1Radiofrequency ablation or microwave ablation combined with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization in treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma by comparing with radiofrequency ablation alone显示文摘Objective:To compare radiofrequency ablation(RFA) or microwave ablation(MWA) and transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) with RFA or MWA monotherapy in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods:A prospective,randomized,controlled trial was conducted on 94 patients with HCC ≤7 cm at a single tertiary referral center from June 2008 to June 2010 at the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery,the Second Affiliated Hospital of Southeast University.The patients were randomly assigned into the TACERFA or TACE-MWA(combined treatment group) and the RFA-alone or MWA-alone groups(control group).The primary end point was overall survival.The secondary end point was recurrence-free survival,and the tertiary end point was adverse effects.Results:Until the time of censor,17 patients in the TACE-RFA or TACE-MWA group had died.The median follow-up time of the patients who were still alive for the TACE-RFA or TACE-MWA group was 47.5±11.3 months(range,29 to 62 months).The 1-,3- and 5-year overall survival for the TACE-RFA or TACE-MWA group was 93.6%,68.1% and 61.7%,respectively.Twenty-five patients in the RFA or MWA group had died.The median follow-up time of the patients who were still alive for the RFA or MWA group was 47.0±12.9 months(range,28 to 62 months).The 1-,3- and 5-year overall survival for the RFA or MWA group was 85.1%,59.6% and 44.7%,respectively.The patients in the TACE-RFA or TACE-MWA group had better overall survival than the RFA or MWA group [hazard ratio(HR),0.526;95% confidence interval(95% CI),0.334-0.823;P=0.002],and showed better recurrence-free survival than the RFA or MWA group(HR,0.582;95% CI,0.368-0.895;P=0.008).Conclusions:RFA or MWA combined with TACE in the treatment of HCC ≤7 cm was superior to RFA or MWA alone in improving survival by reducing arterial and portal blood flow due to TACE with iodized oil before RFA.Yongxiang Yi Yufeng Zhang Qiang Wei Liang Zhao Jianbo Han Yan Song Ying Ding Guilan Lu Junmao Liu Huaiying Ding Feng Dai Xiaojun Tang 2014Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2014,26,1:29

3Basic fibroblast growth factor attenuates the degeneration of injured spinal cord motor endplates显示文摘The distal end of the spinal cord and neuromuscular junction may develop secondary degeneration and damage following spinal cord injury because of the loss of neural connections. In this study, a rat model of spinal cord injury, established using a modified Allen's method, was injected with basic fibroblast growth factor solution via subarachnoid catheter. After injection, rats with spinal cord injury displayed higher scores on the Basso, Beattie and Bresnahan locomotor scale. Motor function was also well recovered and hematoxylin-eosin staining showed that spinal glial scar hyperplasia was not apparent. Additionally, anterior tibial muscle fibers slowly, but progressively, atrophied. Immunohistochemical staining showed that the absorbance values of calcitonin gene related peptide and acetylcholinesterase in anterior tibial muscle and spinal cord were similar, and injection of basic fibroblast growth factor increased this absorbance. Results showed that after spinal cord injury, the distal motor neurons and motor endplate degenerated. Changes in calcitonin gene related peptide and acetylcholinesterase in the spinal cord anterior horn motor neurons and motor endplate then occurred that were consistent with this regeneration. 4Effects of Shuanghuanglian oral liquids on patients with COVID-19:a randomized,open-label,parallel-controlled,multicenter clinical trial显示文摘We conducted a randomized,open-label,parallel-controlled,multicenter trial on the use of Shuanghuanglian(SHL),a traditional Chinese patent medicine,in treating cases of COVID-19.A total of 176 patients received SHL by three doses(56 in low dose,61 in middle dose,and 59 in high dose)in addition to standard care.The control group was composed of 59 patients who received standard therapy alone.Treatment with SHL was not associated with a difference from standard care in the time to disease recovery.Patients with 14-day SHL treatment had significantly higher rate in negative conversion of SARS-CoV-2 in nucleic acid swab tests than the patients from the control group(93.4%vs.73.9%,P=0.006).Analysis of chest computed tomography images showed that treatment with high-dose SHL significantly