2How cat lands: insights into contribution of the forelimbs and hindlimbs to attenuating impact force显示文摘To safely land after different drops, cats can perfectly use their limbs as dampers to dissipate impact forces. Yet, we know little about the contribution of the forelimbs and hindlimbs of cats to attenuating the impact forces during landing. In order to investigate this, we analyzed the landing impulses and energy absorption based on the ground reaction forces and high-speed video recordings of cats performing self-initiated jump downs at different heights. Our results show that the distribution of impact forces between forelimbs and hindlimbs exhibits a landing height-dependent manner. Furthermore, combining the experimental measurements and the inverted pendulum-spring model, we find that variation in landing angle is correlated with the distribution manner. This posturedependent actuation allows the animal to tune the distribution of energy absorption between forelimbs and hindlimbs. 4Dispersion stability of thermal nanofluids显示文摘Thermal nanofluids, the engineered fluids with dispersed functional nanoparticles, have exhibited extraordinary thermophysical properties and added functionalities, and thus have enabled a broad range of important applications. The poor dispersion stability of thermal nanofluids, however, has been considered as a longexisting issue that limits their further development and practical application. This review overviews the recent efforts and progresses in improving the dispersion stability of thermal nanofluids such as mechanistic understanding of dispersion behavior of nanofluids, examples of both water-based and oil-based nanofluids,strategies to stabilize nanofluids, and characterization techniques for dispersion behavior of nanofluids. 5Enhanced tumor homing of pathogen-mimicking liposomes driven by R848 stimulation: A new platform for synergistic oncology therapy显示文摘Although multifarious tumor-targeting modifications of nanoparticulate systems have been attempted in joint efforts by our predecessors,it remains challenging for nanomedicine to traverse physiological barriers involving blood vessels,tissues,and cell barriers to thereafter demonstrate excellent antitumor effects.To further overcome these inherent obstacles,we designed and prepared mycoplasma membrane(MM)-fused liposomes(LPs)with the goal of employing circulating neutrophils with the advantage of inflammatory cytokine-guided autonomous tumor localization to transport nanoparticles.We also utilized in vivo neutrophil activation induced by the liposomal form of the immune activator resiquimod(LPsR848).Fused LPs preparations retained mycoplasma pathogen characteristics and achieved rapid recognition and endocytosis by activated neutrophils stimulated by LPs-R848.The enhanced neutrophil infiltration in homing of the inflammatory tumor microenvironment allowed more nanoparticles to be delivered into solid tumors.Facilitated by the formation of neutrophil extracellular traps(NETs),podophyllotoxin(POD)-loaded MM-fused LPs(MM-LPs-POD)were concomitantly released from neutrophils and subsequently engulfed by tumor cells during inflammation.MM-LPs-POD displayed superior suppression efficacy of tumor growth and lung metastasis in a 4T1 breast tumor model.Overall,such a strategy of pathogen-mimicking nanoparticles hijacking neutrophils in situ combined with enhanced neutrophil infiltration indeed elevates the potential of chemotherapeutics for tumor targeting therapy.Xiaobei Cheng Pei Yu Xiang Zhou Jiale Zhu Yubao Han Chao Zhang Lingyi Kong 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,2:2

7Variable elliptical vibrating screen: Particles kinematics and industrial application显示文摘Traditional vibrating screen usually adopts the linear centralized excitation mode,which causes the difficulty in particles loosening and low screening efficiency.The variable elliptical vibrating screen(VEVS)trajectory is regulated to adapt the material mass along the direction of the screen length,improving the particles distribution as well as the screening efficiency.In this work,a theoretical model was developed for analyzing the screen surface motion law during VEVS-based screening process.An equation was obtained to show the relationship between the horizontal amplitude and the vertical amplitude.The materials kinetic characteristics were studied by using high-speed camera during screening process.Compared with equal-amplitude screen(EAS),the material moving velocity was increased by 13.03%on the first half but decreased by 3.52% on the second half,and the total screening time was reduced by 9.42% by using VEVS.In addition,-6 mm screening test was carried out.At the length of VEVS equaled to 1.2 m,the screening efficiency and the total misplaced material content were 92.50% and 2.90%,respectively.However,the screening efficiency was 89.91% and the total misplaced material content was 3.76% during EAS-based screening process.Furthermore,when external moisture is 5.96%,the screening efficiency of VEVS could reach 86.95%.The 2 TKB50113 type VEVS with double-layered screen surface used in Huoshizui Coal Mine was 5.0 m in width and 11.3 m in length.The areas of single layer and double layer were 56.5 and 113 m~2,respectively.In industrial production,the processing capacity was 2500-3000 t/h and the screening efficiency was larger than 90%.Chenlong Duan Jiale Yuan Miao Pan Tao Huang Haishen Jiang Yuemin Zhao Jinpeng Qiao Weinan Wang Shijie Yu Jiawang Lu 2021International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2021,31,6:2

