1Cancer statistics in China and United States,2022:profiles,trends,and determinants显示文摘Background:The cancer burden in the United States of America(USA)has decreased gradually.However,China is experiencing a transition in its cancer profiles,with greater incidence of cancers that were previously more common in the USA.This study compared the latest cancer profiles,trends,and determinants between China and USA.Methods:This was a comparative study using open-source data.Cancer cases and deaths in 2022 were calculated using cancer estimates from GLOBOCAN 2020 and population estimates from the United Nations.Trends in cancer incidence and mortality rates in the USA used data from the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results program and National Center for Health Statistics.Chinese data were obtained from cancer registry reports.Data from the Global Burden of Disease 2019 and a decomposition method were used to express cancer deaths as the product of four determinant factors.Results:In 2022,there will be approximately 4,820,000 and 2,370,000 new cancer cases,and 3,210,000 and 640,000 cancer deaths in China and the USA,respectively.The most common cancers are lung cancer in China and breast cancer in the USA,and lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in both.Age-standardized incidence and mortality rates for lung cancer and colorectal cancer in the USA have decreased significantly recently,but rates of liver cancer have increased slightly.Rates of stomach,liver,and esophageal cancer decreased gradually in China,but rates have increased for colorectal cancer in the whole population,prostate cancer in men,and other seven cancer types in women.Increases in adult population size and population aging were major determinants for incremental cancer deaths,and case-fatality rates contributed to reduced cancer deaths in both countries.Conclusions:The decreasing cancer burden in liver,stomach,and esophagus,and increasing burden in lung,colorectum,breast,and prostate,mean that cancer profiles in China and the USA are converging.Population aging is a growing determinant of incremental cancer burden.Progress in cancer prevention and care in the USA,and measures to actively respond to population aging,may help China to reduce the cancer burden.Changfa Xia Xuesi Dong He Li Maomao Cao Dianqin Sun Siyi He Fan Yang Xinxin Yan Shaoli Zhang Ni Li Wanqing Chen 2022Chinese Medical Journal2022,,5:827

3Multispherical interactions and their effects on the Tibetan Plateau's earth system: a review of the recent researches显示文摘The Tibetan Plateau(TP) is a regional Earth system showing very strong interactions among its lithosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, biosphere, atmosphere, and anthrosphere. hese interactions manifest TP's impact on surrounding regions and relect TP's response to the global change. Quantifying the multispherical interactions is critically important to understand the TP environment. Our recent years researches including the ongoing program entitled ‘Tibetan Multi-Spheres Interactions and heir Resource-Environment Signiicance(TIMI)', the completed program entitled. ‘Paleo-Altitudes of Tibetan Plateau and Environment(PATE)', as well as the other relating projects have focused on multidisciplinary research approaches and emphasized on three major pathways: Eurasia-Indian plates collision on deep-Earth dynamics, uplit impact on Earth's mantle–crust dynamics, and contemporary interface on land surface and atmospheric dynamics. Our researches have taken in situ measurement as priority and developed several platforms of data acquisition and analysis, including the platforms of water-phase transformations, and ecosystem observations. Our ield investigations have been conducted to obtain data about stratum, paleontology, paleoenvironment, genetic diferentiation of animals and plants. We have developed conceptual and mathematical models for crust uplit formation, paleoclimate, glacial melt,water–air interface lux, vegetation climate, and soil erosion. We have also assessed the anthropogenic impacts on environment. 