1Nanoimprint lithography for the manufacturing of flexible electronics显示文摘Flexible electronics have received considerable attention in academies and industries for their promising applications in enormous fields, such as flexible displays, wearable sensors, artificial skins, and flexible energy devices. Challenges remain in developing a flexible and scalable manufacturing method to facilitate the fabrication of multi-functional structures in a flexible electronic system. Nanoimprint lithography is a high resolution and low-cost approach to fabricate nanostructures over a large area. This paper reviews recent progress of nanoimprint lithography and its applications in flexible electronics. The basic principles, classification, research focus, and critical issues of nanoimprint lithography are elaborated. Then, the advantages of nanoimprint lithography are demonstrated in several typical applications related to flexible electronics, including conductive films, optoelectronic devices, flexible sensors, energy harvesting and storage devices, and bioinspired electronic devices. 2An epidermal sEMG tattoo-like patch as a new human–machine interface for patients with loss of voice显示文摘Throat cancer treatment involves surgical removal of the tumor,leaving patients with facial disfigurement as well as temporary or permanent loss of voice.Surface electromyography(sEMG)generated from the jaw contains lots of voice information.However,it is difficult to record because of not only the weakness of the signals but also the steep skin curvature.This paper demonstrates the design of an imperceptible,flexible epidermal sEMG tattoo-like patch with the thickness of less than 10μm and peeling strength of larger than 1N cm−1 that exhibits large adhesiveness to complex biological surfaces and is thus capable of sEMG recording for silent speech recognition.When a tester speaks silently,the patch shows excellent performance in recording the sEMG signals from three muscle channels and recognizing those frequently used instructions with high accuracy by using the wavelet decomposition and pattern recognization.The average accuracy of action instructions can reach up to 89.04%,and the average accuracy of emotion instructions is as high as 92.33%.To demonstrate the functionality of tattoo-like patches as a new human–machine interface(HMI)for patients with loss of voice,the intelligent silent speech recognition,voice synthesis,and virtual interaction have been implemented,which are of great importance in helping these patients communicate with people and make life more enjoyable.Huicong Liu Wei Dong Yunfei Li Fanqi Li Jiangjun Geng Minglu Zhu Tao Chen Hongmiao Zhang Lining Sun Chengkuo Lee 2020Microsystems & Nanoengineering2020,6,1:6
3Characterization of uncultivated magnetotactic bacteria from the sediments of Yuehu Lake, China显示文摘Marine magnetotactic bacteria were collected from the intertidal sediments of Yuehu Lake(China), where their abundance reached 103–104 ind./cm3. Diverse morphotypes of magnetotactic bacteria were observed, including cocci and oval, vibrio-, spirillum-, rod-, elliptical-, handle- and bar-shaped forms. The magnetococci were the most abundant, and had flagella arranged in parallel within a bundle. The majority of magnetosomes were arranged in one, two or multiple chains, although irregular arrangements were also evident. All the results of high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM) analysis show that magnetosome crystals were composed of Fe3O4, and their morphology was specific to particular cell morphotypes. By the 16 S r RNA gene sequence analysis, we found fourteen operational taxonomic units(OTUs) which were related to magnetotactic bacteria. Among these, thirteen belonged to the Alphaproteobacteria and one to the Gammaproteobacteria.Compared with known axenic and uncultured marine magnetotactic bacteria, the 16 S r RNA gene sequences of most magnetotactic bacteria collected from the Yuehu Lake exhibited sequence identities ranging from 90.1% to96.2%(<97%). 