3Seismic Images of Shallow Waters over the Shatsky Rise in the Northwest Pacific Ocean显示文摘Recent studies have demonstrated the ability of seismic oceanography to reveal finescale vertical structures of water column in the oceans based on multichannel seismic(MCS)reflection data.Such information can clarify the dynamic processes of mixing,exchange,and translation of water mass and energy.In this study,we present four MCS lines and satellite data to show high-resolution seismic images of shallow waters over the Shatsky Rise in the Northwest Pacific Ocean,where the Kuroshio Exten-sion passes and bifurcates.One of our MCS transects crossed the center of an anticyclonic warm eddy on August 28,2010,confirmed by satellite data such as sea level anomaly(SLA),geostrophic current anomaly(GCA),and sea surface temperature anomaly(SSTa).The seismic image showed that the eddy vertical structure featured a bowl-like shape and onion-like internal layering.The slightly tilted(<0.5°)surface of the eddy was 400m below the sea surface,indicating a subsurface eddy.The eddy was inferred to have a radius of 50 km and a maximum thickness of 500m.Other MCS sections demonstrated the submesoscale structure of oceanfronts,characterized by the dipping reflectors(>2°-3°)at the boundaries between water masses with differing properties.In addition,the discrepancies in SLA,GCA,and SSTa between water masses resulted in different seismic reflectivities.The water masses with high SLA,anticyclonic GCA and positive SSTa featured high-amplitude,continuous,clear-layered,and non-linear reflections,whereas those with low SLA,cyclonic GCA,and negative SSTa were associated with weak,fragmented,less stratification,and more linear reflectors.ZHANG Jinchang LUO Yiming XING Junhui 2021Journal of Ocean University of China2021,20,5:1

5Ferroelastic domain identification and toughening mechanism for yttrium tantalate–zirconium oxide显示文摘Yttrium tantalate(YTaO_(4))is the next generation of higher service temperature thermal barrier coatings(TBCs)materials due to its smaller volume effect in phase change,lower thermal conductivity and unique ferroelastic domain structure.However,the low fracture toughness limits its application.We first characterized the diffraction patterns of variants,and two variants(M_(1)and M_(2))observed in transmission electron microscopy(TEM)results were determined from four possible variants by mechanical derivation.The role of Zr^(4+)doping in ferroelastic toughening was explained in detail.With the increase of Zr^(4+)doping concentration,the monoclinic angle β and the domain rotation angleαdecrease,respectively.The spontaneous strain component and the principal strain in the main space also have a similar decreasing trend.The decrease of the ferroelastic domain inversion energy barrier is beneficial to the improvement of fracture toughness.Combining the results of Vickers indentation,we found that Zr^(4+)could be enriched at the domain boundary to inhibit the generation of cracks.An appropriate amount of Zr^(4+)is conducive to the improvement of fracture toughness,and the excessive Zr^(4+)will reduce the fracture toughness due to the generation of by-product t-ZrO_(2).So,the optimal composition is Y_(0.44)Ta_(0.44)Zr_(0.12)O_(2) and the best fracture toughness(2.9–3.8MPa m^(1/2))is equivalent to the commercial 8YSZ.This result will promote the application of a new generation of TBCs.Cheng Luo Cong Li Ke Cao Junbao Li Junhui Luo Qinghua Zhang QianQian Zhou Fan Zhang Lin Gu Li Yang Yichun Zhou 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,32:1

8Influence of Piston Number on Churning Losses in Axial Piston Pumps显示文摘Raising the rotational speed of an axial piston pump is useful for improving its power density;however,the churning losses of the piston increase significantly with increasing speed,and this reduces the performance and efficiency of the axial piston pump.Currently,there has been some research on the churning losses of pistons;however,it has rarely been analyzed from the perspective of the piston number.To improve the performance and efficiency of the axial piston pump,a computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulation model of the churning loss was established,and the effect of piston number on the churning loss was studied in detail.The simulation analysis results revealed that the churning losses initially increased as the number of pistons increased;however,when the number of pistons increased from six to nine,the torque of the churning losses decreased because of the hydrodynamic shadowing effect.In addition,in the analysis of cavitation results,it was determined that the cavitation area of the axial piston pump was mainly concentrated around the piston,and the cavitation became increasingly severe as the speed increased.By comparing the simulation results with and without the