promoted absorption of inflammatory focus of pneumonia,which was evaluated by density reduction of inflammatory focus from baseline,at day 7(mean difference(95%CI),−46.39(−86.83 to−5.94)HU;P=0.025)and day 14(mean difference(95%CI),−74.21(−133.35 to−15.08)HU;P=0.014).No serious adverse events occurred in the SHL groups.This study illustrated that SHL in combination with standard care was safe and partially effective for the treatment of COVID-19.Li Ni Zheng Wen Xiaowen Hu Wei Tang Haisheng Wang Ling Zhou Lujin Wu Hong Wang Chang Xu Xizhen Xu Zhichao Xiao Zongzhe Li Chene Li Yujian Liu Jialin Duan Chen Chen Dan Li Runhua Zhang Jinliang Li Yongxiang Yi Wei Huang Yanyan Chen Jianping Zhao Jianping Zuo Jianping Weng Hualiang Jiang Dao Wen Wang 2021Frontiers of Medicine2021,15,5:7
5Aerosol structure and vertical distribution in a multi-source dust region显示文摘The vertical distribution of aerosols was directly observed under various atmospheric conditions in the free troposphere using surface micro-pulse lidar(MPL4) at the Zhangye Station(39.08 N,100.27 E) in western China in the spring of 2008.The study shows that the aerosol distribution over Zhangye can be vertically classified into upper,middle and lower layers with altitudes of 4.5 to 9 km,2.5 to 4.5 km,and less than 2.5 km,respectively.The aerosol in the upper layer originated from the external sources at higher altitude regions,from far desert regions upwind of Zhangye or transported from higher atmospheric layers by free convection,and the altitude of this aerosol layer decreased with time;the aerosols in the middle and lower layers originated from both external and local sources.The aerosol extinction coefficients in the upper and lower layers decreased with altitude,whereas the coefficient in the middle layer changed only slightly,which suggests that aerosol mixing occurs in the middle layer.The distribution of aerosols with altitude has three features:a single peak that forms under stable atmospheric conditions,an exponential decrease with altitude that occurs under unstable atmospheric conditions,and slight change in the mixed layer.Due to the impact of the top of the atmospheric boundary layer,the diurnal variation in the aerosol extinction coefficient has a single peak,which is higher in the afternoon and lower in the morning.Jie Zhang Qiang Zhang Congguo Tang Yongxiang Han 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,8:3
6Prediction Model of Coal Reservoir Pressure and its Implication for the Law of Coal Reservoir Depressurization显示文摘The main methods of coalbed methane(CBM)development are drainage and depressurization,and a precise prediction of coal reservoir pressure is thus crucial for the evaluation of reservoir potentials and the formulation of reasonable development plans.This work established a new reservoir pressure prediction model based on the material balance equation(MBE)of coal reservoir,which considers the self-regulating effects of coal reservoirs and the dynamic change of equivalent drainage area(EDA).According to the proposed model,the reservoir pressure can be predicted based on reservoir condition data and the actual production data of a single well.Compared with traditional reservoir pressure prediction models which regard EDA as a fixed value,the proposed model can better predict the average pressure of reservoirs.Moreover,orthogonal experiments were designed to evaluate the sensitivity of reservoir parameters on the reservoir pressure prediction results of this proposed model.The results show that the saturation of irreducible water is the most sensitive parameter,followed by Langmuir volume and reservoir porosity,and Langmuir pressure is the least sensitive parameter.In addition,the pressure drop of reservoirs is negatively correlated with the saturation of irreducible water and the Langmuir volume,while it is positively correlated with porosity.This work analyzed the reservoir pressure drop characteristics of the CBM wells in the Shizhuangnan Block of the Qinshui Basin,and the results show that the CBM reservoir depressurization can be divided into three types,i.e.,rapidly drop type,medium-term stability type,and slowly drop type.The drainage features of wells were reasonably interpreted based on the comprehensive analysis of the reservoir depressurization type;the latter was coupled to the corresponding permeability dynamic change characteristics,eventually proving the applicability of the proposed model.YAN Xinlu ZHANG Songhang TANG Shuheng LI Zhongcheng WANG Kaifeng YI Yongxiang DANG Feng HU Qiuping 2019Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2019,93,3:2

