1Influence of dexamethasone on mesenteric lymph node of rats with severe acute pancreatitis显示文摘AIM: To study the influence and mechanisms of dexamethasone on mesenteric lymph node of rats with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). METHODS: The SAP rats were assigned to model, treated or sham-operated groups. The mortality, pathological changes of mesenteric lymph nodes, expression levels of NF-kB, P-selectin, Bax, Bcl-2 and caspase-3 protein and changes in apoptotic indexes in lymph nodes were observed at 3, 6 and 12 h after operation. The blood levels of endotoxin, superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), and endothelin-1 (ET-1) in blood were determined. RESULTS: SOD content, expression of Bax protein and apoptotic index were significantly higher in the treated group than in the model group at different time points (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). Other blood-detecting indexes and histopathological scores of mesenteric lymphnodes were lower in the treated than in the model group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01 or P < 0.01). NF-kB protein expression was negative in all groups. Comparing P-selectin and caspase-3 expression levels among all three groups, there was no marked difference between the model and treated group. CONCLUSION: Dexamethasone can protect mesen-teric lymph nodes. 2Study on protecting effects of Baicalin and Octreotide on hepatic injury in rats with severe acute pancreatitis显示文摘AIM: To investigate the protective effects and mechanisms of Baicalin and Octreotide on hepatic injury in rats with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). METHODS: The SAP rat models were prepared and randomly assigned to the model control group, Baicalin treated group, and Octreotide treated group while other healthy rats were assigned to the sham-operated group. Rat mortality, levels of ALT, AST, liver and pancreas pathological changes in all groups were observed at 3, 6 and 12 h after operation. Tissue microarray (TMA) sections of hepatic tissue were prepared to observe expression levels of Bax, Bcl-2 protein and Caspase-3, and changes of apoptotic indexes.RESULTS: Rat survival at 12 h, expression levels of Bax, Caspase-3 protein and apoptotic indexes of liver were all significantly higher in treated groups than in model control group. While the liver and pancreas pathological scores, contents of ALT, AST, and expression levels of Bcl-2 protein were all lower in treated groups than in the model control group. 3Canopy interception loss in a Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica forest of Northeast China显示文摘Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica is one of the main species to be afforested in deserts of China. But little work has been carried out on the canopy interception loss of this plant species. For researching the canopy interception loss of a natural P. sylvestris forest, we observed the gross precipitation, gross snowfall, throughfall and stemflow in a sample plot at the Forest Ecosystem Research Station of Mohe in the Great Khingan Mountains of Northeast China from July 2012 to September 2013. Considering the spatial variability of the throughfall, we increased the area rather than the number of collector and randomly relocated them once a week. The results demonstrated that the throughfall, stemflow, and derived estimates of rainfall and snowfall interception loss during the main rainy and snowy seasons were 77.12%±5.70%, 0.80%, 22.08%±5.51% and 21.39%±1.21% of the incident rainfall or snowfall, respectively. The stemflow didn't occur unless the accumulated rainfall reached up to 4.8 mm. And when the gross precipitation became rich enough, the stemflow increased with increasing tree diameters. 4Conversion of Natural Ecosystems to Cropland Increases the Soil Net Nitrogen Mineralization and Nitrification in Tibet显示文摘A comparative study was conducted to determine the NH4+ and NO3- concentrations in soil profiles and to examine the net nitrogen (N) mineralization and nitrification in adjacent forest, grassland, and cropland soils on the Tibetan Plateau. Cropland soil showed significantly higher inorganic N concentrations in soil profiles compared with forest and grassland soils. NO3- -N accounted for 70%–90% of inorganic N in cropland soil, while NH4+ -N was the main form of inorganic N in forest and grassland soils. The average net N mineralization rate at 0–20 cm depth was approximately twice in cropland soil (1.48 mg kg-1 d-1) as high as in forest (0.83 mg kg-1 d-1) or grassland soil (0.72 mg kg-1 d-1). Cropland showed strong net nitrification, with the net rate almost equal to the total net N mineralization. Urea addition stimulated soil respiration, particularly in forest soil. Most urea-N, however, remained as NH4+ in forest and grassland soils, while NO3- was the main form of inorganic N to increase in cropland soil. 6Editing of Rice Isoamylase Gene ISA1 Provides Insights into Its Function in Starch Formation显示文摘Isoamylase 1(ISA1) is an isoamylase-type debranching enzyme which plays a predominant role in amylopectin synthesis. In this study, the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated endonuclease 9(CRISPR/Cas9) system was used to edit ISA1 gene in rice via Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. We identified 36 genetic edited lines from 55 T_0 transgenic events, and classified