1Dissection of genetic overlap of salt tolerance QTLs at the seedling and tillering stages using backcross introgression lines in rice显示文摘QTLs for salt-tolerance(ST)related traits at the seedling and tillering stages were identified using 99 BC2F8 introgression lines(IL)derived from a cross between IR64(indica)as a recurrent parent and Binam(japonica)from Iran as the donor parent.Thirteen QTLs affecting survival days of seedlings(SDS), score of salt toxicity of leaves(SST),shoot K + concentration(SKC)and shoot Na + concentration(SNC) at the seedling stage and 22 QTLs underlying fresh weight of shoots(FW),tiller number per plant(TN) and plant height(PH)at the tillering stage were identified.Most QTLs detected at the tillering stage showed obvious differential expression to salt stress and were classified into three types based on their differential behaviors.Type I included 11 QTLs which were expressed only under the non-stress condition.Type II included five QTLs expressed in the control and the salt stress conditions,and three of them(QPh5,QPh8 and QTn9)had similar quantity and the same direction of gene effect,suggesting their expression was less influenced by salt stress.Type III included six QTLs which were detectable only under salt stress,suggesting that these QTLs were apparently induced by the stress.Thirteen QTLs affecting trait difference or trait stability of ILs between the stress and non-stress conditions were identified and the Binam alleles at all loci except QPh4,QTn2 and QFw2a decreased trait difference.The three QTLs less influenced by the stress and 13 QTLs affecting trait stability were considered as ST QTLs which contributed to ST.Comparing the distribution of QTLs detected at the seedling and tillering stages,most(69%)of them were genetically independent.Only four were the same or adjacent regions on chromosomes 1,2,8 and 11 harboring ST QTLs detected at the two stages,suggesting that partial genetic overlap of ST across the two stages occurs.It is likely,therefore,to develop ST rice variety for both stages by pyramiding of ST QTLs of different stages or selection against the overlapping QTLs between the two stages via marker-assisted selection(MAS).ZANG JinPing 1 ,SUN Yong 1 ,WANG Yun 1 ,YANG Jing 1 ,LI Fang 1 ,ZHOU YongLi 1 ,ZHU LingHua 1 , Reys JESSICA2,Fotokian MOHAMMADHOSEIN 2,XU JianLong 1&LI ZhiKang 1,2 1Institute of Crop Sciences/National Key Facility for Crop Gene Resources&Genetic Improvement,Chinese Academy of Agricul- tural Sciences,Beijing 100081,China 2International Rice Research Institute,DAPO Box 7777,Metro Manila,Philippines 2008Science China(Life Sciences)2008,51,7:32
2Removal of nitrate from groundwater by heterotrophic denitrification using the solid carbon source显示文摘Removal of nitrate from groundwater was investigated using biodegradable meal box(BMB) and poly(ε-caprolactone)(PCL) as carbon source and biofilm carrier.The experimental results show that nitrate in groundwater can be effectively removed using BMB and PCL as carbon source.Denitrification rates supported by BMB and PCL were 52.80 and 42.77 mg(NO3-N)/(m2h),respectively,at 30 ℃ and pH 7.5.The pH value of effluent ranged from 7 to 8,and NO2-N concentration was less than 0.1 mg/L.Compared with BMB,PCL could decrease nitrite accumulation;however,more significant influence of temperature on denitrification was observed for PCL as carbon source.Temperature constants for BMB and PCL were 0.045 and 0.068,respectively,at 10-30℃.Based on denitrification efficiency and cost,BMB is more suitable as a carbon source for denitrification of groundwater than PCL.WANG XuMing WANG JianLong 2009Science China Chemistry2009,52,2:20
3Degradation of 4-chlorophenol in aqueous solution by γ-radiation and ozone oxidation显示文摘The degradation of 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) by using gamma rays generated by a 60Co source in the presence of O3 was investigated. The radiolysis of 4-CP and the kinetics of 4-CP min-eralization were analyzed based on the determination of total organic carbon (TOC). The influence of initial 4-CP concentration and the free radicals scavengers (such as NaHCO3 and t-butanol) on the 4-CP degradation was also studied. The results showed that when the radiation rate was 336 Gy·min?1, 4-chlorophenol at concentration of 10 mg·L?1 could be completely degraded at the radiation dose of 2 kGy. The degradation of 4-chlorophenol could be described by a first-order reaction model, the rate constant of 4-CP degradation by combined ozonation and radiation was 0.1016 min?1, which was 2.4 times higher than the sum of radiation (0.0294 min?1) and ozonation (0.0137 min?1). 