Annual report readability and corporate agency costs显示文摘Annual reports are the main sources of information for outside investors' investment decisions and enable shareholders to supervise the management.Difficulties with the readability of these reports may therefore have serious consequences. Using 19,221 firm-year observations of Chinese A-share listed firms from 2001 to 2015, we investigate the association between annual report readability and corporate agency costs, where readability is proxied by report file length and/or file size. We find that firms with better annual report readability experience lower agency costs, and the negative association between readability and agency costs is more pronounced in firms with higher external audit quality, internal control quality or analyst coverage. These results hold after several robustness checks. The positive effect of annual report readability is stronger in private firms than in state-owned enterprises, and becomes stronger after the implementation of new accounting standards in 2007. Readable annual reports can help in monitoring corporate insiders' opportunistic behavior and thus reduce agency costs.Jin-hui Luo Xue Li Huayang Chen 2018China Journal of Accounting Research2018,,3:7
Laboratory model study of newly deposited dredger fills using improved multiple-vacuum preloading technique显示文摘Problems continue to be encountered concerning the traditional vacuum preloading method in field during the treatment of newly deposited dredger fills. In this paper,an improved multiple-vacuum preloading method was developed to consolidate newly dredger fills that are hydraulically placed in seawater for land reclamation in Lingang Industrial Zone of Tianjin City,China. With this multiplevacuum preloading method, the newly deposited dredger fills could be treated effectively by adopting a novel moisture separator and a rapid improvement technique without sand cushion.A series of model tests was conducted in the laboratory for comparing the results from the multiple-vacuum preloading method and the traditional one.Ten piezometers and settlement plates were installed to measure the variations in excess pore water pressures and moisture content, and vane shear strength was measured at different positions. The testing results indicate that water dischargeetime curves obtained by the traditional vacuum preloading method can be divided into three phases:rapid growth phase, slow growth phase, and steady phase.According to the process of fluid flow concentrated along tiny ripples and building of larger channels inside soils during the whole vacuum loading process, the fluctuations of pore water pressure during each loading step are divided into three phases:steady phase, rapid dissipation phase, and slow dissipation phase. An optimal loading pattern which could have a best treatment effect was proposed for calculating the water discharge and pore water pressure of soil using the improved multiple-vacuum preloading method. For the newly deposited dredger fills at Lingang Industrial Zone of Tianjin City, the best loading step was 20 kPa and the loading of 40-50 k Pa produced the highest drainage consolidation. The measured moisture content and vane shear strength were discussed in terms of the effect of reinforcement, both of which indicate that the multiple-vacuum preloading method has a better treatment effect not only in decreasing the moisture content and increasing the bearing capacity, but also in increasing the process uniformity at different depths of foundation.Jingjin Liu Huayang Lei Gang Zheng Haizuo Zhou Xuelian Zhang 2017Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2017,9,5:7

A Study on Spatial Interpolation of Temperature in Anhui Province Based on ANUSPLIN显示文摘To achieve refined temperature grid data with high accuracy and high spatial resolution, hourly temperature grid dataset with spatial resolution of 1 km in Anhui Province from January to December in 2016 was established using the ANUSPLIN thin plate spline algorithm, which meets the needs of climate change research and meteorological disaster risk assessment. And the interpolation error was analyzed. The results show that the interpolated values of hourly temperature by ANUSPLIN are close to the observed values in 2016. The error is generally below 1. 5 ℃,and the root mean square error is 0. 937 6 ℃. On monthly scale, the interpolated values of hourly temperature by ANUSPLIN are also close to the observed values. In October,November,June and May,the interpolation accuracy is the highest, and the proportion of absolute error of hourly temperature lower than 2 ℃ is up to 99%,97. 4%,98. 1% and 97. 4% respectively. In February,March,August and December, the interpolation accuracy is the lowest, and the proportion of absolute error higher than 2 ℃ is 8. 1%,5. 3%,4. 1% and 4. 2% respectively. Due to the effect of complex topography in Anhui, the interpolation accuracy is the lowest in the mountainous areas of southern and western Anhui, and the interpolation error in these regions even exceeds 1. 5 ℃ annually and 1. 8 ℃ monthly.Wen Huayang Chen Fengjiao Li Jun Qiu Kangjun Wang Gen 2019Meteorological and Environmental Research2019,10,2:5
