘Based on previously published species data(228 species in over 18 phyla) and field sampling(114 species and 18406 individuals) in the Chengjiang-Haikou-Anning area,we analyzed quantitatively the paleocommunity composition and structure of the Cambrian Chengjiang biota(Cambrian Series 2,eastern Yunnan,China).Arthropods dominate the community both in species diversity(species:37%) and in abundance(individuals:51.8%).Priapulids(individuals:22.6%) and brachiopods(individuals:16.3%) follow in abundance rank.The arthropod Kunmingella douvillei(26.2%),the priapulid Cricocosmia jinning-ensis(15.4%),and the brachiopod Diandongia pista(11%) are the three most abundant species.Ecological analyses show that the community was dominated by epifaunal organisms(species:63%,individuals:68.4%) followed by infaunal organisms(species:11.9%,individuals:25.9%),nektobenthic organisms(species:11.5%,individuals:2.6%),and pelagic organisms(species:5.3%,individuals:3.1%).The diverse feeding strategies,dominated by suspension feeders(species:35.6%,individuals:26.1%) and hunter/scavengers(species:31.1%,individuals:40.4%),indicate the former existence of a complex food chain and intense competition.Epifaunal vagrant omnivores(28.2%),infaunal vagrant hunter/scavengers(19.8%),epifaunal sessile suspension feeders(17.7%),and epifaunal vagrant hunter/scavengers(15.3%) were the most abundant ecological groups,represented primarily by arthropods,poriferans,priapulids,and brachiopods.Ecological group analyses reveal that the early Cambrian Chengjiang biota is similar in community patterns and functional relations to modern biotas in shallow marine settings. | ZHAO FangChen ZHU MaoYan HU ShiXue | 2010 | Science China Earth Sciences2010,53,12: | 14 |
| 2 | Eocrinoid echinoderms from the Lower Cambrian Guanshan Fauna in Wuding,Yunnan,China显示文摘This is a brief report of a new occurrence of eocrinoids from the Early Cambrian Wulongqing Formation in Yunnan, China. The eocrinoids from the Guanshan fauna are among the earliest known eocrinoids. Different from many other Early and Middle Cambrian eocrinoids, the Guanshan eocrinoids are char-acterized by the absence of sutural pores and epispires, the long and spiral brachioles, the extremely long stalk, and the ratio of the length of the stalk versus that of the calyx. C. haikouensis shows a long and slim body similar to that of Cathaymyrus diadexus Shu et al., Zhongxiniscus approaches to Myllokunmingia and Haikouichthvs in the dorsal fin, but differs in the myomeres. | 5 | New observations of the lobopod-like worm Facivermis from the Early Cambrian Chengjiang Lagerstatte显示文摘Facivermis yunnanicus (Hou & Chen, 1989), from the Early Cambrian Chengjiang Lager- st?tte, a worm-like fossil with 5 pairs of tentacles and a perceived shrunken end, has been regarded as related to polychaetes, later it has been variously interpreted as lobopods, Pentastoma and lopho- phorates. Newly discovered complete specimens by the ELI field team show that the taxon has, in addition to the 5 pairs of appendages, a pear-shaped trunk end bearing two or three circles of hooks. Accordingly, based on these important morphological characters, reconsideration of its affinities is provided and the taxonomy is remedied herein. Because the five pairs of appendages of Facivermis yunnanicus resemble the appendages of the fore-trunk of lobopod Mi- raluolishania (Liu & Shu, 2004), it seems that they are homologous structures. | 6 | A New Arthropod,Guangweicaris Luo,Fu et Hu gen. nov. from the Early Cambrian Guanshan Fauna,Kunming,China显示文摘The Guanshan Fauna is a soft-bodied fauna dominated by arthropods (including trilobites, trilobitoides, Tuzoia, Isoxys, and bradorids) in association with priapulids, brachiopods, anomalocaridids, vetulicoliids, sponges, chancellorids, and echinoderms. This paper reports and describes a new arthropod from the yellowish green mudstone at the lower part of the Wulongqing Formation, Canglangpuan Stage, Lower Cambrian in Kunming, Yunnan, China. The stratigraphic and geographic distribution, classification, fossil preservation, life style of this new arthropod and comparisons with other fossil arthropods are also discussed in details. The discovery and research of the non-mineralized arthropod, Guangweicaris Luo, Fu et Hu gen. nov. from the Guanshan Fauna adds new members to the taxonomic list and provides new information to the evolution of early arthropods. | 7 | Palaeoecological Analysis of Trace Fossil Sinusichnus sinuosus from the Middle Triassic Guanling Formationin Southwestern China显示文摘The Luoping Biota discovered from the early Middle Triassic(Anisian) Guanling Formation of southwestern China represents a fully recovered shallow marine ecosystem, marking the end point of Early Triassic biotic recovery following the end-Permian mass extinction. Contemporaneously preserved are prolific trace fossils, which offer good opportunities to understand the palaeoecology of marine invertebrates from a fully recovered shallow marine ecosystem. Here we present a newly discovered sinuous branching burrow