cavitation model,it was observed that the cavitation phenomenon is beneficial for the reduction of churning losses.In this study,a piston churning loss test rig that can eliminate other friction losses was established to verify the accuracy of the simulation results.A comparative analysis indicated that the simulation results were consistent with the actual situation.In addition,this study also conducted a simulation study on seven and nine piston pumps with the same displacement.The simulation results revealed that churning losses of the seven pistons were generally greater than those of the nine pistons under the same displacement.In addition,regarding the same piston number and displacement,reducing the pitch circle radius of piston bores is effective in reducing the churning loss.This research analyzes the effect of piston number on the churning loss,which has certain guiding significance for the structural design and model selection of axial piston pumps.Ying Li Xing Chen Hao Luo Junhui Zhang Jin Zhang 2022Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2022,35,5:1
9Negative exponential behavior of image mutual information for pseudo-thermal light ghost imaging: observation, modeling, and verification显示文摘When using the image mutual information to assess the quality of reconstructed image in pseudothermal light ghost imaging, a negative exponential behavior with respect to the measurement number is observed. Based on information theory and a few simple and verifiable assumptions, semi-quantitative model of image mutual information under varying measurement numbers is established. It is the Gaussian characteristics of the bucket detector output probability distribution that leads to this negative exponential behavior. 11Phytosulfokine-α Promotes Root Growth by Repressing Expression of Pectin Methylesterase Inhibitor (PMEI) Genes in Medicago truncatula显示文摘Phytosulfokine-α(PSK-α),a sulfated pentapeptide with the sequence YIYTQ,is encoded by a small precursor gene family in Arabidopsis.PSK-αregulates multiple growth and developmental processes as a novel peptide hormone.Despite its importance,functions of PSK-αin M.truncatula growth remains unknown.In this study,we identified five genes to encode PSK-αprecursors in M.truncatula.All of these precursors possess conserved PSK-αsignature motif.Expression pattern analysis of these MtPSK genes revealed that each gene was expressed in a tissue-specific or ubiquitous pattern and three of them were remarkably expressed in root.Treatment of M.truncatula seedlings with synthetic PSK-αpeptide significantly promoted root elongation.In addition,expression analysis of downstream genes by RNA-seq and qRT-PCR assays suggested that PSK-αsignaling might regulate cell wall structure via PMEI-PME module to promote root cell growth.Taken together,our results shed light on the mechanism by which PSK-αpromotes root growth in M.truncatula,providing a new resource for improvement of root growth in agriculture.Liangliang Yu Wenjun Zhou Danping Zhang Junhui Yan Li Luo 2020Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2020,89,4:1
12A potent neutralizing antibody provides protection against SARS-CoV-2 Omicron and Delta variants via nasal delivery显示文摘Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)is still rapidly spreading worldwide.Many drugs and vaccines have been approved for clinical use show efficacy in the treatment and prevention of SARS-CoV-2 infections.However,the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern(VOCs),such as Delta(B.1.617.2)and the recently emerged Omicron(B.1.1.529),has seriously challenged the application of current therapeutics.Therefore,there is still a pressing need for identification of new broad-spectrum antivirals.Here,we further characterized a human antibody(58G6),which we previously isolated from a patient,with a broadly authentic virus-neutralizing activity that inhibits the Delta and Omicron variants with half-maximal inhibitory concentrations(ICso)of 1.69 ng/ml and 54.31 ng/ml,respectively.58G6 shows prophylactic and therapeutic effcacy in hamsters challenged with the Delta and Omicron variants through nasal delivery.Notably,a very low dosage(2 mg/kg daily)of 58G6 efficiently prevented Omicron variant replication in the lungs.These advantages may overcome the efficacy limitation of currently approved neutralizing antibodies that can be administered only by intravenous injection.In general,58G6 is a promising prophylactic and therapeutic candidate against current circulating VOCs and even future emerging mutants.To the best of our knowledge,58G6 is one of the most potent neutralizing antibodies against Omicron,with a broader spectrum than those approved for clinical use.58G6 could be developed as a nebulized therapy,which would be more cost effective and user friendly and enhance the clinical outcome comparedto thatobtainedwithdirect nasaldelivery.Xinghai Zhang Huajun Zhang Tingting Li Shaohong Chen Feiyang Luo Junhui Zhou Peiyi Zheng Shuyi Song Yan Wu Tengchuan Jin Ni Tang Aishun Jin Chengyong Yang Guofeng Cheng Rui Gong Sandra Chiu Ailong Huang 2022Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,9:1