8Placement of dual capsular tension rings for the combined management of traumatic cyclodialysis cleft and zonular dialysis显示文摘Background:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of placing dual capsular tension rings for the combined management of traumatic cyclodialysis cleft and zonular dialysis.Methods:A modified capsular tension ring was inserted into the ciliary sulcus and a capsular tension ring or modified capsular tension ring was inserted into the capsular bag in 20 eyes in 20 consecutive patients showing signs of ocular hypotony and ectopia lentis.Outcome measures included intraocular pressure,best-corrected visual acuity,and postoperative complications.Results:Dual capsular tension ring placement was performed in 20 patients with a mean age of 48.7 years.The cyclodialysis cleft extended over 2.9 clock hours(range 0.5-6.5).The modified capsular tension ring was successfully inserted into the ciliary sulcus and a capsular tension ring or modified capsular tension ring in the capsular bag in all eyes.At the last follow-up,the cyclodialysis cleft was closed in 16/20(80.0%)eyes.The intraocular lens was stable in all patients postoperatively.Best-corrected visual acuity,in terms of the logarithm of the minimal angle of resolution,improved from 1.3±0.8 before surgery to 0.4±0.3 after surgery(P<0.001).Intraocular pressure increased significantly from 10.6±3.2 mmHg before surgery to 13.0±4.8 mmHg after surgery(P=0.040).Postoperative complications included a painful reversible intraocular pressure spike in four patients(20.0%).Logistic regression revealed no significant factors associated with successful cleft closure and a stable final intraocular pressure of≥10 mmHg.Conclusions:The placement of two capsular tension rings into the ciliary sulcus and the capsular bag is a safe,successful procedure combined for repairing a traumatic cyclodialysis cleft and managing zonular dialysis.Jiahui Chen Lina Lan Yating Tang Yi Lu Yongxiang Jiang 2020Eye and Vision2020,7,1:1
9Content Comparison of Three Kinds of Flavonoids in Powders of Tartary Buckwheat of Different Parts显示文摘The contents of rutin,quercetin and kaempferol in powders of tartary buckwheat of different parts were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography( HPLC). The results showed that the contents of the three kinds of flavonoids differed greatly in the powders of tartary buckwheat of different parts. The contents of rutin and quercetin in the powder of tartary buckwheat sprouts were significantly higher than those in the powders of tartary buckwheat leaves and seeds. The content of kaempferol was highest in the powder of tartary buckwheat seeds. It indicates that high-performance liquid chromatography can be used for quality control of tartary buckwheat powder for its time saving,cost saving and accurate and reliable results. 10Analytical modeling of the junction evolution in single-molecule break junctions: towards quantitative characterization of the time-dependent process显示文摘The conductance through single-molecule junctions characterized by the break junction techniques consists of the through-space tunneling and through-molecule tunneling conductance, and the existence of through-space tunneling between the electrodes makes the quantitative extraction of the intrinsic molecular signals of single-molecule junctions challenging. Here, we established an analytic model to describe the evolution of the conductance of a single molecule in break junction measurements. The experimental data for a series of oligo(aryleneethynylene) derivatives validate the proposed model, which provides a modeling insight into the conductance evolution for the opening process in a 'real' break junction experiment. Further modulations revealed that the junction formation probability and rupture distance of the molecular junction, which reflect the junction stability, will significantly influence the amplitude and position of the obtained conductance peak. 11In situ performance and stability tests of large-area flexible polymer solar cells in the 35-km stratospheric environment显示文摘Flexible organic solar cells(FOSCs)are one of the most promising power sources for aerospace aircraft due to their atractive advantages with high power-per-weight ratio and excellent mechanical flexibility.Understanding the performance and stability of high-performance FOSCs is essential for the further development of FOSCs for aerospace applications.In this paper,after systematic investigations on the performance of the state-of-the-art high-performance solar cells under thermal cycle and