Mitotic motor CENP-E cooperates with PRC1 in temporal control of central spindle assembly显示文摘Error-free cell division depends on the accurate assembly of the spindle midzone from dynamic spindle microtubules to ensure chromatid segregation during metaphase-anaphase transition. However, the mechanism underlying the key transition from the mitotic spindle to central spindle before anaphase onset remains elusive.Given the prevalence of chromosome instability phenotype in gastric tumorigenesis,we developed a strategy to model context-dependent cell division using a combination of light sheet microscope and 3D gastric organoids.Light sheet microscopic image analyses of 3D organoids showed that CENP-E inhibited cells undergoing aberrant metaphase-anaphase transition and exhibiting chromosome segregation errors during mitosis.Highresolution real-time imaging analyses of 2D cell culture revealed that CENP-E inhibited cells undergoing central spindle splitting and chromosome instability phenotype.Using biotinylated syntelin as an affinity matrix,we found that CENP-E forms a complex with PRC1 in mitotic cells.Chemical inhibition of CENP-E in metaphase by syntelin prevented accurate central spindle assembly by perturbing temporal assembly of PRC1 to the midzone.Thus,CENP-E-mediated PRC1 assembly to the central spindle constitutes a temporal switch to organize dynamic kinetochore microtubules into stable midzone arrays. These findings reveal a previously uncharacterized role of CENP-E in temporal control of central spindle assembly.Since CENP-E is absent from yeast,we reasoned that metazoans evolved an elaborate central spindle organization machinery to ensure accurate sister chromatid segregation during anaphase and cytokinesis. | Xu Liu Leilei Xu Junying Li Phil Y.Yao Wanjuan Wang Hazrat Ismail Haowei Wang Bryce Liao Zhihong Yang Tarsha Ward Ke Ruan Jianchun Zhang Quan Wu Ping He Xia Ding Dongmei Wang Chuanhai Fu Zhen Dou Feng Yan Wenwen Wang Xing Liu Xuebiao Yao | 2020 | Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2020,12,8: | 3
Recent snow cover variation in the Upper Indus Basin of Gilgit Baltistan, Hindukush Karakoram Himalaya显示文摘Mountainous basins like the Upper Indus Basin(UIB) of Gilgit Baltistan(GB) are dependent on seasonal snowmelt and glacier melt. Monitoring of the snow-covered area(SCA) is not only vital for the overall hydrology of the Indus basin but also important to the sustainable agriculture and hydropower system. The snow-covered area in the UIB of GB was investigated for changes over the last 18 years using the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS) snow product. The study area was divided into five elevation zones ranging from 877-8564 meters above sea level(m ASL). In contrast to the global cryosphere related studies, SCA in the UIB is slightly increasing. Elevation based SCA analysis also indicated that SCA is slightly increasing in each elevation zone. However, a significant amount of snow is concentrated in areas above 5000 m ASL. Due to the strong correlation between SCA and precipitation, the precipitation data also follow a similar trend. Analysis of the climatic data suggests a statistically significant increase in total monthly precipitation and relative humidity, a slight decrease in mean monthly temperature and a significant upward tendency in monthly solar irradiance data. All these trends in combination with the increasing trend in global precipitation, winter westerly disturbances and orographic precipitation are the important factors behind the slightly increasing SCA in the study area. Our results though constrained by short observation period mainly contribute to the understanding of advancing snow cover and glaciers in Hindukush Karakoram. | Hazrat BILAL CHAMHURI Siwar MAZLIN Bin Mokhtar KASTURI Devi Kanniah | 2019 | Journal of Mountain Science2019,16,2: | 3

Prevalent fecal contamination in drinking water resources and potential health risks in Swat, Pakistan显示文摘Fecal bacteria contaminate water resources and result in associated waterborne diseases. This study assessed drinking water quality and evaluated their potential health risks in Swat, Pakistan. Ground and surface drinking water were randomly collected from upstream to downstream in the River Swat watershed and analyzed for fecal contamination using fecal indicator bacteria(Escherichia coli) and physiochemical parameters(potential of hydrogen, turbidity, temperature, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solid, color, odor and taste). The physiochemical parameters were within their safe limits except in a few locations, whereas, the fecal contaminations in drinking water resources exceeded the drinking water quality standards of Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency(Pak-EPA),2008 