| 1 | A late Mesozoic high plateau in eastern China:Evidence from basalt vesicular paleoaltimetry显示文摘Eastern China is made of a number of large and small continental fragments throughout late Paleozoic and Mesozoic time,and is still the best natural laboratory for examining kinematic models of continent tectonics.The paleoelevation history of eastern China provides direct insight into the tectonic processes in China.Here we present basalt-vesicularity based estimates of the paleoaltimetry of the early Cretaceous basalts in northern East China,which indicate that the studied basalt units were at an elevation of more than 4 kilometers in late Mesozoic.Two vesicular basaltic rocks have been collected form bottom to top along the lava flow outcrop in eastern Inner Mongolia.After the digital precessing to the sample cross-sections,and taking advantage of the stereological conversion method to acquire the bubble size distributions,paleoelevation estimate was calculated for East China in the early Cretaceous.The results show that the elevation has been near 4700±750 m when the lava flows was cooling,implying that there were highland regions in the northern part of the East China Plateau during the early Cretaceous.Combined with other geological evidence,we conclude that there was a high plateau with elevation near 5000 m above sea level in Eastern China during the late Mesozoic.This ancient high plateau in eastern China was most likely formed by the collision of the north and south China blocks. | XIA GuoQing YI HaiSheng ZHAO XiXi GONG DaXing JI ChangJun | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,21: | 9 |

| 3 | Concept of the solar ring mission:An overview显示文摘The concept of the Solar Ring mission was gradually formed from L5/L4 mission concept, and the proposal of its pre-phase study was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China in November 2018 and then by the Strategic Priority Program of Chinese Academy of Sciences in space sciences in May 2019. Solar Ring mission will be the first attempt to routinely monitor and study the Sun and inner heliosphere from a full 360-degree perspective in the ecliptic plane. The current preliminary design of the Solar Ring mission is to deploy six spacecraft, grouped in three pairs, on a sub-AU orbit around the Sun. The two spacecraft in each group are separated by about 30?and every two groups by about 120?. This configuration with necessary science payloads will allow us to establish three unprecedented capabilities:(1) determine the photospheric vector magnetic field with unambiguity,(2) provide 360-degree maps of the Sun and the inner heliosphere routinely, and(3) resolve the solar wind structures at multiple scales and multiple longitudes. With these capabilities, the Solar Ring mission aims to address the origin of solar cycle, the origin of solar eruptions, the origin of solar wind structures and the origin of severe space weather events. | 4 | Recent advances in solar storm studies in China显示文摘'Solar storm' has been commonly accepted by academic community and the public as a very popular scientific term. It is avivid description of violent ejections of a huge amount of magnetized plasma from the Sun as strong flare/CMEs, which sweepover into interplanetary space, develop, and affect our space environment. The solar storm could bring us disastrous spaceweather, destroy crucial technology, and cause a large-scale blackout. It is one of the natural disasters faced by modern humanbeings. Here we first briefly summarize the observational features of solar storms and introduce some key issues, and then wefocus on major advances in observational studies. We mainly introduce the efforts made by the Chinese scientists and comment on the challenges and opportunities that they are facing. | 5 | The calibration and initial results of the HeI D3 line flash spectrum obtained during the 2008 total solar eclipse显示文摘The flash spectra in the HeI D3 line were obtained during the 2008 total solar eclipse. This paper describes the instrument and the calibration of the obtained flash spectrum, and presents our initial results. The average integrated intensity is Eave = 8.13×1013 erg·cm-1· s-1·ster-1 at h = 1100 km, which confirms that the HeI D3 emission is negatively correlated with the solar activity. | 6 | Protective effect of Tongdu Tiaoshen acupuncture combined with Xiaoxuming decoction(小续命汤)on dopaminergic neurons in Parkinson’s disease model显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To explore the possible mechanism of Tongdu Tiaoshen acupuncture combined with Xiaoxuming decoction(小续命汤,XXMD)in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease(PD).METHODS:C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into eight groups(n=12),including blank group,model group,medication group,acupuncture group,high-dose XXMD group(XXMD-H),low-dose XXMD group(XXMD-L),acupuncture combined with high-dose XXMD group(A+H),and acupuncture combined with low-dose XXMD group(A+L).After treatment for 6 weeks,dopamine(DA)neurons and the pathological changes of tyrosine hydroxylase(TH)positive cells were observed.The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)was used to measure the content of