5Assessing the Dynamics of Grassland Net Primary Productivity in Response to Climate Change at the Global Scale显示文摘Understanding the net primary productivity(NPP) of grassland is crucial to evaluate the terrestrial carbon cycle. In this study, we investigated the spatial distribution and the area of global grassland across the globe. Then, we used the Carnegie-Ames-Stanford Approach(CASA) model to estimate global grassland NPP and explore the spatio-temporal variations of grassland NPP in response to climate change from 1982 to 2008. Results showed that the largest area of grassland distribution during the study period was in Asia(1737.23 × 104 km^2), while the grassland area in Europe was relatively small(202.83 × 10~4 km^2). Temporally, the total NPP increased with fluctuations from 1982 to 2008, with an annual increase rate of 0.03 Pg C/yr. The total NPP experienced a significant increasing trend from 1982 to 1995, while a decreasing trend was observed from 1996 to 2008. Spatially, the grassland NPP in South America and Africa were higher than the other regions, largely as a result of these regions are under warm and wet climatic conditions. The highest mean NPP was recorded for savannas(560.10 g C/(m^2·yr)), whereas the lowest was observed in open shrublands with an average NPP of 162.53 g C/(m^2·yr). 6Editing of Rice Isoamylase Gene ISA1 Provides Insights into Its Function in Starch Formation显示文摘Isoamylase 1(ISA1) is an isoamylase-type debranching enzyme which plays a predominant role in amylopectin synthesis. In this study, the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated endonuclease 9(CRISPR/Cas9) system was used to edit ISA1 gene in rice via Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. We identified 36 genetic edited lines from 55 T_0 transgenic events, and classified the mutation forms into 7 types. Of those, two homozygous mutants, cr-isa1-1(type 1, with an adenine insertion) and cr-isa1-2(type 3, with a cytosine deletion) were selected for further analysis. Seed sizes of both cr-isa1-1 and cr-isa1-2 were affected, and the two mutants also displayed a shrunken endosperm with significantly lower grain weight. Electron microscopy analysis showed that abnormal starch granules and amyloplasts were found in cr-isa1-1 and cr-isa1-2 endosperm cells. The contents of total starch, amylose and amylopectin in the endosperm of the cr-isa1 mutants were significantly reduced, whereas sugar content and starch gel consistency were observably increased compared to the wild-type. The gelatinization temperature and starch chain length distributions of the cr-isa1 mutants were also altered. Moreover, transcript levels of most starch synthesis-related genes were significantly lower in cr-isa1 mutants. 7Reductive dechlorination of 2,4-dichlorophenol using nanoscale Fe^0: influencing factors and possible mechanism显示文摘Nanoscale Fe0 was synthesized through a reductive method in this paper. The experiments were per-formed to investigate the reduction of 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP) by nanoscale Fe0 under different conditions. The pathways for the reduction of 2,4-DCP by nanoscale Fe0 were discussed. Batch studies demonstrated that the mechanism includes adsorption, dechlorination and cleavage of the benzene ring. Dechlorination, which occurs after 2,4-DCP molecule is adsorbed on the interface of Fe particle, is an interfacial reaction. One or two chlorine atom can be removed from 2,4-DCP to form 2-chlorophenol, 4-chlorophenol or phenol. As the concentration of 2,4-DCP increased, the relative dechlorination ratio decreased. However, the reduced quantities of 2,4-DCP increased. Temperature can influence dechlo-rination rate and pathway. 8Radiolysis of pentachlorophenol (PCP) in aqueous solution by gamma radiation显示文摘Steady-state radiolysis experiments were performed to investigate the γ-irradiation treatment of pentachlorophenol (PCP) in aqueous solution. The e?ect of initial concentration on the PCP degradation was also investigated. The experimental results showed that γirradiation was able to degrade PCP in aqueous solution successfully, and the radiolytical degradation process of PCP could be described by the first-order kinetic model. When the initial concentration of PCP was 25 and 50 mg/L and the radiation dose was 4 and 6 kGy, respectively, the degradation e?ciency was 100%. A luminescence bacterial test was used for evaluating the toxicity of the radiolytic intermediate products. 