4The deubiquitinase OTUD1 inhibits colonic inflammation by suppressing RIPK1-mediated NF-κB signaling显示文摘The E3 ubiquitin ligase(E3)-mediated ubiquitination and deubiquitinase(DUB)-mediated deubiquitination processes are closely associated with the occurrence and development of colonic inflammation.Ovarian tumor deubiquitinase 1(OTUD1)is involved in immunoregulatory functions linked to infectious diseases.However,the effect of OTUD1 on intestinal immune responses during colonic inflammatory disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)remains unclear.Here,we show that loss of OTUD1 in mice contributes to the pathogenesis of dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced colitis via excessive release of proinflammatory cytokines.In addition,bone marrow transplantation experiments revealed that OTUD1 in hematopoietic cells plays a dominant role in protection against colitis.Mechanistically,OTUD1 physically interacts with receptor-interacting serine/threonine-protein kinase 1(RIPK1)and selectively cleaves K63-linked polyubiquitin chains from RIPK1 to inhibit the recruitment of NF-κB essential modulator(NEMO).Moreover,the expression of OTUD1 in mucosa samples from ulcerative colitis(UC)patients was lower than that in mucosa samples from healthy controls.Furthermore,we demonstrate that the UC-associated OTUD1 G430V mutation abolishes the ability of OTUD1 to inhibit RIPK1-mediated NF-κB activation and intestinal inflammation.Taken together,our study unveils a previously unexplored role of OTUD1 in moderating intestinal inflammation by inhibiting RIPK1-mediated NF-κB activation,suggesting that the OTUD1-RIPK1 axis could be a potential target for the treatment of IBD.Bo Wu Lihua Qiang Yong Zhang Yesheng Fu Mengyuan Zhao Zehui Lei Zhe Lu Yan-Ge Wei Hongmiao Dai Yingwei Ge Mingqiu Liu Xuemei Zhou Zhiqiang Peng Hongchang Li Chun-Ping Cui Jing Wang Hui Zheng Cui Hua Liu Lingqiang Zhang 2022Cellular & Molecular Immunology2022,19,2:3
5Investigation on Microcrystalline Wax Doped Asphalts by Temperature Control Mode of Atomic Force Microscopy显示文摘Because of its economical and environmentally friendly characteristics, the warm mix asphalt(WMA) is widely used in pavement engineering. However, the lack of microscopic study of WMA brings difficulties in understanding of its mechanical behavior and mechanisms at macroscopic scale which finally hinders the enhancement of WMA's performance. Therefore, this article aims to use atomic force microscopy(AFM), a promising microscopic technique, to investigate the effects of wax-based warm mix agents on asphalt microstructures and micromechanical properties at different temperatures. For simplicity's sake, microcrystalline waxes are selected as an alternative of these wax-based additives. It is shown that the sample preparation method has a vital impact on the morphology of asphalt samples. The effects of microcrystalline wax on asphalt's mechanical properties can be well captured by AFM tests. Results show that the blending of #70, #80 and #90 microcrystalline waxes lowers the modulus(20—60 MPa) of Pen70 asphalt at 25 ℃ while increasing its adhesion force(5—20 n N). 8Archaeal community structure in sediments from a seamount in the Mariana Volcanic Arc显示文摘Seamounts are subsurface mountains in the ocean. Examination of the abundance and distribution of Archaea in seamount ecosystems may provide a better understanding of their ecological functions. Most studies of marine archaeal assemblages in seamount area have focused on hydrothermal vents or ferromanganese crusts. We investigated the archaeal communities from a seamount of the Mariana Volcanic Arc, in the tropical western Pacific Ocean by using high-throughput sequencing. Thaumarchaeota was dominant in the sediments of all sample stations. Community diversity and species richness were greatest at stations near the top of the seamount, and lowest at the deepest station. One sample station on the steep southeast slope that faced the Yap-Mariana trench had a unique composition of Archaea. In summary, depth has an important influence on archaeal community structure, and the geographic properties and sediment characteristics may explain the unique distribution patterns of Archaea in this seamount. 11Discretely-supported nanoimprint lithography for patterning the high-spatial-frequency stepped surface显示文摘Non-planar morphology is a common feature of devices applied in various physical fields,such as light or fluid,which pose a great challenge for surface nano-patterning to improve their performance.The present study proposes a discretely-supported nanoimprint.lithography(NIL)technique to fabricate nanostructures on the extremely non-planar surface,namely high-spatial-frequency stepped surface.The designed discretely imprinting template implanted a discretely-supported intermediate buffer layer made of sparse pillars arrays.This allowed the simultaneous generation of air-cushion-like buffer and reliable support to the thin structured layer in the template.The resulting low bending stiffness and distributed concentrated