1Principles and construction of MSD adder in ternary optical computer显示文摘The two remarkable features of ternary values and a massive unit with thousands bits of parallel computation will make the ternary optical computer (TOC) with modified signed-digit (MSD) adder more powerful and e?cient than ever before for numerical calculations. Based on the decrease-radix design presented previously, a TOC can satisfy either a user requiring huge capacity for data calculations or one with a moderate amount of data, if it is equipped with a prepared adder. Furthermore, with the application of pipelined operations and the proposed data editing technique, the e?ciency of the prepared adder can be greatly improved, so that each calculated result can be obtained almost within one clock cycle. 3One-step approach for full-thickness skin defect reconstruction in rats using minced split-thickness skin grafts with Pelnac overlay显示文摘Background:Split-thickness skin grafting is the current gold standard for the treatment of traumatic skin loss.However,for patients with extensive burns,split-thickness skin grafting is limited by donor skin availability.Grafting split-thickness skin minced into micrografts increases the expansion ratio but may reduce wound repair quality.Dermal substitutes such as Pelnac can enhance the healing of full-thickness skin wounds,but their application currently requires two surgeries.The present study investigated whether it is possible to repair full-thickness skin defects and improve wound healing quality in a single surgery using Pelnac as an overlay of minced split-thickness skin grafts in a rat model.Methods:A full-thickness skin defect model was established using male Sprague-Dawley rats of 10 weeks old.The animals were randomly divided into control and experimental groups in which Vaseline gauze and Pelnac,respectively,were overlaid on minced split-thickness skin grafts to repair the defects.Wound healing rate and quality were compared between the two groups.For better illustration of the quality of wound healing,some results were compared with those obtained for normal skin of rats.Results:We found that using Pelnac as an overlay for minced split-thickness skin grafts accelerated wound closure and stimulated cell proliferation and tissue angiogenesis.In addition,this approach enhanced collagen synthesis and increased the formation of basement membrane and dermis as well as the expression of growth factors related to wound healing while reducing scar formation.Conclusions:Using minced split-thickness skin grafts overlaid with Pelnac enables the reconstruction of fullthickness skin defects in a single step and can increase the healing rate while improving the quality of wound healing.Tong Liu Chao Qiu Chi Ben Haihang Li Shihui Zhu 2019Burns & Trauma2019,7,1:7
4Empirical investigation of stochastic local search for maximum satisfiability显示文摘The maximum satisfiability (MAX-SAT)problem is an important NP-hard problem in theory,and has a broad range of applications in practice.Stochastic local search (SLS)is becoming an increasingly popular method for solving MAX-SAT.Recently,a powerful SLS algorithm called CCLS shows efficiency on solving random and crafted MAX-SAT instances.However,the performance of CCLS on solving industrial MAX-SAT instances lags far behind.In this paper,we focus on experimentally analyzing the performance of SLS algorithms for solving industrial MAXSAT instances.First,we conduct experiments to analyze why CCLS performs poor on industrial instances.Then we propose a new strategy called additive BMS (Best from Multiple Selections)to ease the serious issue.By integrating CCLS and additive BMS,we develop a new SLS algorithm for MAXSAT called CCABMS,and related experiments indicate the efficiency of CCABMS.Also,we experimentally analyze the effectiveness of initialization methods on SLS algorithms for MAX-SAT,and combine an effective initialization method with CCABMS,resulting in an enhanced algorithm.Experimental results show that our enhanced algorithm performs better than its state-of-the-art SLS competitors on a large number of industrial MAX-SAT instances.Yi CHU Chuan LUO Shaowei CAI Haihang YOU 2019Frontiers of Computer Science2019,13,1:3