Influencing factors and control measures of excavation on adjacent bridge foundation based on analytic hierarchy process and finite element method显示文摘Many uncertain factors in the excavation process may lead to excessive lateral displacement or overlimited internal force of the piles,as well as inordinate settlement of soil surrounding the existing bridge foundation.Safety control is pivotal to ensuring the safety of adjacent structures. In this paper,an innovative method is proposed that combines an analytic hierarchy process(AHP)with a finite element method(FEM)to reveal the potential impact risk of uncertain factors on the surrounding environment. The AHP was adopted to determine key influencing factors based on the weight of each influencing factor. The FEM was used to quantify the impact of the key influencing factors on the surrounding environment. In terms of the AHP,the index system of uncertain factors was established based on an engineering investigation.A matrix comparing the lower index layer to the upper index layer, and the weight of each influencing factor, were calculated. It was found that the excavation depth and the distance between the foundation pit and the bridge foundation were fundamental factors. For the FEM,the FE baseline model was calibrated based on the case of no bridge surrounding the foundation pit.The consistency between the monitoring data and the numerical simulation data for a ground settlement was analyzed.FE simulations were then conducted to quantitatively analyze the degree of influence of the key influencing factors on the bridge foundation.Furthermore, the lateral displacement of the bridge pile foundation, the internal force of the piles, and the settlement of the soil surrounding the pile foundation were emphatically analyzed. The most hazardous construction condition was also determined. Finally, two safety control measures for increasing the numbers of support levels and the rooted depths of the enclosure structure were suggested.A novel method for combining AHP with FEM can be used to determine the key influencing aspects among many uncertain factors during a construction, which can provide some beneficial references for engineering design and construction.Shuangxi FENG Huayang LEI Yongfeng WAN Haiyan JIN Jun HAN 2021Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2021,15,2:5
Subsidence control method by inversely-inclined slicing and upward mining for ultra-thick steep seams显示文摘Ultra-thick steep coal seam mining will inevitably lead to the increase of greater and violent ground subsidence and deformation.A subsidence control method by inversely-inclined slicing and upward mining is proposed in this paper.By this method, the sequence of collapse of overlying strata and the direction of propagation of strata movement are changed, the extent of roof-side deformation thereby is lessened, and boundary angle of roof-side subsidence is reduced by 5°-10°.The mechanism of this mining method for control of strata movement has been evidenced by numerical simulation and experiments with similarity materials.A subsidence prediction model based on the variation of mining influence propagation angle can be used to evaluate the surface movement and deformation of the mining method. The application of the method in No.3 Mine in Yaojie mining area has yielded the expected result.Huayang Dai Peng Li Nurpeissova Marzhan Yueguan Yan Chongliang Yuan Tursbekov Serik Junting Guo Yryszhan Zhakypbek Konbay Seituly 2022International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2022,32,1:4

Impacts of human interventions on the seasonal and nodal dynamics of the M_(2)and K_(1)tidal constituents in Lingdingyang Bay of the Zhujiang River Delta,China显示文摘Natural and human-induced changes may exert considerable impacts on the seasonal and nodal dynamics of M2 and K1 tidal constituents. Therefore, quantifying the influences of these factors on tidal regime changes is essential for sustainable water resources management in coastal environments. In this study, the enhanced harmonic analysis was applied to extract the seasonal variability of the M2 and K1 tidal amplitudes and phases at three gauging stations along Lingdingyang Bay of the Zhujiang River Delta. The seasonal dynamics in terms of tidal wave celerity and amplification/damping rate were used to quantify the impacts of human-induced estuarine morphological alterations on M2 and K1 tidal hydrodynamics in inner and outer Lingdingyang Bay.The results show that both tidal amplification/damping rate and wave celerity were considerably increased from the pre-anthropogenic activity period(Pre-AAP)to the post-anthropogenic activity period(Post-AAP)excepting the tidal amplification/damping rate in outer Lingdingyang Bay,and the variations in outer Lingdingyang Bay was larger than those in inner Lingdingyang Bay.The alterations in these two parameters were more significant in flood season than in dry season in both inner and outer Lingdingyang Bay.The seasonal variability of M2 and K1 tidal amplitudes were further quantified using a regression model accounting for the 18.61-year lunar nodal modulation, where this study observes a considerable alteration in M2 constituent owing to human interventions.During the Post-AAP,the M2 amplitudes at the downstream station were larger than those that would have occurred in the absence of strong human interventions, whereas the opposite was true for the upstream station, leading to a substantial decrease in tidal amplification in outer Lingdingyang Bay.However,it is opposite in inner Lingdingyang Bay.The underlying mechanism can be primarily attributed to channel deepening and narrowing caused by human interventions, that resulted in substantial enlargement of the bay volume and reduced the effective bottom friction, leading to faster wave celerity and stronger amplified waves.Ping Zhang Qingshu Yang Haidong Pan Heng Wang Meifang Xie Huayang Cai Nanyang Chu Liangwen Jia 2021Acta Oceanologica Sinica2021,40,10:2
