1Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of 06Cr13Ni4Mo Steel Treated by Quenching–Tempering–Partitioning Process显示文摘A heat treatment process,quenching-tempering-partitioning(Q-T-P),has been applied to a low carbon martensitic stainless steel 06Cr13Ni4 Mo.By using this process,ultrafine reversed austenite can be obtained at room temperature.The microstructures of the reversed austenite and the martensite matrix were characterized by transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS)in detail.The results show that the ultrafine reversed austenite is enriched in Ni resulting in the austenite stability at room temperature.Two new types of nano-scale carbide precipitates are found in the martensite matrix.Detailed analysis suggests that the two nano-scale precipitates can be identified asω phase and λ phase carbides,respectively.The orientation relationship between the ω phase and matrix is[011]α//[2110]ω and(211)α//(0110)ω,while that between the λ phase precipitate and matrix is[011]α//[0001]λ and(200)α//(1210)λ.For the present steel,the ultrafine reversed austenite and carbide precipitates obtained by Q-T-P treatment provide a good combination of high strength and toughness.Yuanyuan Song Jingping Cui Lijian Rong 2016Journal of Materials Science & Technology2016,32,2:8
2High levels of circulating GM-CSF^(+) CD4^(+) T cells are predictive of poor outcomes in sepsis patients: a prospective cohort study显示文摘Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(GM-CSF),produced by CD4^(+)T cells,has recently been implicated in the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases,such as multiple sclerosis and juvenile arthritis.However,the role of GM-CSF-producing CD4^(+)T cells in sepsis remains unknown.This study reports peripheral changes in GM-CSF-producing CD4^(+)T cells in septic patients and the possible underlying mechanism by which GM-CSF influences the outcome of sepsis.Forty-three septic patients,20 SIRS patients,and 20 healthy controls were enrolled in this study and followed for 28 days to assess mortality.We measured the peripheral frequency of GM-CSF^(+)CD4^(+)T cells and recorded their associated relationship with disease progression.Our data demonstrated that peripheral GM-CSF-producing CD4^(+)T cells were significantly higher in septic patients than in both SIRS patients and healthy controls.These cells exhibit a memory phenotype and impaired IFN-γ-secreting capacity in sepsis patients.Using a receiver operating curve analysis with 8.01%as a cut-off point,the percentage of GM-CSF^(+)CD4^(+)T cells could predict the outcome of septic patients.Combined with the increase in GM-CSF-producing CD4^(+)T cells,inflammatory cytokines IL-1βand IL-6 were also upregulated.Using an in vitro neutrophil model,we found that GM-CSF inhibited C3aR expression,while inducing IL-8 production.Furthermore,this effect was transferrable in plasma from sepsis patients and was attenuated by inhibition of GM-CSF using an anti-GM-CSF antibody.These results indicate that GM-CSF-producing CD4^(+)T cells may serve as a marker of sepsis severity.Thus,targeting GM-CSF overproduction may benefit sepsis patients.Huihuang Huang Siyu Wang Tianjun Jiang Rong Fan Zheng Zhang Jinsong Mu Ke Li Yonggang Wang Lei Jin Fang Lin Jie Xia Lijian Sun Biao Xu Chengcheng Ji Jing Chen Juan Chang Bo Tu Bing Song Chao Zhang Fu-Sheng Wang Ruonan Xu 2019Cellular & Molecular Immunology2019,16,6:6

4Taking advantage of glass:capturing and retaining the helium gas on the moon显示文摘Helium-3(3He)is a noble gas that has critical applications in scientific research and promising application potential as clean fusion energy.It is thought that the lunar regolith contains large amounts of helium,but it is challenging to extract because most helium atoms are reserved in defects of crystals or as solid solutions.Here,we find large amounts of helium bubbles in the glassy surface layer of ilmenite particles that were brought back by the Chang’E-5 mission.The special disordered atomic packing structure of glasses should be the critical factor for capturing the noble helium gas.The reserves in bubbles do not require heating to high temperatures to be extracted.Mechanical methods at ambient temperatures can easily break the bubbles.Our results provide insights into the mechanism of helium gathering on the moon and offer guidance on future in situ extraction.Ao Li Xiao Chen Lijian Song Guoxin Chen Wei Xu Juntao Huo Meng Gao Ming Li Lei Zhang Bingnan Yao Min Ji Yan Zhang Shaofan Zhao Wei Yao Yanhui Liu Jun-Qiang Wang Haiyang Bai Zhigang Zou Mengfei Yang Weihua Wang 2022Materials Futures2022,1,3:2

