1Seasonal and spatial distributions of euphotic zone and longterm variations in water transparency in a clear oligotrophic Lake Fuxian, China显示文摘To assess the seasonal and spatial variations and long-term trends in water optical properties in Lake Fuxian, investigations based on field work in four seasons and a long-term analysis of data from 1980 to 2014 were conducted. The results show that there was no significant variation in the euphotic depth(Z_(eu)) across the four seasons, and no significant correlations between Z_(eu) and potential influencing factors in seasons other than summer, suggesting that the water itself may be a major factor regulating the Z_(eu)in general. Nevertheless, significant differences in Z_(eu) between the north region(NR) and the south region(SR) were observed in all seasonal tests except spring. This finding relates to a higher abundance of chromophoric dissolved organic matter(CDOM) in the NR due to runoff, especially in the rainy seasons(summer and autumn).CDOM and its terrigenous component had an important impact on Z_(eu)in summer, with the highest precipitation, and impacts from suspended solids and non-algal particles were also found in the NR in summer. The Secchi disk depth in the lake decreased clearly over the years,with significantly negative correlations with the increasing permanganate index and air temperature, implying that organic contaminants(CDOM and/or phytoplankton) are important regulators of water transparency. We estimate that the combined effects of climate warming and changes in land use and land cover are also indirect regulating factors. 5Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG ameliorates DON-induced intestinal damage depending on the enrichment of beneficial bacteria in weaned piglets显示文摘Background: Deoxynivalenol(DON) is one of the most common environmental pollutants that induces intestinal inflammation and microbiota dysbiosis. Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG(LGG) is a probiotic that not only has anti-inflammatory effects, but also shows protective effect on the intestinal barrier. However, it is still unknown whether LGG exerts beneficial effects against DON-induced intestinal damage in piglets. In this work, a total of 36 weaned piglets were randomized to one of four treatment groups for 21 d. The treatment groups were CON(basal diet);LGG(basal diet supplemented with 1.77 × 10^(11)CFU/kg LGG);DON(DON-contaminated diet) and LGG + DON(DON-contaminated diet supplemented with 1.77 × 10^(11)CFU/kg LGG).Result: Supplementation of LGG can enhance growth performance of piglets exposed to DON by improving intestinal barrier function. LGG has a mitigating effect on intestinal inflammation induced by DON exposure, largely through repression of the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway. 6A novel manganese complex LMnAc selectively kills cancer cells by induction of ROS-triggered and mitochondrial-mediated cell death显示文摘We previously identified a novel synthesized metal compound,LMnAc([L2Mn2(Ac)(H2O)2](Ac)(L=bis(2-pyridylmethyl)amino-2-propionic acid)).This compound exhibited significant inhibition on cancer cell proliferation and was more selective against cancer cells than was the popular chemotherapeutic reagent cisplatin.In this study,we further investigated the underlying molecular mechanisms of LMnAc-induced cancer cell death.We found that LMnAc achieved its selectivity against cancer cells through the transferrin-transferrin receptor system,which is highly expressed in tumor cells.LMnAc triggered cancer cells to commit autophagy and apoptosis,which was mediated by the mitochondrial pathway.Moreover,LMnAc disrupted mitochondrial function,resulting in mitochondrial membrane potential collapse and ATP reduction.In addition,LMnAc induced intracellular Ca2+overload and reactive oxygen species generation.Interestingly,its anticancer effect was significantly reduced following pretreatment with the antioxidant N-acetyl cysteine,indicating that reactive oxygen species triggered cell death.Altogether,our data suggest that LMnAc appears to be a selectively promising anticancer drug candidate.LI Xiang ZHAO KaiDi GUO WenJie LIU Xu LIU Jia GAO Jing CHEN QiuYun BAI YiDong 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,10:1