9Adsorption characteristics of a novel ceramsite for heavy metal removal from stormwater runoff显示文摘Urban sediments have rapidly increased in recent years around the world,and their effective management has become an important problem.To remove heavy metals from stormwater runoff and use sediments as a resource,a novel ceramsite was developed using sewer pipe sediments(SPS),river bed sediments(RBS),urban water supply treatment sludge(WSTS),and wastewater treatment plant excess sludge(WWTS).The optimal composition was determined based on the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller specific surface area and an orthogonal test design.The adsorption characteristics of the novel ceramsite for dissolved heavy metals(Cu^(2+)and Cd^(2+)) were investigated through adsorption isotherms and kinetic experiments at(25±1)℃.Both Cu^(2+) and Cd^(2+) were effectively removed by the novel ceramsite,and their equilibrium adsorption was 4.96 mg·g^(-1) and 3.84 mg·g^(-1),respectively.Langmuir isotherms and a pseudo-first-order kinetic equation described the adsorption process better than other techniques.Characterization analysis of the ceramsite composition before and after heavy metal adsorption showed that the Cu^(2+) and Cd^(2+) contents in the ceramsite increased after adsorption.The results revealed that adsorption is both a physical and chemical process,and that ceramsite can be used as a bioretention medium to remove heavy metals from stormwater runoff while simultaneously converting problematic urban sediments into a resource.Jianlong wang Yuanling Zhao Pingping Zhang Liqiong Yang Huai'ao Xu Guangpeng Xi 2018Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2018,26,1:9

11Genetic bases of source-,sink-,and yield-related traits revealed by genome-wide association study in Xian rice显示文摘The source-sink relationship determines the ultimate grain yield.We investigated the genetic basis of the relationship between source and sink and yield potential in rice.In two environments,we identified quantitative trait loci(QTL)associated with sink capacity(total spikelet number per panicle and thousand-grain weight),source leaf(flag leaf length,flag leaf width and flag leaf area),source-sink relationship(total spikelet number to flag leaf area ratio)and yield-related traits(filled grain number per panicle,panicle number per plant,grain yield per plant,biomass per plant,and harvest index)by genome-wide association analysis using 272 Xian(indica)accessions.The panel showed substantial variation for all traits in the two environments and revealed complex phenotypic correlations.A total of 70 QTL influencing the 11 traits were identified using 469,377 high-quality SNP markers.Five QTL were detected consistently in four chromosomal regions in both environments.Five QTL clusters simultaneously affected source,sink,source–sink relationship,and grain yield traits,probably explaining the genetic basis of significant correlations of grain yield with source and sink traits.We selected 24 candidate genes in the four consistent QTL regions by identifying linkage disequilibrium(LD)blocks associated with significant SNPs and performing haplotype analysis.The genes included one cloned gene(NOG1)and three newly identified QTL(qHI6,qTGW7,and qFLA8).These results provide a theoretical basis for high-yield rice breeding by increasing and balancing source–sink relationships using marker-assisted selection.Yun Wang Yunlong Pang Kai Chen Laiyuan Zhai Congcong Shen Shu Wang Jianlong Xu 2020The Crop Journal2020,8,1:8
12Basic fibroblast growth factor attenuates the degeneration of injured spinal cord motor endplates显示文摘The distal end of the spinal cord and neuromuscular junction may develop secondary degeneration and damage following spinal cord injury because of the loss of neural connections. In this study, a rat model of spinal cord injury, established using a modified Allen's method, was injected with basic fibroblast growth factor solution via subarachnoid catheter. After injection, rats with spinal cord injury displayed higher scores on the Basso, Beattie and Bresnahan locomotor scale. Motor function was also well recovered and hematoxylin-eosin staining showed that spinal glial scar hyperplasia was not apparent. Additionally, anterior tibial muscle fibers slowly, but progressively, atrophied. Immunohistochemical staining showed that the absorbance values of calcitonin gene related peptide and acetylcholinesterase in anterior tibial muscle and spinal cord were similar, and injection of basic fibroblast growth factor increased this absorbance. Results showed that after spinal cord injury, the distal motor neurons and motor endplate degenerated. Changes in calcitonin gene related peptide and acetylcholinesterase in the spinal cord anterior horn motor neurons and motor endplate then occurred that were consistent with this regeneration. 