the mutation forms into 7 types. Of those, two homozygous mutants, cr-isa1-1(type 1, with an adenine insertion) and cr-isa1-2(type 3, with a cytosine deletion) were selected for further analysis. Seed sizes of both cr-isa1-1 and cr-isa1-2 were affected, and the two mutants also displayed a shrunken endosperm with significantly lower grain weight. Electron microscopy analysis showed that abnormal starch granules and amyloplasts were found in cr-isa1-1 and cr-isa1-2 endosperm cells. The contents of total starch, amylose and amylopectin in the endosperm of the cr-isa1 mutants were significantly reduced, whereas sugar content and starch gel consistency were observably increased compared to the wild-type. The gelatinization temperature and starch chain length distributions of the cr-isa1 mutants were also altered. Moreover, transcript levels of most starch synthesis-related genes were significantly lower in cr-isa1 mutants. 7Estimating canopy closure density and above-ground tree biomass using partial least square methods in Chinese boreal forests显示文摘Boreal forests play an important role in global environment systems. Understanding boreal forest ecosystem structure and function requires accurate monitoring and estimating of forest canopy and biomass. We used partial least square regression (PLSR) models to relate forest parameters, i.e. canopy closure density and above ground tree biomass, to Landsat ETM+ data. The established models were optimized according to the variable importance for projection (VIP) criterion and the bootstrap method, and their performance was compared using several statistical indices. All variables selected by the VIP criterion passed the bootstrap test (p<0.05). The simplified models without insignificant variables (VIP <1) performed as well as the full model but with less computation time. The relative root mean square error (RMSE%) was 29% for canopy closure density, and 58% for above-ground tree biomass. 8Pathological changes in multiple organs of rats with severe acute pancreatitis treated by baicalin and octreotide显示文摘BACKGROUND:Severe acute pancreatitis(SAP)features fatal pathogenetic conditions and high mortality rate.The study of SAP complicated with multiple organ injuries is of important significance.In this study,we explored the protective effect of baicalin on multiple organs of SAP rats and compared it with that of octreotide through light and electron microscopic observations of the pathological changes. METHODS:The improved Aho method was used to prepare SAP rat models.These rats were then randomly divided into a sham-operated group(n=45),a model control group(n=45), baicalin-treated group(n=45)and octreotide-treated group (n=45).Based on the difference in time points after operation, these groups were subdivided into 3,6 and 12 hour subgroups (n=15).At the corresponding time point after operation,the mortality rate of rats was recorded,and then the rats were humanely killed to take samples of multiple organs that were subsequently examined for pathological changes under light and electron microscopy. 9Evaluating spatial structure of a mixed broad-leaved/Korean pine forest based on neighborhood relationships in Mudanfeng National Nature Reserve,China显示文摘China’s 13 th 5-year forestry plan explicitly requires the end of commercial harvesting and the improved management of natural forests by means of adjusting and optimizing forest structure and developing high-quality forest production.This requires the quantification of stand structure and species diversity.In this study,species distribution,association and size differentiation in a mixed broad-leaved/Korean pine(Pinus koraiensis Siebold&Zucc.)forest in Mudanfeng National Nature Reserve were analyzed using three spatial structure indices:uniform angle index,complete mingling index,and size differentiation index.The results show that the species were randomly distributed,with a moderate size differentiation and high mixed structure.Three dominant species exhibited different patterns in terms of the three indices and their bivariate distribution.Overall,Korean pine showed an opposite trend to Manchurian maple(Acer mandshuricum Maxim.),whereas the distribution pattern of Manchurian linden(Tilia mandshurica Rupr.&Maxim.)was similar to that of the entire stand.Our work contributes to further the knowledge of population structure in order to optimize the structure of secondary forests and plantations.Miao Yang Tijiu Cai Cunyong Ju Hongfei Zou 2019Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,4:4

11The next detectors for gravitational wave astronomy显示文摘This paper focuses on the next detectors for gravitational wave astronomy which will be required after the current ground based detectors have completed their initial observations, and probably achieved the first direct detection of gravitational waves. The next detectors will need to have greater sensitivity, while also enabling the world array of detectors to have improved angular resolution to allow localisation of signal sources. Sect. 1 of this paper begins by reviewing proposals for the next ground based detectors,and presents an analysis of the sensitivity of an 8 km armlength detector, which is proposed as a safe and cost-effective means to attain a 4-fold improvement in sensitivity. The scientific benefits of creating a pair of such detectors in China and Australia is emphasised. Sect. 2 of this paper discusses the high performance suspension systems for test masses that will be an essential component for future detectors, while sect. 3 discusses solutions to the problem of Newtonian noise which arise from fluctuations in gravity gradient forces acting on test masses. Such gravitational perturbations cannot be shielded, and set limits to low frequency sensitivity unless measured and suppressed. Sects. 