and World Health Organization(WHO), 2011. Multivariate and univariate analyses revealed that downstream urbanization trend, minimum distance between water sources and pit latrines/sewerage systems, raw sewage deep well injection and amplified urban, pastures and agricultural runoffs having human and animal excreta were the possible sources of contamination. The questionnaire survey revealed that majority of the local people using 10–20 years old drinking water supply schemes at the rate of 73% well supply,13% hand pump supply, 11% spring supply and 3% river/streams supply, which spreads high prevalence of water borne diseases including hepatitis, intestinal infections and diarrhea, dysentery, cholera, typhoid fever, jaundice and skin diseases in children followed by older and younger adults. | Kifayatullah Khan Yonglong Lu Mian Abdal Saeed Hazrat Bilal Hassan Sher Hizbullah Khan Jafar Ali Pei Wang Herman Uwizeyimana Yvette Baninla Qifeng Li Zhaoyang Liu Javed Nawab Yunqiao Zhou Chao Su Ruoyu Liang | 2018 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2018,30,10: | 1
Sustainable Utilization and Economic Development of Some Plant Resources in Northern Pakistan显示文摘Overshadowed by the vast impact that habitat loss has on targeted plant species survival, it is easy to overlook the fact that utilization and harvesting of species can often result in their genetic depletion and in an often rapid downward trend of their population status. In this regard an ethnobotanical study on the medicinal plants of Shawar valley, District Swat was conducted with the aims to document medicinal plants and to examine the current status of the medicinal plants trade as well as the market chain starting from collectors to consumers. The survey reported 50 species of plants belonging to 33 families as ethnomedicinally important. These species were used as crud drugs by the local people and folk-lore for treating diseases in traditional system of medicine. The detailed local uses, recipe preparation along with their local names and diseases treated were recorded for each species.Market survey revealed that the structure of medicinal plant trade is complex and heterogeneous, involving many players. The collectors are often not aware of the high market prices and medicinal values, and most of the collected material is sold to local middlemen at a very low price. There was an increase of 3 to 5 folds in prices from collectors to the national market.Recommendations were given in the spheres of training sustainable harvesting and post harvesting of wild medicinal plant resources, trade monitoring, equitable sharing of benefits of wild resources, improved control on harvesting and trade for the conservation of resources, enhancement of cultivation efforts, future research into trade in wild harvested plants, community participation in natural resource management and value addition in the herbal products to maximize the benefits. | Hassan Sher M Ajaz Hazrat Sher | 2007 | 云南植物研究2007,29,2: | 1

Mechanisms and regulation underlying membraneless organelle plasticity control显示文摘Evolution has enabled living cells to adopt their structural and functional complexity by organizing intricate cellular compartments, such as membrane-bound and membraneless organelles(MLOs),for spatiotemporal catalysis of physiochemical reactions essential for cell plasticity control.Emerging evidence and view support the notion that MLOs are built by multivalent interactions of biomolecules via phase separation and transition mechanisms. In healthy cells, dynamic chemical modifications regulate MLO plasticity, and reversible phase separation is essential for cell homeostasis.Emerging evidence revealed that aberrant phase separation results in numerous neurodegenerative disorders, cancer, and other diseases. In this review,we provide molecular underpinnings on(i)mechanistic understanding of phase separation,(ii)unifying structural and mechanistic principles that underlie this phenomenon,(iii)various mechanisms that are used by cells for the regulation of phase separation, and(iv)emerging therapeutic and other applications. | Hazrat Ismail Xu Liu Fengrui Yang Junying Li Ayesha Zahid Zhen Dou Xing Liu Xuebiao Yao | 2021 | Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2021,13,4: | 1

Control of Wave Propagation and Effect of Kerr Nonlinearity on Group Index显示文摘We use four-level atomic system and control the wave propagation via forbidden decay rate. The Raman gain process becomes dominant on electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) medium by increasing the forbidden decay rate via increasing the number of atoms [G.S. Agarwal and T.N. Dey, Phys. Rev. A 74 (2005) 043805 and K. Harada, T. Kanbashi, and M. Mitsunaga, Phys. Rev. A 73 (2006) 013803]. The behavior of wave propagation is dramatically changed from normal (subluminal) to anomalous (superluminal) dispersion by increasing the forbidden decay rate. The system can also give a control over the group velocity of the light propagating through the medium via Kerr field. | Hazrat Ali Ziauddin Iftikhar Ahmed | 2013 | Communications in Theoretical Physics2013,60,7: | 1

