2Progress in Research and Development of Molten Chloride Salt Technology for Next Generation Concentrated Solar Power Plants显示文摘Concentrated solar power(CSP)plants with thermal energy storage(TES)system are emerging as one kind of the most promising power plants in the future renewable energy system,since they can supply dispatchable and low-cost electricity with abundant but intermittent solar energy.In order to significantly reduce the levelized cost of electricity(LCOE)of the present commercial CSP plants,the next generation CSP technology with higher process temperature and energy efficiency is being developed.The TES system in the next generation CSP plants works with new TES materials at higher temperatures(>565℃)compared to that with the commercial nitrate salt mixtures.This paper reviews recent progressin research and development of the next generation CSP and TES technology.Emphasis is given on theadvanced'TES technology based on molten chloride salt mixtures such as MgCl_(2)/NaCl/KCl which hassimilar thermo-physical properties as the commercial nitrate salt mixtures,higher thermal stability(>800℃),and lower costs(<0.35USD·kg^(-1)).Recent progress in the selection/optimization of chloridesalts,determination of molten chloride salt properties,and corrosion control of construction materials(eg.,alloys)in molten chlorides is reviewed.Wenjin Ding Thomas Bauer 2021Engineering2021,7,3:15

4Preparation of a Crosslinked Chitosan Coated Calcium Sulfate Whisker and Its Reinforcement in Polyvinyl Chloride显示文摘A calcium sulfate whisker(CSW) coated with glutaraldehyde crosslinked chitosan(GACS) was prepared to reinforce polyvinyl chloride(PVC) in this study. The results show that the optimum concentration of both chitosan(CS) and glutaraldehyde(GA) is 0.05 wt%. The tensile strength, impact strength, flexural modulus and vicat softening temperature of the PVC composite with 12 wt% of modified CSW are increased by 17.5%, 40.4%, 0.8% and 3.8% compared with those of the PVC composite with 12 wt% of unmodified CSW, and by 2.9%, 42.4%, 27.1% and 6.8% compared with those of pure PVC, respectively. The dynamic mechanical analysis results indicate that the modified CSW/PVC composite exhibits much higher storage modulus and glass transition temperature than those of unmodified CSW/PVC composite and pure PVC.In addition, the modified CSW/PVC composite also demonstrates good thermal properties with a high rapidest decomposition temperature(Trpd) and char residue. 5Large eddy simulation and proper orthogonal decomposition analysis of turbulent flows in a direct injection spark ignition engine:Cyclic variation and effect of valve lift显示文摘Large eddy simulation(LES)is used to calculate the in-cylinder turbulent flow field in a direct injection spark ignition(DISI)engine.The computations are carried out for three different maximum valve lifts(MVL)and throughout 100 consecutive engine cycles.The simulated results as well as corresponding particle image velocimetry(PIV)measurement database are analyzed by the proper orthogonal decomposition(POD)method.Through a new developed POD quadruple decomposition the instantaneous in-cylinder flow fields are decomposed into four parts,named mean field,coherent field,transition field and turbulent field,respectively.Then the in-cylinder turbulent flow characteristics and cycle-to-cycle variations(CCV)are studied separately upon the four part flow fields.Results indicate that each part exhibits its specific characteristics and has close connection with others.The mean part contains more than 50%of the total kinetic energy and the energy cascade phenomenon occurs among the four part fields;the coherent field part possesses the highest CCV level which dominates CCV of the bulk flow.In addition,it is observed that a change in MVL affects significantly the in-cylinder flow behavior including CCV,especially for the coherent part.Furthermore,the POD analysis demonstrates that at least 25 sample cycles for the mean velocity and 50 sample cycles for the RMS velocity are necessary for obtaining converged and correct results in CCV.QIN WenJin XIE MaoZhao JIA Ming WANG TianYou LIU DaMing 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,3:11