13Transformation toughening in zirconium tantalum ceramics显示文摘Toughness enhancement of zirconium tantalum ceramics is conducive to the new generation of thermal barrier coatings(TBCs).The phase transformation toughening mechanism of zirconium tantalum ceramics has been explored through the Vickers indentation of YTaO_(4) ceramic block,the phase transformation region is found near the indentation and the microcrack tip.The increased energy of stable phaseΔE_(M.M′)>0,and the volume expandedΔV≈1.9%,so,the phase transformation is a process of energy absorption.The additional stressσa restraining the crack propagation was generated in the shielding area at the crack tip.In addition,combined with the toughening of ferroelastic domains switch,the traditional microcrack toughening,and crack propagation toughening,we summarized the toughening mechanism of YTaO_(4) ceramics with the increasing external load,which is followed by ferroelastic toughening,phase transformation,microcrack,and crack propagation.For the perspective of toughening,we found that Z^(4+) doping in YTaO_(4) ceramics could broaden the phase transformation range in phase transformation toughening,significantly improve the toughness and reduce the generation of cracks in microcrack toughening and crack propagation toughening.Therefore,toughening mechanism of zirconium tantalum ceramics has important guiding significance for the service of TBCs.LI Cong TAN Dan LUO Cheng LUO JunHui CAO Ke YANG Li ZHOU YiChun 2022Science China(Technological Sciences)2022,65,8:0

15Clinically applicable artificial intelligence algorithm for the diagnosis,evaluation,and monitoring of acute retinal necrosis显示文摘The prompt detection and proper evaluation of necrotic retinal region are especially important for the diagnosis and treatment of acute retinal necrosis(ARN).The potential application of artificial intelligence(AI)algorithms in these areas of clinical research has not been reported previously.The present study aims to create a computational algorithm for the automated detection and evaluation of retinal necrosis from retinal fundus photographs.A total of 149 wide-angle fundus photographs from40 eyes of 32 ARN patients were collected,and the U-Net method was used to construct the AI algorithm.Thereby,a novel algorithm based on deep machine learning in detection and evaluation of retinal necrosis was constructed for the first time.This algorithm had an area under the receiver operating curve of 0.92,with 86%sensitivity and 88%specificity in the detection of retinal necrosis.For the purpose of retinal necrosis evaluation,necrotic areas calculated by the AI algorithm were significantly positively correlated with viral load in aqueous humor samples(R2=0.7444,P<0.0001)and therapeutic response of ARN(R2=0.999,P<0.0001).Therefore,our AI algorithm has a potential application in the clinical aided diagnosis of ARN,evaluation of ARN severity,and treatment response monitoring.Lei FENG Daizhan ZHOU Chenqi LUO Junhui SHEN Wenzhe WANG Yifei LU Jian WU Ke YAO 2021Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2021,22,6:0
16Lime Assisted Cyanide Leaching of Refractory Gold Ores from Ajialongwa Mine显示文摘Heap leaching is a promising, less costly, alternative technology for processing low grade gold ores compared with traditional, energy intensive processes (e.g. autoclave/tank leaching). This research investigated the effectiveness of lime for enhancing gold leaching rates of gold ores from ajialongwa gold mine in china. Column and heaping experiments were performed using cyanide leaching solutions at pH=10, with and without lime (CaO). The presence of lime greatly increased gold leaching rates. Column leaching experiments showed without the addition of lime, there was 35.2% of gold leached. The addition of lime resulted in the release of 50.56% gold. 17On the Stability of Carbon Shale Slope under Rainfall Infiltration显示文摘Carbonaceous shale is a sedimentary rock containing a large amount of dispersed carbonaceous organic material.It is easy to crack and soften when exposed to water.In the present work,the stability of such a rock and its sensitivity to the formation of infiltrations due to rainfall are analyzed numerically using the GeoStudio software.The slope stability coefficient is calculated and verified using the landslide thrust calculation method.The results show that under the action of heavy rainfall,water infiltrates into the slope layer by layer,and,accordingly,the soil volume water content is different with respect to that typical of a homogeneous soil.It is also shown that,although in an initial stage,rainfall infiltration leads to the decline of the slope stability coefficient,with the progress of rainfall,this coefficient can temporarily increase,that is,these phenomena can display a lag phase.Haifeng Huang Zhao Li Junhui Luo Zhenchao Chang 2021Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2021,17,6:0