load of the template jointly overcome the contact difficulty with a stepped surface,and enable the template to encase the stepped protrusion as tight as possible.Based on the proposed discretely-supported NIL,nanostructures were fabricated on the luminous interface of light emitting diodes chips that covered with micrometer step electrodes pad.About 96%of the utilized indium tin oxide transparent current spreading layer surface on top of the light emitting diode(LED)chips was coated with nanoholes array,with an increase by more than 40%in the optical output power.The excellent ability of nanopatterning a non-planar substrate could potentially lead innovate design and development of high performance device based on discretely-supported NIL.Chunhui Wang Yu Fan Jinyou Shao Zhengjie Yang Jiaxing Sun Hongmiao Tian Xiangming Li 2021Nano Research2021,14,8:1

13Mesenchymal stromal cells alleviate acute respiratory distress syndrome through the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway显示文摘Mesenchymal stromal cells(MSCs)have been considered a promising alternative for treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS).However,there is significant heterogeneity in their therapeutic efficacy,largely owing to the incomplete understanding of the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic activities of MSCs.Here,we hypothesize that the cholinergic antiinflammatory pathway(CAP),which is recognized as a neuroimmunological pathway,may be involved in the therapeutic mechanisms by which MSCs mitigate ARDS.Using lipopolysaccharide(LPS)and bacterial lung inflammation models,we found that inflammatory cell infiltration and Evans blue leakage were reduced and that the expression levels of choline acetyltransferase(ChAT)and vesicular acetylcholine transporter(VAChT)in lung tissue were significantly increased 6 hours after MSC infusion.When the vagus nerve was blocked orα7 nicotinic acetylcholine(ACh)receptor(α7nAChR)-knockout mice were used,the therapeutic effects of MSCs were significantly reduced,suggesting that the CAP may play an important role in the effects of MSCs in ARDS treatment.Our results further showed that MSC-derived prostaglandin E2(PGE2)likely promoted ACh synthesis and release.Additionally,based on the efficacy of nAChR andα7nAChR agonists,we found that lobeline,the nicotinic cholinergic receptor excitation stimulant,may attenuate pulmonary inflammation and alleviate respiratory symptoms of ARDS patients in a clinical study(ChiCTR2100047403).In summary,we reveal a previously unrecognized MSC-mediated mechanism of CAP activation as the means by which MSCs alleviate ARDS-like syndrome,providing insight into the clinical translation of MSCs or CAP-related strategies for the treatment of patients with ARDS.Xiaoran Zhang Xuxia Wei Yiwen Deng Xiaofeng Yuan Jiahao Shi Weijun Huang Jing Huang Xiaoyong Chen Shuwei Zheng Jieying Chen Keyu Chen Ruiming Xu Hongmiao Wang Weiqiang Li Shiyue Li Huimin Yi Andy Peng Xiang 2022Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,10:1

16All-weather,natural silent speech recognition via machine-learning-assisted tattoo-like electronics显示文摘The internal availability of silent speech serves as a translator for people with aphasia and keeps human–machine/human interactions working under various disturbances.This paper develops a silent speech strategy to achieve all-weather,natural interactions.The strategy requires few usage specialized skills like sign language but accurately transfers high-capacity information in complicated and changeable daily environments.In the strategy,the tattoo-like electronics imperceptibly attached on facial skin record high-quality bio-data of various silent speech,and the machine-learning algorithm deployed on the cloud recognizes accurately the silent speech and reduces the weight of the wireless acquisition module.A series of experiments show that the silent speech recognition system(SSRS)can enduringly comply with large deformation(~45%)of faces by virtue of the electricitypreferred tattoo-like electrodes and recognize up to 110 words covering daily vocabularies with a high average accuracy of 92.64%simply by use of small-sample machine learning.We successfully apply the SSRS to 1-day routine life,including daily greeting,running,dining,manipulating industrial robots in deafening noise,and expressing in darkness,which shows great promotion in real-world applications.Youhua Wang Tianyi Tang Yin Xu Yunzhao Bai Lang Yin Guang Li Hongmiao Zhang Huicong Liu YongAn Huang 2021npj Flexible Electronics2021,5,1:1
