1Species composition and diversity of Euphausiacea in the East China Sea显示文摘Based on the data of four seasonal oceanographic censuses in the East China Sea (23°30′~33°00′N, 118°30′~128°00′E) in 1997~2000, the species composition and the diversity of Euphausiacea were discussed as well as their relations with environmental variables. Results showed that there were totally 23 different species of Euphausiacea, in which 16 occurred in spring and autumn respectively; 15 were present in summer and only 10 were observed in winter. According to the calculated alternation fraction (R), the species composition showed a clear seasonal alternation with the changes ofseasons. Moreover, the environmental variables had different impacts on the distribution of Euphausiacea in different seasons. The distribution in summer was not significantly related to water temperature and salinity. However, the surface salinity was a major determinant of the distribution in spring. In autumn, both surface and bottom temperatures were influencing factors. The distribution in winter depended on salinity at the surface and 10 m depth as well as the temperature at 10 m depth. Regarding to the seasonal variation of species composition, the variations in spring, summer and autumn were not so significant as those in winter. Except in summer, the species number changed with synchronous water temperature and salinity, as a result of the presence of warm currents in the East China Sea and the habitability of the dominant species. 3Study on abundance variation of pteropods in the East China Sea显示文摘On the basis of the census in four seasons from 1997 to 2000 in the East China Sea (23°30′ ̄33°N, 118°30′ ̄128°E), the horizontal distribution of pteropods, the seasonal variations of their abundance and dynamic mechanisms of these variations were approached with quantitative and qualitative methods. Results showed that the total abundance of pteropods varied clearly with the seasons in an order of decrease of autumn (108×10-2 ind./m3), summer (33×10-2 ind./m3), winter(28×10-2 ind./m3) and spring (10×10-2 ind./m3). Pteropods were not observed in the north nearshore of the East China Sea (29°30′ ̄33°N, 122°30′ ̄125°E)in winter and spring. In all seasons, the peteropod abundance was higher in the south than that in the north and higher in the offshore than that in the nearshore. The major species influencing the peteropod abundance were Creseis acicula in spring, Creseis virgula in summer, Desmopterus papilio in autumn and Limacina trochiformis in winter. The variation of pteropod abundance showed a prominent linear correlation with the surface water temperature and 10 m water temperature, but no significant correlation with both the bottom water temperature and salinity. In summer, the high-abundance distribution area of pteropods was located in the place where the Taiwan Warm Current branchedfromtheKuroshio. Inautumn, thedistributionareawithanabundancehigherthan250×10-2ind./m3expanded northward along with the Taiwan Warm Current within the mixing area where the Changjiang freshwater, the Fujian—Zhejiang coastal water and the Huanghai Sea Cold Water met together. 5Lectin receptor kinase OsLecRK-S.7 is required for pollen development and male fertility显示文摘Pollen grains are covered by exine that protects the pollen from stress and facilitates pollination.Here we isolated a male sterile mutant s13283 in rice exhibiting aborted pollen with abnormal exine and defective aperture.The mutant gene encodes a novel plasma membrane-localized legume-lectin receptor kinase that we named OsLecRK-S.7.OsLecRK-S.7 was expressed at different levels in all tested tissues and throughout anther development.In vitro kinase assay showed OsLecRK-S.7 capable of autophosporylation.Mutation in s13283(E560K)and mutation of the conserved ATP binding site(K418E)both knocked out the kinase activity.Mass spectrometry showed Thr376,Ser378,Thr386,Thr403,and Thr657 to be the autophosphorylation sites.Mutation of individual autophosphorylation site affected the in vitro kinase activity to different degrees,but did not abolish the gene function in fertility complementation.oslecrk-s.7 mutant plant overexpressing OsLecRK-S.7 recovered male fertility but showed severe growth retardation with reduced number of tillers,and these phenotypes were abolished by E560K or K418E mutation.The results indicated that OsLecRK-S.7 was a key regulator of pollen development.Xiaoqun Peng Menglong Wang Yiqi Li Wei Yan Zhenyi Chang Zhufeng Chen Chunjue Xu Chengwei Yang Xing Wang Deng Jianxin Wu Xiaoyan Tang 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,8:4
