1Risk factors for the gastric cardia cancer: a case-control study in Fujian Province显示文摘AIM: The incidence of gastric cardia cancer has greatlyincreased in the past 2-3 decades, however, the risk factorsfor the disease are still not clearly understood. Theinvestigations among Chinese population on the risk factorsof gastric cardia cancer were also scarcely reported. Wetherefore conducted a case-control study in Fujian province,China, to investigate the potential risk and protective factorsof this disease.METHODS: 191 cardia and 190 non-cardia gastric cancercases, and a total of 222 control cases were included in thisstudy. Standard questionnaires were used in collectingepidemiological factors and the data were then analyzed bythe unconditional logistic regression model.RESULTS: As the factors such as age, gender, smoking,alcohol consumption, and family history of gastric cancerwere controlled, a multivariable analysis was conducted,which revealed that there was a significant correlationbetween the dietary habits such as irregular meal, over andfast eating, and the gastric cardia cancer with the odds ratios(ORs) of 4.2 (95 % confidence interval: 2.3-7.7), 4.7 (2.1-10.8), and 2.7 (1.3-5.3) respectively. Other correlations werealso observed between the gastric cardia cancer and theconsumption of salty fish or pickled vegetable, smoking,and the family cancer history with the ORs of 5.5 (1.4-19.5),1.8 (1.0-3.0), 2.1 (1.3-3.5), and 3.8 (2.3-6.2) respectively.In contrast, the negative correlations were found existingbetween the intake of fresh vegetables and fruits, the useof refrigerator, and the gastric cardia cancer, with the ORsof 0.4 (0.2-0.9), 0.2 (0.1-0.5), and 0.2 (0.1-0.4),respectively. However, dietary habits were associated lesswith non-cardia gastric cancer compared with its cardiacounterpart.CONCLUSION: Dietary habits might be one of the riskfactors for the cardia carcinogenesis among Chinesepopulation.LinCai Zong-LiZheng Zuo-FengZhang 2003World Journal of Gastroenterology2003,9,2:30
2The Effect of Nitric Oxide on the Growth of Marine Phytoplankton显示文摘The incubation experiments of Skeletonema costatum, Dicrateria zhanjiangensis nov. sp., and Platymonas subcordiformis, and those of Emiliania huxleyi were carried out in the Marine Physical Chemistry Laboratory in Ocean University of China and in the Marine Organic Geochemistry Laboratory in the University of Georgia respectively. Nitric oxide was added into the media when these marine microalgae were growing. We found the grovth of these four microalgae were promoted or inhibited when nitric oxide of different concentrations was added one or two times each day during the cultivation process. The results are consistent with the influence of nitric oxide on the growth of high plants. 3Synthesis, isolation and characterization of methyl levulinate from cellulose catalyzed by extremely low concentration acid显示文摘A direct synthesis of methyl levulinate from cellulose alcoholysis in methanol medium under mild condition(180 210 C)catalyzed by extremely low concentration sulfuric acid(0.01 mol/L)and the product isolation were developed in this study.Effects of different process variables towards the catalytic performance were performed as a function of reaction time.The results indicated that sulfuric acid concentration,temperature and initial cellulose concentration had significant effects on the synthesis of methyl levulinate.An optimized yield of around 50%was achieved at 210 C for 120 min with sulfuric acid concentration of 0.01 mol/L and initial cellulose concentration below 100 g/L.The resulting product mixture was isolated by a distillation technique that combines an atmospheric distillation with a vacuum distillation where n-dodecane was added to help distill the heavy fraction.The light fraction including mainly methanol could be reused as the reaction medium without any substantial change in the yield of methyl levulinate.The chemical composition and structural of lower heavy fraction were characterized by GC/MS,FTIR,1H-NMR and13C-NMR techniques.Methyl levulinate was found to be a major ingredient of lower heavy fraction with the content over 96%.This pathway is efficient,environmentally benign and economical for the production of pure levulinate esters from cellulose.Hui Li Lincai Peng Lu Lin Keli Chen Heng Zhang 2013Journal of Energy Chemistry2013,22,6:9
