| 3 | Left atrial appendage aneurysm: A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND An aneurysm of the left atrial appendage is one of the rare but potentially hazardous heart defects.The risk of lethal complications grows with its size.To date,about 150 cases of this defect have been described in the literature.We present a case of left atrial appendage aneurysm with the deformation of the mitral valve and the left main coronary and circumflex artery,which required mitral valve annuloplasty and bifurcation stenting.CASE SUMMARY A 58-year-old man presented to our hospital complaining of shortness of breath,general weakness,dizziness during physical exertion,and fatigue.Based on the results of echocardiography,an aneurysm of the left atrium was suspected.A free-breathing real-time cine magnetic resonance imaging with electrocardiograph synchronization confirmed the diagnosis of left atrial appendage aneurysm.The patient underwent an aneurysmectomy via a median sternotomy with cardiopulmonary bypass.Intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography revealed relative mitral insufficiency that was corrected with an annuloplasty ring.Intraoperative coronary angiogram showed impaired blood flow in the left main coronary and circumflex artery and 60%stenosis.For this reason,bifurcation stenting was performed.The patient had an uneventful postoperative clinical course and was discharged from the hospital on the 10th day in a satisfactory condition.CONCLUSION Left atrial appendage aneurysm is a rare and dangerous heart pathology that requires surgery to prevent related complications. | Dmitry Vladimirovich Belov Vladimir Ivanovich Moskalev Dmitry Victorovich Garbuzenko Nikolay Olegovich Arefyev | 2020 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2020,8,19: | 3 |
| 4 | Anti-aging effects of chlorpropamide depend on mitochondrial complex-Ⅱ and the production of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species显示文摘Sulfonylureas are widely used oral anti-diabetic drugs.However,its long-term usage effects on patients’lifespan remain controversial,with no reports of influence on animal longevity.Hence,the anti-aging effects of chlorpropamide along with glimepiride,glibenclamide,and tolbutamide were studied with special emphasis on the interaction of chlorpropamide with mitochondrial ATP-sensitive K+(mito K-ATP)channels and mitochondrial complex II.Chlorpropamide delayed aging in Caenorhabditis elegans,human lung fibroblast MRC-5 cells and reduced doxorubicin-induced senescence in both MRC-5 cells and mice.In addition,the mitochondrial membrane potential and ATP levels were significantly increased in chlorpropamide-treated worms,which is consistent with the function of its reported targets,mito K-ATP channels.Increased levels of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species(mt ROS)were observed in chlorpropamide-treated worms.Moreover,the lifespan extension by chlorpropamide required complex II and increased mt ROS levels,indicating that chlorpropamide acts on complex II directly or indirectly via mito K-ATP to increase the production of mt ROS as a pro-longevity signal.This study provides mechanistic insight into the anti-aging effects of sulfonylureas in C.elegans. | Zhifan Mao Wenwen Liu Yunyuan Huang Tianyue Sun Keting Bao Jiali Feng Alexey Moskalev Zelan Hu Jian Li | 2022 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,2: | 2 |