6GDSL esterase/lipases OsGELP34 and OsGELP110/OsGELP115 are essential for rice pollen development显示文摘Pollen exine contains complex biopolymers of aliphatic lipids and phenolics.Abnormal development of pollen exine often leads to plant sterility.Molecular mechanisms regulating exine formation have been studied extensively but remain ambiguous.Here we report the analyses of three GDSL esterase/lipase protein genes,OsGELP34,OsGELP110,and OsGELP115,for rice exine for-mation.OsGELP34 was identified by cloning of a male sterile mutant gene.OsGELP34 encodes an endoplasmic reticulum protein and was mainly expressed in anthers during pollen exine formation.osgelp34 mutant displayed abnormal exine and altered expression of a number of key genes required for pollen development.OsGELP110 was previously identified as a gene differentially expressed in meiotic anthers.OsGELP110 was most homologous to OsGELP115,and the two genes showed similar gene expression patterns.Both OsGELP110 and OsGELP115 proteins were localized in peroxisomes.Individual knockout of OsGELP110 and OsGELP115 did not affect the plant fertility,but double knockout of both genes altered the exine structure and rendered the plant male sterile.OsGELP34 is distant from OsGELP110 and OsGELP115 in sequence,and osgelp34 and osgelp110/osgelp115 mutants were different in anther morphology despite both were male sterile.These results suggested that OsGELP34 and OsGELP110/OsGELP115 catalyze different compounds for pollen exine development.Huihui Zhang Menglong Wang Yiqi Li Wei Yan Zhenyi Chang Haoling Ni Zhufeng Chen Jianxin Wu Chunjue Xu Xing Wang Deng Xiaoyan Tang 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,10:4
7Climate change response to astronomical forcing during the Oligocene-Miocene transition in the equatorial Atlantic(ODP Site 926)显示文摘The Oligocene-Miocene transition period was characterized by a decrease in global CO2 levels, expansion of polar ice sheet, fall in global sea-level, etc. However, the reasons for, and mechanisms of, this global, extreme-cold climate change event(Mi-1) still remain controversial. Our samples from the core of the Ocean Drilling Program(ODP) Leg 154, Site 926, located in the equatorial Atlantic, mainly consist of light-gray, nannofossil chalk with foraminifers interbedded with greenish-gray, clayey, nannofossil chalk sediments. Color variation from light-gray layers(up to 80% carbonate content) to dark layers(60% carbonate content) was observed to occur cyclically at the meter scale. Therefore, we chose color reflectance lightness(L*) data as the paleoclimate proxy on which to perform cyclostratigraphic analysis because it could reflect carbonate content changes. Based on the recognition of the 405 kyr long eccentricity and 40 kyr obliquity cycles of the L* series, we tuned the series to establish an absolute astronomical time scale using the published age of the Oligocene-Miocene boundary(OMB) as the anchor for an absolute age control point. The power spectra of the tuned L* series showed that the long eccentricity signals became significantly weak, while the obliquity signals became strong, from the Late Oligocene to the Early Miocene. The 405 kyr long eccentricity minimum coincided with the 1.2 Myr obliquity node at the OMB, and similar convergences might be closely related to other extreme-cold events in Earth’s history. In addition, the sedimentation accumulation rate, oxygen isotopes of benthonic foraminifers, and rodents’ per-taxon turnover rate from Central Spain showed the same 2 Myr cyclicity, which indicates the significant influence of Earth-orbital forcing on the Earth system and ecological evolution on the million-year time scale.ZOU ZhuoYan HUANG ChunJu LI MingSong ZHANG Yang 2016Science China Earth Sciences2016,59,8:3
8Oxidized mitochondrial DNA sensing by STING signaling promotes the antitumor effect of an irradiated immunogenic cancer cell vaccine显示文摘Exposure to ionizing radiation,a physical treatment that inactivates live tumor cells,has been extensively applied to enhance the antitumor responses induced by cancer cell vaccines in both animal research and human clinical trials.However,the mechanisms by which irradiated cells function as immunogenic tumor vaccines and induce effective antitumor responses have not been fully explored.Here,we demonstrate that oxidized mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)and stimulator of interferon genes(STING)signaling play a key roles in the enhanced antitumor effect achieved with an irradiated tumor cell vaccine.Elevations in ROS and oxidized mtDNA 8-OHG content could be induced in irradiated tumor cells.Oxidized mtDNA derived from irradiated tumor cells gained access to the cytosol of dendritic cells(DCs).Oxidized mtDNA,as a DAMP or adjuvant,activated the STING-TBK1-IRF3-IFN-β pathway in DCs,which subsequently cross-presented irradiated tumor cell-derived antigens to CD8^(+)T cells and elicited antitumor immunity.The results of our study provide insight into the mechanism by which an irradiated cell vaccine mediates antitumor immunity,which may have implications for new strategies to improve the efficacy of irradiated vaccines.Chunju Fang Fei Mo Li Liu Jing Du Min Luo Ke Men Feifei Na Wei Wang Hanshuo Yang Xiawei Wei 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,9:2