4Meta-analysis of radiofrequency ablation in combination with transarterial chemoembolization for hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM: To compare radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) with RFA monotherapy in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). METHODS: We searched PubMed, Medline, Embase and Chinese databases (CBMdisc and Wanfang data) for randomized controlled trails comparing RFA plus TACE and RFA alone for treatment of HCC from January 2000 to December 2012. The overall survival rate, re-currence-free survival rate, tumor progression rate, and safety were analyzed and compared. The analysis was conducted on dichotomous outcomes and the standard meta-analytical techniques were used. Pooled odds ratios (ORs) with 95%CIs were calculated using either the fixed-effects or random-effects model. For each meta-analysis, the χ2 and I2 tests were first calculated to assess the heterogeneity of the included trials. For P<0.05 and I 2>50%, the assumption of homogeneity was deemed invalid, and the random-effects model wasused; otherwise, data were assessed using the fixed-effects model. All statistical analysis was conducted us-ing Review manager (version 4.2.2.) from the Cochrane collaboration. RESULTS: Eight randomized controlled trials were identified as eligible for inclusion in this analysis and included 598 patients with 306 treated with RFA plus TACE and 292 with RFA alone. Our data analysis indicated that RFA plus TACE was associated a sig-nificantly higher overall survival rate (OR 1-year=2.96, 95%CI: 1.84-7.74, P<0.001; OR 2-year=3.72, 95%CI: 1.24-11.16, P=0.02; OR 3-year=2.65, 95%CI: 1.81-3.86, P<0.001) and recurrence-free survival rate (OR 3-year=3.00, 95%CI: 1.75-5.13, P<0.001; OR 5-year=2.26, 95%CI: 1.43-3.57, P=0.0004) vs that of RFA alone. The tumor progression rate in patients treated with RFA alone was higher than that of RFA plus TACE (OR=0.60, 95%CI: 0.42-0.88, P=0.008) and there was no significant difference on major complications between two different kinds of treatment (OR=1.20, 95%CI: 0.31-4.62, P=0.79). Additionally, the meta-analysis data of subgroups revealed that the survival rate was significantly higher in patients with intermediate-and large-size HCC underwent RFA plus TACE than in those underwent RFA monotherapy; however, there was no significant difference between RFA plus TACE and RFA on survival rate for small HCC. 5Cloning and expression profiles of 15 genes encoding WRKY transcription factor in wheat (Triticum aestivem L.)显示文摘WRKY proteins are involved in various physiological processes,including biotic and abiotic stress responses,hormone responses and development.However,no systematic identification,expression and function analysis of WRKY genes in wheat were reported.In this study,we isolated 15 wheat cDNAs with complete open reading frame(ORF)encoding putative WRKY proteins using in silico cloning.Phylogenetic analysis indicated that the 15 wheat WRKY genes belonged to three major WRKY groups.Expression analysis revealed that most genes expressed drastically in leaf,except TaWRKY10 which expressed in crown intensively.Four genes were strongly up-reg-ulated with the senescence of leaves.Eight genes were responsive to low temperature,high temperature,NaCl or PEG treatment.More-over,dierential expression patterns were also observed between wheat hybrid and its parents,and some genes were more responsive to PEG treatment in the hybrid.These results demonstrated that wheat WRKY genes are involved in leaf senescing and abiotic stresses.And the changed expression of these WRKY genes in hybrid might contribute to the heterosis by improving the stress tolerance in hybrids.Hualing Wu Zhongfu Ni Yingyin Yao Ganggang Guo Qixin Sun 2008Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2008,18,6:34
6Preparation of hierarchical mesoporous Zn/HZSM-5 catalyst and its application in MTG reaction显示文摘The hierarchical mesoporous Zn/ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst was prepared by NaOH treatment and Zn impregnation, and its application in the conversion of methanol to gasoline (MTG) was studied. N2 adsorption-desorption results showed that the mesopores with sizes of 2–20 nm in HZ5/0.3AT was formed by 0.3 M NaOH alkali treatment. The zeolite samples after modification were also characterized by XRF, AAS, XRD, SEM and NH3-TPD methods. Zn impregnated catalyst Zn/HZ5/0.3AT exhibited dramatic improvements in catalytic lifetime and liquid hydrocarbons yield. The selectivity of aromatic hydrocarbons was also improved after Zn impregnation. 