Evolution of real area of contact due to combined normal load and sub-surface straining in sheet metal显示文摘Understanding asperity flattening is vital for a reliable macro-scale modeling of friction and wear.In sheet metal forming processes, sheet surface asperities are deformed due to contact forces between the tools and the workpiece. In addition,as the sheet metal is strained while retaining the normal load, the asperity deformation increases significantly.Deformation of the asperities determines the real area of contact which influences the friction and wear at the tool-sheet metal contact. The real area of contact between two contacting rough surfaces depends on type of loading, material behavior, and topography of the contacting surfaces. In this study,an experimental setup is developed to investigate the effect of a combined normal load and sub-surface strain on real area of contact.Uncoated and zinc coated steel sheets(GI)with different coating thicknesses, surface topographies, and substrate materials are used in the experimental study.Finite element(FE)analyses are performed on measured surface profiles to further analyze the behavior observed in the experiments and to understand the effect of surface topography, and coating thickness on the evolution of the real area of contact. Finally,an analytical model is presented to determine the real area contact under combined normal load and sub-surface strain. The results show that accounting for combined normal load and sub-surface straining effects is necessary for accurate predictions of the real area of contact. | Meghshyam SHISODE Javad HAZRAT Tanmaya MISHRA Matthijn DE ROOIJ Ton VAN DEN BOOGAAED | 2021 | Friction2021,9,4: | 0
Classification with ensembles and case study on functional magnetic resonance imaging显示文摘The ensemble is a technique that strategically combines basic models to achieve better accuracy rates.Diversity, combination methods, and selection topology are the main factors determining ensemble performance.Consequently,it is a challenging task to design an efficient ensemble scheme.Even though numerous paradigms have been proposed to classify ensemble schemes, there is still much room for improvement. This paper proposes a general framework for creating ensembles in the context of classification.Specifically, the ensemble framework consists of four stages:objectives, data preparing, model training, and model testing. It is comprehensive to design diverse ensembles. The proposed ensemble approach can be used for a wide variety of machine learning tasks. We validate our approach on real-world datasets. The experimental results show the efficiency of the proposed approach. | Adnan OM.Abuassba Zhang Dezheng Hazrat Ali Fan Zhang Khan Ali | 2022 | Digital Communications and Networks2022,8,1: | 0
Constraints and Opportunities for Sustainable Livelihoods and Cash Income Generation from NTFPs in the Mountains of Northern Parts of Pakistan显示文摘Pakistan′s forest resource base is mostly found in the mountains of the North-West Frontier Province (NWFP) supporting the livelihood of the rural poor and providing different ecological services. The present study was, therefore, initiated with the aim to evaluate different constraints and opportunities for sustainable livelihoods and cash income generation from NTFPs in the mountainous area of NWFP,Pakistan during 2008.Information was collected through questionnaire and interviews during field trips.A total of 117 NTFPs species have been recorded which are being used locally for various purposes such as fuel wood, fodder, medicinal plants, vegetables, mushroom, agricultural tools making,furniture,thatching,shade,fencing/poles,ornamental purpose and animal products. The majority of plants are multi-functional like Pinus wallichiana provides timber, firewood, torch wood, the leaves/small branches are used as thatch for roofing, split logs are used for fencing and the decomposed needles are collected as humus for agricultural fields. These products were widely used by the indigenous community supporting their livelihood. The study proposes protection and sustainable management of these valuable resources for rural livelihoods, which might be useful for developing regional strategies of sustainable management of forest resources. | Hassan Sher Jehangir Khan Kiramat Khan Hazrat Sher Muhammad Elyemeni | 2010 | 云南植物研究2010,32,2: | 0