4Cytochrome p450 2E1 polymorphisms and the risk of gastric cardia cancer显示文摘AIM: Genetic polymorphisms of drug-metabolizing enzymes have recently been shown to affect susceptibility to chemical carcinogenesis. Cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1)enzyme catalyzes the metabolism of many procarcinogens,such as N-nitrosamines and related compounds. The gene coding for this enzyme is polymorphic and thus may play a role in gastric cardia cancer (GCC) etiology. In this hospital-based case-control study, we evaluate the relationship between genetic polymorphisms of CYP2E1and the risk of GCC.METHODS: The study subjects comprised 159 histologically confirmed GCC cases identified via hospital cancer registry and surgical records at five hospitals in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China, between April and November 2001.Controls were 192 patients admitted to the same hospitals for nonmalignant conditions. The genotypes of CYP2E1were detected by a PCR-based RFLP assay. The odds ratios were estimated by logistic regression analyses and were adjusted for potential confounding factors.RESULTS: The distribution of three genotypes of CYP2E1in GCC cases and controls was significantly different (X2 = 16.04, P<0.01). The frequency of the CYP2E1 (c1/c1)genotype in GCC cases and controls was 60.4% and 40.1%,respectively. The CYP2E1 (c1/c1) genotype was associated with an increased risk for GCC (the adjusted (OR) was 2.37, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.52-3.70). Subjects who carried the CYP2E 1 (c1/c1) genotype and were habitual smokers were at a significantly higher risk of developing GCC (OR = 4.68, 95%CI: 2.19-10.04) compared with those who had the CYP2E1 (c1/c2or c2/c2') genotype and did not smoke.CONCLUSION: These results suggest that the CYP2E 1genotype may influence individual susceptibility to development of GCC, and that the risk increases significantly in smokers.LinCai Zong-LiZheng Zuo-FengZhang 2005World Journal of Gastroenterology2005,11,12:8

6Effects of Zr/Ti molar ratio in SO_4^(2-)/ZrO_(2-)TiO_2 calcined at different temperatures on its surface properties and glucose reactivity in near-critical methanol显示文摘Effects of Zr/Ti molar ratio in SO42-/ZrO2-TiO2 solid acid catalyst calcined at different temperatures on its surface properties and catalytic activity were thoroughly investigated in this paper. The physicochemical characteristics of prepared samples were determined by N2 adsorptiondesorption, XRD, NH3-TPD and XPS techniques, respectively. It was found that the crystallization temperature of the samples increased after the combination of ZrO2 and TiO2; and phase transformations from the anatase to the rutile of TiO2 species and the tetragonal to the monoclinic of ZrO2 species were effectively suppressed at higher temperature. The sample with a Zr/Ti molar ratio of 3/1 calcined at 450℃ showed the highest surface area and the most acid sites among all the tested samples. The acid site densities of samples were relatively closed to each other if they were calcined at the same temperature, however, decreased with the calcination temperature. The result indicates that the sulfur content in samples is a crucial factor to control the acid site density. Calcining the sample at 650℃ and higher temperatures resulted in a significant desorption of sulfate ion on the samples. The synthesized samples were evaluated as a potential catalyst for glucose conversion under the near-critical methanol conditions (200℃/4 MPa). The results suggested that the relatively weaker acid sites of the catalyst were more favorable for the accumulation of methyl glucosides, while the moderate acid sites were responsible for the formation of methyl levulinate. The catalytic activity for methyl levulinate production almost increases linearly with the catalyst acid site density. The catalyst deactivation is due to the loss of sulfate ion and the two catalysts with Zr/Ti molar ratios of 3/1 and 1/3 could effectively alleviate the deactivation caused by sulfate solution in the reaction medium and can be reused after calcination with the reuse rate of over 90% in terms of the methyl levulinate selectivity.Lincai Peng Junping Zhuang Lu Lin 2012Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2012,21,2:3

