| 1 | Studies on the overexpression of the soybean GmNHX1 in Lotus corniculatus: The reduced Na^+ level is the basis of the increased salt tolerance显示文摘The full length cDNA coding for a novel vacuolar Na+/H+ antiporter (GmNHX1) was cloned from soybean and determined to consist of 2591 bp with a 5′-untranslated region of 464 bp, an open reading frame (ORF) of 1641 bp, and a 3′-untrans- lated region of 486 bp. The deduced protein se- quence contains 546 aa with the typical characters of the vacuolar Na+/H+ antiporters, and shares high similarity with that of AtNHX1, OsNHX1 and AgNHX1. The soybean genome showed a single copy of the GmNHX1 gene. Northern blot analysis demonstrated that the expression of the GmNHX1 was tissue-spe- cific, increased by ABA treatment, NaCl, KCl, LiCl and dehydration stress, and lower in leaves but higher in roots and hypocotyls of salt-tolerant than salt-sensitive cultivars. The GmNHX1 was overex- pressed under the control of a tandem cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) 35S promoter in the model le- guminous plant Lotus corniculatus L. and conferred salt-tolerance of the transgenic plants. | 2 | Histone demethylase LSD1 regulates bone mass by controlling WNT7B and BMP2 signaling in osteoblasts显示文摘Multiple regulatory mechanisms control osteoblast differentiation and function to ensure unperturbed skeletal formation and remodeling. In this study we identify histone lysine-specific demethylase 1(LSD1/KDM1 A) as a key epigenetic regulator of osteoblast differentiation. Knockdown of LSD1 promoted osteoblast differentiation of human mesenchymal stem cells(hMSCs)in vitro and mice lacking LSD1 in mesenchymal cells displayed increased bone mass secondary to accelerated osteoblast differentiation. Mechanistic in vitro studies revealed that LSD1 epigenetically regulates the expression of WNT7 B and BMP2. LSD1 deficiency resulted in increased BMP2 and WNT7 B expression in osteoblasts and enhanced bone formation, while downregulation of WNT7 B-and BMP2-related signaling using genetic mouse model or small-molecule inhibitors attenuated bone phenotype in vivo. Furthermore, the LSD1 inhibitor tranylcypromine(TCP) could increase bone mass in mice. | 5 | A Unified Approach to Construct Generalized B-Splines for Isogeometric Applications显示文摘Generalized B-splines have been employed as geometric modeling and numerical simulation tools for isogeometric analysis(IGA for short). However, the previous models used in IGA,such as trigonometric generalized B-splines or hyperbolic generalized B-splines, are not the unified mathematical representation of conics and polynomial parametric curves/surfaces. In this paper,a unified approach to construct the generalized non-uniform B-splines over the space spanned by{α(t), β(t), ξ(t), η(t), 1, t, ···, t^(n-4)} is proposed, and the corresponding isogeometric analysis framework for PDE solving is also studied. Compared with the NURBS-IGA method, the proposed frameworks have several advantages such as high accuracy, easy-to-compute derivatives and integrals due to the non-rational form. Furthermore, with the proposed spline models, isogeometric analysis can be performed on the computational domain bounded by transcendental curves/surfaces, such as the involute of circle, the helix/helicoid, the catenary/catenoid and the cycloid. | 7 | Morphological Development of Fuel Droplets after Impacting Biomimetic Structured Surfaces with Different Temperatures显示文摘To improve the controllability for the evaporation process of fuel spray impinging on the cylinder wall,an experimental study on the development of morphological process of different fuel droplets on aluminium alloy surfaces is carried out.The metal surfaces with different wettability are prepared by laser etching and chemical etching for the experiments.In total,three different fuels are tested and compared under different surface temperatures,including diesel,n-butanol and dimethyl carbonate(DMC).The results show that under a lower wall temperature,the surface wettability,viscosity and surface tension of the fuels have significant effects on spreading and rebounding behaviour of the droplets.As the wall temperature rises over the boiling points of the fuel but below its Leidenfrost temperature,the contact angles between the fuels and surfaces are varying according to the surface wettability,boiling point and Leidenfrost temperature of the fuels.When the temperature of the surface exceeds the Leidenfrost temperature of all the fuels,after impacting the surfaces,different fuel droplets tend to have the same development pattern,regardless of the surface wettability.The rebound level is mainly affected by the amount of fuel vapour generated during the wall-hitting process.Viscosity,surface tension and other properties of the fuel have little effect on post-impacting behaviour of the droplet when the wall temperature is higher than the Leidenfrost temperature of the fuel. | Liang Guo Yuheng Gao Ningning Cai Degang Li Yuying Yan Wanchen Sun | 2020 | Journal of Bionic Engineering2020,17,4: | 2 |
| 8 | Recent progress on chikungunya virus research显示文摘Chikungunya virus(CHIKV) is an arbovirus transmitted by Aedes mosquitos in tropical and subtropical regions across the world. After decades of sporadic outbreaks, it re-emerged in Africa,Asia, India Ocean and America suddenly, causing major regional epidemics recently and becoming a notable global health problem. Infection by CHIKV results in a spectrum of clinical diseases including an acute self-limiting febrile illness in most individuals, a chronic phase of recurrent join pain in a proportion of patients, and long-term arthralgia for months to years for the unfortunate few. No specific anti-viral drugs or licensed vaccines for CHIKV are available so far. A better understanding of virus-host interactions is essential for the development of therapeutics and vaccines. To this end, we reviewed the existing knowledge on CHIKV's epidemiology, clinical presentation, molecular virology, diagnostic approaches, host immune response, vaccine development, and available animal models. | 9 | Sandwiched N-carbon@Co_(9)S_(8)@Graphene nanosheets as high capacity anode