| 1 | CO_(2) utilization: Developments in conversion processes显示文摘Carbon dioxide capture,utilization and storage(CCUS)eincluding conversion to valuable chemicals-is a challenging contemporary issue having multi-facets.The prospect to utilize carbon dioxide(CO_(2))as a feedstock for synthetic applications in chemical and fuel industries-through carboxylation and reduction reactions-is the subject of this review.Current statute of the heterogeneously catalyzed hydrogenation,as well as the photocatalytic and electrocatalytic activations of conversion of CO_(2) to value-added chemicals is overviewed.Envisaging CO_(2) as a viable alternative to natural gas and oil as carbon resource for the chemical supply chain,three stages of development;namely,(i)existing mature technologies(such as urea production),(ii)emerging technologies(such as formic acid or other single carbon(C1)chemicals manufacture)and(iii)innovative explorations(such as electrocatalytic ethylene production)have been identified and highlighted.A unique aspect of this review is the exploitations of reactions of CO2 ewhich stems from existing petrochemical plants-with the commodity petrochemicals(such as,methanol,ethylene and ethylene oxide)produced at the same or nearby complex in order to obtain value-added products while contributing also to CO_(2) fixation simultaneously.Exemplifying worldwide ethylene oxide facilities,it is recognized that they produce about 3 million tons of CO2 annually.Such a CO_(2) resource,which is already separated in pure form as a requirement of the process,should best be converted to a value-added chemical there avoiding current practice of discharging to the atmosphere.The potential utilization of CO_(2),captured at power plants,should also been taken into consideration for sustainability.This CO_(2) source,which is potentially a raw material for the chemical industry,will be available at sufficient quality and at gigantic quantity upon realization of on-going tangible capture projects.Products resulting from carboxylation reactions are obvious conversions.In addition,provided that enough supply of energy from non-fossil resources,such as solar[1],is ensured,CO_(2) reduction reactions can produce several valuable commodity chemicals including multi-carbon compounds,such as ethylene and acrylic acid,in addition to C1 chemicals and polymers.Presently,there are only few developing technologies which can find industrial applications.Therefore,there is a need for concerted research in order to assess the viability of these promising exploratory technologies rationally. | Erdogan Alper Ozge Yuksel | 2017 | Petroleum2017，3，1： | 13 |
| 2 | A predictive score for retinopathy of prematurity by using clinical risk factors and serum insulin-like growth factor-1 levels显示文摘AIM: To detect the impact of insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1) and other risk factors for the early prediction of retinopathy of prematurity(ROP) and to establish a scoring system for ROP prediction by using clinical criteria and serum IGF-1 levels.METHODS: The study was conducted with 127 preterm infants. IGF-1 levels in the 1 st day of life, 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd and 4 th week of life was analyzed. The score was established after logistic regression analysis, considering the impact of each variable on the occurrences of any stage ROP. A validation cohort containing 107 preterm infants was included in the study and the predictive ability of ROP score was calculated.RESULTS: Birth weights(BW), gestational weeks(GW) and the prevalence of breast milk consumption were lower, respiratory distress syndrome(RDS), bronchopulmonarydysplasia(BPD) and necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC) were more frequent, the duration of mechanical ventilation and oxygen supplementation was longer in patients with ROP(P<0.05). Initial serum IGF-1 levels tended to be lower in newborns who developed ROP. Logistic regression analysis revealed that low BW(<1250 g), presence of intraventricular hemorrhage(IVH) and formula feeding increased the risk of ROP. Afterwards, the scoring system was validated on 107 infants. The negative predictive values of a score less than 4 were 84.3%, 74.7% and 79.8% while positive predictive values were 76.3%, 65.5% and 71.6% respectively.CONCLUSION: In addition to BW <1250 g and IVH, formula consumption was detected as a risk factor for the development of ROP. | 3 | Early rehabilitation improves neurofunctional outcome after surgery in children with spinal tumors显示文摘To investigate the effect of early rehabilitation on neurofunctional outcome after surgery in children with spinal tumors, this study reviewed the medical charts and radiographic records of 70 pediatric patients(1–17 years old) who received spinal tumor surgical removal. The peddiatric patients received rahabilitation treatment at 4(range, 2–7) days after surgery for 10(range, 7–23) days. Results from the Modified McCormick Scale, Functional Independence Measure for Children, American Spinal Injury Association Impairment Scale and Karnofsky Performance Status Scale demonstrated that the sensory function, motor function and activity of daily living of pediatric children who received early rehabilitation were significantly improved. | 5 | What is the relationship between frailty and orthostatic hypotension in older adults?显示文摘Background Frailty and orthostatic hypotension (OH),which is common in older adults,is associated with morbidity and mortality.The relationship between them remains unclear.The aim of the study is to determine whether there is a relationship between frailty and OH.Methods A total of 496 patients who were admitted to the geriatric clinic and underwent comprehensive geriatric assessment were retrospectively reviewed.In a cross-sectional and observational study,OH was measured by the Head-up Tilt Table test at 1,3,and 5 min (respectively,OH1,OH3,and OH5) and the frailty was measured by the Fried’s frailty scale.Results The mean age of all patients was 75.4 ± 7.38.The prevalence of females was 69.8%.When the frail people were compared with the pre-frail and the robust ones,the frailty was associated with OH1.There was no relationship between the groups in terms of OH1 when the pre-frail group was compared with the robust group.OH3 were higher in the frail group than in the pre-frail group (P < 0.05) and the OH5 were higher in the frail group than in the pre-frail and robust group (P < 0.05),but OH3 and OH5 were not associated with frailty status when they were adjusted for age (P > 0.05).Slowness and weakness were associated with OH1 (P < 0.05),whereas the other components of the Fried’s test were not.Conclusions Frailty may be a risk factor for OH1.The 1^st min measurements of OH should be routinely evaluated in frail older adults to prevent OH-related poor outcomes. | Suleyman Emre Kocyigit Pinar Soysal Esra Ates Bulut Ali Ekrem Aydin Ozge Dokuzlar Ahmet Turan Isik | 2019 | Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2019，16，3： | 3 |