10Effect of Nanoscale Cu-Riched Clusters on Strength and Impact Toughness in a Tempered Cu-Bearing HSLA Steel显示文摘The effect of Cu-riched clusters on strength and impact toughness in a tempered Cu-bearing high-strength low-alloy(HSLA)steel is investigated. With increasing the tempering temperature, it is found that the yield strength increases firstly, achieving the maximum value(~ 1053 MPa) at the tempering temperature of 450 ℃, and then decreases significantly with the rise of tempering temperature. The tempering temperature-dependent yield strength is closely related to the precipitation of Cu-riched clusters. When tempering at 450 ℃, the peak strength will be reached as the nanoscale Cu-riched clusters with small size and high number density will cause a strong precipitation strengthening(~ 492 MPa) due to the dislocation shearing mechanism. However, the Cu-riched clusters will coarsen with further increasing tempering temperature, resulting in obvious decrement of yield strength owing to the dislocation bypassing mechanism. Compared with the yield strength,the variation in impact energy displays an inverse tendency and the impact energy is only 7 J for the sample tempered at 450 ℃. The fracture mode can be well explained by the competition between the cleavage fracture strength( σ F) and “yield strength”( σ Y). Although transgranular cleavage fracture can be found in samples tempered at 450 and 550 °C, the crack propagation along the lath boundaries is prevented in the sample tempered at 550 ℃. 11Unveiling the time-temperature dependence of metastability of supercooled liquid using nano-calorimetry显示文摘There is a lack of understanding of both the conversion of an unstable glass into a metastable supercooled liquid(MSL) upon heating and the metastability of MSLs. In this study, we investigated the time-and temperature-dependent metastability of an MSL using an advanced nano-calorimetric technique. The chosen Au-based metallic glass(Au MG) allowed adequate probing of its MSL in a temperature range between 10 and 70 K above the standard glass transition temperature. We found that the survival time of the MSL state is a quadratic function of temperature. Beyond this duration threshold, the sample undergoes fast crystallization even if it is below the crystallization temperature that is measured using differential scanning calorimetry.Employing transmission electron microscopy, we observed the formation of clusters with a partially ordered lattice structure during relaxation in the Au MG sample fabricated using a nano-calorimeter. The atomic ordering within the clusters was enhanced by increasing time and temperature in the MSL region. Once the as-produced glass entered the MSL stage upon heating followed by a quenching stage at a given rate, the mechanical properties of the quenched glass remained the same regardless of its holding temperature and duration within the MSL region. 12Abnormal relaxation kinetics in D-mannitol glass confined by nanoporous alumina显示文摘The relaxation kinetics and phase transformations of the confined D-mannitol(DM)in nanoporous alumina are studied in-situ using a high-precision nano-calorimeter.We find that the crystallization behavior can be suppressed when it is confined in nanopores smaller than 50 nm.The confined DM glass has a much smaller fragility(~76)than free DM glass(~125),confirming the enhanced glass-forming ability.It is intriguing that during isothermal annealing both the confined and free DM glasses relaxation kinetics experience two relaxation stages that have distinct activation energies.The relaxation activation energy of the confined glass is about 25%-29%smaller than the free glass,which is attributed to the reduced dimensionality.The abnormal kinetics observed in the confined DM glass open a new avenue for preparing stable glasses.YaRu Cao LiJian Song Ao Li JunTao Huo FuShan Li Wei Xu Jun-Qiang Wang 2020Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2020,63,7:0
13Influence of thermal history on the crystallization behavior of high-Bs Fe-based amorphous alloys显示文摘A crucial step in creating cutting-edge soft magnetic alloys is the nanocrystallization of Fe-based amorphous alloys.However,it is unclear how the thermal history affects the nanocrystallization.In this work,high-precision nanocalorimetry and in-situ hightemperature transmission electron microscopy are used to systematically examine how the pre-annealing relaxation process affects the nanocrystallization of Fe-based amorphous alloys.We discover that the glass with more thermal energy storage will crystallize into superb nanocrystalline structures with exceptionally advanced soft magnetism.The soft magnetic properties of Fe-B nanocrystalline alloys can be improved by increasing the relaxation temperature.This finding provides solid and clear evidence for the influences of thermal history on crystallization behavior for Fe-based amorphous alloys,which is helpful for designing advanced soft magnetic nanocrystalline alloys.Bowen Zang Lijian Song Richard Parsons Jie Shen Meng Gao Yan Zhang Juntao Huo Yonghao Sun Fushan Li Kiyonori Suzuki Jun-Qiang Wang Weihua Wang 2023Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2023,66,5:0

15Maize cryptochromes 1a1 and 1a2 promote seedling photomorphogenesis and shade resistance in Zea mays and Arabidopsis显示文摘Maize growth and development are regulated by light quality,intensity and photoperiod.Cryptochromes are blue/ultraviolet-A light receptors involved in stem elongation,shade avoidance,and photoperiodic flowering.To investigate the function of cryptochrome 1(CRY1) in maize,where it is encoded by Zm CRY1,we obtained two Zm CRY1a genes(Zm CRY1a1 and Zm CRY1a2),both of which share the highest similarity with other gramineous plants,in particular rice CRY1a by phylogenetic analysis.In Arabidopsis,overexpression of Zm CRY1a genes promoted seedling de-etiolation under blue and white light,resulting in dwarfing of mature plants.In seedlings of the maize inbred line Zong 31(Zm CRY1aOE),overexpression of Zm CRY1a genes caused a reduction in the mesocotyl and first leaf sheath lengths due to down-regulation of genes influencing cell elongation.In mature transgenic maize plants,plant height,ear height,and internode length decreased in response to overexpression of Zm CRY1a genes.Expression of Zm CRY1a were insensitive to low blue light(LBL)-induced shade avoidance syndrome(SAS) in Arabidopsis and maize.This prompted us to investigate the regulatory role of the gibberellin and auxin metabolic pathways in the response of Zm CRY1a genes to LBL treatment.We confirmed a link between Zm CRY1a expression and hormonal influence on the growth and development of maize under LBL-induced SAS.These results reveal that Zm CRY1a has a relatively conservative function in regulating maize photomorphogenesis and may guide new strategies for breeding high density-tolerant maize cultivars.Xiaocong Fan Shizhan Chen Wenjing Wu Meifang Song Guanghua Sun Shuaitao Yao Weimin Zhan Lei Yan Hongdan Li Yanpei Zhang Lijian Wang Kang Zhang Liangliang Jiang Jianping Yang Qinghua Yang 2023The Crop Journal2023,11,4:0