from the fossil-bearing unit in Member II of the Guanling Formation. Several features, including the horizontal regular sinuous nature, the branching pattern, typical H-junction, and the small wavelength/amplitude ratio of these sinuous structures within the burrow systems justify assignment of these traces as Sinusichnus sinuosus, a trace possibly produced by decapod crustaceans. Close association of S. sinuosus with Rhizocorallium commune suggests a deposit-feeding strategy of these trace makers. The newly reported Anisian material from the Guanling Formation in Luoping represents first report of Sinusichnus from South China. The global record of Sinusichnus occurrence suggests that these burrows might have an older history than Early Middle Triassic. | Mao Luo Yi-Ming Gong G. R. | 8 | New anomalocaridid frontal appendages from the Guanshan biota,eastern Yunnan显示文摘Anomalocaridids were large predators of the Cambrian seas at the top of the trophic pyramid.Complete anomalocaridid specimens have been rarely discovered and the rigid isolated frontal appendages and mouthparts are more commonly preserved.Here we study new material of the frontal appendages from the Wulongqing Formation,Cambrian Stage 4,Series 2 near Kunming,eastern Yunnan.Two new forms of anomalocaridid frontal appendages are described,namely Anomalocaris kunmingensis sp.nov.and Paranomalocaris multisegmentalis gen.nov.,sp.nov.The frontal appendage of A.kunmingensis sp.nov.probably comprises15 podomeres of which the first one has a weakened skeletoned,the second one is armed with small spines,and the third one is armed with remarkably robust proximal ventral spines with 6 anisomerous auxiliary spines;paired auxiliary spines are associated with podomeres 4–14;podomeres 12–14 are armed with paired dorsal spines,and the last podomere bears 2 distal spines,one spine distinctly larger than the other.The frontal appendage of P.multisegmentalis tapered backwards,consisting of 22 visible podomeres;the most ventral spine is armed with 5 pairs of auxiliary spines,and podomeres 12–21 bear dorsal spines,the last podomere with 2 small distal spines.The new material provides additional evidence for our understanding of the diversity of anomalocaridids in the Cambrian.The morphology of these new finds may indicate the importance of different feeding strategies of anomalocaridids in the Cambrian ecosystem. | WANG YuanYuan HUANG DiYing HU ShiXue | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,32: | 2 |

| 15 | Blockage of EGFR/AKT and mevalonate pathways synergize the antitumor effect of temozolomide by reprogramming energy metabolism in glioblastoma显示文摘Background Metabolism reprogramming plays a vital role in glioblastoma(GBM)progression and recurrence by producing enough energy for highly proliferating tumor cells.In addition,metabolic reprogramming is crucial for tumor growth and immune-escape mechanisms.Epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)amplification and EGFR-vIII mutation are often detected in GBM cells,contributing to the malignant behavior.This study aimed to investigate the functional role of the EGFR pathway on fatty acid metabolism remodeling and energy generation.Methods Clinical GBM specimens were selected for single-cell RNA sequencing and untargeted metabolomics analysis.A metabolism-associated RTK-fatty acid-gene signature was constructed and verified.MK-2206 and MK-803 were utilized to block the RTK pathway and mevalonate pathway induced abnormal metabolism.Energy metabolism in GBM with activated EGFR pathway was monitored.The antitumor effect of Osimertinib and Atorvastatin assisted by temozolomide(TMZ)was analyzed by an intracranial tumor model in vivo.Results GBM with high EGFR expression had characteristics of lipid remodeling and maintaining high cholesterol levels,supported by the single-cell RNA sequencing and metabolomics of clinical GBM samples.Inhibition of the EGFR/AKT and mevalonate pathways could remodel energy metabolism by repressing the tricarboxylic acid cycle and modulating ATP production.Mechanistically,the EGFR/AKT pathway upregulated the expressions of acyl-CoA synthetase short-chain family member 3(ACSS3),acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 3(ACSL3),and long-chain fatty acid elongation-related gene ELOVL fatty acid elongase 2(ELOVL2)in an NF-κB-dependent manner.Moreover,inhibition of the mevalonate pathway reduced the EGFR level on the cell membranes,thereby affecting the signal transduction of the EGFR/AKT pathway.Therefore,targeting the EGFR/AKT and mevalonate pathways enhanced the antitumor effect of TMZ in GBM cells and animal models.Conclusions Our findings not only uncovered the mechanism of metabolic reprogramming in EGFR-activated GBM but also provided a combinatorial therapeutic strategy for clinical GBM management. | Xiaoteng Cui Jixing Zhao Guanzhang Li Chao Yang Shixue Yang Qi Zhan Junhu Zhou Yunfei Wang Menglin Xiao Biao Hong Kaikai Yi Fei Tong Yanli Tan Hu Wang Qixue Wang Tao Jiang Chuan Fang Chunsheng Kang | 2023 | Cancer Communications2023,43,12: | 0 |