9Identification and Bioinformatics Analysis of SnRK2 and CIPK Family Genes in Sorghum显示文摘Through bioinformatic data mining,10 SnRK2 and 31 CIPK genes were identified from sorghum genome.They are unevenly distributed in the sorghum chromosomes.Most SnRK2 genes have 8 introns,while the CIPK genes have a few(no intron or less than 3 introns) or more than 10 introns.Phylogenetic analysis revealed that SnRK2 genes belong to one cluster and CIPK genes form the other independent cluster.The sorghum SnRK2s are subgrouped into three parts,and CIPK into five parts.More than half SnRK2 and CIPK genes present in homologous pairs,suggesting gene duplication may be due to the amplification of SnRK family genes.The kinase domains of SnRK2 family are highly conserved with 88.40% identity,but those of the CIPK family are less conserved with 63.72% identity.And the identity of sorghum CBLinteracting NAF domains of CIPKs is 61.66%.What's more,regarding to the sorghum SnRK2 and CIPK kinases,they are characterized with distinct motifs and their subcellular localization is not necessarily the same,which suggests they may be divergent in functions.Due to less conserved sequences,complex subcellular localization,and more family members,sorghum CIPK genes may play more flexible and multiple biological functions.According to the phylogenetic analysis of SnRK genes and SnRK functional studies in other plants,it is speculated that sorghum SnRK2 and CIPK genes may play important roles in stress response,growth and development.LI Li-bin ZHANG Yi-rong LIU Kai-chang NI Zhong-fu FANG Zhi-jun SUN Qi-xin GAO Jian-wei 2010Agricultural Sciences in China2010,9,1:28
10Expenditure and financial burden for the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer in China:a hospital.based,multicenter,cross-sectional survey显示文摘Background: The increasing prevalence of colorectal cancer(CRC) in China and the paucity of information about relevant expenditure highlight the necessity of better understanding the financial burden and effect of CRC diagnosis and treatment. We performed a survey to quantify the direct medical and non-medical expenditure as well as the resulting financial burden of CRC patients in China.Methods: We conducted a multicenter, cross-sectional survey in 37 tertiary hospitals in 13 provinces across China between 2012 and 2014. Each enrolled patient was interviewed using a structured questionnaire. All expenditure data were inflated to the 2014 Chinese Yuan(CNY; 1 CNY = 0.163 USD). We quantified the overall expenditure and financial burden and by subgroup(hospital type, age at diagnosis, sex, education, occupation, insurance type, household income, clinical stage, pathologic type, and therapeutic regimen). We then performed generalized linear modeling to determine the factors associated with overall expenditure.Results: A total of 2356 patients with a mean age of 57.4 years were included, 57.1 % of whom were men; 13.9% of patients had stage I cancer; and the average previous-year household income was 54,525 CNY.The overall average direct expenditure per patient was estimated to be 67,408 CNY, and the expenditures for stage Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, and Ⅳ disease were 56,099 CNY, 59,952 CNY, 67,292 CNY, and 82,729 CNY, respectively. Non-medical expenditure accounted for 8.3%of the overall expenditure. The 1-year out-of-pocket expenditure of a newly diagnosed patient was 32,649 CNY, which accounted for 59.9% of their previous-year household income and caused 75.0% of families to suffer an unmanageable financial burden. Univariate analysis showed that financial burden and overall expenditure differed in almost all subgroups(P < 0.05), except for sex. Multivariate analysis showed that patients who were treated in specialized hospitals and those who were diagnosed with adenocarcinoma or diagnosed at a later stage were likely to spend more,whereas those with a lower household income and those who underwent surgery spent less(all P < 0.05).Conclusions: For patients in China, direct expenditure for the diagnosis and treatment of CRC seemed catastrophic,and non-medical expenditure was non-ignorable. 