| 2 | Anachronistic facies in the Lower Triassic of South China and their implications to the ecosystems during the recovery time显示文摘The end-Permian mass extinction not only severely distressed the Paleozoic ecosystems but also dramatically changed the sedimentary systems, resulting in a peculiar Early Triassic ecosystem and submarine environment during the recovery time following the mass extinction. The Lower Triassic is characteristic of the wide occurrence of various distinctive sediments and related sedimentary structures, such as flatpebble conglomerates, vermicular limestone, subtidal wrinkle structures, microbialite, carbonate seafloor fans, thin-bedded limestone and zebra limestone-mudstone. These sediments were common in the Precambrian to Early Ordovician marine settings, and then they occurred only in some extreme and unusual environments with the expansion of metazoan faunas. However, the Early Triassic witnessed an 'anachronistic' reappearance of some distinctive sedimentary records in normal shallow marine settings. The study of these anachronistic facies should be of great importance for the understanding of the unique ecosystem and marine environment through the great Paleozoic-Mesozoic transition. The anachronistic facies characterized by vermicular limestone have been documented in many localities in South China and occur at various horizons of the Lower Triassic. Most types of re- ported distinctive sediments over the world have been observed in the Lower Triassic of South China. This provides an excellent opportunity for understanding the Early Triassic environment and its co- evolution with the biotic recovery. Among the anachronistic facies the vermicular limestone is the most characteristic and common distinctive sediments in the Lower Triassic of South China but has received relatively few investigations. Taking it as a case study, we will detail the variation of vermicular limestone and its stratigraphic distribution in the Three Gorges area, Hubei Province. The investigation on the vermicular limestone and other distinctive sediments from the Lower Triassic of South China further indicates that the appearance of anachronistic facies immediately following the mass extinction and the elimination from normal shallow marine facies with the radiation of Mesozoic marine faunas imply the natural response of the sedimentary systems and ecosystems to the great Paleozoic-Mesozoic transitional events and their induced harsh environments. | 4 | A Review on the Global Stratotype Section and Point of the Permian-Triassic Boundary显示文摘This paper provides a synthetic review of researches on Meishan Section D, the Global Stratotype Section and Point of the Permian-Triassic Boundary (PTB). The history of research, geographic and geological setting of the section are briefly introduced. Changhsingian to “Griesbachian” conodont and ammonoid zonations, the most perfect Permo-Triassic zonations over the world, are presented, with a short discussion on the age of Otoceras. The Changhsingian to “Griesbachian” strata are subdivided into three 3rd order sequences, and the sedimentary structure of each sequence is indicated. The paper presents a correlation of the Changhsingian to “Griesbachian” magnetostratigraphy of the Meishan section with the general scale, and informed the negation of a short magnetic reversal at the PTB suggested by Zhu and Liu (1999). Recent developments of chemostratigraphy of δ 13C and δ 34S are introduced, especially the discovery of more than one negative δ 13C excursions across the PTB. Two important molecular researches reveal the profound changes at the base of eco-system, the microbial catastrophy, and the euxinic conditions in the photic zone during the Permian-Triassic superanoxic event. The paper reports the changes in dating the age of PTB since 2001. According to recent achievements, the age of volcanogenic claybed 25, 14 cm below the PTB, is now set at 252.4±0.3 Ma. | 5 | Cyclostratigraphy of the Induan (Early Triassic) in West Pingdingshan Section,Chaohu,Anhui Province显示文摘The Induan sequence in the West Pingdingshan Section, Chaohu, Anhui Province, displays a series of superimposed mudstone/limestone cycles. The lithological character of the cycles, combined with power spectral and wavelet analysis of magnetic susceptibility readings, reveals 12 short eccentricity and 56 precession Milankovitch cycles - obliquity cycles are not apparent. The uniformity of cycle thicknesses indicates a stable depositional setting making this section ideal to perform various geo-logical studies. Accordingly, the Induan Stage is estimated to have lasted 1.1 Ma, and the depositional rate for this part of the section is about 3.7 cm/ka. | 6 | Surveillance of Noise Exposure Level in the Manufacturing Industry—China,2020显示文摘Introduction:Occupational noise exposure is a widespread issue in the manufacturing industry in China.Since 2019,the National Surveillance System for Occupational Hazards in the workplace was established to understand different occupational hazards,especially occupational noise,in workplaces in China.Methods:Both environmental and individual noise exposure levels were measured for 19,378 enterprises according to the Work Plan for Surveillance of Occupational Hazards in the Workplace(2020)issued by National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China.Median and interquartile range(IQR)were calculated to describe the distribution of the noise exposure level by industry classification,enterprise-scale,and ownership type of the enterprise.Results:Overall,25.14%of the individual noise exposure samples exceeded the Chinese national standard among the selected enterprises.The overall median of environmental noise exposure level was 82.8 dB(A)in selected enterprises,while the median of individual noise exposure level was 81.3 dB(A).The individual noise exposure level in the manufacture of metal products,manufacture of motor vehicles,minisized enterprises,collective enterprises and private enterprises was relatively high.Conclusion:Occupational noise is still one of the occupational hazards that cannot be ignored in the manufacturing industry,especially in mini-sized and private enterprises.The risk of noise exposure in the target industry is still high and will pose a threat to the health of workers. | Jinnan Zheng Siyu Zhang Hongfei Wang Yue Yu Weijiang Hu | 2021 | China CDC weekly2021,3,43: | 9 |
