| 1 | Potential antioxidant and cytoprotective effects of essential oil extracted from Cymbopogon citratus on OxLDL and H_(2)O_(2) LDL induced Human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells(PBMC)显示文摘Cymbopogon citratus(lemon grass)is commonly used in traditional folk medicine.The essential oil extracted from C.citratus has been reported as a potential anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory agent.This study has been designed to explore the protective effect of C.citratus(lemon grass)against modified LDL(OxLDL and H2O2 LDL)induced cytotoxicity in Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells(PBMC).The essential oil extracted from C.citratus(EOC)was subjected to FT-IR spectroscopic analysis for the identification of functional groups.In vitro antioxidant assays were carried out to assess the electron donating capability of EOC as compared with a known standard L-ascorbic acid.The cytoprotective effects of EOC were determined in PBMC induced with modified LDL.Spectra obtained from FT-IR analysis showed the presence of functional groups in EOC such as H-bonded,O-H stretching,N-H stretching,aldehyde-C-H stretching,aldehyde/ketone-C=O stretching,-C=C-stretching,-CH_(3) bending,-C-H in plane bending.EOC has greater antioxidant property when compared with the standard L-ascorbic acid.EOC at all test concentrations demonstrated free radical scavenging activity and cytoprotective effect when challenged against modified LDL in PBMC.The above results show EOC as a promising antioxidant and cytoprotective agent. | S.Jamuna Sakeena Sadullah M.S. | 14 | The choice of a neoadjuvant chemotherapy cycle for breast cancer has significance in clinical practice: results from a population-based, real world study显示文摘Objective:Neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NAC)is currently used in both early stage and locally advanced breast cancers.The survival benefits of standard vs.non-standard NAC cycles are still unclear.This study aimed to investigate the relationship between NAC cycles and survival based on real world data.Methods:We identified patients diagnosed with invasive primary breast cancers who underwent NAC followed by surgery.Patients who received at least 4 NAC cycles were defined as having received standard cycles,while patients who received less than 4 NAC cycles were defined as having received non-standard cycles.Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox proportional hazard models were used to estimate the disease-free survival(DFS)and overall survival(OS).Results:Of the 1,024 included patients,700 patients received standard NAC cycles and 324 patients received non-standard NAC cycles.The DFS estimates were 87.1%and 81.0%(P=0.007)and the OS estimates were 90.0%and 82.6%(P=0.001)in the standard and non-standard groups,respectively.Using multivariate analyses,patients treated with standard NAC cycles showed significant survival benefits in both DFS[hazard ratio(HR):0.62,95%confidence interval(CI):0.44–0.88]and OS(HR:0.54,95%CI:0.37–0.79).Using stratified analyses,standard NAC cycles were associated with improved DFS(HR:0.59,95%CI:0.36–0.96)and OS(HR:0.49,95%CI:0.28–0.86)in the HER2 positive group.Similar DFS(HR:0.50,95%CI:0.25–0.98)and OS(HR:0.45,95%CI:0.22–0.91)benefits were shown for the triple negative group.Conclusions:Standard NAC cycles were associated with a significant survival benefit,especially in patients with HER2 positive or triple negative breast cancer. | Litong Yao Zhiyuan Pang Mozhi Wang Mengshen Wang Xiangyu Sun Mingke Cui Yanfu Zheng Xinyan Li Haoran Dong Qiang Zhang Yingying Xu | 2022 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2022,19,5: | 0 |
| 15 | A machine learning model to predict efficacy of neoadjuvant therapy in breast cancer based on dynamic changes in systemic immunity显示文摘Objective:Neoadjuvant therapy(NAT)has been widely implemented as an essential treatment to improve therapeutic efficacy in patients with locally-advanced cancer to reduce tumor burden and prolong survival,particularly for human epidermal growth receptor 2-positive and triple-negative breast cancer.The role of peripheral immune components in predicting therapeutic responses has received limited attention.Herein we determined the relationship between dynamic changes in peripheral immune indices and therapeutic responses during NAT administration.Methods:Peripheral immune index data were collected from 134 patients before and after NAT.Logistic regression and machine learning algorithms were applied to the feature selection and model construction processes,respectively.Results:Peripheral immune status with a greater number of CD3^(+)T cells before and after NAT,and a greater number of CD8^(+)T cells,fewer CD4^(+)T cells,and fewer NK cells after NAT was significantly related to a pathological complete response(P<0.05).The post-NAT NK cell-to-pre-NAT NK cell ratio was negatively correlated with the response to NAT(HR=0.13,P=0.008).Based on the results of logistic regression,14 reliable features(P<0.05)were selected to construct the machine learning model.The random forest model exhibited the best power to predict efficacy of NAT among 10 machine learning model approaches(AUC=0.733).Conclusions:Statistically significant relationships between several specific immune indices and the efficacy of NAT were revealed.A random forest model based on dynamic changes in peripheral immune indices showed robust performance in predicting NAT efficacy. | Yusong Wang Mozhi Wang Keda Yu Shouping Xu Pengfei Qiu Zhidong Lyu Mingke Cui Qiang Zhang Yingying Xu | 2023 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2023,20,3: | 0 |
| 16 | Optimized Resource Allocation for IoT-D2D Communication Using WSN显示文摘The need for a strong system to access radio resources demands a change in operating frequency in wireless networks as a part of Radio Resource Management(RRM).In the fifth-generation(5G)wireless networks,the capacity of the system is expected to be enhanced by Device-to-Device(D2D)communication.The cooperation and Resources Allocation(RA)in the development of Internet of Things(IoT)enabled 5G wireless networks are investigated in this paper.Developing radio RA methods for D2D communication while not affecting any Mobile Users’(MU)communication is the main challenge of this research.Distinct performance goals such as practising equality in the rates of user data,increasing Network Throughput(NT),and reducing End-to-End Delay(EED)are achieved by RA.The study undertaken on optimising performance for various wireless networks is focused on in this research work.Proposing a polynomialtime Proportional Fair Resource Allocation Method(PFRAM),which considers the MU’s rate requirements,is the prime objective of this paper.Any Resource Allocation Method(RAM)can be used by the proposed method for MU,and the time and differing location channel conditions are the factors to be adapted with.Allotting more than one resource block is allowed by our PFRAM to a D2D pair.The automatic maintenance of battery-less IoT wireless devices’energy level is done potentially using an Extensible Energy Management System(EEMS).Finally,the device’s Node Transmission Power(NTP)can be managed using an Energy-Saving Algorithm(ESA)designed in this work for Node Uplink Data Transmission(NUDT).The trade-off between the Packet Loss Rate(PLR)and NTP is balanced by the algorithm.The cost of NUDT’s average Energy Consumption(EC)is reduced by locating the optical NTP.In order to free much bandwidth for wireless information,NUDT conserves the harvested energy for minimising Radio Frequency(RF)Energy Transmission(ET).MATLAB simulations are used to assess the proposed EEMS.The IoT device’s NTP is managed using ESA designed for NUDT.The significant minimisation of channel hopping EED and the selection of the premium quality communication channel by the proposed framework are indications of the simulation results.67.19%is the bandwidth to transmit DPs with the Bandwidth Allocation Algorithm(BAA),which is greater than the cases in its absence. | S.Arun Mozhi Selvi Roobaea Alroobaea Saeed Rubaiee Abdulkader S.Hanbazazah | 2023 | Computer Systems Science & Engineering2023,45,5: | 0 |