8Enhancing Image Description Generation through Deep Reinforcement Learning:Fusing Multiple Visual Features and Reward Mechanisms显示文摘Image description task is the intersection of computer vision and natural language processing,and it has important prospects,including helping computers understand images and obtaining information for the visually impaired.This study presents an innovative approach employing deep reinforcement learning to enhance the accuracy of natural language descriptions of images.Our method focuses on refining the reward function in deep reinforcement learning,facilitating the generation of precise descriptions by aligning visual and textual features more closely.Our approach comprises three key architectures.Firstly,it utilizes Residual Network 101(ResNet-101)and Faster Region-based Convolutional Neural Network(Faster R-CNN)to extract average and local image features,respectively,followed by the implementation of a dual attention mechanism for intricate feature fusion.Secondly,the Transformer model is engaged to derive contextual semantic features from textual data.Finally,the generation of descriptive text is executed through a two-layer long short-term memory network(LSTM),directed by the value and reward functions.Compared with the image description method that relies on deep learning,the score of Bilingual Evaluation Understudy(BLEU-1)is 0.762,which is 1.6%higher,and the score of BLEU-4 is 0.299.Consensus-based Image Description Evaluation(CIDEr)scored 0.998,Recall-Oriented Understudy for Gisting Evaluation(ROUGE)scored 0.552,the latter improved by 0.36%.These results not only attest to the viability of our approach but also highlight its superiority in the realm of image description.Future research can explore the integration of our method with other artificial intelligence(AI)domains,such as emotional AI,to create more nuanced and context-aware systems.Yan Li Qiyuan Wang Kaidi Jia 2024Computers, Materials & Continua2024,78,2:0
9Pressure-dependent band-bending in ZnO:A near-ambient-pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy study显示文摘ZnO-based catalysts have been intensively studied because of their extraordinary performance in lower olefin synthesis,methanol synthesis and water-gas shift reactions.However,how ZnO catalyzes these reactions are still not well understood.Herein,we investigate the activations of CO_(2),O_(2)and CO on single crystalline ZnO polar surfaces at room temperature,through in-situ near-ambient-pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(NAP-XPS).It is revealed that O_(2)and CO_(2)can undergo chemisorption on ZnO polar surfaces at elevated pressures.On the ZnO(0001)surface,molecular CO_(2)(O_(2))can chemically interact with the top layer Zn atoms,leading to the formation of CO_(2)^(δ-)(O_(2)^(δ-))or partially dissociative atomic oxygen(O-)and hence the electron depletion layer in ZnO.Therefore,an apparent upward band-bending in ZnO(0001)is observed under the CO_(2)and O_(2)exposure.On the ZnO(0001)surface,the molecular chemisorbed CO_(2)(O_(2))mainly bond to the surface oxygen vacancies,which also results in an upward bandbending in ZnO(0001).In contrast,no band-bending is observed for both ZnO polar surfaces upon CO exposure.The electron-acceptor nature of the surface bounded molecules/atoms is responsible for the reversible binding energy shift of Zn 2 p_(3/2)and O 1 s in ZnO.Our findings can shed light on the fundamental understandings of CO_(2)and O_(2)activation on ZnO surfaces,especially the role of ZnO in heterogeneous catalytic reactions.Zhirui Ma Xu Lian Kaidi Yuan Shuo Sun Chengding Gu Jia Lin Zhang Jing Lyu Jian-Qiang Zhong Lei Liu Hexing Li Wei Chen 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,9:0

11REE geochemistry of gangue minerals and their geological significance in the Muli antimony ore deposit in Yunnan, China显示文摘The Muli antimony deposit is located in the Au-Sb polymetallic metallogenic belt in south-eastern Yunnan,China.In this paper,we investigated the concentrations of trace elements in gangue minerals,mainly calcite,quartz,and pyrite,which were formed at different metallogenic stages.Meanwhile,the host rocks,predominantly composed of limestone,are also analysed for comparison.The calcite from the Nadan ore section is enriched with medium-heavy rare earth elements(M-HREEs),likely due to the presence of a high concentration of Fe and Mn impurities,which results in the preferential enrichment of M-HREEs in the calcite.Alternatively,the calcite may be precipitated from the M-HREE・rich granitic leaching fluid.In the Muli ore section,both quartz and pyrite in the metallogenic period show enrichment with light rare earth elements(LREEs),and the wall rock is also enriched with LREEs,which indicates that the wall rock material was involved in the metallogenic process.The W-shaped tetrad effect of quartz in the late metallogenic stage was interpreted to determine extensive flu id-rock interactions in highly fractionated Si-rich systems.Fe and Mn impurities cause M-HREE to be preferentially enriched with calcite to some extent.Whether mineralization is related to granite deserves further study.Eu and Ce anomalies of different types of gangue minerals indicate that the temperature and the fO2 were constantly changing during mineralization,and the temperature of the main ore-stage was higher than 200°C in an oxidized