4Gradient carbonyl-iron/carbon-fiber reinforced composite metamaterial for ultra-broadband electromagnetic wave absorption by multi-scale integrated design显示文摘The demand of high-end electromagnetic wave absorbing materials puts forward higher requirements on comprehensive performances of small thickness,lightweight,broadband,and strong absorption.Herein,a novel multi-layer stepped metamaterial absorber with gradient electromagnetic properties is proposed.The complex permittivity and permeability of each layer are tailored via the proportion of carbonyliron and carbon-fiber dispersing into the epoxy resin.The proposed metamaterial is further optimized via adjusting the electromagnetic parameters and geometric sizes of each layer.Comparing with the four-layer composite with gradient electromagnetic properties which could only realize reflection loss(RL)of less than−6 dB in 2.0-40 GHz,the optimized stepped metamaterial with the same thickness and electromagnetic properties realizes less than−10 dB in the relevant frequency range.Additionally,the RL of less than−15 dB is achieved in the frequency range of 11.2-21.4 GHz and 28.5-40 GHz.The multiple electromagnetic wave absorption mechanism is discussed based on the experimental and simulation results,which is believed to be attributed to the synergy effect induced by multi-scale structures of the metamaterial.Therefore,combining multi-layer structures and periodic stepped structures into a novel gradient absorbing metamaterial would give new insights into designing microwave absorption devices for broadband electromagnetic protections.Qian Zhou Tiantian Shi Bei Xue Shengyue Gu Wei Ren Fang Ye Xiaomeng Fan Wenyan Duan Zihan Zhang Lifei Du 2023International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2023,30,6:0
5A novel lightweight metamaterial with ultra broadband electromagnetic wave absorption induced by three-dimensional CNTs conductive-coated arrays显示文摘Lightweight metamaterials for broadband electromagnetic wave absorption have become a significant requirement for electromagnetic interference and stealth technologies.In this study,a novel lightweight metamaterial absorber with three-dimensional(3D)carbon nanotubes(CNTs)conductive-coated arrays is designed and fabricated through 3D printing and dipping process,which realized less than-10 dB reflection loss in the frequency range of 7.0–40 GHz.The effect of the sheet resistance of CNTs conductive coatings and geometric parameters of meta-structure on the frequency-dependent absorption properties is investigated,and the improved absorbing efficiency is discussed based on the synergy effect of multiscale structures of 3D conductive-coated arrays.Moreover,the volume of the proposed ultra broadband absorber is reduced by approximately 60.5%compared with that of the dense plate structure,indicating a significant lightening with efficient absorbing capacities.Additionally,the absorption bandwidth and intensity of the proposed absorber have insensitive changes with the variation of incident angle.Therefore,an ultra broadband electromagnetic absorption is designed and realized,indicating a promising lightweight ultra broadband electromagnetic absorbing candidate for lightweight metamaterial absorbers.ZHOU Qian SHI TianTian XUE Bei GU ShengYue REN Wei YE Fang FAN XiaoMeng ZHANG YuXin QI ChenXi DU LiFei 2023Science China(Technological Sciences)2023,66,3:0

7Insights into varicella-zoster virus assembly from the B-and C-capsid at near-atomic resolution structures显示文摘Varicella-zoster is a highly communicable virus that can be transmitted through the airborne route.About one quarter of people are infected with this virus.Previous studies have described the structure of A-capsid and a blurred reconstruction of the C-capsid with icosahedral symmetry.In this study,we have determined the more precise detailed structures of the varicella-zoster virus(VZV)B-and C-capsid in icosahedral symmetry using a combination of block-based reconstruction and symmetry relaxation strategies.In addition,we are reporting structural details of the portal vertex reconstructions in five-fold symmetry and portal reconstructions in twelve-fold symmetry.The structures unveil the basis for the high thermal stability of the VZV capsid.The conformational flexibility of structural elements of the capsid plays a role in the assembly of the capsid and drives processes critical for the viral life cycle.The results of the study open up new avenues for the development of drugs against a highly prevalent and contagious pathogen.Lei Cao Nan Wang Zhe Lv Wenyuan Chen Zhonghao Chen Lifei Song Xueyan Sha Guiqiang Wang Yaling Hu Xiaojun Lian Guoliang Cui Jinyan Fan Yaru Quan Hongrong Liu Hai Hou Xiangxi Wang 2024hLife2024,2,2:0