11Hydrothermal ore deposits in collisional orogens显示文摘Hydrothermal ore deposits at convergent plate boundaries represent extraordinary metal enrichment in the continental crust. They are generally associated with felsic magmatism in extensional settings at high thermal gradients. Although their formation is common during accretionary orogeny, more and more ore deposits have been discovered recently in the collisional orogens of China. Because collisional orogeny was operated in a compressional regime at low thermal gradients, it is not favorable for mobilization of ore-forming elements and thus for the production of hydrothermal ore deposits. Nevertheless, continental collision is generally preceded by oceanic subduction, which enables the preliminary enrichment of ore-forming elements in the mantle wedge due to chemical metasomatism by subducting slab-derived fluids. This gave rise to metal pre-enriched domains in the overriding lithosphere, which may be reactivated by extensional tectonism for hydrothermal mineralization either immediately during accretionary orogeny or at a later time during and after collisional orogeny. It is these tectonic processes that have resulted in the progressive enrichment of ore-forming elements through the geochemical differentiation of the subducting oceanic crust, the metasomatic mantle domains and the mafic juvenile crust, respectively, at different depths. 14Heat and power load dispatching considering energy storage of district heating system and electric boilers显示文摘As one of promising clean and low-emission energy, wind power is being rapidly developed in China.However, it faces serious problem of wind curtailment,particularly in northeast China, where combined heat and power(CHP) units cover a large proportion of the district heat supply. Due to the inherent strong coupling between the power and the heat load, the operational flexibility of CHP units is severely restricted in winter to meet the heat supply demand, which imparts considerable stress on the wind power connection to the grid. To promote the integration of wind power and enhance the flexibility of CHP units, this paper presented a method of heat and power load dispatching by exploring the energy storage ability of electric heating boilers and district heating systems. The optimization results indicate that the proposed method can integrate additional wind power into the grid and reduce the coal consumption of CHP units over the optimized period. 16Effects of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α silencing on the proliferation of CBRH-7919 hepatoma cells显示文摘AIM:To study the effects of hypoxia-inducible factor1α(HIF-1α) silencing on the proliferation of hypoxic CBRH-7919 rat hepatoma cells.METHODS:The CBRH-7919 rat hepatoma cell line was used in this study and the hypoxic model was constructed using CoCl2.The HIF-1α-specific RNAi sequences were designed according to the gene coding sequence of rat HIF-1α obtained from GeneBank.The secondary structure of the HIF-1α gene sequence was analyzed using RNA draw software.The small interfering RNA(siRNA) transfection mixture was produced by mixing the siRNA and Lipofectamine2000TM,and transfected into the hypoxic hepatoma cells.Real time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RTPCR) and Western blotting assay were used to detect the expression levels of mRNA and protein.HIF-1α and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) mRNA was determined using real time RT-PCR;the protein expression levels of AKT,p-AKT,p21 and cyclinD1 were determined using Western blotting.The proliferation of hepatoma cells was observed using the methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium(MTT) assay and the bromodeoxyuridine(BrdU) incorporation cell proliferation assay.RESULTS:Under induced hypoxia,the viability of the hepatoma cells reached a minimum at 800 μmol/L CoCl2;the viability of the cells was relatively high at CoCl2 concentrations between 100 μmol/L and 200 μmol/L.Under hypoxia,the mRNA and protein expression levels of HIF-1α and VEGF were significantly higher than that of hepatoma cells that were cultured in normaxia.HIF-1α-specific RNAi sequences were successfully transfected into hepatoma cells.The transfection of specific siRNAs significantly inhibited the mRNA and protein expression levels of HIF-1α and VEGF,along with the protein expression levels of p-AKT and cyclinD1;the protein expression of p21 was significantly increased,and there was no significant difference in the expression of AKT.The MTT assay showed that the amount of hepatoma cells in S phase in the siRNA transfection group was obviously smaller than that in the control group;in the siRNA transfection group,the amount of hepatoma cells in G1 phase was more than that in the control group.The BrdU incorporation assay showed that the number of BrdU positive hepatoma cells in the siRNA transfection group was less than that in the control group.The data of the MTT assay and BrdU incorporation assay suggested that HIF-1α silencing using siRNAs significantly inhibited the proliferation of hepatoma cells.CONCLUSION:Hypoxia increases the expression of HIF-1α,and HIF-1α silencing significantly inhibits the proliferation of hypoxic CBRH-7919 rat hepatoma cells.Lin-Feng Xu Jia-Yan Ni Hong-Liang Sun Yao-Ting Chen Yu-Dan Wu 2013World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,11:18