8Effect of spatial scale and topography on spatial heterogeneity of soil seed banks under grazing disturbance in a sandy grassland of Horqin Sand Land, Northern China显示文摘Soil seed banks play an important role in the distribution and composition of plant communities in semiarid grassland ecosystems.However,information on how spatial scale influences the spatial heterogeneity of soil seed banks in a grassland under grazing disturbance is still lacking.Based on field sampling and greenhouse germination,we measured the species composition and seed density of soil seed banks at different spatial scales (30 m×30 m,30 m×60 m and 30 m×90 m)along a topographical gradient in a sandy grassland in Horqin Sand Land, Northern China.By applying geostatistical methods,we examined how spatial scale and topography affected the spatial distribution of soil seed banks in the study area.Our results showed that the total number of species in soil seed banks,as well as the number of dominant annuals,increased with the increase of spatial scales.Seed density in soil seed banks decreased with the increase of spatial scales due to an increase in the slopes and relative heights of the sampling points.Geostatistical analysis showed that the relative structural variance(C/(C0+C))of seed density and species richness were over 65%for all spatial scales,indicating that these variables had an obvious spatial autocorrelation and the spatial structured variance accounted for the largest proportion of the total sample variance.Spatial autocorrelation of seed density in soil seed banks increased with the increase of measured scales,while that of species richness showed a reverse trend.These results suggest that the total number of species in soil seed banks is spatial scale dependent and lower topography may accommodate more seeds.Spatial distribution of seed density in soil seed banks is also scale dependent due to topographic variation.Grassland management,therefore,needs to consider local grazing disturbance regime,spatial scale and topography.XiaoAn ZUO ShaoKun WANG XueYong ZHAO WenJin LI Johannes KNOPS Amy KOCHSlEK 2012Journal of Arid Land2012,4,2:9

10Change in dislocation configuration of deformed Fe-Ni-Nb-Ti-C-B alloy during stress relaxation显示文摘Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was applied to investigate the evolution of dislocation configuration and straininduced precipitation behavior during relaxation process after deformation in Fe-Ni-Nb-Ti-C-B alloy. Experimental results indicatethai the dislocation density is very high and distribute randomly before relaxation. As the relaxation time increasing, dislocation cellswill form gradually by polygonization. The strain induced precipitation retards the progress. 11Dissolving of Nb and Ti carbonitride precipitates in microalloyed steels显示文摘The dissolving behaviour of Nb and Ti carbonitride precipitates in microalloyed steels during isothermal holding at 1300℃ was investigated by Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy dispersion x-ray spectrum (EDX). It was found that all precipitates in Nb-Ti microalloyed steel are (Nb, Ti)(C,N). With holding time increasing, the atomic ratio of Nb/Ti in precipitates decrease gradually. These precipitates still existe even after holding for 48 h at 1300℃ while Nb(C,N) precipitates dissolve away in Nb microalloyed steel only after 4 h at the same temperature. 12Stress-strain behavior of multi-phase high performance structural steel显示文摘A series of ferrite/bainite(F/B) multi-phase steels containing different volume fractions of ferrite were obtained.The effect of soft phase(ferrite) content on the work-hardening behavior of the steel was studied by the finite element simulation with V-BCC model and the modified Crussard-Jaoul(C-J) analysis.It is shown that the multi-phase steels have an excellent anti-deformation ability,such as higher stress ratio(R t1.5 /R t0.5),higher uniform elongation and lower yield to tensile strength ratio.For the F/B multi-phase steels,increasing the proportion of ferrite would help to increase the uniform elongation.However,introducing much more fraction of ferrite would not be helpful to improve the stress ratio of multi-phase steel.The ferrite plastic strain constrained by bainite would be beneficial to increasing the work hardening rate.The optimum proportion of ferrite will result both higher stress ratio and uniform elongation in multi-phase steel.NIE WenJin WANG XueMin WU ShengJie GUAN HaiLong SHANG ChengJia 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,7:8
13HY5-HDA9 Module Transcriptionally Regulates Plant Autophagy in Response to Light-to-Dark Conversion and Nitrogen Starvation显示文摘Light is arguably one of the most important environmental factors that determines virtually all aspects of plant growth and development,but the molecular link between light signaling and the autophagy pathway has not been elucidated in plants.In this study,we demonstrate that autophagy is activated during light-to-dark conversion though transcriptional upregulation of autophagy-related genes(ATGs).We showed that depletion of the ELONGATED HYPOCOTYL 5(HY5),a key component of light signaling,leads to enhanced autophagy activity and resistance to extended darkness and nitrogen starvation treatments,contributing to higher expression oiATGs.HY5 interacts with and recruits HISTONE DEACETYLASE 9(HDA9)to ATG5 and ATG8e loci to repress their expression by deacetylation of the Lys9 and Lys27 of histone 3.Furthermore,we found that both darkness and nitrogen depletion induce the degradation of HY5 via 26S proteasome and the concomitant disassociation of HDA9 from ATG5 and ATG8e loci,leading to their depression and thereby activated autophagy.Genetic analysis further confirmed that HY5 and HDA9 act synergistically and function upstream of the autophagy pathway.Collectively,our study unveils a previously unknown transcriptional and epigenetic network that regulates autophagy in response to light-to-dark conversion and nitrogen starvation in plants.Chao Yang Wenjin Shen Lianming Yang Yun Sun Xibao Li Minyi Lai Juan Wei Chaojun Wang Yingchao Xu Faqiang Li Shan Liang Chengwei Yang Shangwei Zhong Ming Luo Caiji Gao 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,3:8

