| 2 | Carbon and nitrogen storage in an age-sequence of Pinus densiflora stands in Korea显示文摘The carbon(C) and nitrogen(N) storage capabilities of Pinus densiflora in six different stand ages(10,27,30,32,44,and 71 years old) were investigated in Korea.Thirty sample trees were destructively harvested and 12 were excavated.Samples from the above and belowground tree components,coarse woody debris(CWD),forest floor,and mineral soil(0-30 cm) were collected.Tree biomass was highest in the 71-year-old stand(202.8 t ha-1) and lowest in the 10-year-old stand(18.4 t ha-1).C and N storage in the mineral soil was higher in the 71-year-old stand than in the other stands,mainly due to higher soil C and N concentrations.Consequently,the total ecosystem C and N storage(tree+forest floor+CWD+soil) was positively correlated with stand age:increasing from a minimum in the 10 year old stand(18.8 t C ha-1 and 1.3 t N ha-1) to a maximum in the 71-year-old stand(201.4 t C ha-1 and 8.5 t N ha-1).The total ecosystem C storage showed a similar sigmoidal pattern to that of tree C storage as a function of the age-sequence,while N storage in the CWD,forest floor and mineral soil showed no significant temporal trends.Our results provide important insights that will increase our understanding of C and N storage in P.densiflora stands and our ability to predict changes according to stand age in the region. | NOH Nam-Jin SON Yowhan LEE Sue-Kyoung SEO Kyung-Won HEO Su-Jin1 YI Myong-Jong PARK Pil-Sun KIM Rae-Hyun SON Yeong-Mo LEE Kyeong-Hak | 2010 | Science China(Life Sciences)2010,53,7: | 24 |

| 5 | Effects of biochar-based fertilizers on nutrient leaching in a tobacco-planting soil显示文摘Biochar is a soil amendment for increasing soil quality and decreasing nutrient leaching. However, there is little information on the impact of biochar-based fertilizer(BF) on soil nutrient leaching in agricultural soils. We conducted a soil column leaching experiment to study the effects of BF on the leaching of total nitrogen(TN), total phosphorus, and total potassium(TK) in tobacco soils. The distribution characteristics of NH_4^+-N, available P, and available K in soil profiles were analyzed after the application of BF. Biochar was prepared by pyrolysis of fluecured tobacco stems. It was applied at four levels, 0%, 3%,9%, and 15%(w/w), respectively, to the compound fertilizer. Compared with the control, the leaching loss of soil TN decreased by 8.36%, 6.72%, and 6.45%, and the loss of soil TK decreased by 9.18%, 9.31% and 11.82% in the 3%,9%, and 15% BF treatments, respectively. However, BF had no significant effect on the P leaching due to the low movement of P in the soil profile. In addition, the BF addition increased the immobilization of NH_4^+-N, available P, and available K in the soil profile. | 6 | Calcium signaling and T-type calcium channels in cancer cell cycling显示文摘Regulation of intracellular calcium is an important signaling mechanism for cell proliferation in both normal and cancerous cells. In normal epithelial cells, free calcium concentration is essential for cells to enter and accomplish the S phase and the M phase of the cell cycle. In contrast, cancerous cells can pass these phases of the cell cycle with much lower cytoplasmic free calcium concentrations, indicating an alternative mechanism has developed for fulfilling the intracellular calcium requirement for an increased rate of DNA synthesis and mitosis of fast replicating cancerous cells. The detailed mechanism underlying the altered calcium loading pathway remains unclear; however, there is a growing body of evidence that suggests the T-type Ca2+ channel is abnormally expressed in cancerous cells and that blockade of these channels may reduce cell proliferation in addition to inducing apoptosis. Recent studies also show that the expression of T-type Ca2+ channels in breast cancer cells is proliferation state dependent, i.e. the channels are expressed at higher levels during the fast-replication period, and once the cells are in a non-proliferation state, expression of this channel isminimal. Therefore, selectively blocking calcium entry into cancerous cells may be a valuable approach for preventing tumor growth. | 7 | Improved corrosion resistance and thermal stability of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets with holmium substitution显示文摘The effects of Ho substitution for Nd on the microstructure, corrosion resistance and thermal stability of the Nd-Fe-B magnets were investigated. The(Nd,Ho)-O phase was formed with increasing Ho substitution. The results of potentiodynamic polarization and highly accelerated stress test show improved corrosion resistance with increasing Ho substitution. The optimum mass loss 0.29 mg/cm^2 is achieved.Moreover, the average temperature coefficients for remanence and coercivity in the range of 25-150℃are both closer to zero, indicating improved thermal stability. | 9 | Scalable synthesis of nanoporous silicon microparticles for highly cyclable lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Nanoporous silicon is a promising anode material for high energy density batteries due to its high cycling stability and high tap density compared to other nanostructured anode materials.However,the high cost of synthesis and low yield of nanoporous silicon limit its practical application.Here,we develop a scalable,low-cost top-down process of controlled oxidation of Mg2Si in the air,followed by HCl removal of MgO to generate nanoporous silicon without the use of HF.By controlling the synthesis conditions,the oxygen content,grain size and yield of the porous silicon are simultaneously optimized from commercial standpoints.In situ environmental transmission electron microscopy reveals the reaction mechanism;the Mg2Si microparticle reacts with O2 to form MgO and Si,while preventing SiO2 formation.Owing to the low oxygen content and microscale secondary structure,the nanoporous silicon delivers a higher initial reversible capacity and initial Coulombic efficiency compared to commercial Si nanoparticles(3,033 mAh/g vs.2,418 mAh/g,84.3%vs.73.1%).Synthesis is highly scalable,and a yield of 90.4%is achieved for the porous Si nanostructure with the capability to make an excess of 10 g per batch.Our synthetic nanoporous silicon is promising for practical applications in next generation lithium-ion batteries. | Jiangyan Wang William Huang Yong Seok Kim You Kyeong Jeong Sang Cheol Kim Jeffrey Heo Hiang Kwee Lee Bofei Liu Jaehou Nah Yi Cui | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,6: | 9 |

| 14 | Phylogenetic inferences in Prunus (Rosaceae) using chloroplast ndhF and nuclear ribosomal ITS sequences显示文摘Sequences of the chloroplast ndhF gene and the nuclear ribosomal ITS regions are employed to recon-struct the phylogeny of Prunus (Rosaceae), and evaluate the classification schemes of this genus. The two data sets are congruent in that the genera Prunus s.l. and Maddenia form a monophyletic group, with Maddenia nested within Prunus. However, the ndhF data set is incongruent with the ITS data supporting two major groups within Prunus: one consisting of subgenera Laurocerasus (including Pygeum) and Padus as well as the genus Maddenia and another of subgenera Amygdalus, Cerasus, and Prunus. The ITS data, on the other hand, support a clade composed of subgenera Amygdalus and Prunus and Prunus sect. Microcerasus in addition to a paraphyletic grade of subgenera Laurocerasus and Padus (and the genus Maddenia) taxa. In general, the subgeneric classifications of Prunus s.l. are not supported. The ITS and ndhF phylogenies differ mainly in interspecific relationships and the relative position of the Padus/Laurocerasus group. Both ITS and ndhF data sets suggest that the formerly recog-nized genus Pygeum is polyphyletic and that the distinction of the subgenera Padus and Laurocerasus is not supported. The biogeographic interactions of the temperate and tropical members in the Padus/Laurocera- sus/Maddenia alliance including Pygeum are shown to be highly dynamic and complex. | Jun WEN Scott T. | 15 | Redefining Budd-Chiari syndrome:A systematic review显示文摘AIM:To re-examine whether hepatic vein thrombosis(HVT)(classical Budd-Chiari syndrome)and hepatic vena cava-Budd Chiari syndrome(HVC-BCS)are the same disorder.METHODS:A systematic review of observational studies conducted in adult subjects with primary BCS,hepatic vein outflow tract obstruction,membranous obstruction of the inferior vena cava(IVC),obliterative hepatocavopathy,or HVT during the period of January2000 until February 2015 was conducted using the following databases:Cochrane Library,CINAHL,MEDLINE,Pub Med and Scopus.RESULTS:Of 1299 articles identified,26 were included in this study.Classical BCS is more common in women with a pure hepatic vein obstruction(49%-74%).HVCBCS is more common in men with the obstruction often located in both the inferior vena cava and hepatic veins(14%-84%).Classical BCS presents with acute abdominal pain,ascites,and hepatomegaly.HVC-BCS presents with chronic abdominal pain and abdominalwall varices.Myeloproliferative neoplasms(MPN)are the most common etiology of classical BCS(16%-62%)with the JAK2V617-F mutation found in 26%-52%.In HVCBCS,MPN are found in 4%-5%,and the JAK2V617-F mutation in 2%-5%.Classical BCS responds well to medical management alone and 1st line management of HVC-BCS involves percutaneous recanalization,with few managed with medical management alone.CONCLUSION:Systematic review of recent data suggests that classical BCS and HVC-BCS may be two clinically different disorders that involve the disruption of hepatic venous outflow. | Naomi Shin Young H Kim Hao Xu Hai-Bin Shi Qing-Qiao Zhang Jean Paul Colon Pons Ducksoo Kim Yi Xu Fei-Yun Wu Samuel Han Byung-Boong Lee Lin-Sun Li | 2016 | World Journal of Hepatology2016,8,16: | 6 |