13Histological, hormonal and transcriptomic reveal the changes upon gibberellin-induced parthenocarpy in pear fruit显示文摘Phytohormones play crucial roles in fruit set regulation and development.Here,gibberellins(GA4+7),but not GA3,induced pear parthenocarpy.To systematically investigate the changes upon GA4+7 induced pear parthenocarpy,dynamic changes in histology,hormone and transcript levels were observed and identified in unpollinated,pollinated and GA4+7-treated ovaries.Mesocarp cells continued developing in both GA4+7-treated and pollinated ovaries.In unpollinated ovaries,mesocarp cells stopped developing 14 days after anthesis.During fruit set process,GA4+7,but not GA1+3,increased after pollination.Abscisic acid(ABA)accumulation was significantly repressed by GA4+7 or pollination,but under unpollinated conditions,ABA was produced in large quantities.Moreover,indole-3-acetic acid biosynthesis was not induced by GA4+7 or pollination treatments.Details of this GA–auxin–ABA cross-linked gene network were determined by a comparative transcriptome analysis.The indole-3-acetic acid transport-related genes,mainly auxin efflux carrier component genes,were induced in both GA4+7-treated and pollinated ovaries.ABA biosynthetic genes of the 9-cis-epoxycarotenoid dioxygenase family were repressed by GA4+7 and pollination.Moreover,directly related genes in the downstream parthenocarpy network involved in cell division and expansion(upregulated),and MADS-box family genes(downregulated),were also identified.Thus,a model of GA-induced hormonal balance and its effects on parthenocarpy were established.Lulu Liu Zhigang Wang Jianlong Liu Fengxia Liu Rui Zhai Chunqin Zhu Huibin Wang Fengwang Ma Lingfei Xu 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:7
14Solubility and metastable zone width measurement of 3,4-bis (3-nitrofurazan-4-yl) furoxan (DNTF) in ethanol + water显示文摘The solubility and supersolubility of 3,4-bis(3-nitrofurazan-4-yl)furoxan(DNTF) in ethanol + water at different operation were determined by laser monitoring system under atmospheric pressure to study the metastable zone width(MSZW). The modified Apelblat equation was adopted to correlate the experimental solubility data, and the correlation result showed perfect consistent with the experimental data. The standard dissolution enthalpy, standard dissolution entropy and Gibbs energy were calculated according to the experimental solubility data. The effect of the cooling rate, stirring rate, temperature and the concentration of ethanol + water on the MSZW was studied. It was found that the MSZW of DNTF increased with the increasing cooling rate, decreasing temperature, decreasing stirring rate and decreasing ratio of water. 15Realization and Analysis of Good Fuel Economy and Kinetic Performance of a Low-cost Hybrid Electric Vehicle显示文摘By using high-power and high-efficiency propulsion systems,current hybrid electric vehicles(HEVs) in market can achieve excellent fuel economy and kinetic performance.However,it is the cost of current HEVs that hinders HEVs coming into widespread use.A novel hybrid electric propulsion system is designed to balance HEV cost and performance for developing markets.A battery/supercapacitor-based hybrid energy storage system(HESS) is used to improve energy conversion efficiency and reduce battery size and cost.An all-in-one-controller(AIOC) which integrates engine electronic control unit(ECU),motor ECU,and HESS management system is developed to save materials and energy,and reduce the influence of distribution parameters on circuit.As for the powertrain configuration,four schemes are presented:belt-driven starter generator(BSG) scheme,four-wheel drive HEV scheme,full HEV scheme,and ranger-extender electric vehicle(EV) scheme.Component selection and parameter matching for the propulsion system are performed,and an energy management strategy is developed based on powertrain configuration and selected components.Forward-facing