1Impact of the Three Gorges Project operation on the water exchange between Dongting Lake and the Yangtze River显示文摘The Three Gorges Project(TGP) is a world known project to utilize and manage the water resources of the Yangtze River. The reservoir stores water at the end of the flood season, and replenishes downstream reaches with water in dry seasons. In addition to such benefits, the TGP has irreversibly changed the hydrological process and the river-lake relation of the middle and lower reaches. In this paper, a hydrodynamic model was established to quantify the impact of the TGP's operation on the water exchange between Dongting Lake and the Yangtze River during 2009-2013. The results indicated that:the operation of the TGP has considerably reduced the peak discharge and the flood volume of the main stream and the Dongting Lake area. The inflow volume from the Yangtze River to Dongting Lake via three outlets decreased by 1.9-3.5 billion m^3/yr, while the outflow volume from Dongting Lake to the Yangtze River at Chenglingji increased by 0.3-1.6 billion m^3 in September and 0.4-0.6 billion m^3 in October,respectively. 2Synthesis of condensed polynuclear aromatic resin from furfural extract oil of reduced-pressure route Ⅱ显示文摘As an industrial byproduct of oil refining,furfural extract oil from reduced-pressure route Ⅱ with high aromatic content was used to prepare heat-resistant condensed polynuclear aromatic(COPNA) resin for the first time.The basic properties of furfural extract oil and the resultant COPNA resin were characterized by infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy(1H-NMR),thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) and elemental analysis(EA).The result showed that heat treated furfural extract oil was successfully used for the synthesis of heat-resistant COPNA resin.The average structural parameters of raw materials and prepared resin were calculated by the improved Brown-Ladner method,and the averaged molecular structure of the resin was obtained.The reaction mechanism for the synthesis of COPNA resin was suggested as an acid-catalyzed positive ion type polymerization.Wu Mingbo Jiang Wei Wang Yuwei Li Shibin Zheng Jingtang 2013Petroleum Science2013,10,4:10
3Multi-scale strength analysis of bolted connections used in integral thermal protection system显示文摘Efficient and accurate strength analysis of bolted connections is essential in analyzing the integral thermal protection system(ITPS) of hypersonic vehicles, since the system bears severe loads and structural failures usually occur at the connections. Investigations of composite mechanical properties used in ITPS are still in progress as the architecture of the composites is complex. A new method is proposed in this paper for strength analysis of bolted connections by investigating the elastic behavior and failure strength of three-dimensional C/C orthogonal composites used in ITPS. In this method a multi-scale finite element method incorporating the global–local method is established to ensure high efficiency in macro-scale and precision in meso-scale in analysis.Simulation results reveal that predictions of material properties show reasonable accuracy compared with test results. 4High temperature and high pressure rheological properties of high-density water-based drilling fluids for deep wells显示文摘To maintain tight control over rheological properties of high-density water-based drilling fluids, it is essential to understand the factors influencing the rheology of water-based drilling fluids. This paper examines temperature effects on the rheological properties of two types of high-density water-based drilling fluids (fresh water-based and brine-based) under high temperature and high pressure (HTHP) with a Fann 50SL rheometer. On the basis of the water-based drilling fluid systems formulated in laboratory, this paper mainly describes the influences of different types and concentration of clay, the content of a colloid stabilizer named GHJ-1 and fluid density on the rheological parameters such as viscosity and shear stress. In addition, the effects of aging temperature and aging time of the drilling fluid on these parameters were also examined. Clay content and proportions for different densities of brine-based fluids were recommended to effectively regulate the rheological properties. Four rheological models, the Bingham, power law, Casson and H-B models, were employed to fit the rheological parameters. It turns out that the H-B model was the best one to describe the rheological properties of the high-density drilling fluid under HTHP conditions and power law model produced the worst fit. 6Theoretical analysis of flamelet model for supersonic turbulent combustion显示文摘Being physically intuitionistic and computationally efficient,the flamelet model has obtained increasing attention and becomes popular in numerical simulations of supersonic combustion.However,the flamelet model was firstly built for simulations of the low-speed flows.Therefore it is still unclear whether the assumption of the flamelet model is reasonable in supersonic combustion.This paper tries to identify