14Thermodynamic assessment of the Bi-Mg binary system显示文摘The Bi-Mg binary system had been assessed by adopting the ionic melt and the modified quasi-chemical models to describe the liquid phase with short range ordering behavior. In general considerations of the development of the thermodynamic database of the multi-component Mg-based alloys and the consistency of the thermodynamic models of the related phases, the Gibbs energy descriptions of all the phases in the Bi-Mg binary system were reasonably re-modeled and critically re-assessed in the present work. Especially for the liquid phase, the associate model was used with the constituent species Bi, Mg and Bi2Mg3. The Mg-rich terminal phase hcp_A3 was modeled as a substitutional solution following Redlich-Kister equation and the Bi-rich terminal phase Rhombohedral_A7 was treated as a pure Bi substance since the extremely small solubility of Mg in Bi. The low and high temperature non- stoichiometric compounds β-Bi2Mg3 and α-Bi2Mg3 were described by the sublattice models (Bi,Va)2Mg3 and (Bi)1(Bi,Va)3Mg6 respectively based on their structure features. 16Dielectric properties of edible fungi powder related to radio-frequency and microwave drying显示文摘Edible fungi are rich in nutrition,but they are susceptible to spoilage,and often prolonged by drying.RF and microwave energy drying have the advantages of short drying time,high energy efficiency and good process control.However,to develop an effective dielectric drying method,it is important to understand dielectric properties,the major factor characterizing the interaction between the electromagnetic energy and the food.At present,there is a lack of research on dielectric properties of edible fungi.In this study,a vector network analyzer and an open-ended coaxial-line probe were employed to measure the dielectric parameters.The dielectric parameters were observed at different temperatures(25–85°C)for edible fungi powder with moisture content ranging from 5 to 30%wet basis over a frequency range of 1–3000 MHz.The relationship between the dielectric properties and frequency,temperature,and moisture content were obtained via regression analysis.Further,the dielectric penetration depth was calculated,and the effects of frequency,moisture content,and temperature on the penetration depth were also analyzed.The results showed that the dielectric properties of edible fungi powder increased with an increase in moisture content and temperature,while they decreased with increasing frequency.At high moisture content and temperature,the increase in dielectric properties was slightly larger than that at low moisture content and temperature.The dielectric properties changed more evidently at lower radio frequencies than at higher radio frequencies.The penetration depth decreased with an increase in temperature,moisture content,and frequency.It can be concluded that a large penetration depth at radio frequencies below 100 MHz could be used to dry edible fungi on a large scale,whereas microwave energy could be employed for drying edible fungi on a small scale.Siying Qi Jiping Han Camel Lagnika Ning Jiang Chunlu Qian Chunquan Liu Dajing Li Yang Tao Zhifang Yu Libin Wang Zhongyuan Zhang Chunju Liu Yadong Xiao Min Zhang 2021Food Production, Processing and Nutrition2021,3,1:0

18Orbital and Millennial-Scale Climate Variability over the Past 76 ka in the Western Tarim Basin, Northwest China显示文摘Paleoclimate changes during the last glacial in the arid central Asia are not as well understood as the monsoon-dominated areas of Asia. Here we report a 75-m-long sediment core over past 120 kyr based on astronomical tuning combined with the optically stimulated luminescence(OSL) dating in the Kashi depression of the western Tarim Basin, Northwest China. Analysis of grain size and highresolution gamma ray(GR) logs from the KT11 borehole across the last glacial period yields a climate history for the Tarim Basin which reflects the variations of its temperature and the hydrological cycles. Comparison of these records with north hemisphere summer insolation, the Greenland ice core temperature, stalagmites and the loess from the nearby region indicates that the deposits in the fluvio-lacustrine system of the Kashi depression responded to climate change at the Younger Dryas(YD), six Heinrich cooling events and the Dansgaard-Oeschger cycles.