simulation models are built,comprehending the control strategy based on the optimal engine torque for the low-cost hybrid electric propulsion system.Co-simulation of AVL CRUISE and Matlab/Simulink is presented and the best scheme is selected.The simulation results indicate that,for the best design,fuel consumption in urban driving condition is 4.11 L/(100 km) and 0-50 km/h accelerating time is 10.95 s.The proposed research can realize low-cost concept for HEV while achieving satisfactory fuel economy and kinetic performance,and help to improve commercialization of HEVs.WANG Lei ZHANG Jianlong YIN Chengliang ZHANG Yong WU Zhiwei 2011Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2011,24,5:7
16Synergistic effect of ozonation and ionizing radiation for PVA decomposition显示文摘Ozonation and ionizing radiation are both advanced oxidation processes(AOPs) without chemical addition and secondary pollution. Also, the two processes' efficiency is determined by different p H conditions, which creates more possibilities for their combination. Importantly,the combined process of ozonation and ionizing radiation could be suitable for treating wastewaters with extreme p H values, i.e., textile wastewater. To find synergistic effects, the combined process of ozonation and ionizing radiation mineralization was investigated for degradation of polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) at different p H levels. A synergistic effect was found at initial p H in the range 3.0–9.4. When the initial p H was 3.0, the combined process of ozonation and ionizing radiation gave a PVA mineralization degree of 17%. This was 2.7 times the sum achieved by the two individual processes, and factors of 2.1 and 1.7 were achieved at initial p H of7.0 and 9.4, respectively. 17The mechanism and pathway of the ozonation of 4-chlorophenol in aqueous solution显示文摘The removal efficiency of 4-chlorophenol by ozonation was studied, and the reaction mechanism and characteristic of ozonation of 4-chlorophenol were investigated. Ozone and hydroxyl radicals are two strong oxidants during the process of ozonation. The experimental results showed that when there was no scavenger to inhibit OH· radicals, an intermediate product, hydrogen peroxide was formed during the ozonation of 4-chlorophenol. Hydrogen peroxide reacted with ozone at neutral pH and produced hydroxyl radicals. Ozone at the dosage of 113 mg/L could remove 20 mg/L 4-chlorophenol and 39% TOC. With the complete inhibition of hydroxyl radicals, molecular ozone could effectively destroy 4-chlorophenol to form 4-quinone, which was subsequently oxidized to formic acid and oxalic acid. Two reaction pathways of the degradation of 4-chlorophenol by ozone and O3/OH· were proposed in this study. 18The effect of substrate concentration on biohydrogen production by using kinetic models显示文摘The effect of substrate concentration ranging from 0 to 300 g/L on fermentative hydrogen production by mixed cultures was investigated in batch tests using glucose as substrate. The experimental results showed that, at 35℃ and initial pH 7.0, during the fermentative hydrogen production, the hydrogen production potential and hydrogen production rate increased with increasing substrate concentration from 0 to 25 g/L. The maximal hydrogen production potential of 426.8 mL and maximal hydrogen pro-duction rate of 15.1 mL/h were obtained at the substrate concentration of 25 g/L. The maximal hydrogen yield and the maximal substrate degradation efficiency were respectively 384.3 mL/g glucose and 97.6%, at the substrate concentration of 2 g/L. The modified Logistic model could be used to describe the progress of cumulative hydrogen production in this study successfully. 20Arbitrary focusing lens by holographic metasurface显示文摘In this paper, an ultrathin metalens has been proposed based on a holographic metasurface that consists of elongated apertures in 40 nm gold film, which exhibit intriguing properties such as on-and off-axis focusing and also can concentrate light into multiple, discrete spots for circularly polarized incident lights. First, the spatial transmission phase distributions of the designed metalens with arbitrary focusing can be obtained by computergenerated holography. Then, the discrete phase distributions can be continuously encoded by subwavelength nanoapertures with spatially varying orientations in gold film. The simulation results show that our designed metalens can work efficiently for different types of focusing.