the existence of the flamelet mode in supersonic combustion.Firstly,the interaction of the turbulent fluctuation and the flame is discussed,based on which the combustion regime is distinguished.Then the charac-teristic length scale of the turbulent flows and the combustion inside the scramjet combustor are calculated and compared,which are used to identify whether the assumption of the flamelet model is reasonable in supersonic flows.The results show that for premixed combustion,due to the low fluctuation velocity in the recirculation zone and the shear layer,the assumption of the flamelet model is established for all the flight Mach numbers,while for non-premixed combustion the assumption is also established for most of the flight Mach numbers except for very high Mach number under which the slow reaction mode dominates the combustion.In order to quantitatively examine the combustion mode,numerical calculations are performed to simulate the strut-injection supersonic combustion which has been experimentally investigated in German Aerospace Center.The results show that the supersonic combustion occurs in the fully-developed turbulent regions and the assumption of the flamelet model is established in the whole flow field.FAN ZhouQin LIU WeuDong SUN MingBo WANG ZhenGuo ZHUANG FengChen LUO WenLei 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,1:7

8Synthesis and Characterization of Condensed Polynuclear Aromatic Resin Derived from Ethylene Tar显示文摘As a kind of low-cost and readily available industrial byproduct, ethylene tar (ET) was for the first time utilized for the preparation of heat-resistant condensed polynuclear aromatic resin (COPNAR). The basic properties of ET and the resulted COPNAR were characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, TGA and elemental analysis. The test results showed that ET with high aromatic content (>50%) was suitable for the synthesis of COPNAR with superior heat resistance. The average molecular structure of ET was obtained by means of the improved Brown-Ladner method, and the reaction mechanism was considered as an acid-catalyzed positive ion-typed polymerization. 9A hybrid LES (Large Eddy Simulation)/assumed sub-grid PDF (Probability Density Function) model for supersonic turbulent combustion显示文摘A hybrid LES (Large Eddy Simulation)/assumed sub-grid PDF (Probability Density Function) closure model has been devel-oped for supersonic turbulent combustion. Scalar transport equations for all species in a given chemical kinetic mechanism were solved, which are necessary in the supersonic combustion where the non-equilibrium chemistry is essentially involved. The clipped Gaussian PDF of temperature and multivariate ? PDF of composition were used to close the sub-grid chemical sources that appear in the conservation equations. The sub-grid variances of temperature and composition were constructed based on scale similarity approach. A semi-implicit approach based on the PDF model was proposed to tackle the resulting numerical stiffness associated with finite rate chemistry. The model was applied to simulate a supersonic, coaxial H2-air burner, where both the mean and rms (root mean square) results were compared with the experimental data. In general, good agree-ments were achieved, which indicated that the present sub-grid PDF method could work well in simulating supersonic turbu-lent combustion. 10Improvements of heat resistance and adhesive property of condensed poly-nuclear aromatic resin via epoxy resin modification显示文摘A bisphenol epoxy resin was used as modifier to increase the heat resistance of condensed poly-nuclear aromatic(COPNA) resin. The basic properties of COPNA resin and modified resin were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR), nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy(1H-NMR), vapor pressure osmometry(VPO) and elemental analysis(EA). Average structural parameters of resins were calculated by the improved Brown-Ladner method, and heat resistance of resins was tested by thermogravimetric analysis(TGA). The chemical structure, mechanical properties and heat resistivity of the resin/graphite composites prepared with different resins were compared. The results show that the adhesive property and heat resistance of COPNA resin can be remarkably improved by addition of 5 wt.% epoxy resin. The reason is that the reactions between epoxy groups of epoxy resin and hydroxyl groups of COPNA resin improve the heat resistance and adhesive property of COPNA resin. 11Nonlinear analysis of combustion oscillations in a cavity-based supersonic combustor显示文摘Combustion oscillations in a supersonic combustor with hydrogen injection upstream of a cavity flameholder are investigated using nonlinear analysis based on experimental measurements.Time series of both flamefront and wall pressure are acquired,and the state space reconstruction approach is adopted to characterize the nonlinear behavior of the combustion oscillations.Three overall equivalence ratios,0.038,0.076 and 0.11,are considered.The existence of a chaotic source in the present combustion system is demonstrated.The correlation dimension and the largest Lyapunov exponent tend to become larger with the increasing equivalence ratio,indicating a more complicated and unstable combustion system.In particular,it is found that the correlation dimension for the highest equivalence ratio is much greater than those of the two lower equivalence ratios.Two possible reasons responsible for the observed nonlinear behaviors are identified.One is the shock-related instabilities and the other is the transition of combustion stabilization mode between the cavity and jet-wake stabilized mode.WANG HongBo WANG ZhenGuo SUN MingBo WU HaiYan 2013Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,5:5