intensive UV irradiation conditions,in situ performance and stability tests of the solar cells in the 35 km stratospheric environment were carried out through a high-altitude balloon uploading.The encapsulated FOSCs with an area of 0.64 cm^(2)gave the highest power density of 15.26 mW/cm^(2)and an efficiency over 11%,corresponding to a power-per-weight ratio of over 3.32 k W/kg.More importantly,the cells showed stable power output during the 3-h continuous flight at 35 km and only 10%performance decay after return to the lab,suggesting promising stability of the FOSCs in the stratospheric environment.Zihan Xu Guoning Xu Qun Luo Yunfei Han Yu Tang Ying Miao Yongxiang Li Jian Qin Jingbo Guo Wusong Zha Chao Gong Kun Lu Jianqi Zhang Zhixiang Wei Rong Cai Yanchu Yang Zhaojie Li Chang-Qi Ma 2023National Science Review2023,10,4:0

14Structure Identification for Force-Induced Reaction Using Single-Molecule Conductance Measurement显示文摘Spiropyran derivatives are prototype mechanophores with a promising application as molecular sensors because of their changeable structure under external force stimuli.However,the chemical structure evolution under external stimuli remains unclear due to the uncertainty and difficulty in distinguishing the structures of different ring-opened merocyanine isomers generated in the force-induced reaction.Here we identify the structure of isomers produced by the force-induced reaction of spiropyran derivatives using a single-molecule conductance measurement and an unsupervised clustering algorithm.We found that the original data from the single-molecule conductance measurement can be divided into four clusters through unsupervised clustering.By introducing a photoinduced reaction and theoretical calculation,we identified and attributed the four clusters of data to the multiple states of the molecular junctions.Our work demonstrates that a single-molecule break junction measurement can distinguish the isomers in the force-induced reaction,suggesting the great potential of single-molecule conductance measurement and unsupervised clustering approaches for structural analysis.Jueting Zheng Wenli Gao Taige Lu Lijue Chen Luchun Lin Ruiyun Huang Yongxiang Tang Gang Dong Junyang Liu Yifei Pan Wengui Weng Wenjing Hong 2023CCS Chemistry2023,5,8:0
15Preoperative Characteristics of Ocular Biometry in Children with Unilateral Congenital Cataracts显示文摘The ocular biometry characteristics are clinically significant for children with unilateral congenital cataracts,but there is a lack of data analysis concerning the preoperative measurements.The axial length(AL),mean keratometry(Km),cor-neal astigmatism(CA),and the anterior chamber depth(ACD)from both eyes before cataract surgery were obtained from 205 patients(410 eyes,3-15 years of age)with unilateral congenital cataracts.In the congenital cataract eyes,shorter AL(22.44±1.52 mm vs.22.57±1.04 mm,p=0.036)and higher CA(-1.89±0.91 D vs.-1.24±0.67 D,p<0.001)were found,and no significant difference was found in the Km and the ACD measurements compared to the contralateral normal eyes.Females had shorter AL and shallower ACD compared to males.However,the Km and CA in the females were significantly larger than that in males.Shorter AL,larger Km,higher CA,and shallower ACD were also found in females who had a binocular axial difference(the value obtained by subtraction of the contralateral normal eye from the congenital cataract eye)that less than zero.The preoperative ocular biometry of shorter AL,larger Km,higher CA,and shallower ACD should be considered in females with unilateral congenital cataracts.The age and the binocular axial differences had a statistically significant correlation(r=-0.192,p=0.006).Therefore,changes in the binocular axial differences associated with aging may enhance the guidelines for intraocular lens selection and the management of congenital cataracts.Jiahui Chen Yating Tang Yongxiang Jiang Yi Lu 2022Phenomics2022,2,2:0