18Status of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt for portal hypertension in China:A national survey analysis显示文摘Aim:The transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt(TIPS)procedure has been performed in China for 30 years,but our understanding of the status and difficulties associated with the use of TIPS for portal hypertension is incomplete.This study aims to investigate the current situation of the use of TIPS for portal hypertension,which should aid the development of TIPS in China.Methods:This study involved a questionnaire survey,initiated by the China Portal Hypertension Alliance(CHESS)to investigate the use of TIPS for portal hypertension in China.Questionnaires were released on the Internet between August 16,2022 and September 16,2022.Detailed information was collected from 545 hospitals contracted by the CHESS in China,which performed TIPS surgery in 2021.Results:The 545 hospitals covers the majority of hospitals in China that conduct TIPS intervention.In the survey,a total of 13,527 TIPS interventions were carried out with 94.1%(498/545)of them had a system of routine follow‐up after TIPS.The majority(42.6%[232/545])believed that the main indication of TIPS was the control of acute bleeding.Overall,48.1%(262/545)carried out early or pre‐emptive TIPS,53.0%(289/545)carried out TIPS for cavernous transformation of the portal vein,and 81.0%(441/545)chose routine embolization of collateral circulation during operation.Most used coils(97.0%[475/490])and biological glue(72.0%[353/490])as embolic materials,and 78.5%(428/545)routinely performed intraoperative portal pressure gradient measurements.When selecting TIPS stents,57.1%(311/545)chose viator‐specific stents,and 57.2%(312/545)chose conventional anticoagulation after TIPS.Conventional anticoagulation after TIPS is over a time interval of 3–6 months(55.4%[173/312]).The limitation of TIPS surgery is mainly its cost(72.3%[394/545])and insufficient understanding of the procedure by doctors in other related departments(77.4%[422/545]).Most of the hospital teams accept the use of domestic instruments in TIPS surgery(92.7%[505/545]).Conclusions:This survey shows that TIPS is an essential part of the treatment of portal hypertension in China.TIPS is widely used in Chinese patients with portal hypertension,and this survey presents a more comprehensive picture of the options and difficulties encountered in the implementation of TIPS.In the future,it is necessary to promote TIPS technology and further standardize surgical indications,routine operations,and instrument application.Haibo Shao Xinwei Han Jianbo Zhao Junhui Sun Zhuting Fang Bin Xiong Xiaoli Zhu Weixin Ren Min Yuan Shiping Yu Meng Niu Weifu Lv Xueqiang Zhang Chunqing Zhang Lei Li Xuefeng Luo Yusheng Song Yilong Ma Tong Dang Hua Xiang Yun Jin Hui Xue Guiyun Jin Xiao Li Jiarui Li Shi Zhou Changlu Yu Song He Lei Yu Hongmei Zu Jun Ma Yanming Lei Ke Xu Xiaolong Qi 2023Portal Hypertension & Cirrhosis2023,2,1:0
19Microbial synthesis of bacitracin:Recent progress,challenges,and prospects显示文摘Microorganisms are important sources of various natural products that have been commercialized for human medicine and animal healthcare.Bacitracin is an important antibacterial natural product predominantly pro-duced by Bacillus licheniformis and Bacillus subtilis,and it is characterized by a broad antimicrobial spectrum,strong activity and low resistance,thus bacitracin is extensively applied in animal feed and veterinary medicine industries.In recent years,various strategies have been proposed to improve bacitracin production.Herein,we systematically describe the regulation of bacitracin biosynthesis in genus Bacillus and its associated mechanism,to provide a theoretical basis for bacitracin overproduction.The metabolic engineering strategies applied for bacitracin production are explored,including improving substrate utilization,using an enlarged precursor amino acid pool,increasing ATP supply and NADPH generation,and engineering transcription regulators.We also present several approaches of fermentation process optimization to facilitate the industrial large-scale production of bacitracin.Finally,the challenges and prospects associated with microbial bacitracin synthesis are discussed to facilitate the establishment of high-yield and low-cost biological factories.Jiang Zhu Shiyi Wang Cheng Wang Zhi Wang Gan Luo Junhui Li Yangyang Zhan Dongbo Cai Shouwen Chen 2023Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2023,8,2:0