4 and 5 address critical operational technologies that will be ongoing issues in future detectors. Sect. 4 addresses the design of thermal compensation systems needed in all high optical power interferometers operating at room temperature. Parametric instability control is addressed in sect. 5. Only recently proven to occur in Advanced LIGO, parametric instability phenomenon brings both risks and opportunities for future detectors. The path to future enhancements of detectors will come from quantum measurement technologies. 15Plasma membrane H^(+)-ATPases-mediated cytosolic proton gradient regulates pollen tube growth显示文摘The polar growth of pollen tubes is essential for the delivery of sperm cells during fertilization in angiosperms. How this polar growth is regulated has been a long-standing question. An in vitro pharmacological assay previously implicated proton flux in pollen tube growth, although genetic and cellular supporting evidence was lacking. Here, we report that protons form a gradient from the pollen tube tip to the shank region and this gradient is generated by three members of Arabidopsis H^(+)-ATPases (AHAs). 16ILC3-derived OX40L is essential for homeostasis of intestinal Tregs in immunodeficient mice显示文摘OX40L is one of the co-stimulatory molecules that can be expressed by splenic lymphoid tissue inducer(Lti)cells,a subset of group 3 innate lymphoid cells(ILC3s).OX40L expression in subsets of intestinal ILC3s and the molecular regulation of OX40L expression in ILC3s are unknown.Here,we showed intestinal ILC3s marked as an OX40L high population among all the intestinal leukocytes and were the dominant source of OX40L in Rag1–/–mice.All ILC3 subsets expressed OX40L,and NCR–ILC3s were the most abundant source of OX40L.The expression of OX40L in ILC3s could be upregulated during inflammation.In addition to tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-like cytokine 1A(TL1A),which has been known as a trigger for OX40L,we found that Poly(I:C)representing viral stimulus promoted OX40L expression in ILC3s via a cell-autonomous manner.Furthermore,we demonstrated that IL-7-STAT5 signaling sustained OX40L expression by ILC3s.Intestinal regulatory T cells(Tregs),most of which expressed OX40,had defective expansion in chimeric mice,in which ILC3s were specifically deficient for OX40L expression.Consistently,co-localization of Tregs and ILC3s was found in the cryptopatches of the intestine,which suggests the close interaction between ILC3s and Tregs.Our study has unveiled the crosstalk between Tregs and ILC3s in mucosal tissues through OX40–OX40L signaling,which is crucial for the homeostasis of intestinal Tregs.Tian Deng Caixia Suo Jiali Chang Rui Yang Jingyu Li Ting Cai Ju Qiu 2020Cellular & Molecular Immunology2020,17,2:3

19Large piezoelectric response in a family of metal-free perovskite ferroelectric compounds from first-principles calculations显示文摘Metal-free organic perovskite ferroelectric materials have been shown recently to have a number of attractive properties,including high spontaneous polarization and piezoelectric coefficients.In particular,slow evaporation of solutions containing organic amines,inorganic ammoniums,and dilute hydrohalogen acid has been shown to produce several attractive materials in the MDABCO-NH_(4)-I_(3) family(MDABCO is N-methyl-N’-diazabicyclo[2,2,2]octonium).In the present work,we study by first-principles calculations the origin of polarizaiton,electronic density of state,piezoelectric response,and elastic properties of MDABCO-NH_(4)-X_(3)(X=Cl,Br,I).We find that the dipole moments of the MDABCO and NH_(4) groups are negligible,and the large spontaneous polarization of MDABCONH_(4)-I_(3) mainly results from MDABCO and NH_(4) being off-center relative to I ions.Although the piezoelectric response of organic materials is usually very weak,we observe large piezoelectric strain components,d_(x4) and d_(x5);the calculated d_(x5) is 119 pC/N for MDABCO-NH_(4)-Cl_(3),248 pC/N for MDABCO-NH_(4)-Br_(3) and 178 pC/N for MDABCO-NH_(4)-I_(3).The large value of dx5 is found to be closely related with the large value of elastic compliance tensor,s44.These results show that MDABCO-NH_(4)-X_(3) metal-free organic perovskites have large piezoelectric response with soft elastic properties.Hui Wang Huihui Liu Zeyu Zhang Zihan Liu Zhenlong Lv Tongwei Li Weiwei Ju Haisheng Li Xiaowu Cai Han Han 2019npj Computational Materials2019,,1:3
20Electrochemical Properties of Polypyrrole-Coated Microelectrode Array and the Fabrication of Polypyrrole-Based Microelectronic Devices显示文摘Conducting polymers have been studied extensively. An interesting property of the conducting polymer is that the conductivity of some polymers, such as polypyrrolc, polyaniline, poly(3-methylthiophene) etc. , is affected by the voltage applied to them. For polypyrrole, the oxidized state is an electronic conductor and the reduced state is essentially insulating. Using this property, one can fabricate the polymer-based electronic devices.