12Assessment of organic compost and biochar in promoting phytoremediation of crude-oil contaminated soil using Calendula officinalis in the Loess Plateau, China显示文摘The Loess Plateau,located in Gansu Province,is an important energy base in China because most of the oil and gas resources are distributed in Gansu Province.In the last 40 a,ecological environment in this region has been extremely destroyed due to the over-exploitation of crude-oil resources.Remediation of crude-oil contaminated soil in this area remains to be a challenging task.In this study,in order to elucidate the effects of organic compost and biochar on phytoremediation of crude-oil contaminated soil(20 g/kg)by Calendula officinalis,we designed five treatments,i.e.,natural attenuation(CK),planted C.officinalis only(P),planted C.officinalis with biochar amendment(PB),planted C.officinalis with organic compost amendment(PC),and planted C.officinalis with co-amendment of biochar and organic compost(PBC).After 152 d of cultivation,total petroleum hydrocarbons(TPH)removal rates of CK,P,PB,PC and PBC were 6.36%,50.08%,39.58%,73.10%and 59.87%,respectively.Shoot and root dry weights of C.officinalis significantly increased by 172.31%and 80.96%under PC and 311.61%and 145.43%under PBC,respectively as compared with P(P<0.05).Total chlorophyll contents in leaves of C.officinalis under P,PC and PBC significantly increased by 77.36%,125.50%and 79.80%,respectively(P<0.05)as compared with PB.Physical-chemical characteristics and enzymatic activity of soil in different treatments were also assessed.The highest total N,total P,available N,available P and SOM(soil organic matter)occurred in PC,followed by PBC(P<0.05).C.officinalis rhizospheric soil dehydrogenase(DHA)and polyphenol oxidase(PPO)activities in PB were lower than those of other treatments(P<0.05).The values of ACE(abundance-based coverage estimators)and Chao 1 indices for rhizospheric bacteria were the highest under PC followed by PBC,P,PB and CK(P<0.05).However,the Shannon index for bacteria was the highest under PC and PBC,followed by P,PB and CK(P<0.05).In terms of soil microbial community composition,Proteiniphilum,Immundisolibacteraceae and Solimonadaceae were relatively more abundant under PC and PBC.Relative abundances of Pseudallescheria,Ochroconis,Fusarium,Sarocladium,Podospora,Apodus,Pyrenochaetopsis and Schizothecium under PC and PBC were higher,while relative abundances of Gliomastix,Aspergillus and Alternaria were lower under PC and PBC.As per the nonmetric multidimensional scaling(NMDS)analysis,application of organic compost significantly promoted soil N and P contents,shoot length,root vitality,chlorophyll ratio,total chlorophyll,abundance and diversity of rhizospheric soil microbial community in C.officinalis.A high p H value and lower soil N and P contents induced by biochar,altered C.officinalis rhizospheric soil microbial community composition,which might have restrained its phytoremediation efficiency.The results suggest that organic compost-assisted C.officinalis phytoremediation for crude-oil contaminated soil was highly effective in the Loess Plateau,China.WANG Jincheng JING Mingbo ZHANG Wei ZHANG Gaosen ZHANG Binglin LIU Guangxiu CHEN Tuo ZHAO Zhiguang 2021Journal of Arid Land2021,13,6:4

15Efficient CO_(2) electroreduction over N-doped hieratically porous carbon derived from petroleum pitch显示文摘Developing of economic and efficient catalysts is critical for the application of electroreduction of carbon dioxide to highly valuable chemicals.Herein,we present a facile method to synthesize N-doped hieratically porous carbon through pyrolysis of petroleum pitch followed by ammonia etching.We found mesopores are favored formation by removing of asphaltene from petroleum pitch during the carbonation process.Simultaneously,ammonia etching can not only increase the pyridinic-N content,but also upgrade the ratio of meso-to micro-pores of carbon materials.Using the N-doped hieratically porous carbon as catalyst for carbon dioxide electroreduction,the Faradaic efficiency of carbon monoxide reaches 83%at-0.9 V vs.the reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE)in 0.1 M KHCO_(3).This superior performance is attributed to the synergistic effects of highly pyridinic-N content in conjunction with the hieratically porous architecture,rendering abundant exposed and accessible active sites for electroreduction of CO_(2).Our work provides a new strategy for the large-scale preparation of high-performance,low-cost catalysts for CO_(2) electroreduction.Hui Ning Dianliang Guo Xiaoshan Wang Zhonghao Tan Wenhang Wang Zhongxue Yang Linqing Li Qingshan Zhao Jian Hao Mingbo Wu 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,5:3