11Quantified assessment of deep brain stimulation on Parkinson’s patients with task fNIRS measurements and functional connectivity analysis:a pilot study显示文摘Background:Deep brain stimulation(DBS)has proved effective for Parkinson’s disease(PD),but the identification of stimulation parameters relies on doctors’subjective judgment on patient behavior.Methods:Five PD patients performed 10-meter walking tasks under different brain stimulation frequencies.During walking tests,a wearable functional near-infrared spectroscopy(fNIRS)system was used to measure the concentration change of oxygenated hemoglobin(ΔHbO_(2))in prefrontal cortex,parietal lobe and occipital lobe.Brain functional connectivity and global efficiency were calculated to quantify the brain activities.Results:We discovered that both the global and regional brain efficiency of all patients varied with stimulation parameters,and the DBS pattern enabling the highest brain efficiency was optimal for each patient,in accordance with the clinical assessments and DBS treatment decision made by the doctors.Conclusions:Task fNIRS assessments and brain functional connectivity analysis promise a quantified and objective solution for patient-specific optimization of DBS treatment.Trial registration:Name:Accurate treatment under the multidisciplinary cooperative diagnosis and treatment model of Parkinson’s disease.Registration number is ChiCTR1900022715.Date of registration is April 23,2019.Ningbo Yu Siquan Liang Jiewei Lu Zhilin Shu Haitao Li Yang Yu Jialing Wu Jianda Han 2021Chinese Neurosurgical Journal2021,7,3:1

13A new landing impact attenuation seat in manned spacecraft biologically-inspired by felids显示文摘When manned spacecraft comes back to the earth, it relies on the impact attenuation seat to protect astronauts from injuries during landing phase. Hence, the seat needs to transfer impact load, as small as possible, to the crew. However, there is little room left for traditional seat to improve further. Herein, a new seat system biologically-inspired by felids' landing is proposed.Firstly, a series of experiments was carried out on cats and tigers, in which they were trained to jump down voluntarily from different heights. Based on the ground reaction forces combined with kinematics, the experiment indicated that felids' landing after self-initial jump was a multi-step impact attenuation process and the new seat was inspired by this. Then the construction and work process of new seat were redesigned to realize the multi-step impact attenuation. The dynamic response of traditional and new seat is analyzed under the identical conditions and the results show that the new concept seat can significantly weaken the occupant overload in two directions compared with that of traditional seat. 17VPFL:A verifiable privacy-preserving federated learning scheme for edge computing systems显示文摘Federated learning for edge computing is a promising solution in the data booming era,which leverages the computation ability of each edge device to train local models and only shares the model gradients to the central server.However,the frequently transmitted local gradients could also leak the participants’private data.To protect the privacy of local training data,lots of cryptographic-based Privacy-Preserving Federated Learning(PPFL)schemes have been proposed.However,due to the constrained resource nature of mobile devices and complex cryptographic operations,traditional PPFL schemes fail to provide efficient data confidentiality and lightweight integrity verification simultaneously.To tackle this problem,we propose a Verifiable Privacypreserving Federated Learning scheme(VPFL)for edge computing systems to prevent local gradients from leaking over the transmission stage.Firstly,we combine the Distributed Selective Stochastic Gradient Descent(DSSGD)method with Paillier homomorphic cryptosystem to achieve the distributed encryption functionality,so as to reduce the computation cost of the complex cryptosystem.Secondly,we further present an online/offline signature method to realize the lightweight gradients integrity verification,where the offline part can be securely outsourced to the edge server.Comprehensive security analysis demonstrates the proposed VPFL can achieve data confidentiality,authentication,and integrity.At last,we evaluate both communication overhead and computation cost of the proposed VPFL scheme,the experimental results have shown VPFL has low computation costs and communication overheads while maintaining high training accuracy.Jiale Zhang Yue Liu Di Wu Shuai Lou Bing Chen Shui Yu 2023Digital Communications and Networks2023,9,4:1

19Shen Qi Wan attenuates renal interstitial fibrosis through upregulating AQP1显示文摘Renal interstitial fibrosis(RIF)is the crucial pathway in chronic kidney disease(CKD)leading to the end-stage renal failure.However,the underlying mechanism of Shen Qi Wan(SQW)on RIF is not fully understood.In the current study,we investigated the role of Aquaporin 1(AQP1)in SQW on tubular epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition(EMT).A RIF mouse model induced by adenine and a TGF-β1-stimulated HK-2 cell model were etablished to explore the involvement of AQP 1 in the protective effect of SQW on EMT in vitro and in vivo.Subsequently,the molecular mechanism of SQW on EMT was explored in HK-2 cells with AQP1 knockdown.The results indicated that SQW alleviated kidney injury and renal collagen deposition in the kidneys of mice induced by adenine,increased the protein expression of E-cadherin and AQP1 expression,and decreased the expression of vimentin andα-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA).Similarly,treatmement with SQW-containing serum significantly halted EMT process in TGF-β1 stimulated HK-2 cells.The expression of snail and slug was significantly upregulated in HK-2 cells after knockdown of AQP1.AQP1 knockdown also increased the mRNA expression of vimentin andα-SMA,and decreased the expression of E-cadherin.The protein expression of vimentin increased,while the expression of E-cadherin and CK-18 significantly decreased after AQP1 knockdown in HK-2 cells.These results revealed that AQP1 knockdown promoted EMT.Furthermore,AQP1 knockdown abolished the protective effect of SQW-containing serum on EMT in HK-2 cells.In sum,SQW attentuates EMT process in RIF through upregulation of the expression of AQP1.LIN Yiyou WEI Jiale ZHANG Yehui HUANG Junhao WANG Sichen LUO Qihan YU Hongxia JI Liting ZHOU Xiaojie LI Changyu 2023Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2023,21,5:1