5Peroxidase-like properties of Ruthenium nanoframes显示文摘This work reports the inherent peroxidase-like properties of Ruthenium(Ru) nanoframes. After templating with Palladium(Pd) seeds, Ru nanoframes with an octahedral shape, average edge length of 6.2 nm, and thickness of 1.8 nm were synthesized in high purity([95 %) and good uniformity. Using the oxidation of 3,30,5,50-tetramethylbenzidine(TMB) by H2O2 as a model catalytic reaction, the Ru frames were demonstrated to be approximately three times more active than natural peroxidases in catalyzing the formation of colored products. As compared to their natural counterparts, Ru frames have a stronger binding affinity to TMB as well as a weaker binding affinity to hydrogen peroxide during the catalysis. The Ru frames as peroxidase mimics proved to be chemically and thermally stable. 15Spin Hall effect in prototype Rashba ferroelectrics GeTe and SnTe显示文摘Ferroelectric Rashba semiconductors(FERSCs)have recently emerged as a promising class of spintronics materials.The peculiar coupling between spin and polar degrees of freedom responsible for several exceptional properties,including ferroelectric switching of Rashba spin texture,suggests that the electron’s spin could be controlled by using only electric fields.In this regard,recent experimental studies revealing charge-to-spin interconversion phenomena in two prototypical FERSCs,GeTe and SnTe,appear extremely relevant.Here,by employing density functional theory calculations,we investigate spin Hall effect(SHE)in these materials and show that it can be large either in ferroelectric or paraelectric structure.We further explore the compatibility between doping required for the practical realization of SHE in semiconductors and polar distortions which determine Rashba-related phenomena in FERSCs,but which could be suppressed by free charge carriers.Haihang Wang Priya Gopal Silvia Picozzi Stefano Curtarolo Marco Buongiorno Nardelli Jagoda Sławińska 2020npj Computational Materials2020,,1:1

19A numerical study on smoke behaviors in inclined tunnel fires under natural ventilation显示文摘To investigate the effect of tunnel slope on hot gas movement and smoke distribution in a slopping tunnel fire,a series of tunnel fire models are built by fire dynamics simulator(FDS),with a slope varies from 0 to 10%.Parameters such as ceiling temperature and airflow velocity are measured.The results indicate that the relationship between smoke back-layering length and tunnel slope can be described as an exponential function.The smoke temperature at the downstream exit first increased and then decreased with a higher slope.The airflow velocity at downstream outlet increased nonlinearity when tunnel slope was less than 8%.In the slope tunnel,the fire smoke spread process can be divided into three stages.Fire smoke spreads upstream to the peak distance,subsequently,the upstream smoke layer decreases gradually,the tunnel fire reaches a quasi-steady state.The backflow characteristics of smoke in sloped tunnels are coupled with the downstream length and outlet smoke temperature.In the initial stage of a slope tunnel fire,smoke spreads upstream for a long distance,endangering human health.Jie Kong Wenjiao You Zhisheng Xu Hui Liu Haihang Li 2022Journal of Safety Science and Resilience2022,3,2:1
20Numerical and experimental study on the critical velocity and smoke maximum temperature in the connected area of branch tunnel显示文摘The objective of this study is to investigate critical velocity and smoke maximum temperature beneath the ceiling in the connected area of branch tunnel with varying fire locations.The fire sources were located in the divergent connected area of the branch tunnel,to imitate traffic accidents near the branch point.A 1/20 scale model branch tunnel was built including main line before branch,main line after branch,and ramp.Experimental tests and numerical simulations were performed to explore smoke movement characteristics with longitudinal ventilation.The results showed that the enlarged cross-sectional area in branch tunnel caused the shortening of the back-layering length,and a modified model of back-layering length was proposed.The higher tunnel height in this work affected the critical condition of large fire;it caused a larger transition point of dimensionless critical velocity.A revised model was proposed for the maximum temperature rise of tunnel fires in the connected area of branch tunnel.The critical velocity kept unchanged when the branch angle increased from 0°to 20°because there is little change in the longitudinal smoke temperature.As the local tunnel width of fire source was increased,the required critical velocity was increased while the local effective velocity kept nearly the same.Haihang Li Fei Tang 2022Building Simulation2022,15,4:1
