| 1 | Kinetics of the accumulation of group 2 innate lymphoid cells in IL-33-induced and IL-25-induced murine models of asthma:a potential role for the chemokine CXCL16显示文摘ILC2s are implicated in asthma pathogenesis, but little is known about the mechanisms underlying their accumulation in airways.We investigated the time course of ILC2 accumulation in different tissues in murine models of asthma induced by a serial per-nasalchallenge with ovalbumin (OVA), house dust mice (HDM), IL-25 and IL-33 and explored the potential roles of ILC2-attractingchemokines in this phenomenon. Flow cytometry was used to enumerate ILC2s at various time points. The effects of cytokines andchemokines on ILC2 migration were measured in vitro using a chemotaxis assay and in vivo using small animal imaging. Comparedwith saline and OVA challenge, both IL-25 and IL-33 challenge alone induced significant accumulation of ILC2s in the mediastinallymph nodes, lung tissue and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of challenged animals, but with a distinct potency and kinetics. In vitro,IL-33 and CXCL16, but not IL-25 or CCL25, directly induced ILC2 migration. Small animal in vivo imaging further confirmed that asingle intranasal provocation with IL-33 or CXCL16 was sufficient to induce the accumulation of ILC2s in the lungs followinginjection via the tail vein. Moreover, IL-33-induced ILC2 migration involved the activation of ERK1/2, p38, Akt, JNK and NF-κB, whileCXCL16-induced ILC2 migration involved the activation of ERK1/2, p38 and Akt. These data support the hypothesis that epitheliumderived IL-25 and IL-33 induce lung accumulation of ILC2s, while IL-33 exerts a direct chemotactic effect in this process. | 4 | Simultaneous removal of hydrogen sulfide and volatile organic sulfur compounds in off-gas mixture from a wastewater treatment plant using a two-stage bio-trickling filter system显示文摘Simultaneous removal of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and volatile organic sulfur compounds (VOSCs) in off-gas mixture from a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) is difficult due to the occasional inhibitory effects of H2S on VOSC degradation. In this study, a two-stage bio-trickling filter (BTF) system was developed to treat off-gas mixture from a real WWTP facility. At an empty bed retention time of 40 s, removal efficiencies of H2S, methanethiol, dimethyl sulfide, and dimethyl disulfide were 90.1, 88.4, 85.8 and 61.8%, respectively. Furthermore, the effect of lifting load shock on system performance was investigated and results indicated that removal of both H2S and VOSCs was slightly affected. Illumina Miseq sequencing revealed that the microbial community of first-stage BTF contained high abundance of H2S-affinity genera including Acidithiobacillus (51.43%), Metallibacterium (25.35%), and Thionomas (8.08%). Analysis of mechanism demonstrated that first stage of BTF removed 86.1% of H2S, mitigating the suppression on VOSC degradation in second stage of BTF. | 6 | Redox-active conjugated microporous polymers as electron-accepting organic pseudocapacitor electrode materials for flexible energy storage显示文摘Efficient energy storage devices,i.e.pseudocapacitors,are being intensively pursued to address the environmental and energy crises.Most high-performance pseudocapacitors are based on inorganic materials,while organic materials with broader synthetic tunability have attracted increasing interest.Despite recent progress,electron-deficient(n-type)organic pseudocapacitive materials for flexible energy storage are highly demanded yet remain largely unexplored.Here a novel set of n-type perylene diimide(PDI)based conjugated microporous polymers(CMPs),namely,CMP-1,CMP-2 and CMP-3,have been created to integrate excellent desirable characteristics as organic pseudocapacitor electrode materials for flexible energy storage.In light of electron-accepting redox-active sites,hierarchically porous structures,as well as amide-linked networks,the PDI-CMPs electrodes displayed n-type pseudocapacitive behaviors with high capacity(139-205 F g^(-1)at 0.5 A g^(-1)),wide and negative biases(-1.0 to 0 V vs.Ag/AgCl),and long cycling stability.CMP-3 consisting of tetraphenylmethane three-dimensional(3D)building block and PDI units demonstrates not only higher capacitance but also better performance stability because of the higher specific surface area and faster diffusion kinetics as compared to its counterpart CMP-1.Asymmetric supercapacitors(SCs)based on CMP-3 and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(styrenesulfonate)(PEDOT/PSS)exhibited wider potential window(1.8 V)and higher capacitance(17.4 m F cm^(-2))compared with symmetric SCs based on PEDOT/PSS electrodes.Notably,CMP-3 also demonstrates attractive potentials as the anode for rechargeable Li-ion batteries.The study sheds light on the fundamental understanding of the key structural parameters that determine their electrochemical and transport properties,thus opening a new door for the rational design of efficient and stable n-type organic electrode materials for flexible energy storage applications. | Xu Liu Gengzhi Sun Yujiao Gong Cheng-Fang Liu Shi Wang Shihao Xu Xuanli Yang Lei Yang Wen-Yong Lai | 2022 | Science China Chemistry2022,65,9: | 2 |
| 7 | Cobalt diselenide (001) surface with short-range Co-Co interaction triggering high-performance electrocatalytic oxygen evolution显示文摘Oxygen evolution reaction (OER) still suffers from the bottleneck in electrocatalytic water splitting. Herein, in virtue of volcano plots drawn by theoretical calculation, the (001) facet was screened as the superb facet of orthorhombic CoSe_(2) for OER. Afterwards, CoSe_(2)(001) nanosheets were synthesized and the exposure ratio of (001) facet is controllable with thermodynamics methods effectively. The single-facet CoSe2(001) delivered an overpotential as low as 240 mV at 10 mA·cm^(−2) in 1 M KOH, which outperformed the bulk (380 mV) as well as other CoSe_(2)-base OER catalysts reported before. Especially, a shorter Co-Co path was observed in CoSe_(2)(001) by X-ray absorption spectroscopy. Further density functional theory (DFT) studies revealed that the reversible compression on the shorter Co-Co path could regulate the electronic structure of active sites during the OER process, and thus the energy barrier of the rate-determining step was reduced by 0.15 eV. | 17 | CNT-Modified MIL-88(NH_(2))-Fe for Enhancing DNA-Regulated Peroxidase-Like Activity显示文摘Over the past few decades,the enzyme-mimicking activity of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)accompanied with struc-tural characteristics has aroused much attention.However,pure MOFs have low affinity with DNA.Here,iron-based MOFs with acidized carbon nanotubes(CNTs)via a simple hydrothermal process have been synthesized,named as MIL-88(NH_(2))-Fe@CNTs.CNTs can enhance the affinity between MOF and DNA,achieving flexible regulation of their catalytic activity benefiting from the strongπ−πstacking between CNTs and DNA.Meanwhile,in comparison with conventional iron-based MOFs,the addition of CNTs,which contributes to the acceleration of electron transfer,endowing as-prepared nanocomposites remarkably enhanced peroxidase-like activity to achieve an ultrasensitive detection of H_(2)O_(2) with the LOD of 17.64μg/L.Notably,the as-prepared nanocomposites with adsorbed DNA displayed excellent affinity towards both TMB(3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine)substrates and H_(2)O_(2) as well as high catalytic velocity.On the basis of their switchable peroxidase-like activity regulated by different length or sequence of ssDNA,it is believed that our-prepared MOF-based nanomaterials would be promising for fabricating versatile and sensitive label-free colorimetric assays for diverse targets. | Shihao Sun Yaofang Fan Jiaoyang Du Zhilian Song Huimin Zhao | 2019 | Journal of Analysis and Testing2019,3,3: | 1 |