for both half and full lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Transition metal sulfides(TMSs) are promising candidates for replacing graphite anode in LIBs. However,the low conductivity and structural collapse caused by the large volume change during lithium insertion and extraction greatly limit its application. Herein, we report a unique design of a two-dimensional(2 D) sandwich structure of N-doped carbon@Co9 S8@graphene(N–C@Co9 S8@G) with multilayer structure. Electrochemical tests reveal that the N–C@Co9 S8@G nanosheets possess a high reversible capacity(1009 mAhg^(-1) at 0.1 Ag^(-1)), and excellent rate capability(422mAhg^(-1) at 10 Ag^(-1)) and long cycle life(853 m Ahg^(-1) at 1Ag^(-1) for 500 cycles). Experimental studies reveal that capacitive storage contributes to the high reversible capacity. The lithium storage kinetics are studied by Galvanostatic intermittent titration technique(GITT) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS). Meanwhile, the potential of N–C@Co9 S8@G anode in a full cell using Li Co O2 as the cathode is also demonstrated, exhibiting a high reversible capacity of 300mAhg^(-1) cycles at 0.1Ag^(-1). | 11 | The sensitivity of the array resistivity log to mud filtrate invasion and its primary five-parameter inversion for improved oil water recognition显示文摘In order to improve reservoir fluid recognition, the sensitivity of array resistivity response to the difference of the invasion properties in both oil-bearing layers and water layers is analyzed. Then the primary inversion is carried out based on the array resistivity log. The mud invasion process is numerically simulated based on the oil-water flow equation and water convection diffusion equation. The results show that the radial resistivity of a fresh mud-invaded oil-bearing layer presents complex distribution characteristics, such as nonlinear increase, increasing to decreasing and low resistivity annulus, and the resistive invasion profile of a water layer is monotonic. Under specific conditions, array resistivity log can reflect these changes and the array induction log is more sensitive. Nevertheless, due to the effect of factors like large invasion depth, reservoir physical and oil-bearing properties, the measured apparent resistivity may differ greatly from the actual mud filtrate invasion profile in an oil-bearing layer. We proposed a five-parameter formation model to simulate the complex resistivity distribution of fresh mud-invaded formation. Then, based on the principle of non-linear least squares, the measured array resistivity log is used for inversion with the Marquardt method. It is demonstrated that the inverted resistivity is typically non-monotonic in oil-bearing layers and is monotonic in water layers. This route is based on the gelling of nitrate solutions by the addition of citric acid and ammonium hydroxide, followed by an intense combustion process due to an exothermic redox reaction between nitrate and citrate ions. The optimum technical parameters are that the pH value is 5, and the molar ratio of citric acid to the total metallic ion is 1.5:1. X-ray diffraction characterization of calcined gel shows that pure phase was synthesized after calcination at 1400℃ for 10 h, and the TEM result shows the calcined powder with average particle size is about 150 nm. The grain resistance contributes to the total resistance of sintered pellet below 500℃. | 18 | Mass transfer techniques for large-scaleand high-density microLED arrays显示文摘Inorganic-based micro light-emitting diodes (microLEDs) offer more fascinating properties and unique demands in next-generation displays. However, the small size of the microLED chip (1–100 µm) makes it extremely challenging for high efficiency and low cost to accurately, selectively, integrate millions of microLED chips. Recent impressive technological advances have overcome the drawbacks of traditional pick-and-place techniques when they were utilized in the assembly of microLED display, including the most broadly recognized laser lift-off technique, contact micro-transfer printing (µTP) technique, laser non-contact µTP technique, and self-assembly technique. Herein, we firstly review the key developments in mass transfer technique and highlight their potential value, covering both the state-of-the-art devices and requirements for mass transfer in the assembly of the ultra-large-area display and virtual reality glasses. We begin with the significant challenges and the brief history of mass transfer technique, and expand that mass transfer technique is composed of two major techniques, namely, the epitaxial Lift-off technique and the pick-and-place technique. The basic concept and transfer effects for each representative epitaxial Lift-off and pick-and-place technique in mass transfer are then overviewed separately. | 19 | Flexible multilayer lead-free film capacitor with high energy storage performances via heterostructure engineering显示文摘The immense potential of flexible energy storage materials applied in wearable electronic devices hasstimulated a lot of science researches on manufacturing technology and performance optimization.Herein, an all-inorganic flexible ferroelectric film with multilayer heterostructure is prepared based onMn doped Bi0.5Na0.5TiO_(3)eBiNi0.5Zr0.5O_(3) (Mn:BNT-BNZ) and Bi0.5Na0.5TiO_(3)eBiZn0.5Zr0.5O_(3) (BNT-BZZ)relaxor ferroelectrics. A win-win situation of breakdown strength and polarization is achieved in theMn:BNT-BNZ/BNT-BZZ multilayer film with the stacking period N - 3, of which energy density and ef-ficiency reach 80.4 J/cm3 and 62.0% respectively. It is proposed that the excellent energy storage per-formances are attributed to the synergistic effect of the electric field amplification effect, interfaceblocking effect and the polarization coupling effect based on the multilayer heterostructure. Moreover,the flexible ferroelectric film exhibits outstanding temperature (25e205 - C), frequency (0.5e5 kHz)stability and antifatigue property (1 108 cycles), and can well maintain stable performance at differenttensile/compressive bending radii (10e5 mm) and even after 104 bending cycles with a fixed bendingradius of 3 mm.