16Ocean surface wave measurements from fully polarimetric SAR imagery显示文摘A new method for the retrieval of ocean wave parameters from SAR imagery is developed,based on the shape-from-shading(SFS)technique.Previously,the SFS technique has been used in the reconstruction of 3D landform information from SAR images,in order to generate elevation maps of topography for land surfaces.Here,in order to retrieve ocean wave characteristics,we apply the SFS methodology,together with a method to orient the angular measurements of the azimuth slope and range slope,in the measurement of ocean surface waves.This method is applied to high resolution fine-quad polarization mode(HH,VV,VH and HV)C-band RADARSAT-2 SAR imagery,in order to retrieve ocean wave spectra and extract wave parameters.Collocated in situ buoy measurements are used to validate the reliability of this method.Results show that the method can reliably estimate wave height,dominant wave period,dominant wave length and dominant wave direction from C-band SAR images.The advantage of this method is that it does not depend on modulation transfer functions(MTFs),in order to measure ocean surface waves.This method can be used in monitoring ocean surface wave propagation through open water areas into ice-covered areas,especially the marginal ice zone(MIZ)in polar oceans.XIE Tao William PERRIE HE YiJun LI HaiYan FANG He ZHAO ShangZhuo YU WenJin 2015Science China Earth Sciences2015,58,10:6
17Dynamic Hand Gesture Recognition Based on Short-Term Sampling Neural Networks显示文摘Hand gestures are a natural way for human-robot interaction.Vision based dynamic hand gesture recognition has become a hot research topic due to its various applications.This paper presents a novel deep learning network for hand gesture recognition.The network integrates several well-proved modules together to learn both short-term and long-term features from video inputs and meanwhile avoid intensive computation.To learn short-term features,each video input is segmented into a fixed number of frame groups.A frame is randomly selected from each group and represented as an RGB image as well as an optical flow snapshot.These two entities are fused and fed into a convolutional neural network(Conv Net)for feature extraction.The Conv Nets for all groups share parameters.To learn longterm features,outputs from all Conv Nets are fed into a long short-term memory(LSTM)network,by which a final classification result is predicted.The new model has been tested with two popular hand gesture datasets,namely the Jester dataset and Nvidia dataset.Comparing with other models,our model produced very competitive results.The robustness of the new model has also been proved with an augmented dataset with enhanced diversity of hand gestures.Wenjin Zhang Jiacun Wang Fangping Lan 2021IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2021,8,1:5

20Mechanical Properties and Interfacial Interaction of Modified Calcium Sulfate Whisker]Poly(Vinyl Chloride)Composites显示文摘Calcium sulfate whiskers(CSWs) modified with glutaraldehyde-crosslinked poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA) or traditional surface modifiers,including silane coupling agent,titanate coupling agent and stearic acid,were used to strengthen poly(vinyl chloride)(PVC),and the morphologies,mechanical and heat resistant properties of the resulting composites were compared.The results clearly show that glutaraldehyde cross-linked PVA modified CSW/PVC composite(c PVA@CSW/PVC) has the strongest interfacial interaction,good and stable mechanical and heat resistant properties.Nielsen's modified Kerner's equation for Young's modulus is better than other models examined for the CSW/PVC composites.The half debonding angle θ of c PVA@CSW/PVC composite is lower than that of other composites except silane coupling agent modified CSW/PVC composites,indicating a very strong interfacial adhesion between c PVA@CSW and PVC.In general,cross-linked PVA is effective and environmentally friendly in modifying inorganic fillers.Wenjin Yuan Jiayang Cui Shiai Xu 2016Journal of Materials Science & Technology2016,32,12:5