17Prognostic factors for survival after transarterial chemoembolization combined with microwave ablation for hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM:To analyze prognostic factors for survival after transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)combined with microwave ablation(MWA)for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).METHODS:Clinical data of 86 patients who underwent TACE combined with MWA between January 2006and December 2013 were retrospectively analyzed in this study.Survival curves were detected using log-rank test.Univariate analysis was performed using log-rank test with respect to 13 prognostic factors affecting survival.All statistically significant prognostic factors identified by univariate analysis were entered into a Cox proportion hazards regression model to identify independent predictors of survival.P values were two-sided and P<0.05 was considered statistically significant.RESULTS:Median follow-up time was 47.6 mo,andmedian survival time of enrolled patients was 21.5 mo.The 1-,2-,3-and 5-year overall survival rates were72.1%,44.1%,31.4%and 13.9%,respectively.Tumor size(χ2=14.999,P=0.000),Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer(BCLC)stage(χ2=29.765,P=0.000),ChildPugh class(χ2=51.820,P=0.000),portal vein tumor thrombus(PVTT)(χ2=43.086,P=0.000),arteriovenous fistula(χ2=29.791,P=0.000),MWA therapy times(χ2=12.920,P=0.002),Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group(ECOG)score(χ2=28.660,P=0.000)and targeted drug usage(χ2=10.901,P=0.001)were found to be significantly associated with overall survival by univariate analysis.Multivariate analysis identified that tumor size(95%CI:1.608-4.962,P=0.000),BCLC stage(95%CI:1.016-2.208,P=0.020),PVTT(95%CI:2.062-9.068,P=0.000),MWA therapy times(95%CI:0.402-0.745,P=0.000),ECOG score(95%CI:1.012-3.053,P=0.045)and targeted drug usage(95%CI:1.335-3.143,P=0.001)were independent prognostic factors associated with overall survival.CONCLUSION:Superior performance status,MWA treatment and targeted drug were favorable factors,and large HCC,PVTT and advanced BCLC stage were risk factors for survival after TACE-MWA for HCC.Jia-Yan Ni Hong-Liang Sun Yao-Ting Chen Jiang-Hong Luo Dong Chen Xiong-Ying Jiang Lin-Feng Xu 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,46:18

19Clinical trial of thalidomide combined with radiotherapy in patients with esophageal cancer显示文摘AIM:To investigate the short-term efficacy and tolerability of radiotherapy plus thalidomide in patients with esophageal cancer(EC).METHODS:Serum samples from 86 EC patients were collected before,during,and after radiotherapy,and the vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)level was examined by ELISA.According to the change in serum VEGF level during radiotherapy,the patients were divided into two groups:in the drug group,VEGF level was increased or remained unchanged,and thalidomide was administered up to the end of radiotherapy;in the non-drug group,VEGF level was decreased and radiotherapy was given alone.Thirty healthy volunteers served as controls.The efficacy and safety of radiotherapy plus thalidomide therapy were investigated.RESULTS:The 86 EC patients had a significantly higher level of VEGF compared with the 30 healthy controls before radiotherapy(P<0.01),and the VEGF level was significantly correlated with primary tumor size,lymph node metastasis,histopathologic type,and clinical stage(P<0.01).Of 83 evaluable cases,VEGF level was significantly decreased after radiotherapy in32 patients in the drug group(P<0.05),with an effective rate of 71.88%.The incidence of dizziness and/or burnout in the drug group and non-drug group was62.50%and 15.69%,respectively(P=0.000),and the incidence of somnolence was 12.50%and 0%,respectively(P=0.019).No significant differences were observed.CONCLUSION:Thalidomide can down-regulate serum VEGF level in EC patients,and combined with radiotherapy may improve treatment outcome.Thalidomide was well tolerated by EC patients.Jing-Ping Yu Su-Ping Sun Zhi-Qiang Sun Xin-Chu Ni Jian Wang Yi Li Li-Jun Hu Dong-Qing Li 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,17:16