8Effect of Extrusion Combination Types on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of the AZ31/GW103K Bimetallic Composite Plates显示文摘The AZ31/GW103 K bimetallic composite plates were prepared by co-extrusion of different combination types(sandwich extrusion type and double semicircle extrusion type),and effects of different extrusion combination types on the microstructure and mechanical properties of bimetallic composite plates were systematically investigated.The results show that both the AZ31/GW103 K bimetallic composite plates prepared by different extrusion combination types have good metallurgical bonding,and changing the combination type does not affect the thickness of the interfacial transition layer of composite plates.Compared with the monolithic AZ31 and GW103 K extruded plates,co-extrusion can promote the dynamic recrystallization(DRX)of AZ31 and GW103 K components in composite plates,and double semicircular extrusion type has a better promotion effect on the DRX than sandwich extrusion type.In addition,the texture of AZ31 in both monolithic AZ31 and AZ31/GW103 K/AZ31(A/G/A)plates is a typical(0002)basal texture,while that in the AZ31/GW103 K(A/G)composite plate shifts to the tangent direction(TD)of extruded plate.Compared with the monolithic AZ31 extruded plate,both the yield strength and tensile strength of A/G and A/G/A bimetallic composite plates are significantly improved.The strength of A/G/A composite plate is higher than that of A/G composite plate,but its elongation is worse.Meanwhile,co-extrusion reduces the dislocation density of AZ31 and GW 103 K components in composite plates,and different extrusion combination types also affect the dislocation density.Yunpeng Meng Boyu Lin Lifei Wang Jianfeng Fan Shangzhou Zhang Liwei Lu Hans Jφrgen Roven Hua Zhang 2022Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2022,35,12:0
9Ultrasound responsive microcapsules for antibacterial nanodrug delivery显示文摘The development of ultrasound-responsive microcapsule structures has resulted in several spatiotemporally controlled drug delivery systems for macromolecular cargoes,including proteins,nucleic acids,and even cells for biomedical applications.However,utilizing microcapsules to transport small molecular cargoes remains a challenge,because the leakage of drugs before ultrasound irradiation might cause side effects such as the undesired toxicity and the decrease of effective drug concentration at the target site.Herein,we present a novel strategy to tackle these shortcomings by employing nanodrugs which refers to nanoparticles coated with small molecule drugs.We showed that the drug leakage was prevented when encapsulating the nanodrug in microcapsules.Moreover,the fabricated drug delivery system was responsive not only to unfocused high-intensity ultrasound but also to the clinically relevant high-intensity focused ultrasound.Finally,as a proof of concept,we showed that the antibacterial activity of the nanodrug@Microcapsules could be activated by applying ultrasound in situ.These results may provide new insights into the development of ultrasound triggered small molecule drug delivery assisted by metallic nanoparticles.Jilin Fan Mingjun Xuan Pengkun Zhao Mark Loznik Junlin Chen Fabian Kiessling Lifei Zheng Andreas Herrmann 2023Nano Research2023,16,2:0
10A DnaA-dependent riboswitch for transcription attenuation of the his operon显示文摘Transcription attenuation in response to the availability of a specific amino acid is believed to be controlled by alternative configurations of RNA secondary structures that lead to the arrest of translation or the release of the arrested ribosome from the leader mRNA molecule.In this study,we first report a possible example of the DnaA‐dependent riboswitch for transcription attenuation in Escherichia coli.We show that(i)DnaA regulates the transcription of the structural genes but not that of the leader hisL gene;(ii)DnaA might bind to rDnaA boxes present in the HisL‐SL RNA,and subsequently attenuate the transcription of the operon;(iii)the HisL‐SL RNA and rDnaA boxes are phylogenetically conserved and evolutionarily important;and(iv)the translating ribosome is required for deattenuation of the his operon,whereas tRNA^(His) strengthens attenuation.This mechanism seems to be phylogenetically conserved in Gram‐negative bacteria and evolutionarily important.Yuan Yao Hongwei Sun Wurihan Gegeheng Gezi Kirsten Skarstad Lifei Fan Morigen 2023mLife2023,2,2:0