state.The various REE patterns,LREE/HREE and(La/Yb)N values,reveal that there may be multi-sources and multi-stage hydrothermal activities in the Muli antimony deposit.The REE distribution patterns of minerals are likely interfered with by many internal and external factors.Studies on REE characteristics of calcite,quartz,pyrite and limestone in the Muli antimony deposit have greatly improved the understanding of ore-forming fluids.When we traced the origin and evolution of ore・forming fluids by means of mineral REE distribution patterns,in addition to the determination of inclusions of ore minerals related to mineralization and the in situ analysis methods performed by LA-ICP-MS,we should also com・bine the REE characteristics of various minerals or trace the ore-forming fluids with multiple methods.Zhenchun Han Jiasheng Wang Chao Li Kaidi Qiao Jinyang Chang 2019Acta Geochimica2019,38,6:0
12Organic Carbon Deposition on the Inner Shelf of the East China Sea Constrained by Sea Level and Climatic Changes Since the Last Deglaciation显示文摘The East China Sea(ECS),which is located in the transitional zone between land and ocean,is the main site for the burial of sedimentary organic carbon.Despite good constraints of the modern source to the sinking process of organic carbon,its fate in response to changes in climate and sea level since the last deglaciation remains poorly understood.We aim to fill this gap by presenting a high-resolution sedimentary record of core EC2005 to derive a better understanding of the evolution of the depositional environment and its control on the organic deposition since 17.3 kyr.Our results suggest that sedimentary organic carbon was deposited in a terrestrial environment before the seawater reached the study area around 13.1 kyr.This significant transition from a terrestrial environment to a marine environment is reflected by the decrease in TOC/TN and TOC/TS ratios,which is attributed to deglacial sea level rise.The sea level continued to rise until it reached its highstand at approximately 7.3 kyr when the mud depocenter was developed.Our results further indicate that the deposition of the sedimentary organic carbon could respond quickly to abrupt cold events,including the Heinrich stadial 1 and the Younger Dryas during the last deglaciation,as well as‘Bond events'during the Holocene.We propose that the rapid response of the organic deposition to those cold events in the northern hemisphere is linked to the East Asian winter monsoon.These new findings demonstrate that organic carbon deposition and burial on the inner shelf could effectively document sea level and climatic changes.ZHANG Mingyu LIU Xiting XU Fangjian LI Anchun GU Yu CHANG Xin ZHUANG Guangchao ZHANG Kaidi BI Naishuang WANG Houjie 2023Journal of Ocean University of China2023,22,5:0
13Pan-cancer analysis of the prognostic and immunological role of nucleophosmin/nucleoplasmin 3(NPM3)and its potential significance in lung adenocarcinoma显示文摘Background Nucleophosmin/nucleoplasmin 3(NPM3),a member of the NPM protein family,is widely expressed in various human tissues.Although previous studies identified elevated NPM3 expression in several cancers,a systematic pan-cancer analysis remains lacking.In this study,we conducted a comprehensive analysis of NPM3 to determine its role in tumorigenesis and tumor development.Methods Using data from The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)and various bioinformatics analysis tools,we conducted a pan-cancer analysis of NPM3.Additionally,we collected gene expression and clinical data from 890 patients with lung adenocarcinoma(LUAD)from TCGA and the Gene Expression Omnibus database.We performed Cox regression analyses to explore the independent prognostic value of NPM3 expression in LUAD and plotted a nomogram to predict patient survival.We also used real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR)to examine the expression levels of NPM3 in seven pairs of LUAD and paraneoplastic tissue samples.Results NPM3 expression was significantly increased in 20 types of cancer and was associated with poor prognosis in five types(P<0.05).NPM3 expression was negatively correlated with DNA methylation and positively correlated with copy number variation.NPM3 was also significantly associated with immune cell infiltration in various cancers.Cox regression analyses revealed that NPM3 expression could serve as an independent prognostic marker of LUAD.Moreover,our nomogram demonstrated good predictive ability for the prognosis of patients with LUAD.Finally,the high expression of NPM3 in LUAD was verified using RT-qPCR.Conclusion NPM3 is a promising biomarker for predicting pan-cancer prognosis and immunotherapeutic efficacy.Qianhui Wei Jing Zhou Xinyue Wang Zhaona Li Xiuqiong Chen Kaidi Chen Richeng Jiang 2023Cancer Pathogenesis and Therapy2023,1,4:0