| 7 | Policy and Practice Progress of Watershed Eco-compensation in China显示文摘The ecological protection of the watersheds in China is being confronted with a lot of problems such as soil and water erosion, water pollution at present. Therefore watershed eco-compensation is becoming a question of common interest. Based on the analyses of the major problems and their origins in the watershed protection in China, the paper discusses the concerned policies including relative rules and laws, financial policies and water right transaction policies. Simultaneously the paper reviews the practices carried out in China, including the ecological construction project in the western China, the trans-provincial eco-compensation practice and the small watershed eco-compensation practice. | 8 | A novel aminated polymeric adsorbent for removing refractory dissolved organic matter from landfill leachate treatment plant显示文摘Refractory dissolved organic matter (DOM) from landfill leachate treatment plant was with high dissolved organic carbon (DOC) content. An aminated polymeric adsorbent NDA-8 with tertiary amino groups and sufficient mesopore was synthesized, which exhibited high adsorption capacity to the DOM (raw water after coagulation). Resin NDA-8 performed better in the uptake of the DOM than resin DAX-8 and A100. Electrostatic attraction was considered as the decisive interaction between the adsorbent and adsorbate. Special attention was paid to the correlation between porous structure and adsorption capacity. The mesopore of NDA-8 played a crucial role during uptake of the DOM. In general, resin in chloride form performed a higher removal rate of DOC. | 10 | Cost-benefit analysis of China’s Action Plan for Air Pollution Prevention and Control显示文摘China’s rapid economic growth has caused severe air pollution and public health problems.Therefore,the Chinese government launched the Action Plan for Air Pollution Prevention and Control(hereinafter referred to as the“Air Plan”)in 2013-2017 to improve air quality and safeguard public health.In this study,an analytical framework for a cost-benefit analysis applicable to China was constructed,and the costs and benefits of the implementation of the“Air Plan”in 30 cities and provinces in China from 2013 to 2017 were evaluated.Results show that the total cost of implementation of the“Air Plan”is 1.6511 trillion RMB.The benefits of air quality improvement were determined to be 2.4691 trillion RMB through the willingness-to-pay method to calculate the economic loss of premature deaths.The net benefit related to the implementation of the“Air Plan”was 818 billion RMB.The public health benefit of air quality improvement was 1.5 times the cost of the nationwide implementation of the“Air Plan”.At the provincial level,net benefits that reach 279.3 billion RMB were the highest in Guangdong,whereas the benefit-cost ratio,where the benefit was 5.5 times the cost,was the highest in Fujian.Estimations in this study can serve as a reference for China in formulating similar environmental policies and implementing the “3-year Plan to Defend the Blue Sky”.In addition,these estimations have practical significance for advancing the long-term effective mechanisms of the cost-benefit analysis of China5s environmental policies. | Jing ZHANG Hongqiang JIANG Wei ZHANG Guoxia MA Yanchao WANG Yaling LU Xi HU Jia ZHOU Fei PENG Jun BI Jinnan WANG | 2019 | Frontiers of Engineering Management2019,6,4: | 4 |

| 16 | Caspase-3 mRNA expression in rats with apoptosis of retinal photoreceptor cells显示文摘BACKGROUND: Apoptosis of retinal photoreceptor cells is a commonly pathological characteristic of various eye diseases, while caspase-3 is an important regulating gene and plays a key role in apoptosis. OBJECTIVE: To measure the expression of caspase-3 mRNA in rats with apoptosis of retinal photoreceptor cells by using real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction and compare with those of the normal rats. DESIGN: Randomized controlled animal study. SETTING: Zhongshan Ophthalmological Center of Sun Yat-sen University. MATERIALS: A total of 36 female SD rats of 50 days old and clean grade and weighing (150±10) g were provided by Experimental Animal Center of Northern Area of Sun Yat-sen University. All rats were randomly divided into normal control group (n =6) and N-methyl-N-nitrosourea (MNU) group (n =30), and they were observed at 12 hours, 1, 2, 3 and 5 days after model establishment, with 6 rats at each time point. METHODS: The experiment was carried out at Zhongshan Ophthalmological Center, Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology by State Ministry of Education from March to December 2004. Rats in the normal control group were intraperitoneally injected with saline and rats in the MNU group were intraperitoneally injected with 40 mg/kg MNU. And then, retinal photoreceptor injured models were established. At 12 hours, 1, 2, 3 and 5 days after model establishment, the rats were sacrificed for enucleating right eyeballs, isolating retina immediately and extracting total RNA. The expression of caspase-3 mRNA in retina was measured with real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Expression of caspase-3 mRNA in retina of rats in the two groups. RESULTS: A total of 36 SD rats were involved in the final analysis. The expressions of caspase-3 mRNA in the rat retina of both groups at the five time points (12 hours, 1, 2, 3 and 5 days) after model establishment were 1.52×105, 18.35×105, 25.14×105, 29.25×105, 13.72×105 and 12.24×105, respectively. The expression of caspase-3 mRNA in the MNU group increased after 12 hours of intraperitoneal injection, and rose to the top on the 2nd day, which was 19 times as many as that of the normal control group. Then, it decreased gradually and was still 8 times as many as that of the normal control group on the 5th day.