17Fusion of EGFP and porcine α 1,3GT genes decrease GFP expression显示文摘Objective:To investigate the effect of fusion proteins expressed by the fused gene of porcineα1,3 galactosyltransierase(α1,3 GT) and enhanced green fluorescent protein(EGFP) on the green fluorescence intensity of EGFP.Methods:The fragment containingα1.3GT was firstly recovered after the pcDNA3.1-α1.3GT recombinant vector were digested with BamHl and EcoRI,and then,the resultant fragment was ligated to the pEGFP-N1 vector which was also digested with the same enzymes.The new recombinant eukaryotic expression pEGFP/a 1,3GT vector was obtained and sequenced.The pEGFP/α1,3GT was used to transfect human lung carcinoma cells A549 and HEKC 293FT,and the expression of EGFP was quantitatively analyzed by fluorescent microscope and flow cytometry.Results:The positive percentage of A549 was 80.5%,and that of 293 FT was 86.5%48 hours after the two cell lines both were transfected by pEGFP-N1.The positive percentage of A549 was 75.8%,and that of 293 FT was 81.2%48 hours after the two cell lines were transfected by pEGFP/α1.3GT.The mean fluorescence intensities of A549 transfected with pEGFP-N1 and pEGFP/α1.3GT were 1.21 and 0.956,respectively when compared with that of A549 without transfection.Meanwhile,the those of the 293FT that were transfected with pEGFP-N1 and pEGFP/αl,3GT were 7.66 and 1.00.respectively when compared with that of 293FT cells without transfection.Conclusions:These results suggested that the expression of EGFP gene fused with porcineα1,3GT gene was partly inhibited.Yongxiang Zhao Jing Tang Qin Yao Yuan Zhou Huange Zhao Xiaoyun Zeng Jiaqi Shi Guorong Luo Xiaoxun Xie Sufang Zhou Zuguo Liu Xiaoling Lu Donghai Lin Jianming Liu 2010Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2010,3,12:0

19Room-Temperature Single-Molecule Conductance Switch via Confined Coordination-Induced Spin-State Manipulation显示文摘The emergence of molecular spintronics offers a unique chance for the design of molecular devices with different spin-states,and the control of spin-state becomes essential for molecular spin switches.However,the intrinsic spin switching from low-to high-spin state is a temperature-dependent process with a small energy barrier where low temperature is required to maintain the low-spin state.Thus,the room-temperature operation of single-molecule devices has not yet been achieved.Herein,we present a reversible single-molecule conductance switch by manipulating the spin states of the molecule at room temperature using the scanning tunneling microscope break-junction(STM-BJ)technique.The manipulation of the spin states between S=0 and S=1 is achieved by complexing or decomplexing the pyridine derivative molecule with a square planar nickel(Ⅱ)porphyrin.The bias-dependent conductance evolution proves that the strong electric field between the nanoelectrodes plays a crucial role in the coordination reaction.The density functional theory(DFT)calculations further reveal that the conductance changes come from the geometric changes of the porphyrin ring and spin-state switching of the Ni(Ⅱ)ion.Our work provides a new avenue to investigate room-temperature spin-related sensors and molecular spintronics.Jing Li Qingqing Wu Wei Xu Hai-Chuan Wang Hewei Zhang Yaorong Chen Yongxiang Tang Songjun Hou Colin JLambert Wenjing Hong 2022CCS Chemistry2022,4,4:0
20Recent advances in chemical protein synthesis:method developments and biological applications显示文摘The central dogma of modern biology underscores the pivotal roles proteins play in diverse biological processes,the study of which necessitates advanced methods to produce proteins with precision and versatility.Chemical protein synthesis,a powerful approach utilizing chemical reactions for the de novo construction of structurally accurate proteins,has emerged as a transformative tool for studying proteins and generating protein derivatives/mimics inaccessible by natural biological machinery,including post-translationally modified proteins,proteins comprised of unnatural amino acids,as well as mirror-image proteins.This review summarizes recent strides in synthetic method developments for chemical protein synthesis,including innovative techniques in solid-phase peptide synthesis,the challenges presented by difficult sequences in either synthesis or folding and the exploration of novel ligation reactions using both chemical and enzymatic methods.Furthermore,the review also delves into newly developed protocols for site-selective protein modifications and the generation of stapled or macrocyclized peptides/miniproteins,highlighting the power of chemical methods to make structurally diverse proteins.Recent applications of synthetic proteins in investigating post-translational modifications(phosphorylation,lipidation,glycosylation,ubiquitination,etc.),mirror-image biological processes and drug development are further discussed.Together,these topics provide a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of chemical protein synthesis.Suwei Dong Ji-Shen Zheng Yiming Li Huan Wang Gong Chen Yongxiang Chen Gemin Fang Jun Guo Chunmao He Honggang Hu Xuechen Li Yanmei Li Zigang Li Man Pan Shan Tang Changlin Tian Ping Wang Bian Wu Chuanliu Wu Junfeng Zhao Lei Liu 2024Science China Chemistry2024,67,4:0