13Experimental investigation of liquid water in flow field of proton exchange membrane fuel cell by combining X-ray with EIS technologies显示文摘The flow field is a pivotal part to manage the transport of water and gas in proton exchange membrane fuel cell.However,the reported water measurement methods(e.g.,X-ray and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS))cannot give a comprehensive understanding water distribution in the flow field,resulting in challenges in optimizing the channel design and enhancing fuel cell performance.Therefore,we propose a water measurement method combining the X-ray radiography with EIS to investigate the effect of different operating conditions on the growth law and distribution of liquid water in parallel and serpentine flow fields.The attenuation coefficient of liquid water to X-ray is calibrated with constant tube-current and tubevoltage of X-ray generator.Besides,the parallel flow field with hydrophobic treatment is studied.The results show that the water accumulation of the parallel flow field is far more than the serpentine flow field,and the water content of the middle region is higher than that of other regions in the parallel flow field.Furthermore,operating conditions(cathode inlet gas flow rate,inlet gas humidity,and back pressure)have little effect on the liquid water content of the middle region in the parallel flow field.The polarization curve,EIS result,and X-ray radiography show that the performance and water drainage capacity of the hydrophobic parallel flow field are better than the normal one.TONGSH Chasen LIANG YiQi XIE Xu LI LinCai LIU Zhi DU Qing JIAO Kui 2021Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,10:0
14Comparative techno-economic analysis of large-scale renewable energy storage technologies显示文摘Energy storage is an effective way to address the instability of renewable energy generation modes,such as wind and solar,which are projected to play an important role in the sustainable and low-carbon society.Economics and carbon emissions are important indicators that should be thoroughly considered for evaluating the feasibility of energy storage technologies(ESTs).In this study,we study two promising routes for large-scale renewable energy storage,electrochemical energy storage(EES)and hydrogen energy storage(HES),via technical analysis of the ESTs.The levelized cost of storage(LCOS),carbon emissions and uncertainty assessments for EESs and HESs over the life cycle are conducted with full consideration of the critical links for these routes.In order to reduce the evaluation error,we use the Monte Carlo method to derive a large number of data for estimating the economy and carbon emission level of ESTs based on the collected data.The results show that lithium ion(Li-ion)batteries show the lowest LCOS and carbon emissions,at 0.314 US$kWh-1 and 72.76 g CO_(2) e kWh^(-1),compared with other batteries for EES.Different HES routes,meaning different combinations of hydrogen production,delivery and refueling methods,show substantial differences in economics,and the lowest LCOS and carbon emissions,at 0.227 US$kWh^(-1) and 61.63 gCO_(2) e kWh^(-1),are achieved using HES routes that involve hydrogen production by alkaline electrolyzer(AE),delivery by hydrogen pipeline and corresponding refueling.The findings of this study suggest that HES and EES have comparable levels of economics and carbon emissions that should be both considered for large-scale renewable energy storage to achieve future decarbonization goals.Lincai Li Bowen Wang Kui Jiao Meng Ni Qing Du Yanli Liu Bin Li Guowei Ling Chengshan Wang 2023Energy and AI2023,14,4:0
15Heterogeneously-catalyzed aerobic oxidation of furfural to furancarboxylic acid with CuO-Promoted MnO_(2)显示文摘A cost-effective and sustainable noble-metal free catalyst system based on ubiquitously available Mn-Cu bimetallic oxides was served as efficient catalysts for furfural selective oxidation to furancarboxylic acid(FA). Interestingly, Mn_(2)Cu_(1)O_(x)exhibited an excellent furfural conversion of 99% with quantitative selectivity toward FA. Especially, we demonstrate the significant weakening of the Mn-O bonds with the incorporation of CuO into the Mn-Cu oxides, resulting in an improved OLreactivity of Mn_(2)Cu_(1)O_(x), which brings about a higher catalytic activity for furfural oxidation. More importantly, Mn_(2)Cu_(1)O_(x)could exhibit YFA>90% over 5 cycles of reusability test.
