Adversarial Attacks and Defenses in Images, Graphs and Text: A Review显示文摘Deep neural networks(DNN)have achieved unprecedented success in numerous machine learning tasks in various domains. However, the existence of adversarial examples raises our concerns in adopting deep learning to safety-critical applications. As a result,we have witnessed increasing interests in studying attack and defense mechanisms for DNN models on different data types, such as images, graphs and text. Thus,it is necessary to provide a systematic and comprehensive overview of the main threats of attacks and the success of corresponding countermeasures. In this survey,we review the state of the art algorithms for generating adversarial examples and the countermeasures against adversarial examples, for three most popular data types, including images, graphs and text. | Han Xu Yao Ma Hao-Chen Liu Debayan Deb Hui Liu Ji-Liang Tang Anil K.Jain | 2020 | International Journal of Automation and computing2020,17,2: | 15

Scrupulous recognition of biologically important acids by fluorescent "turn off-on" mechanism of thaicalix reduced silver nanoparticles显示文摘Water dispersible silver nanoparticles(AgNps) were prepared using thiacalix[4]arene tetrahydrazide(TCTH) as a reducing and stabilizing agent.TCTH-AgNps were characterized by surface plasmon resonance(SPR),transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and energy dispersive X-ray(EDX).Relatively uniform 20 nm spherical particles of TCTH-AgNps were efficiently formed over a pH range of 5-9 and from 10-40 ℃.The interaction behavior of TCTH-AgNps with different amino acids was investigated using spectrophotometry and spectrofluorimetry.Among the amino acids tested, only tryptophan and histidine showed fluorescence quenching and fluorescence enhancement, respectively. The linear detection range by Stern-Volmer plot was 5 nmol/L to 0.48 μmol/L for tryptophan and 4 nmol/L to 0.54 μmol/L for histidine.TCTH-AgNps were able to effectively reduce the levels of gram-positive bacteria,gram-negative bacteria, and fungi. These properties argue for the potential use of TCTH-AgNps as detectors of histidine and tryptophan and as antibiotics. | Savan M.Darjee Keyur D.Bhatt Urvi S.Panchal Vinod K.Jain | 2017 | Chinese Chemical Letters2017,28,2: | 1

The zinc finger transcription factor,KLF2,protects against COVID-19 associated endothelial dysfunction显示文摘Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is regarded as an endothelial disease(endothelialitis)with its patho-mechanism being incompletely understood.Emerging evidence has demonstrated that endothelial dysfunction precipitates COVID-19 and its accompanying multi-organ injuries. Thus, pharmacotherapies targeting endothelial dysfunction have potential to ameliorate COVID-19 and its cardiovascular complications. The objective of the present study is to evaluate whether kruppel-like factor 2(KLF2),a master regulator of vascular homeostasis, represents a therapeutic target for C0VID-19-induced endothelial dysfunction. Here,we demonstrate that the expression of KLF2 was reduced and monocyte adhesion was increased in endothelial cells treated with COVID-19 patient serum due to elevated levels of pro-adhesive molecules,ICAM1 and VCAM1.IL-1β and TNF-α;two cytokines elevated in cytokine release syndrome in COVID-19 patients, decreased KLF2 gene expression.Pharmacologic(atorvastatin and tannic acid)and genetic(adenoviral overexpression)approaches to augment KLF2 levels attenuated COVID-19-serum-induced increase in endothelial inflammation and monocyte adhesion.Next-generation RNA-sequencing data showed that atorvastatin treatment leads to a cardiovascular protective transcriptome associated with improved endothelial function(vasodilation, antiinflammation, antioxidant status,anti-thrombosis/-coagulation,anti-fibrosis,and reduced angiogenesis). Finally, knockdown of KLF2 partially reversed the ameliorative effect of atorvastatin on COVID-19-serum-induced endothelial inflammation and monocyte adhesion.Collectively, the present study implicates loss of KLF2 as an important molecular event in the development of COVID-19-induced vascular disease and suggests that efforts to augment KLF2 levels may be therapeutically beneficial. | Suowen Xu Yujie Liu Yu Ding Sihui Luo Xueying Zheng Xiumei Wu Zhenghong Liu Iqra Ilyas Suyu Chen Shuxin Han Peter J.Little Mukesh K.Jain Jianping Weng | 2021 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,8: | 1

Predicting Lumbar Spondylolisthesis: A Hybrid Deep Learning Approach显示文摘Spondylolisthesis is a chronic disease, and a timely diagnosis of it may help in avoiding surgery.Disease identification in x-ray radiographs is very challenging.Strengthening the feature extraction tool in VGG16 has improved the classification rate. But the fully connected layers of VGG16 are not efficient at capturing the positional structure of an object in images.Capsule network(CapsNet)works with capsules(neuron clusters)rather than a single neuron to grasp the properties of the provided image to match the pattern. In this study,an integrated model that is a combination of VGG16 and CapsNet(S-VCNet)is proposed. In the model,VGG16 is used as a feature extractor. After feature extraction, the output is fed to CapsNet for disease identification.A private dataset is used that contains 466 X-ray radiographs, including 186 images displaying a spine with spondylolisthesis and 280 images depicting a normal spine. The suggested model is the first step towards developing a web-based radiological diagnosis tool that can be utilized in outpatient clinics where there are not enough qualified medical professionals.Experimental results demonstrate that the developed model outperformed the other models that are used for lumbar spondylolisthesis diagnosis with 98%accuracy.After the performance check, the model has been successfully deployed on the Gradio web app platform to produce the outcome in less than 20 s. | Deepika Saravagi Shweta Agrawal Manisha Saravagi Sanjiv K.Jain Bhisham Sharma Abolfazl Mehbodniya Subrata Chowdhury Julian L.Webber | 2023 | Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing2023,37,8: | 0

Patch graft for pterygium surgery:stitch it or stick it?显示文摘Pterygia are an extremely common ocular condition believed to be occurring due to proliferation and overgrowth of abnormal epithelial and fibrovascular tissue onto the cornea. They are characterized by cellular proliferation, neovascularization and inflammation.Indications for treatment vary from minor cosmetic concerns to significant visual loss.Management options include an array of surgical techniques including simple resection(leaving the sclera bare),or resection followed by covering the sclera with primary conjunctival closure,a conjunctival or conjunctivolimbal autograft(CAG and CLAG respectively)from another site on the bulbar conjunctiva of the same eye,or with human amniotic membrane(HAM). | Arun K.Jain Parul Goyal Chintan Malhotra | 2017 | Annals of Eye Science2017,,1: | 0