Friction and Wear Characteristics of Brush Plating Ni/nano-Al2O3 Composite Coating under Sand-Containing Oil显示文摘Ni-matrix composite coating containing Al2O3 nano-particles is prepared by brush plating. The effects of the nanoparticles on the microstructure, microhardness and tribological properties of the composite coating under the lubrication of a diesel oil containing sand are investigated. The results show that the microstructure of the composite coating is finer than that of the pure nickel coating due to the codeposition of the nano-particles. When the nano-particle concentration in the electroplating bath reaches 20 g/L, the microhardness, and wear resistance of the composite coating is as much as 1.6 times and 1.3~2.5 times of those of the pure nickel coating respectively. The main hardening mechanism of the composite coating is superfine crystal grain strengthening and dispersion strengthening. The composite coating is characterized by scuffing as it slides against Si3N4 under the present test conditions.LingzhongDU BinshiXU ShiyunDONG XinLI HuaYang WeiyiTU ZixinZHU 2005Journal of Materials Science & Technology2005,21,1:2
Model test and discrete element method simulation of shield tunneling face stability in transparent clay显示文摘The stability of the shield tunneling face is an extremely important factor affecting the safety of tunnel construction. In this study,a transparent clay with properties similar to those of Tianjin clay is prepared and a new transparent clay model test apparatus is developed to overcome the“black box”problem in the traditional model test. The stability of the shield tunneling face(failure mode, influence range, support force, and surface settlement)is investigated in transparent clay under active failure.A series of transparent clay model tests is performed to investigate the active failure mode, influence range, and support force of the shield tunneling face under different burial depth conditions, whereas particle flow code three-dimensional numerical simulations are conducted to verify the failure mode of the shield tunneling face and surface settlement along the transverse section under different burial depth conditions. The results show that the engineering characteristics of transparent clay are similar to those of soft clay in Binhai,Tianjin and satisfy visibility requirements. Two types of failure modes are obtained:the overall failure mode(cover/diameter:C/D£1.0)and local failure mode(C/D≥2.0).The influence range of the transverse section is wider than that of the longitudinal section when C/D≥2.0.Additionally,the normalized thresholds of the relative displacement and support force ratio are 3%-6%and 0.2-0.4,respectively.Owing to the cushioning effect of the clay layer, the surface settlement is significantly reduced as the tunnel burial depth increases.Huayang LEI Yajie ZHANG Yao HU Yingnan LIU 2021Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2021,15,1:2
Experimental Analysis of Microscale Laser Shock Processing on Metallic Material Using Excimer Laser显示文摘Microscale laser shock processing (μLSP), also known as laser shock processing in microscale, is a technique that uses microscale focused laser beam to induce high pressure plasma and generates plastic deformation and compressive residual stress in target materials, thus improves fatigue or stress corrosion cracking resistance of MEMS (Micro Electromechanical Systems) devices made of such a material. Many works have been reported about the research and experiment for μLSP. But the diameters of 50–200 μm were used at the first time for this field, which was useful for treating micro-device components with larger area and curved surface. The excimer laser was used firstly on μLSP for shorter wavelength than that of used in previous researches. The determination method of laser spot size at micro-level spatial resolution was presented. Under these conditions, plastic deformation, the stress analysis and microhardness with different pulse number, pulse energy and pulse spacing were investigated. Especially the residual stress distribution with depth treated by μLSP, was first investigated. Experiment results showed that the material performance was improved remarkably after μLSP.Zhigang Che Liangcai Xiong Tielin Shi Huayang Cheng Likun Yang 2009Journal of Materials Science & Technology2009,25,6:2
Assessing the deformation response of double-track overlapped tunnels using numerical simulation and field monitoring显示文摘The unprecedented rate of metro construction has led to a highly complex network of metro lines.Tunnels are being overlapped to an ever-increasing degree. This paper investigates the deformation response of double-track overlapped tunnels in Tianjin,China using finite element analysis(FEA)and field monitoring, considering the attributes of different tunneling forms. With respect to the upper tunneling, the results of the FEA and field monitoring showed that the maximum vertical displacements of the ground surface during the tail passage were 2.06 mm,2.25 mm and 2.39 mm obtained by the FEA,field monitoring and Peck calculation, respectively;the heaves on the vertical displacement curve were observed at 8 m(1.25D,where D is the diameter of the tunnel)away from the center of the tunnel and the curve at both sides was asymmetrical.Furthermore, the crown and bottom produce approximately0.38 mm and 1.26 mm of contraction, respectively. The results of the FEA of the upper and lower sections demonstrated that the tunneling form has an obvious influence on the deformation response of the double-track overlapped tunnel.Compared with the upper tunneling, the lower tunneling exerted significantly less influence on the deformation response, which manifested as a smaller displacement of the strata and deformation of the existing tunnel. The results of this study on overlapped tunnels can provide a reference for similar projects in the future.Yao Hu Huayang Lei Gang Zheng Liang Shi Tianqi Zhang Zhichao Shen Rui Jia 2022Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2022,14,2:2
