| 1 | Development, chromosome location and genetic mapping of EST-SSR markers in wheat显示文摘A number of 151695 wheat expression sequence tags (ESTs) that originated from GenBank/dbEST from July 14, 2003 to August 24, 2004 were used to search for simple sequence repeats (SSRs) with motif 2―5 bp, and 2038 simple sequence repeats (EST-SSRs), which accounted for 1.34% of EST database, were identified. Based on these SSR sequences, 249 EST-SSR primer pairs and 166 amplified clear bands in various wheat cultivars were designed. These EST-SSR markers can be used as new molecular markers in wheat and related species. Using Chinese Spring nulli-tetrasomic lines, 93 EST-SSR primer pairs and 193 EST-SSR loci were located on 19 wheat chromosomes except for 4A and 4B. | 2 | A simple model of radial nerve injury in the rhesus monkey to evaluate peripheral nerve repair显示文摘Current research on bone marrow stem cell transplantation and autologous or xenogenic nerve transplantation for peripheral nerve regeneration has mainly focused on the repair of peripheral nerve defects in rodents.In this study,we established a standardized experimental model of radial nerve defects in primates and evaluated the effect of repair on peripheral nerve injury.We repaired 2.5-cm lesions in the radial nerve of rhesus monkeys by transplantation of autografts,acellular allografts,or acellular allografts seeded with autologous bone marrow stem cells.Five months after surgery,regenerated nerve tissue was assessed for function,electrophysiology,and histomorphometry.Postoperative functional recovery was evaluated by the wrist-extension test.Compared with the simple autografts,the acellular allografts and allografts seeded with bone marrow stem cells facilitated remarkable recovery of the wrist-extension functions in the rhesus monkeys.This functional improvement was coupled with radial nerve distal axon growth,a higher percentage of neuron survival,increased nerve fiber density and diameter,increased myelin sheath thickness,and increased nerve conduction velocities and peak amplitudes of compound motor action potentials.Furthermore,the quality of nerve regeneration in the bone marrow stem cells-laden allografts group was comparable to that achieved with autografts.The wrist-extension test is a simple behavioral method for objective quantification of peripheral nerve regeneration. | Dong Wang Xijun Huang Guo Fu Liqiang Gu Xiaolin Liu Honggang Wang Jun Hu Jianhua Yi Xiaofeng Niu Qingtang Zhu | 2014 | Neural Regeneration Research2014,9,10: | 3 |
| 3 | Comparison of dimension reduction-based logistic regression models for case-control genome-wide association study:principal components analysis vs.partial least squares显示文摘With recent advances in biotechnology, genome-wide association study(GWAS) has been widely used to identify genetic variants that underlie human complex diseases and traits. In case-control GWAS, typical statistical strategy is traditional logistical regression(LR) based on single-locus analysis. However, such a single-locus analysis leads to the well-known multiplicity problem, with a risk of inflating type I error and reducing power. Dimension reduction-based techniques, such as principal component-based logistic regression(PC-LR), partial least squares-based logistic regression(PLS-LR), have recently gained much attention in the analysis of high dimensional genomic data. However, the perfor?mance of these methods is still not clear, especially in GWAS. We conducted simulations and real data application to compare the type I error and power of PC-LR, PLS-LR and LR applicable to GWAS within a defined single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) set region. We found that PC-LR and PLS can reasonably control type I error under null hypothesis.On contrast, LR, which is corrected by Bonferroni method, was more conserved in all simulation settings. In particular, we found that PC-LR and PLS-LR had comparable power and they both outperformed LR, especially when the causal SNP was in high linkage disequilibrium with genotyped ones and with a small effective size in simulation. | 8 | Generalized cryptanalysis of RSA with small public exponent显示文摘In this paper, we demonstrate that there exist weak keys in the RSA public-key cryptosystem with the public exponent e = N~α N^(0.5). In 1999, Boneh and Durfee showed that when α≈ 1 and the private exponent d = N~β< N^(0.292), the system is insecure. Moreover, their attack is still effective for 0.5 < α < 1.875.We propose a generalized cryptanalytic method to attack the RSA cryptosystem with α≤0.5. For c = [(1-α)/α] and e^(γc)≡ d(mod e^c), when γ, β satisfy γ < 1+1/c-1/(2αc) and β < αc +7/6- αγc-1/3(6α + 6αc + 1- 6αγc)^(1/2), we can perform cryptanalytic attacks based on the LLL algorithm. | 11 | Efficient Pairing Computation on Twisted Weierstrass Curves显示文摘In this paper, we construct the twists of twisted Edwards curves in Weierstrass form. Then we define a new twisted Ate pairing on twisted Weierstrass curves named the Tx-Ate pairing. Following Miller's algorithm, we give a computation of the Tx-Ate pairing on high degree twisted Weierstrass curves, where the point operations are over Edwards form, and the computation of Miller function is over Weierstrass form. Although, in one doubling loop, our method to compute the Tx-Ate pairing is a litter slower than the previously fastest method.By twists, the Tx-Ate pairing can be calculated on more twisted Weierstrass curves with short loop length.