DA and the level of interleukin-1β(IL-1β),interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-10(IL-10)and tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α).The m RNA level of PINK1 and Parkin and the protein expression of Nix,PINK1 and Parkin in the substantia nigra were also detected.RESULTS:Combination treatment effectively ameliorated the symptoms of PD.Compared with model group,combined treatment significantly up-regulated the protein expression of Nix,Parkin and PINK1 and the m RNA levels of PINK1 and Parkin in the substantia nigra(P<0.0001,P<0.001,P<0.01 or P<0.05).Furthermore,the levels of pro-inflammation cytokines were obviously decreased after combination therapy,while IL-10 content was increased remarkably(P<0.01).CONCLUSION:Compared with each treatment alone,combination therapy improved the pathological damage of DA neurons of PD mice more effectively.The possible mechanism may be attributed to the up-regulated level of mitochondrial autophagy and improved mitochondrial function.These results provide fresh insight into the mechanism of co-treatment with Tongdu Tiaoshen acupuncture and XXMD for PD. | WU Haiyang WANG Ying HAN Wei LI Huihui JI Haisheng LIU Xiuxiu | 2023 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2023,43,3: | 2 |

| 10 | Interannual Variations of Phytoplankton, Zooplankton and Chlorophyll a in the Arctic Seas and Their Relations to ENSO and AO显示文摘To study effects of variations in climate-marine environment in the Arctic Ocean on ecology,based on the actual and reestablished data by biomarkers of algae in sediment in 1997,1999,2003,2008,and 2010,the interannual and spatial variations of phytoplankton,zooplankton and chlorophyll a concentration in the Chukchi Sea and the Bering Sea as well as their relations to El Nino-Southern Oscillation( ENSO) and Arctic Oscillation( AO) were analyzed. The results show that there were spatial and temporal anomalies in the phytoplankton community structure reestablished by biomarkers of algae in the Chukchi Sea and the Bering Sea in 1999 and 2010. The total content of biomarkers( brassicasterol,dinosterol,C37 alkenones and chlesterol) in sediment collected in 2010 was far lower than that in 1999,but brassicasterol was dominant in the two years,that is,diatom was dominant,which was consistent with the actual structure and distribution of phytoplankton community in 1999 and 2010; there were great changes in the dominant species of plankton in the two seas in 1999 and 2010,which could be regarded as the ecological response of the North Pole under the background of global warming. Chlorophyll a concentration in the water of the Bering Sea was 0. 720 μg/dm^3 at 0 m and 0. 765μg/dm^3 at 10 m in 1997 and 0. 723 μg/dm^3 at 0 m and 0. 731 μg/dm^3 at 10 m in 2003,and the concentration was very close to each other,which was affected by El Ni1 o and the negative phase of AO. It was 0. 395 μg/dm^3 at 0 m in 1999 and 0. 399 μg/dm^3 at 0 m and 0. 357 μg/dm^3 at 10 m in 2008,which was influenced by La Ni1 a and the positive phase of AO. The phases and intensity of AO and ENSO had various effects on the quantity and dominant species of phytoplankton and zooplankton in the Chukchi Sea and the Bering Sea. During the period of AO with positive or negative phase and El Ni1o( in 1997 and 2003),their combination was favorable to the growth of phytoplankton and zooplankton,while the combination of negative phase of AO and La Nina( in 2010) had adverse effects on the growth of phytoplankton. | 11 | Variations of calcareous nannofossils of cobalt-rich crusts and geological records at the Eocene-OIigocene transition in western Pacific seamounts显示文摘Two records of the crust laminae from the Marcus-Wake Seamounts and the Magellan Seamount were biostratigraphically studied. Based on biological imprints of the calcareous nannofossils, the geological ages of the two records were determined, with CM1D03 from the Marcus-Wake Seamounts being of late Paleocene to Pleistocene and CM3D06 from the Magellan Seamount of Late Cretaceous(more than 70.0 Ma). There are the obvious temporal-spatial differences in the initial formation period and enrichment characteristics of the cobalt-rich crusts of the two seamount chains and differences in the combination and distribution of microfossils in the inner crust layers between the seamounts. These differences are due to the adaptabilities of oceanic species in different environments. Ecological research was carried out in terms of population size of the calcareous nannofossils preserved in the crustal layers to discern the relation of the geological events at the Eocene-Oligocene(E/O) transition. The results show the transitions and recombination of species in the biotic community during the E/O transition obviously corresponded to 25 mm depth in the CM1D03 crust and 58 mm depth in the CM3D06 crust. | 15 | Near-infrared fluorophores with absolute aggregation-caused quenching and negligible fluorescence re-illumination for in vivo bioimaging of nanocarriers显示文摘Environment-responsive fluorophores with aggregation-caused quenching(ACQ)properties have been applied to track nanocarriers with reduced artefacts caused by unbound or free fluorophores but suffer from incomplete