16High-performance polarization management devices based on thin-film lithium niobate显示文摘High-speed polarization management is highly desirable for many applications,such as remote sensing,telecommunication,and medical diagnosis.However,most of the approaches for polarization management rely on bulky optical components that are slow to respond,cumbersome to use,and sometimes with high drive voltages.Here,we overcome these limitations by harnessing photonic integrated circuits based on thin-film lithium niobate platform.We successfully realize a portfolio of thin-film lithium niobate devices for essential polarization management functionalities,including arbitrary polarization generation,fast polarization measurement,polarization scrambling,and automatic polarization control.The present devices feature ultra-fast control speeds,low drive voltages,low optical losses and compact footprints.Using these devices,we achieve high fidelity polarization generation with a polarization extinction ratio up to 41.9 dB and fast polarization scrambling with a scrambling rate up to 65 Mrad s−1,both of which are best results in integrated optics.We also demonstrate the endless polarization state tracking operation in our devices.The demonstrated devices unlock a drastically new level of performance and scales in polarization management devices,leading to a paradigm shift in polarization management.Zhongjin Lin Yanmei Lin Hao Li Mengyue Xu Mingbo He Wei Ke Heyun Tan Ya Han Zhaohui Li Dawei Wang X.Steve Yao Songnian Fu Siyuan Yu Xinlun Cai 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,5:3
17Building a Plutchik's Wheel Inspired Affective Model for Social Robots显示文摘As more and more social robots are applied in human-populated environments,they need an affective model to communicate with human beings naturally and believably.In addition,the model should be flexible to be applied in different areas,such as entertainment and education,and can be easily understood and operated by robot designers.To meet these requirements,we propose an affective model including emotions,moods and personality traits for social robots to mimic the affect changes of human beings.Inspired by the Plutchik's Wheel of Emotions,we first construct an affective space which can simultaneously represent the affective concepts.According to the affective space,the model can be visualized vividly and easily understood.We then describe the interaction among these concepts to change the robot states to make the robot interact with human beings naturally and believably.By tuning the parameters of the model,it can be flexibly applied in different areas.We evaluate the proposed model in simulation and human-robot interaction experiments and the experimental results show that the model is effective.Xianyu Qi Wei Wang Lei Guo Mingbo Li Xiaoyu Zhang Ran Wei 2019Journal of Bionic Engineering2019,16,2:3

19Olfactory and gustatory dysfunctions of COVID-19 patients in China:A multicenter study显示文摘Introduction:With the spread of the epidemic worldwide,an increasing number of doctors abroad have observed the following atypical symptoms of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19):olfactory or taste disorders.Therefore,clarifying the incidence and clinical characteristics of olfactory and taste disorders in Chinese COVID-19 patients is of great significance and urgency.Materials and Methods:A retrospective study was conducted,which included 229 severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 confirmed patients,through face-to-face interviews and telephone follow-up.Following the completion of questionnaires,the patients participating in the study,were categorized according to the degree of olfactory and taste disorders experienced,and the proportion of each clinical type of patient with olfactory and taste disorders and the time when symptoms appeared were recorded.Results:Among the 229 patients,31(13.54%)had olfactory dysfunction,and 44(19.21%)had gustatory dysfunction.For the patients with olfactory dysfunction,6(19.35%)developed severe disease and became critically ill.Olfactory dysfunction appeared before the other symptoms in 21.43%of cases.The proportion of females with olfactory and gustatory dysfunction was higher than that of males(P<0.001).Conclusions:The incidence of olfactory and gustatory dysfunction was much lower than that reported abroad;the prognosis of patients with olfactory dysfunction is relatively favorable;olfactory and gustatory dysfunction can be used as a sign for early screening;females are more prone to olfactory and gustatory dysfunction.Jianhui Li Yi Sun Enqiang Qin Hu Yuan Mingbo Liu Wenqi Yi Zhu Chen Chengcheng Huang Fengjie Zhou Ruiyao Chen Leibo Zhang Ning Yu Qiong Liu Xuejun Zhou Jingjing He Boyu Li Fusheng Wang Changliang Yang Shiming Yang 2022World Journal of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery2022,8,4:2