| 7 | Blue code: Is it a real emergency?显示文摘BACKGROUND: Cardiac arrests in hospital areas are common, and hospitals have rapid response teams or 'blue code teams' to reduce preventable in-hospital deaths. Education about the rapid response team has been provided in all hospitals in Turkey, but true 'blue code' activation is rare, and it is abused by medical personnel in practice. This study aimed to determine the cases of wrong blue codes and reasons of misuse.METHODS: This retrospective study analyzed the blue code reports issued by our hospital between January 1 and June 1 2012. A total of 89 'blue code' activations were recorded in 5 months. A 'blue code' was defined as any patient with an unexpected cardiac or respiratory arrest requiring resuscitation and activation of a hospital alert. Adherence to this definition, each physician classified their collected activation forms as either a true or a wrong code. Then, patient data entered a database(Microsoft Excel 2007 software) which was pooled for analysis. The data were analyzed by using frequencies and the Chi-square test on SPSSv16.0.RESULTS: The patients were diagnosed with cardiopulmonary arrest(8), change in mental status(18), presyncope(11), chest pain(12), conversive disorder(18), and worry of the staff for the patient(22). | 8 | 12q24 locus association with type 1 diabetes:SH2B3 or ATXN2?显示文摘Genetic linkage analyses, genome-wide association studies of single nucleotide polymorphisms, copy number variation surveys, and mutation screenings found the human chromosomal 12q24 locus, with the genes SH2B3 and ATXN2 in its core, to be associated with an exceptionally wide spectrum of disease susceptibilities. Hematopoietic traits of red and white blood cells(like erythrocytosis and myeloproliferative disease), autoimmune disorders(like type 1 diabetes, coeliac disease, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, thrombotic antiphospholipid syndrome, lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis, hypothyroidism and vitiligo), also vascular pathology(like kidney glomerular filtration rate deficits, serum urate levels, plasma beta-2-microglobulin levels, retinal microcirculation problems, diastolic and systolic blood pressure and hypertension, cardiovascular infarction), furthermore obesity, neurodegenerative conditions(like the polyglutamine-expansion disorder spinocerebellar ataxia type 2, Parkinson's disease, the motor-neuron disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and progressive supranuclear palsy), andfinally longevity were reported. Now it is important to clarify, in which ways the loss or gain of function of the locally encoded proteins SH2B3/LNK and ataxin-2, respectively, contribute to these polygenic health problems. SH2B3/LNK is known to repress the JAK2/ABL1 dependent proliferation of white blood cells. Its null mutations in human and mouse are triggers of autoimmune traits and leukemia(acute lymphoblastic leukemia or chronic myeloid leukemia-like), while missense mutations were found in erythrocytosis-1 patients. Ataxin-2 is known to act on RNA-processing and trophic receptor internalization. While its polyglutamine-expansion mediated gain-of-function causes neuronal atrophy in human and mouse, its deletion leads to obesity and insulin resistance in mice. | 9 | Clinical outcomes of a new diffractive multifocal intraocular lens显示文摘AIM:To evaluate clinical outcomes after implantation of a new diffractive aspheric multifocal intraocular lens(IOL) with +3.00 addition power.METHODS:This is a retrospective,consecutive case series of cataract patients who underwent bilateral implantation of the Optiflex MO/HF D012(Moss Vision Inc.Ltd,London,UK) multifocal IOL.Patients followed for 6 mo were included in the study.Data on distance,intermediate and near visual acuity,refractive error [manifest spherical equivalent(MSE)],contrast sensitivity,adverse events,subjective symptoms,spectacle independence and patient satisfaction [visual function questionnaire(VFQ)-25 questionnaire] were retrieved from electronic medical records and analyzed.RESULTS:Forty eyes of 20 patients with a mean age of 66.7±8.5 y(range:53-82) were included in the study.Mean uncorrected distance,near and intermediate visual acuity remained stable through postoperative visits and was 0.19±0.19 log MAR,Jaeger 4 and Jaeger 3 respectively at the 6 mo visit.At the end of postoperative 6 mo,MSE was-0.14±0.42 diopters(D) and 98% of the eyes were within 1.00 D of target refraction.Postoperative low contrast(10%) visual acuity remained stable(P=0.54) through follow up visits with a mean of 0.35±0.17 log MAR at the 6 mo visit.There were no reported adverse events.None of the patients reported subjective symptoms of halo or glare.Spectacle independence rate was 90%.Mean VFQ-25 questionnaire score was 93.5±6.12.CONCLUSION:The Optiflex MO/HF-DO12 IOL was safely implanted and successfully restored distance,intermediate and near visual acuity without impairing contrast sensitivity.High levels of spectacle independence were achieved at all distances including intermediate distance. | Baha Toygar Ozge Yabas Kiziloglu Okan Toygar Ali Murat Hacimustafaoglu | 2017 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2017，10，12： | 2 |