fluorescence quenching and significant re-illumination,which undermine bioimaging accuracy.Herein,through structural modifications to reinforce the hydrophobicity,planarity and rigidity of fluorophores with an aza-BODIPY framework,probes featuring absolute ACQ(aACQ)and negligible re-illumination are developed and evaluated in various nanocarriers.aACQ probes,FD-B21 and FD-C7,exhibit near-infrared emission,high quantum yield,photostability,water sensitivity,and negligible re-illumination in blood,plasma and 1%Tween-80 in contrast to ACQ probe P2 and conventional probe DiR.All nanocarriers can be labeled efficiently by the tested fluorophores.Polymeric micelles(PMs)labeled by different aACQ probes manifest similar biodistribution patterns,which however differ from that of DiR-labeled PMs and could be ascribed to the appreciable re-illumination of DiR.Significantly lower re-illumination is also found in aACQ probes(2%-3%)than DiR(20%-40%)in Caco-2,Hela,and Raw264.7 cells.Molecular dynamics simulations unravel the molecular mechanisms behind aggregation and re-illumination,supporting the hypothesis of planarity dependency.It is concluded that aACQ fluorophores demonstrate excellent water sensitivity and negligible fluorescence re-illumination,making themselves useful tools for more accurate bioimaging of nanocarriers. | Yifan Cai Xin Ji Yunsen Zhang Chang Liu Zichen Zhang Yongjiu Lv Xiaochun Dong Haisheng He Jianping Qi Yi Lu Defang Ouyang Weili Zhao Wei Wu | 2023 | Aggregate2023,4,2: | 0 |

| 18 | Magneto-acoustic oscillations observed in a solar plage region显示文摘We gave an extensive study for the quasi-periodic perturbations on the time profiles of the line of sight(LOS) magnetic field in 10 × 10 sub-areas in a solar plage region(corresponds to a facula on the photosphere).The perturbations are found to be associated with the enhancement of He I 10830 A absorption in a moss region,which is connected to loops with million-degree plasma.FFT analysis to the perturbations gives a kind of spectrum similar to that of Doppler velocity:a number of discrete periods around 5 minutes.The amplitudes of the magnetic perturbations are found to be proportional to magnetic field strength over these sub-areas.In addition,magnetic perturbations lag behind a quarter of the cycle in the phase with respect to the p-mode Doppler velocity.We show that the relationships can be well explained with an MHD solution for the magneto-acoustic oscillations in high-β plasma.Observational analysis also shows that,for the two regions with the stronger and weaker magnetic field,the perturbations are always anti-phased.All findings show that the magnetic perturbations are actually magneto-acoustic oscillations on the solar surface,the photosphere,powered by p-mode oscillations.The findings may provide a new diagnostic tool for exploring the relationship between magneto-acoustic oscillations and the heating of the solar upper atmosphere,as well as their role in helioseismology. | Haisheng Ji Parida Hashim Zhenxiang Hong Zhe Xu Jinhua Shen Kaifan Ji Wenda Cao | 2021 | Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2021,21,7: | 0 |
| 19 | The Precursor Phase of an X-class Flare: Magnetic Reconnection, Powering and Non-thermal Electrons显示文摘In this paper,we report three interesting phenomena that occurred during the precursor phase of the X1.6 class flare on 2014 September 10.(1) The magnetic reconnection initiating the flare occurs between one of the two J-shaped magnetic flux ropes that constitute a sigmoidal structure and the overlying sheared magnetic arcade that runs across the sigmoid over its middle part.The reconnection formed an erupting structure that ultimately leads to flare onset.Another J-shaped magnetic flux rope remains unaffected during the whole eruption.The phenomenon is revealed by the observation made by the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly on board the Solar Dynamic Observatory(SDO)at 94 and 131 A.(2) Being simultaneously with starting time of the precursor,photospheric vertical electric current(VEC) around the footpoint region of the overlying magnetic arcade underwent an obvious increase,as observed by the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager(HMI) on board SDO.By only taking into account the VEC with current density over 3σ value(1σ:10 mA m^(-2)),we are able to pick out precursor-associated VEC increase starting from nearly the level of zero.We regard it as a kind of powering process for the magnetic reconnection between the two magnetic loops.(3) With high-resolution narrow-band Helium 10830 A images taken by Goode Solar Telescope at Big Bear Solar Observatory(BBSO),we observe a narrow absorption(dark) front that runs along the erupting magnetic structure(or the erupting hot channel) and moves in the direction of the eruption during the precursor phase.Assuming the excitation mechanism of Helium atoms along the absorption front by non-thermal electrons,the phenomenon shows that the interaction between the erupted hot channel and the overlying(or surrounding)magnetic field has yielded electron acceleration. | Jinhua Shen Haisheng Ji Yingna Su | 2022 | Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2022,22,1: | 0 |
